https://www.fanfiction.net/s/10239811/1/Pencils-down-Death-rays-up  linked in kitago.  WoD/Mass Effect...basically just a crack fic having the reapers chopped up by the various forces of the WoD universe, casually handwaving them really to a significantly lesser type of threat to make it work (No reapers just aren't in the category of things where an army of folks with rifles even matters and 100k landing on earth is pretty much 'we've replaced earth with a shell of dead reapers from volume).  Worth a slight smile, but no more really.

http://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/mass-effect-exalted-glorious-shotgun-princess-revised.339878/ got linked and glanced through.  Seems to be putting more work in setting and into preparation/foreshadowing... but really, still not working for me.  The extra work on the opening meeting with Thane actually makes it a lot less ...viable?  It's strongly demonstrating an effective existing established team, which makes the 'why are we bothering with the assassin' a seriously good point.  Shepard is already waving around a dramatically larger operation staff than the entire cast of ME2 at end was.  The event is also not a very significant one in ME2 timeline, so having it go to 11 is pushing it even further into overkill.  The Reaper base would make sense for this kind of flow, not crime-lord sitting at top of building.  The original felt like it actually had a more appropriate level of establishing shot overkill (Here is superwomen against crimeboss versus here's the entire justice league against same crimeboss).  Anyhow, I've been unkind to that fic for a while so quietish :P

FSN fic:
I'm actually with Merc.  The immediate and obvious (and also completely unfollowed up on and irrelevant) opener had me totally disinterested right off the bat.  I actually tabbed down (realized it was super short) and looked to see if there was any redeeming bit...but it seems to be basically going:
"We'll start inflightish, only there is no relation to the in flight series, and all of Shirou's related characters have been killed, so he's in a superdepressive fugue...and still alive for some retarded reason".  It's an amazingly 'meh' opener for anything and it does make it obvious what angle it'll be going with.  "Hey look we've torn shirou down, now the girls put him back together, believe this will be neat, even though I can't even write my own story intro."



https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8034380/1/Harry-Potter-and-the-Garden-of-Intrigue  - I've read a bit of this now and well...mmm.  I'm not super feeling it.  I'm just about after the sorting and this is one of the most hufflepuffish harry's I've seen (aside from the parody harry the hufflepuff).  He's extremely friendly/eccentric, and reaches out immediately...yet somehow doesn't click at all with hermione.  But whatever, the way he's portrayed makes going with the default choice pretty strange.  He reaches out to Haggrid.  He tends to pets and cares about bringing them along and seeing them in good homes.  He has long friendly discussions with Draco and his possy.  He spends an enormous amount of screen time befriending and talking about being friends and then... "Boom, you are gryffindor".  Really?  Okay default choice.  I'll probably read further but seeing an author who doesn't flow from his changes bothers me.  This harry is into gardening, name making, friend making, animals, and of course bonkers about magic.  It feels a very different stripe from the git-go and handwaving it toward the starting point felt weird.
