Crollary: Piracy will enjoy an increase, as will increasingly competitive anti-mod measures.

Brian:

As far as Microsoft goes, I don't really dislike the OS section of 'em. Sure, Windows is the most used and the most vulnerable OS and Internet Explorer is dated; thus a security issue, but a lot of it is merely flak for being on top. Microsoft products in this realm are the natural targets for it, and I don't really have anything against Windows.

I hate the Xbox because  Microsoft is throwing money around and willing to foot selling consoles at a loss to try and buy market share. The Xbox has felt like a console boosted by bully tactics from day one, poorly designed oftimes but relying on flash and Live instead of game quality.

I dunno, I'm weird about this. The entire Xbox campaign has had a way of rubbing me just the wrong way.

As a final note to the rare cynic inside of me, pushing multiplayer online is  a bad thing. I'm an optimist about human nature, but come on. Look at the pool of players you tend to draw from here.  Do I really want to be pressured to dive into that?

Price hike? Hm. It's possible, I suppose, though the price range of 50ish for new titles has held for awhile now. With the dollar being worth comparatively less, it's not surprising that prices may rise. Shame wages aren't so reactive. Even if prices do rise, I agree. If it becomes a monetary handicap, piracy and rentals will rise. Or, people may need to wait a few months or bargain hunt for games they like, I know most games can be gotten cheap a bit down the line. Nothing wrong with that at all, unless you're the type who has to have a new game right when it comes out.

Oh, and 25 bucks for NES games? Wow. I wish I'd lived where you did back in the day.
