It is a time of strife. Throughout the 21st century, humanity has torn itself apart. The UN, bastion of common decency that it is, has decided that to save humanity, something *must be done*. Unfortunately, circumstances on Earth are less than appealing.

The decision? *Go take some other planet.*

A habitable planet had been discovered in the Centauri System, and thus, a flagship, the 'Unity' was constructed, named because it represented the unified effort of what was left of humanity to *survive*.

Unfortunately, there were unstable elements aboard the ship. The captain was killed, and the crew split into seven faction. Each stole a colony pod, and plummeted to the surface of the planet, seperated. From there, they each began to forge a new existence.

It was only a matter of time before the humans ran into each other, and the spark of warfare began again. But mysterious forces were in motion on the planet, and, like a living body, it began attempting to cleanse itself of invaders...

I am, of course, talking about Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, that wonderful civilisation-like game released several years back. As admittedly cool as an RPG based on that setting would be, that's not what I have in mind.

No, I want to play a multiplayer game!

Through use of the handy play-by-email system, I figure this could work between several people. Thus, if you have this game, drop a message here. Multiplayer Alpha Centauri is really fun. We'll likely be using the expansion, too; Alien Crossfire. You can, apparently, download it from www.the-underdogs.org

Also, just so all interested parties know; I feel it's only fair to ban two factions...

1) Both Alien Factions. "Oh, yeah, we start with a bunch more tech than the humans, this huge tank, a slew of social engineering techs..."

If you're interested, drop a line here. We'll even set up a board, on which turns can be posted and witty comments thrown back and forth.

Warning: Play-By-Email takes *time*. Be prepared for the long haul. :D

Don't call your faction just yet if you decide to play, though. We'll work on that later. :D

I am very much in.

Although I think the Pirates should be banned as well. Their ability to expand with no (excepting the odd sealurk) opposition until about 100 turns into the game when everyone else gets naval units makes them a bit broken. And it'd be fairly boring to play them and having little interaction with the other players for the early game.

O-k, slight change. You can apparently download the entire game throug the-underdogs, just by downloading Alien Crossfire. Neat.

The game is essentially civilisation in space, but I think it's rather neat. :D
