Nanoha returns!

It doesn't suck, again!

Is there any more that needs saying?

Oh, I suppose I shall have to elaborate. Nanoha is what Precure really wanted to be; it combines good shoujo with great shounen action sequences that leave the viewer on the edge of his or her respective seat. You're never quite certain who is going to win any encounter, amazingly enough!

Nanoha A's looks to deliver even more of the same right off the bat. It feels a lot like the latter stuff from season one, after the show'd found its stride. There is a whole bucket full of new enemies introduced (though not formally as of yet) and already no less than three shoujo storylines going on behind it all.

When the first battle of the show has you yelling at your monitor, you know it's good.

But BUT! Nanoha is NOT all about the fighting, oh no.

Not at all.

Really.

. . .

Fate better kick the sheeit out of somebody. That's all I'm saying.

Seen up to episode 2 raw myself and I can second what ThePanda says. The series is full of memorable characters, wonderful music, great animation, and battles that could teach certain other Shounen series a lesson in regards to how battles SHOULD really be done.

Very highly recommended.

Well, someone might as well use these forums so...

I'm up to episode 5 and I have to say that this season is even better than the last, hands down. Those who know how much I liked the last season should understand what that means.

I'm happy that they didn't reset the growth Nanoha and Fate had last season. They lack the depression that they had and retain the confidence they fought hard to gain. Or maybe confidence isn't the right word. Conviction, maybe? Ok, yeah, that works better.

Anyway, what this means is that the two start out as strong characters, so we aren't forced to cover old ground, Fate's adoption not withstanding. Instead, this season's big focus is on the new villians.

They carry it well. Each of the new guys acts as a foil for one of the old cast, but they still manage to be strong enough characters that it isn't neccessary to have the old cast enter into their lives at every moment. In fact, the only time the two groups cross paths is in battle, as it should be. The dynamic among the group is enjoyable.

But really, if you're reading this you already know these things so...

Vita and Signum.

Can these two get any more awesome? Once again I find myself cheering for both the heroes and the villains and I suspect that they'll pull off another victory before the show is over.

Definitely. ^^

Nanoha A's definitely surpasses the original Seen up to episode 8 myself raw and I'm really enjoying it. ^^

Anyway here's something I think you'll really like!

I wish I could read these. ;_;

Some I get without being able to, though. ^^

Well, just watched episode 11 raw...

This is probably the single best episode of the series so far. They must make a third season, damnit. >_<

Also, is it just me or does it look like next episode Hayate summons her CHILD, Micky, to do battle against the Otome of the Raging Heart and loli-Guts?

I'm just saying. >_>

Actually I suspect that's the darkness of the Yami no Sho given form. Besides episode 12 will definitely see the birth of Magical Girl Hayate. ^^

Edit: It would appear that is actually the Automatic Protection Program of the Yami no Sho as opposed to simply the darkness given form.  Oh and this episode perfectly displays Nanoha's philosophy. "If I can kick your ass and save you at the same time life is good!" ^^

Watched episode 13. Another good series has come and gone. ;_;

Overall I liked this season more than the first, but I have to admit it was far from perfect.

Three major gripes have I.

1.) Inconsistant artwork. While the art started strong, there were times when the artwork was just plain bad. There where time when the proportions were bleh. Episode 12's light show was lackluster. The ending really looks rushed.

2.) The six year skip. I liked how the constructs didn't age, but why did it seem that Fate and her mother were the only women to age properly? Nanoha and the others look like they had the same exact heads placed on a larger body.

3.) The six year skip. When a series jumps that far ahead at the end you know that's the end. I'll have to wait to find out what the text says at the end of the show, but I'm pretty sure this is all the Nanoha we'll be getting. So sad.

;_;

This is true. ;_;

Blame the same person responsible for the crappy artwork in some of the previous season's episodes. The odds are the art and what not will be cleaned up for the dvd version, well as much as can be done anyway short of scrapping the episode and redoing it from scratch, like it was with the previous season's dvd release. Unfortunately we probably won't see those subbed.

Edit: I've now seen the dvd version of episode 12 and it was definitely corrected. It's so much more enjoyable to watch when the character art doesn't look like third rate horse manure. ^^

I have to disagree with you here slightly. Arisa certainly doesn't look like she's simply the younger version's head on an older body to me. The rest I agree with you on.

In all honesty it probably is for the best to not continue the story. I'm not sure how much more can really be done with the series at this point. Alhough it might be fun to see perhaps a short OVA set during the six year gap focusing on Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate's training to become professional magical girls.

Here's a little something for you all... for those who wonder what Bardiche and Raising Heart were saying in episode 4 when their new forms were first activated... well thanks to the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Original Sound Track Plus Volume 2 I can now divulge it courtesy of tracks seven and eight.

Raising Heart: "Order of the set up was accepted. Exchange parts are in good condition. Completely cleared from NEURO-DYNA-IDENT alpha zero one to beta eight six five. Main system start up. An Axel and a Buster, the modes switching became possible. The percentage of synchronicity, ninety are maintained. Stand by ready. Drive Ignition."

Bardiche: "Operating check of the new system has started. The deformation mechanism confirmation is in good condition. Haken form deformation preperation. The battle with the maximum performance is always possible. Condition all green, Get set. Drive Ignition."

Anyways enjoy this pointless trivia. o_O
