[Fanfic][RPG-based][Threads of Fate][Cont.] Darkening Thread

Hmm... so this place does have a fanfiction section. ^_^ Well, since I mentioned that I had written an RPG-based fic -- and since Dracos has so nicely suggested it, in passing -- I'm posting the first 3 chapters of my story, Darkening Threads, here. But before the fic itself, I must first post the info...

The story is based on Square's RPG, Threads of Fate (or Dewprism in the original Japanese). It's a little known game that I rather like. ^_^ While not exactly a hardcore RPG, Threads of Fate does have its good points that makes it perfect as a 'past-time' RPG (you know, the kind you play to relax. But then, I'm biased. ^_^). Anything else about the game, you can get from such sites as GameFAQS and other review sites -- or even from Square's own website (which I don't know the URL for).

My story is a continuation, meaning that it is set after the events of the game. But don't worry, I have tried my best to ensure that even if a person has never played the game, or has never even heard of it, he/she will still be able to enjoy the story. At least, I hope so. ^_^ Anyway, here's chapter 1-3, posted since I haven't got anything better to do. ^_^ They're all in html form, though, since I haven't had time to convert it to plain text. Heh. I'm playing ToF right now. My old data got erased a while back and I really wanted to see the true ending again. ^_^

I almost forgot how cool Doll Master was in Rue's story (though I still think Mint's story was better.)

I have to ask, who's storyline you are following? I had forgotten how vastly different they were.

Good to see another ToF fan around.^_^

Who's storyline am I following? Well, it's based on the combined storyline of Rue and Mint. Why? Because I like it better that way. ^_^ Besides, with a little tweaking both storylines mesh well. I'm thinking of maybe giving a rundown on my interpretation of the events of the game, a chronicle of events wherein both Rue and Mint did things together, but that can wait. I don't think there are any major contradictions that will confuse anyone who has played the game but if there are, feel free to ask me about it. ^_^

I personally agree that it's set far enough in the future that it doesn't matter the small stuff.

Personally I found problems with the opening being far to expository.  Returning to events five years ago is a bad way to start a story in my opinion, unless that IS the story.  Better by far to leap right into the character and setting and bring us clenched into the story at hand.  This sort  of explanation  just ruins my desire to care about the character usually.

 Additionally, you have some trouble as you are working off an incredibly comedic and unstable baseline game.  I'd suggest getting further  out of the comedic  base and using the original Dew prism more as inspiration...make it more AU style.   Make it darker from the get go, less comedic.  Drama over comedy and all that.  ^_^
