Okay... for this one there wasn't much for Thrall up until the fight with Herzoufwari and his goons, but from there on?

Going mano a mano with an experienced fighter wearing magic armour and wielding a magic weapon, and beating him down without a scratch? Yeah, Thrall is badass.

Then they had to go and surrender to make things complicated!

At heart, Thrall is a pragmatist. He wouldn't take kindly to anyone saying he's squeamish, but he quite simply doesn't care for senseless violence. If he's getting paid to kill or maim someone, then kill or maim is what he'll do. But being the aggressor in a random fight where he has nothing at stake affords him a certain magnaminity. Since the mercs had fought well, and only to defend themselves, there didn't seem any point in finishing them off. The mayor was paying them to get information (and had told them to avoid battle), so he'd be quite happy to question them and let them go.

I think this session really helped solidify Thrall's 'warrior code'. He's not Good, but he's certainly very far from Evil. Most importantly, he's Lawful. So telling some people that they'd be treated well if they cooperated, and then having a party member lean in and start carving up a semi-conscious prisoner's face for no readily apparent reason really pissed him off.

How does this fit with his backstory? While certainly the average alignment in his old thieves guild veered towards the more Evil side of Neutral, his navy days were with a crew that tended towards Good, though still mostly Neutral. So he's got a firm sense of fair play, which is superceded by a healthy respect for any chain of command. If he has orders from any authority he percieves as legitimate, he'll carry them out short of slaughtering children or something similarly vile. But left to his own devices, he treats others with the respect he thinks they deserve. And anyone who shares the hardships of a mercenary's life dserves at least some.

Hmm.. Can't say I did much of anything of great note this time around..

Except for comming up with a pretty damn believable and well thought out excuse on the fly once we got busted, and for fighting 'smart.' Taking down the already injured and cutting down on the overall fight time by a decent amount, I think.

Other than that.. How about a break from god damned roll failures? =p
This is not the greatest post in the world, no... this is just a tribute.
