Spoiler: After losing it, Shikamaru loses it after Shikako talks about losing it so Shikamaru can get it.

You lost me.
<Cidward> God willing, we'll all meet in Buttquest 2: The Quest for More Butts.

So you're saying you didn't get it?

Merc

Yup. To be fair, I stopped reading DoS quite a while back, so any references you made to it would go over my head. That was still a particularly odd sentence structure though!

Ah.  Well, as usual, my spoilers are not designed to really spoil anything since they only make sense if you've read the chapter.  Here's a real one for the last set of chapters:
Spoiler: ShowHide

A long-running theme has been how the twins hate to see each other in danger.

In recent previous chapters, on a mission with the main, Shikamaru lost his arm.  In this chapter, when the family is talking about medical options, he mentions that transplants are not an option because he would find it chilling to have a stranger's arm.  Main asks if it's the "stranger" part that's the problem, and offers one of her arms so he can have two.  Shikamaru is horrified at this, and lashes out.

So, after losing his arm, Shikamaru loses his temper because Shikako talks about losing her arm so Shikamaru can get the arm.

Well, it's kind of crummy as even a suggestion.    I gotta admit, won't mind them getting out of this 'them flailing at each other' stage.  Because they've been doing it for what feels like dozens of chapters.
Well, Goodbye.

Empyrean

Shikako and Shikamaru's squabbles are without doubt my least favorite part of the fic. They just don't add much of anything, and they're never fun to read.

If it is a stage, and not a character feature.  It's an SI and if the writer is trying to write true-to-life, then...hope not though.

Also, https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11830798/1/Team-7-s-Ascension-Lines-in-the-Sand, the first chapter in a sequel to https://www.fanfiction.net/s/9948266/1/Team-7-s-Ascension-Blood-Wings, was posted.  I thought the earlier one was a decent fic, so I'll see if this one is better or at least the same.

Dracos

Yeah, really can't way to get out of the crack of them two snapping at each other every other scene.
Well, Goodbye.

Burn Notice/Supernatural crossover. It's much better than it sounds and a fun character piece.
<Afina> Imagine a tiny pixie boot stamping on a devil's face.
<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Dracos

Yes, still reading too much worm.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/el-ahrairah-worm.372987/ - Taylor gets to be wordsmith of shards...and tries to save the world.  One of the better Cauldron fics I've looked at where they are genuinely willing to accept help to save the world.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/crouching-tiger-worm-au-alt-power.382703/ - this is a pretty funny OC in Taylor's Skin type story.  She has dragon power and a lot of other BS.  Lots of little AU bits.  It kind of struggles with some of its foundation (How is lung both a teenager and a known legend is kind of 'huh').

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/danmachi-percy-jackson-prytaneum.352191/ - Daily Prytaneum or watching Percy get beat up.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/crime-and-commitment-worm.364903/ this has basically descended into "Watch all canon characters get curbstomped, believe that there will be meaningful story afterwards"...which I don't so I've stopped reading.

https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/h-mayhem-worm.380864/ The story of a sucidal OC who is cast as the brother of Bonesaw.  Is not very good at being a good guy.
Well, Goodbye.

Merc

Really, how many people in that universe are honestly good at being good guys?

Dragon comes to mind. Miss Milita comes off well too. Armsmaster would normally, though Worm's early arcs are essentially his professional life going to hell thanks to bad luck and Taylor, until he does something desperate in the Leviathan battle. Legend's another one. Arguably Eidolon, depending on how you parse things and a bunch of spoilers.

Between the rigged game the Entities set up and the tone of the work, the answer is depressingly few people. Even those who are good at what they do faceplant against the next higher tier of threat.

Notably the protagonist isn't on that list. She tends to be effective at her goals (good or bad) but is completely nuts. Girl has issues, yo. Even when she's aimed at the bad guys as a full good guy, she's a thing.
