Sorry, forgot to update here.

Could have been amusing but the poor choice of perspective kills it.

Delenda Est Updated again. Yay.
What if they're not stars at all? What if the night sky is full of titanic far-off lidless eyes, staring in all directions across eternity?

Anastasia

Dungeon Keeper Ami updated. Decent update, nothing too exciting. The problem with the Addventure is that the small chapter size makes things like this draaaaaaaaaaaag. Really this sort of story should be updated once a month on FFnet.

<Afina> Imagine a tiny pixie boot stamping on a devil's face.
<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Nobody Dies chapter 102 (actually a lot of people have died so far; they just weren't PCs)

Landsman needs editor badly. Something was a dream and something else is reality and I have no idea what the fuck is going on anymore.

Though at least it isn't disappearing up its own arse with uber-rei shit like it seemed it would twenty chapters ago.

Jon

The Fable of Joyful Wing

Harry Dresden as filtered through the lens of wuxia epics. (Or, more accurately, the lens of Bridge of Birds, but I found out not many people here know what that is.)

I quit following this about ten chapters ago just because it seemed like uber-Rei or otherwise, he was never going to actually close out any of his hanging plot threads.
I am a terrible person.
Excellent Youkai.

I stopped following ND when they started having enough dimensions going that I lost track of which shinji or whatnot I was looking at.

Too a look at fission, but it's not really sticking yet.  Writing quality mainly.  That and the whole Ranma traits/Usagi traits thing is strange.  Different, but seems just there for laughs.
Well, Goodbye.

Just read it.  More of a Chinese mythology feel than wuxia, since wuxia characters are conduct-based (the "xia" of wuxia).  The "impossibility of turning immortal" is odd since it is contradicted by a fair number of stories (such as how the moon goddess came to be), but that might also be the background of Bridge of Birds, with which I'm not familiar.

Re; fission - Is that still being written?  I remember reading that awhile ago, and while it was fun, it didn't seem like a sustainable story.  The Ranma-ice cream scene description is something I still remember.

In the Bridge of Birds story, IIRC, immortality can be achieved just by removing your heart (until someone finds and stabs it, anyway).  No one good ever does this.
I handle other fanfic authors Nanoha-style.  Grit those teeth!  C&C incoming!
Prepare to be befriended!

When Bone Cage says it's impossible, what he means is that you're going to fail unless you already have the gods on your side, and when you fail it will mean "a fate worse than death".

And he knows from experience.

Huh.  Is that because heart removal is the result of being evil, or the cause?  As in, when the Emperor who rules with Morality and Benevolence is about to die and they remove his heart to further his benign reign, does he become a rat bastard the next day?  Or is it because dying is awesome, and only jerks would contemplate not dying?

Also, the "evil people live forever" concept is pretty much directly opposed to traditional Chinese mythology, since it was following Daoist or Buddhist virtues or somesuch that was supposed to turn you immortal (or eating special godly medicine, or heavenly peaches, or whatever).  Of course, I get that this isn't a real Chinese mythology story, but it still feels weird.

In context of the basic story, sure.  I meant that actual Chinese mythology has a number of instances where mortals ascended to immortality/godhood, so the flat declaration by the narrator that it's impossible is strange.

Heck, my mother's mother's family is supposed to have one member supposedly includes Ma Tsu, who went to heaven before she died because of her virtuous nature.  It's not as if people were flying into the air all over the place as per artistic renditions of the Rapture, but humans achieving immortality wasn't unknown.

The fic you linked is a good story, for all that.   But it is one of those cultural disconnect instances, like when you see manga renditions of the US include squat toilets and people hauling out their firearms (because everyone knows that all Americans own guns) in their daily fight at the local sushi bar.

Dracos

Read the latest BDSM today.  Pretty neat, Rei went Reimu and then set everyone on fire.  Usagi was awesome leader.  Kinda had a wonky ending though and still sort of is phrased 'Look, the bad guys are managing things so that they will be able to win in the end game'.

Gonna say again: totally fine with just the sailor moon crew kicking ass.  It doesn't need a "Just as Planned~".  Really~!
Well, Goodbye.

Just fun.

I read that and thought it was amusing. It's not great art, but it's a fun little subversion.
