[14:41] <Gamer-Rat> Out the front of the town hall are a few bounty notices, note Seraphin and Thrall as they exit. Fairly typical things- bandit leaders, it seems, wanted 'dead or alive'.
[14:42] * Thrall stops before the board, looking them over to see the rewards and what details are available on these walking dead men.
[14:43] * Seraphin pauses at 'dead or alive', since she didn't note a thief guild worth really noting in what Ruth said about this place. She might be able to do something like that, maybe. She begins to check them, almost noredly. But to pay the bills, sometimes one must do work not to their prefferences...
[14:43] <Seraphin> *boredly
[14:46] <Gamer-Rat> They're not even terribly profitiable bounties- except one. "Lief the Quick" is worth a solid five hundred gold- he reputedly only has a few men, but he's written up as an expert swordfighter and horseman, hiding somewhere north of Saradush, around the forests. All attempts to capture him have resulted in several dead men and no success...

[14:48] * Seraphin eyes it, pondering. "Two-fifty sound good to you?" she asks Thrall out of the blue.

[14:48] <Thrall> "Hmph," Thrall commits that face to memory, glancing sideways at the woman beside him. "We think alike, you and I."
[14:50] <Seraphin> "Only because I don't have to bring back more than a head, even that's more than I'm used to," Seraphin shrugs, giving Thrall a wry smile.
[14:50] <Gamer-Rat> It's an unshaven face, sporting a notable moustache and goatee, with coarse features and short hair, along with the typical angry look on all such bounty notices.
[14:55] <Thrall> "Scalps are easier to bring back, but not many places accept them," Thrall nods. "So, a bandit near the forests..." the half-orc considers, stroking his chin. "Good thing we picked up those horses - it's a lot of ground to cover, even sticking to the roads."
[14:58] * Seraphin nods, yawning a bit. "I'm not so used to having to track my targets, either," she admits, shrugging. "You have an idea?" she deffers to the more professional of them in this area.

[15:00] <Thrall> "We won't look like very tempting targets to any bandits," Thrall shakes his head. "Our best bet is to shadow a caravan heading North and hope to catch them in the act."
[15:02] * Seraphin nods. "Shadow a likely caravan, hope they get hit, decide from their depending on disposition of the bandits while they loot?" she hazards. "And if not then, how they flee."
[15:04] <Thrall> "It's a lot simpler than going to the trouble of disguising ourselves as helpless merchants," Thrall agrees. "You have anything you want to do before we head out?"
[15:05] * Seraphin shakes her head. "I'm good, picked up my new knife already, so..." she shrugs.
[15:07] <Thrall> "Let's go kill ourselves a bandit, then," Thrall replies with a nasty smile, starting towards the Inn where they've stabled their horses.
[15:07] * Seraphin snickers a little, nodding once in agreement and following Thrall to more profitable ventures!
[15:11] <Gamer-Rat> OOC: You could just skip through #theinn if you were passing through, but if you're basically going to get right on with it, gimme a moment to finish up in there anyhow. =p

[15:49] <Thrall> Riding out of the city gates, Thrall stops his horse by the guard, deciding to ask him if any caravans or merchants have departed northwards today.

[15:51] <Gamer-Rat> "Just one- hah! The mayor took all the merchant leaders aside and had a word with them in private. Nothing's left since early morning."
[15:52] * Seraphin sighs a little. Leave it to beaucracies to ruin profits.
[15:52] * Thrall nods. Probably locking down the city after what they told him yesterday. "My thanks," he tells the guard, before spurring his horse onwards, speaking to Seraphin, "Guess we've got some catching up to do."
[15:54] * Seraphin nods, matching pace with Thrall as they head off.

[15:56] <Gamer-Rat> A few hours hard riding is rewarded with the sight of the caravan- not terribly big, just a few covered wagons being drawn by mules, with some armed men walking alongside.

[15:58] <Thrall> "There's our boys," Thrall remarks with some satisfaction, patting the neck of his horse and having it slow to a slow trot so they can follow from a distance, hopefully far enough to not seem any concern for bandits targetting the caravan.
[16:00] * Seraphin does smile a bit, this doesn't seem so hard. "Mm," she nods, slowing and watching. "And now just to wait..."
[16:01] <Gamer-Rat> The wagons proceed at a slow pace, typica for a caravan. Some time passes... (spot checks!)

[16:03] <Gamer-Rat> Both of you see it coming- from both sides, several horses making straight for the wagon! They're going to be flanked, and quickly, too!
[16:04] * Thrall grins ferally. "And there's our payday." Only speeding up to a canter, he watches the battle ahead, wanting it to play out before they get involved.
[16:06] * Seraphin smiles, just a touch evilly, and watching the battle to come, trying to gauge the bandit skill levels.
[16:06] <Gamer-Rat> There's four or five horseman coming from both sides- you can't tell! When they start to get closer, a shout of alarm comes from the guards, who frantically try to arrange themselves to defend! A flurry of arrows leaps out from the horsemen, though, dropping a few men as they charge closer!
[16:08] <Thrall> Noting the use of projectile weapons, Thrall looks to see how close they are to the forest. Taking the fight to them in that environment might suit him better...
[16:09] <Gamer-Rat> The forest isn't that far away- in fact, you're pretty sure some of the horseman would have emerged from it when they charged out. The horseman quickly close with the merchants, eschewing bows for swords, and begin fighting with the guards- a very one-sided affair.
[16:11] <Thrall> "Let's get off the road while they're busy," Thrall suggests, nudging his horse off the beaten path and into the edge of the forest half the bandits came from, still keeping an eye on the melee ahead.
[16:13] * Seraphin nods agreeably, keeping a crimson eye on things as they head into the forest. "It's looking more and more like we might want to do this the more underhanded way," she murmurs quietly.

[16:15] <Gamer-Rat> The melee is swift- the guards are down, out, or surrendering within seconds. Whooping, the bandits start looting the wagons and the dead merchants...
[16:15] <Thrall> "I'm not really one for tracking," Thrall admits. "I think the best approach is to wait for them to dismount and start looting, then charge them from the woods."
[16:17] <Seraphin> "Mmm," Seraphin agrees, looking around. "I may approach on foot sooner than that...I have a way to do so, this once, at least," Seraphin provides, shaking her head. "Heavens knows when else I'd use it."
[16:18] <Thrall> "You want to do that, then give me a signal to charge in?" Thrall asks, spurring his horse to move a bit faster so they can get in position before the bandits are done looting. "Like that spell you did the other day?"
[16:20] <Seraphin> "Spell? Oh, that," Seraphin stifles a small laugh, nodding. "May as well. I'll set it off just before I start attacking," sher agrees, looking around. "I should tie up my horse somewhere," she hums, looking for a low branch.
[16:21] <Gamer-Rat> Horse shortly tied, Seraphin and Thrall are prepared to go. Four of the bandits are still on horses, circling the remains of the caravan, while the other 4 heave.. stuff.. into saddlebags and sacks.
[16:22] * Thrall holds his own horse ready and watches the road, waiting for Seraphin to do her thing...
[16:23] <Seraphin> "This could certainly get interesting..." Seraphin grumbles, taking a few vials out of her pack, but leaving it concealed in a hollow otherwise. Drawing her shortsword, she spreads on vial of oil on it, and then drinks one herself.
[16:24] <Gamer-Rat> A slight tingle goes through Seraphin's body, and Thrall sees her abruptly vanish into thin air! Only a slight impression on the grass gives an indication she's around.
[16:25] * Thrall smiles as his partner on this mission vanishes, deciding to take a potion from his own pack, waiting for the right moment to drink it so he'll get the most use.
[16:27] * Seraphin begins advancing, trying to stay quiet, but not too quiet as the bandits are occupied, and get on the road. Fire is always a good distraction, and so she aims for a wagon that's almost unloaded, but has people near it.

[16:30] <Gamer-Rat> Like she's not even there, Seraphin easily gets within throwing distance of an wagon- the bandits are hardly taking everything from the wagons, just as much as they can carry- some gold, some food, and some fine fabrics. Nothing particularly glamorous, but when you're a bandit...
[16:32] <Seraphin> Getting closer to a riding bandit, and rethinking her plan on the fly, she throws one of her vials right in front of it, knowing the limits of her spell.

[16:43] <Seraphin> Moving up to where she should be within striking distance when the time comes, Seraphin focuses, trying to put that black sphere of darkness in the air, where it will serve its role as a signal, and no more. Well, maybe it'll be a distraction, too.
[16:47] <Gamer-Rat> Fiendish blood boiling, Seraphin blots out everything to one side of the caravan! Cries of dismay arise from the three bandits within, and the other bandits glance around worriedly- "There must be a mage!" one shouts- one with a face quite similar to that on the painting! "If you hear any chanting, attack it!"
[16:48] <Thrall> Seeing the signal, Thrall quaffs his potion of Bull's Strength and spurs his warhorse to charge the caravan, readying his axe and racing towards the nearest mounted bandit!
[16:48] * Seraphin smiles easily, moving towards that voice. Once within easy range, her captured dagger comes out, thrown at the man's back!

[15:11] <Thrall> "Hah..." Thrall grins savagely, patting his horse as he dismounts. "You're a good horse," he remarks offhandedly, pleased with how the beast handled itself in combat. "Two got away, but I doubt they'll return to give any trouble," he adds to Seraphin as he wipes his axe on the side of a caravan to get some blood off. "How are your injuries?"
[15:13] <Seraphin> "I've had worse...they'll heal," Seraphin shakes her head pushing off the pain in her mind. "I'll drink a potion when I get my pack back," she murmurs, humming and looking around. "How mercantile are you feeling?" she asks curiously. "We've got a whole caravan with no legal owners, and we're on the legal high ground already by killing the bandits."
[15:15] <Thrall> "Bah," Thrall shakes his head, looking around for the members of the caravan he saw surrendering. "I'm no trader. We'll take the gold, equipment, and horses." Looking down at Lief's discarded fancy blade, "That sword will fetch a fair price even if it doesn't bear an enchantment."
[15:18] * Seraphin sighs. "Probably correct..." she murmurs, shaking her head. ,ah, yeah...if it does have an enchantment, though..." Seraphin's smile returns, and shrugs. "Anyway, we might as well get to work," she hums, cleaning her blade on a corpse and sheathing it, before retrieving her dagger from Leif's back, and going about the business of looting.
[15:20] <Thrall> "You can keep it if you want," Thrall offers magnanimously, "Not like magic weapons fall into your lap every day." As Seraphin begins looting, Thrall tears some fabric off the side of a caravan and uses it to bundle up Lief's head, giving it a shake first to try and get the excess blood off.
[15:22] <Seraphin> "Thanks," Seraphin hums, going about the business of gathering everything together, loading it onto horses, offloading bulkier goods from the horses that the bandits had taken on that wouldn't be of use to them, and grabbing purses.
[15:24] <Rachel> So the grisly work of looting and head-storing goes on, the two taking a while to pack up the equipment and merchandise before prodding the wagons slowly back towards Saradush! It's dark when they get back, a different guard raising an eyebrow. "That looks like Mathias' caravan," he says, glancing at one of the symbols. "What happened? Where are the guards?"
[15:24] * Thrall ties up the horses in a line so they'll be easily coralled back to Saradush. Noticing the dead merchants and guards, he calls over to Seraphin, "No survivors. Think we might as well take the caravan back and see if we can get a reward from whomever sent it out."

[15:27] <Rachel> "Ah," says the guard. "Good work, then... damn. No survivors? Well, either way, you must report to the captain of the guard right away," he says. "You'll find him in the barracks- probably just waking up from last nights drink. Bah!"
[15:27] <Thrall> "He wasn't quick enough," Thrall rumbles in dark amusement, holding up the decapitated head still wrapped in rags. "Where's Mathias? Might as well return his caravan to him and see if there's a reward."
[15:28] <Rachel> "I'll see the caravan returns to Mathias," says the guard. "I wouldn't count on much of a reward- he's just lost a group of guards, and probably money on this trip, already."
[15:30] <Thrall> "Bah, fine then," Thrall shakes his head. "Got enough from the bandits, and this head is worth 500 gold." Spurring his horse and tugging on the rope to guide the bandits' horses, he heads into the city proper.
[15:31] <Rachel> Quiet- Saradush isn't much of a party town, as you're quite aware of by now. The inn, with it's stables, is near the main street, but the barracks is away to one corner, taking up a good chunk of the space within the walls.
[15:31] * Seraphin follows along, her eyes still a slightly cloudy shade of red rather than the normal bright crystal red, and an almost dreamy smile of contentment on her face as she rides into the city.
[15:32] * Thrall seems in fairly good spirits himself, his single wound from the battle only bothering him a little as he stops by the barracks, dismounting and tying his horse to a hitching post, then doing the same with the lead bandit horse.
[15:33] <Rachel> Some soliders glance at you as you hitch up your horses. "What's your business here, half-orc?" says one, eyeing you distrustfully.
[15:34] <Thrall> "Come to collect a bounty," Thrall replies, well enough used to this sort of reaction for it to slide right off. "Lief the Quick's worth 500 gold, isn't he?" he grins, holding up his crimson stained bundle.
[15:34] * Seraphin dismounts, strangely relaxed for a normally tense and aware tiefling.
[15:35] <Rachel> "Y'killed Lief, huh?" replies the guard, nodding. "Hand over your weapons, and head in to see the captain," he says, another soldier coming forward to take your arms.
[15:36] * Thrall reaches to pull his greataxe from its harness and hand it over to the guard. "Don't drop it," he rumbles warningly.
[15:36] <Rachel> The guard takes the axe, weighing it carefully. "Hah! With this monster, I'd probably kill someone by accident if I did," he snorts, another soldier approaching Seraphin.
[15:37] * Seraphin twitches a moment, but unbuckles her swordbelt, and the dagger brace attached to it to hand over.
[15:38] <Rachel> "Now, these. Respectable civilian weapons," nods the solider, standing aside. "Pass through. Second story, first door to the left from the stairs."
[15:39] <Thrall> "Thanks," Thrall nods, heading on inside as per the directions.
[15:39] <Seraphin> "Be back soon..." Seraphin murmurs to her weapons, patting them and heading in.
[15:40] <Rachel> "Weird couple," you hear just behind you. "Wonder if they're.. nah." Jokes aside, you soon find yourselves outside a closed door- deep voices coming from within.
[15:41] * Thrall raps on the door, careful not to have his spiked knuckles get stuck.
[15:41] <Rachel> The voices abruptly stop. A moment passes, and then, "Come in," comes a voice, sounding strained.
[15:42] <Thrall> Pushing the door open, Thrall strides in, looking over who's present to try and determine which is likely to be the captain.
[15:43] * Seraphin follows Thrall's lead. Half orcs are so much more imposing than tiny little tieflings....even if she could gut every one of them around here. Or so she tells herself.

[15:44] <Rachel> It's a no-brainer, really- there's a desk, behind which stands a human in plate mail, his eyes glaring at you. The other figure present is a dwarf, also clad in plate, beard obscuring most of his face. A notched axe hangs on his belt, one that would look too big for him, if it wasn't for his stout frame.
[15:45] <Rachel> "What can I do for you?" asks the human, appraising you both, suspciously. The dwarf just looks at you- especially at the wrapped bundle Thrall carries.
[15:45] <Thrall> "We're here to collect a bounty," Thrall glowers back at the human, tossing his bundle onto the desk.
[15:46] * Seraphin sighs a little, giving an apologetic smile for her companion's crudeness. "Lief the Quick, not quick enough."
[15:47] <Rachel> "Bounty hunters. Of course," nods the guard, unwrapping the bundle. "Lief, eh? I've been hoping to give away this bag for a while," he says, reaching under the desk and pulling out a small bag. "Hah! Not quick enough, damn right. Glad you caught him- he had a knack of knowing when to strike, and when we were tailing."
[15:48] <Thrall> "Seemed pretty oblivious to us - caught him right during the act," Thrall grins, picking up the bag and jangling it.
[15:49] <Rachel> "Guess you got lucky. Aye, those are platinum coins," he adds. "Bit lighter than yer usual gold, though if you want 'em changed, those damn clerics will help you, I've no doubt. Ye got anything else to report?"
[15:51] <Seraphin> "One of your gate guards is handling getting the caravan itself back to Marthias or someone," Seraphin shrugs. "Mmmm, unless you're interested in buying surplus horses, then not especially, I think," Seraphin snickers, looking to Thrall for confirmation on that thought.
[15:52] * Thrall nods in agreement with Seraphin. "That's about it."
[15:54] <Rachel> "Horses? Take 'em to the quartermaster," replies the guard. "Can always use more horses, 'specially seeing as most of the crown knights are holed up in the capital. Damn fools.. anyway, Jarkel, I don't think ye've anything more to say, either?" The dwarf quivers at this, but shakes his head, storming out of the room without a word.
[15:55] <Thrall> "Thanks for the money," Thrall nods again, "I'm sure Leif will look fetching on a pike," he chuckles darkly before turning and following the Dwarf back out.
[15:55] <Seraphin> "Might as well be going then," Seraphin nods, gracing the captain wth a smile. "Nice doing business with you," she adds, heading out as well.
[15:56] <Rachel> OOC: Where are you going?
[15:56] <Thrall> OOC: sell the horses and anything else we can to the quartermaster. Then back to the inn to divide the spoils?
[15:57] <Seraphin> OOC: Sounds about right.
[15:57] <Rachel> OOC: Sure. Quartermaster'll give you 75gp for each horse, including their tack and gear. That acceptable?
[15:58] <Thrall> OOC: It'll do. What about for the swords and armour?

[16:01] <Rachel> OOC: He's not so interested in them- soldiers wear plate and chain more than leather, and they all already have swords. He'll take them, for 80 gold all up.
[16:04] <Rachel> Having completed your transactions with the quartermaster, you soon find yourselves heading back to the inn. But shortly after collecting your weapons, the same dwarf who was in the office before approaches you. He looks more like an ambulatory beard than a dwarf- elaborately combed and tied hair comes down across almost his entire torso.
[16:05] * Thrall stops before mounting his steed, turning to the dwarf expectantly to see what he wants. Hopefully it'll be something that involves being paid...
[16:06] <Rachel> "Ye be bounty hunters, aye?" he asks, looking you both up and down.
[16:07] <Thrall> "That'd be right," Thrall nods grimly. "Have one you're looking to place?"
[16:07] * Seraphin shrugs a little, adjusting her weapons a bit. "After a fashion," she murmurs for herself. It's not her preffered line of work, but it'll do.
[16:08] <Rachel> "I was lookin' for the thrice-damned captain to help me," snarls the dwarf. "But if he won't, I'll gladly hire someone who will, and if ye already dragged in a noted soundrel like Lief, then I can be trustin' in ye competence.. to a degree, aye?"
[16:10] <Thrall> "I've kept the vultures well fed around here," Thrall notes with dark amusement. "What help are you looking to get... Jarkel, was it?"
[16:14] <Rachel> "Aye. Matters of a clan exile," he says, shaking his head. "Year ago, 'twas a warrior of the name Kardon Mier who did consort with those of the foulest sort, and was cast out for his trechery. I want his head, on the block or in a bag, and the Starspire Dwarves cry for it with me."
[16:15] <Seraphin> "'Foulest sort'?" Seraphin asks softly, her eyes clear and ruby red now, watching the dwarf.
[16:17] <Rachel> "Servants of the lady of darkness and treachery," says the dwarf, starting to stomp towards the inn. "Trading and aiding them, he was, hiding human criminals and those black priests within our very mountains. And at the time, we spared his life, if he were to go far away and never return. But he is still here, abusing our honor- and keeping his a name, a name now sullied with disgrace!"
[16:18] <Thrall> "And how much is your clan willing to pay for his head?" Thrall returns, dark eyes glinting as he takes his horse's reins and walks after Jarkel.
[16:19] <Seraphin> "Shar..." Seraphin murmurs to herself,tapping her jaw. Kethean had mentioned something about a cult dedicated to her nearby...
[16:19] * Seraphin follows the dwarf and THrall, guiding her horse along.
[16:22] <Rachel> "In regard alone, the price would be worth it to any dwarf," replies the dwarf. "But aye, to you, his head be worth a fire opal of the finest quality..."- he taps a clasp in his beard, a smooth red, elliptical gem, glinting slightly in the pale moonlight. "One and half again thousand pieces of gold, and my gratitude."
[16:23] * Thrall grins. "I'm interested. Tell me more about this exile of yours."
[16:23] * Seraphin nods along, smiling herself.
[16:25] <Rachel> "Hah! That's what I like to hear," nods Jarkel. "He still consorts with those priests of Shar- what took him to their side I can never phantom. A brutal warrior- aye, half-orc, you would know his type well. Know me not his skill after one year of exile... but as dangerous as him will be those Sharran fools who stand by him, if they deem him to be more useful alive."

[16:29] <Thrall> "We've heard tell of a Sharran cult in the area," Thrall rumbles thoughtfully. "But what else do you know about where he bides himself?"
[16:31] <Rachel> "He keeps on the move, knowing that our eyes are on him," replies the dwarf. "Aye, this cult would be a place to start searching- if he is there, then your task is simple. If not, then ye must track him down from there."
[16:36] <Thrall> "I think we have a deal," Thrall nods, glancing at Seraphin to see if she's still interested. Some people have weird ideas about not getting involved in fights that involve churches...
[16:37] * Seraphin nods to Thrall as he glances at her, smiling easily. "We're in," she agrees quietly.
[16:39] <Rachel> "Hah! Brilliant!" says the dwarf- you're now just outside the inn. "Ye'll recognize him easily enough- nobody forgets a beardless dwarf." He takes a step back from you both, face turning thoughtful (well, you think). "Aye, but he be a tricky foe. Ye kill him and I'll be waitin' for ye here. He was last spotted with some local bandit group, but they all be dead, now- and aye've no doubt that his pockets are fatter for it."
[16:42] <Thrall> "Bandits are getting thin on the ground, lately," Thrall can't help but observe. "Yes, we'll start looking for this Kardon Mier on the morrow," he nods. "And bring his head back not long after that."
[16:44] * Seraphin nods, snickering to herself, and toying with her dagger. "I don't think I ever killed a dwarf before...they were never that dumb," she hums, tapping the blade against her cheek. "It should be interesting, at least."
[16:44] <Rachel> "Aye. Luck to ye'," replies the dwarf. "Ye just ask for me in the inn when you're done," he says, heading into the inn- the Second Wind, not the one with no name.
[16:46] <Seraphin> "Dwarves like Good ale too much to have ever bothered with taverns in the dock ward," Seraphin adds after the dwarf leaves, shrugging. "Back to 'home' then?" she asks, glancing at Thrall.
[16:47] <Thrall> "They die like anyone else," Thrall notes to Seraphin after Jarkal departs, continuing onwards to the Inn With No Name. "But good fighters, most - learned how to hold an axe from one, myself..." Shaking his head and distantly wondering what became of that sadistic Duergar, he nods to Seraphin, "Yes, lets split up our take and get some rest. Today's been a good day."
[16:48] * Seraphin nods. "Probably better that I'd never tried, then," Seraphin murmurs, heading back towards their inn. "A very good day indeed."

[15:00] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> OOC: Set yourselves up, all of Saradush, and indeed Faerun, is open to you!
[15:06] <Thrall> The following day, Thrall and Seraphin make their way to the temple of Waukeen to purchase supplies and find out if that fancy sword they looted is magical in any way. The tall half-orc walks beside his shorter tiefling companion as they head for the mercantile temple, forgoing his armour for a simple shopping trip and dressed in a simple tunic and pants. "Anything in particular you think we should pick up for this job?" he asks offhandedly.
[15:09] <Seraphin> "Mmm..." Seraphin hums, toying with a knife and wearing what she always does--darkly colored tunic and pants, but probably with her armor underneath.Eyeing her business partner critically, Seraphin shakes her head. "I'd say more than one invisibility potion, but I'm not it'd matter when you're wearing all that plate..."
[15:12] <Thrall> "True enough, they'll hear me a ways off. But I'd rather wear it and be expected than find myself caught in a fight without it," Thrall reasons. "Could use a few more healing potions... and a thunderstick if we're going to face any Sharran clerics would be handy."

[15:17] <Seraphin> "Mhm..." Seraphin nods, humming softly as the pair walk towards the temple of Waukeen. "And...the evil ward potions," Seraphin adds softly, nodding. "As long as we're hunting Sharrans..."
[15:18] <Thrall> "Good idea," Thrall smiles grimly. "Nice to know in advance we'll definitely be able to rely on that kind of magic."
[15:23] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> The smiling clerics of Waukeen are more than happy to take a silver piece from each of you, as you enter their extravagant temple. "Welcome, lady. Welcome, sir," the one at the gate greets, not batting an eyelid at Thrall, even in full armour. "Here, what you seek is only a few coins away. How can we help you?"
[15:31] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> Some shopping later, the duo still has business in the temple, but getting spells cast is a little more involved than merely buying a few potions and trinkets. Not that there's a shortage of clerics around... who knew so many people worshipped money?
[15:36] * Seraphin goes looking for the youngest, greenest, most bored and money desperate cleric of Waukeen she can find.

[15:38] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> It's not so easy to tell. They've all be trained to be smiling, confident, and somehow approchable. Seraphin can't really tell the mood of one from another, especially in all the bustle of the temple marketplace.
[15:46] * Seraphin settles on the youngest looking, non-elven cleric to ask this off, approaching them with the request.
[15:47] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> The cleric bows to you, quite happy to take 60gp away in return for expenditure of his magical energy.
[15:48] <Seraphin> Seraphin breathes a small sigh of relief, having heard horror stories about snobby clerics and their inflated prices, laying out the bare sword to be inspected.
[15:49] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> "It's magical," replies the cleric, appraising it. "Or, rather, the jewels are," he adds. "I'm not sure of the nature of the enchantment, but the jewels are somehow enhancing your weapon. Theoretically, they could be removed, and they would still retain their potency... well, to be honest, this is just conjecture on my part."
[15:51] * Seraphin nods, smiling for her part. "Thank you," she offers, heading off to find...a weapons dealer! While she likes her weapons, Seraphin is a professional, and trading tools for better ones is a part of the trade.
[15:52] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> After a bit of poking around, Seraphin finds that the best price she can get for her old sword is just 200gp- after all, it *has* seen lots of use since it's creation.
[15:55] * Seraphin hedges slightly, knowing she won't really get a better price anywhere, but woe to part with a weapon she's spilled so much blood with. Finally she does, though, giving up the old tool for a new one, and finished with her shopping.
[15:57] <Thrall> Returning to the inn to don his armour and pick up the rest of his gear, Thrall meets Seraphin at the stables before the two ride out of Saradush towards the Sharran cell Kethean told the mayor about when they started working for him.
[15:59] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> The Sharran Cell isn't that far out of town- barely a couple hours ride, if that. From the notes you have, entering the cell involves travelling through an underground cave, somewhere within a small, lightly wooded area. And sure enough, Thrall and Seraphin soon ride into such a place.
[16:00] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> Autumn came early here- leaves fall from the trees, fluttering to the groud without a care, and there's a folorn feeling of loss that hangs across those empty branches.
[16:02] <Thrall> Finding the cave, Thrall guides his mount around to the far side of the entrance before tying it to a tree and leaving the horse to graze. "Rather than just charge in blind, how about we wait and see if anyone leaves and ask them a few questions?" he suggests to Seraphin.
[16:04] * Seraphin nods, finding a similar place for her horse, out of sight to watch. "Mm," she agrees easily, drawing the shortsword, and inspecting the gems curiously to pass the time.
[16:04] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> The gems glitter softly in the sunlight, perhaps reflecting the magic locked within. OOC: Are you actually hiding, or just hanging around outside?

Someone is coming out of the cave... a woman, dressed in black robes and a pale face- long, silky black hair, and an almost whimsical expression as she starts to move...

[16:15] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> The woman starts to walk, slowly, back in the direction of Saradush.
[16:17] <Thrall> "Let her get a bit away from the cave and then we can run her down on horseback?" Thrall suggests, slowly starting to move back towards their steeds.
[16:17] * Seraphin smiles a little. "Intercept her on the way?" she asks quietly, glancing at Thrall.
[16:18] * Thrall nods, waiting another moment for the woman to get further away before he unties his horse and mounts it, waiting for Seraphin to do the same.
[16:20] <GM-Hat-And-Cloak> The woman slowly walks through the forest, pausing for a moment to catch and crumple a leaf before continuing on.

[14:51] <Thrall> "We know that Dwarf is there, now. He likely won't stick around after this, though," Thrall growls, a low and guttural sound. "Besides, that bitch wanted to sacrifice me to her stupid Goddess. I'm not resting till every one of them is dead."
[14:55] <Seraphin> "True enough..." Seraphin murmurs, shrugging. "Ah well..." she hums. "We should at least check the mage's body for useful items."
[14:55] <Thrall> "You do that," Thrall says, readying his axe as they emerge on the other side of the Darkness. "I'll wait for any to follow us..."
[14:56] <Seraphin> "Right," Seraphin murmurs, dismounting and heading over to the nearby dead mage's corpse, checking it over like any professional looter.
[14:58] <TheNpcSays> And Seraphin finds a few things! The mage had a pouch with several bound scrolls in it- good quality paper, the kind she would enjoy using in her previous profession. There's also a holy symbol of Shar- a plain black disc on a chain! A well-crafted dagger rounds out the collection, hilt studded with a single, small black gem... but there's no gold, nor a spellbook to be found.
[14:59] * Seraphin checks for absolutely anything else. Bracers, belt, circlet, magicked looking boots...

[15:03] <Seraphin> "Scrolls and a dagger is all," Seraphin reports, stowing the scrolls, and slipping the dagger into her now unused sheath amidst the others.
[15:05] <Thrall> "Probably a lot more in the temple," Thrall murmurs, clenching his axe tightly and wishing his strength would return. Damnable magic... Well, he's still got plenty of bite for the first Sharran fool to blunder out of the Darkness looking for trouble.
[15:05] <TheNpcSays> They don't seem to be following you out. Funny, that.
[15:05] <TheNpcSays> In fact, you can't hear or see a thing out of the ordinary, darkness aside. It's like the wood was when you first found it, apart from the corpse and spell... empty and quiet.
[15:20] <TheNpcSays> A short while later, Thrall can feel his strength returning to him, his axe becoming light in his hands again, his armour no longer such a terrible weight.
[15:22] <Thrall> "Alright," Thrall grins, hefting his weapon. "Now its time to deal out some payback." Glancing towards Seraphin and backing away from the Darkness. "I think our best bet is to get some more distance and then circle around to come at them from the other direction."
[15:24] * Seraphin nods, sheathing the dagger she'd been playing with in the mean time. "Mmm," she agrees softly. "Sounds like a plan."
[15:25] <Thrall> Spurring his horse, Thrall starts at a swift canter back up the road towards Saradush, glancing back once they're far enough away from the Darkness to see past its sides.
[15:26] * Seraphin follows the more experienceed field worker. Who knew that fighting out in the wilderness like this could be so complicated? Really!

[15:34] <TheNpcSays> Even with both of them looking, neither Seraphin nor Thrall can see anything unusual, but they're getting closer to the rear side of the cave. It's hard to tell if the guards are actually still there- you can't see anything from this angle, at any rate.
[15:39] * Thrall lines up his horse up some ways behind the cave entrance. "Feel like trying to sneak up and see what's still down there, or shall we just charge in?" Thrall quietly asks his partner.
[15:39] * Seraphin pulls up a ways away, whispering. "We should secure the horses out of general sight...and I should probably go scouting," she murmurs, shaking her head. "I'll start screaming curses in Infernal if I need back up."
[15:40] <Thrall> "Right," Thrall nods dubiously, staying on horseback as Seraphin ties hers up. Might as well make use of it for mopping up any that happen to still be outside, if it comes to that...
[15:44] * Seraphin starts off in the direction of the cave liptrying to keep her hair under the dark hood of her cloak, sneaking up to see if anyone's by the entrance, from behind.

[17:00] * Seraphin takes a breather once they're a distance away, glancing at Thrall. "Honestly? I thought you were good as dead too," she admits, shaking her head.
[17:02] * Thrall nods wearily, bloodied and battered as he hunches down in the saddle, replacing his axe in its harness. "Underestimated them," he grimaces. "Hate to leave an enemy at my back, but..." Shaking his head, "At least we got those scrolls?"
[17:04] * Seraphin pats her saddlebag. "Indeed we did," she agrees, smiling a little. "We'll come back, a little mroe prepared," she hums, shrugging.
[17:08] <Thrall> "After a few day's rest," Thrall decides firmly. "And some magical healing on top of that... haven't taken a beating this bad in months."
[17:10] * Seraphin nods, slumping a little in her saddle, and carefully removing gauze from her bags to at least get in the way of ehr bleeding knife wound. "Mmm," she agrees, blowing at her bangs. "I was actually disappointed at the thought of someone else dyuing," she snickers. "How novel."
[17:14] <Usagi-> "I'm touched," the half-orc deadpans. "Though I really am grateful - going down to a mob of stupid cultists is no way to die."
[17:16] * Seraphin snorts at the first part, rolling her eyes. "You're nice to work with is all," she murmurs, smiling. "Quite, though there are worse ways."
