Please Wake Me Up

[Brian]

"I don't know yet," Relm says, shrugging.  "You could encounter all sorts of situations.  Right now, I need to know what you want to do, so I can try and see how it's going to work out.  You're not decided, so everything is vague."  Turning to Tim, she says, "Specifically, you can help best, I'd think, by learning more control over the dream.  Hone your skills so that they can help us all.  In the waking world, we're going to need more buildings to house all of the new people, but you may wish to set your own training at a higher priority."

[Halbarad]

"That'll mean spending time in the Dream with the Brotherhood, I think. I doubt anyone can teach me better about what I can do than they can. I'll probably head that direction once we're done here."

[Carthrat]

"Yeah," muses Tom. "Yeah. Hmm. If they can theoretically teach anything, maybe I could come with you.. though I'm not sure how."

[Halbarad]

"I can take you, I think. I'm pretty sure I've got enough control here to manage that much, at least." Tim nods.

[Bjorn]

Bjorn rubs at his jaw.  "Without knowing more about Pax and Cabal's set-up at the moment, I can't be sure what I want do do," he says.  "But probably the best general thing for me to be developing is my... power, I guess, which the Brotherhood might be able to help me with."

[Carthrat]

"Cool. No real idea what I should ask them to train me in, though," muses Tom. "Hmm. Any ideas, or should I trust my.. er, discretion?" he asks Relm.

[Brian]

"Well, what do you think you'd be good at?" she asks.  "The Dream reinforces your basic image.  That means things that are central to yourself are what the Brotherhood of Morpheus can teach you to improve in -- often to great effect.  Though ... before you can undertake training, you should probably decide what your goal is in the first place."

[Carthrat]

Tom goes silent at that, deep in self-introspective thought.

[Brian]

"I suppose I should get back to my research," Relm muses.  "I'll probably be harder to find the next few days, while I try and sort things out, though.  If you have any questions, you should probably ask them before my focus fades entirely ... though I'm not certain how useful the answer will be right now."

[Halbarad]

"I think I'm more or less set," Tim replies. "You just confirmed what I was already planning, so I'll go with that for now.

"That said, who's coming with me to see the Brotherhood right now? If Relm's going through your dreams, will you need to do that first or can we do both at the same time?"

[Carthrat]

"Well, they'd need to actually dream them, wouldn't they?" says Tom, musing. "Or would they create an entirely seperate dimension? A sub-dream, if you will. Perhaps every time we go to sleep, a new universe is formed. Freud would have a field day.

What if we physically went into the dream and fell asleep there? Would it be possible to somehow dream ourselves back into the world, making us into a figment of our own imagination?"

[Brian]

"I don't think it'd really be Freud's business," Relm says slowly.  "I'm pretty sure he's in the realm of thinking, not doing.  When your thoughts begin to take life of their own, it's pretty much too late to be consulting him.  For that, if you try and dream yourself awake, you've just put a dream inside a dream.  Though, there is always astral projection, if you're wishing to be a dream in the waking world.  It's good for seeing from afar, but not so good if you intend to remember what you saw."

[Bjorn]

Bjorn nods slowly at that, but himself says only, "I don't have any questions for the moment.  Other than to know if there's anything I can do to help your research, I suppose."

[Brian]

"Give up your dreams for a night or two," Relm says with a lopsided grin.  "But Rez volunteered to be first."

[Bjorn]

Bjorn nods again.
