Discuss the series here.

Dracos

Well, Goodbye.

Liddo-kun

Jigoku Shojo (roughly: Maiden of Hell) is a series of one-shots involving this mysterious girl of unnatural origin and her equally supernatural comrades.  They provide a special service that only they can provide: retribution, at the cost of your soul.

At the strike of midnight a particular web page opens up where you can put the name of someone who you want punished -- dragged kicking and screaming into the depths of Hell.  Once the transaction is confirmed with a mouse click, you're visited by the Hell Maiden who explains the mechanics of her service.  She tells you that if you accept your soul will be taken to Hell upon your death.

A simple straw effigy is then given to you with a red ribbon tied upon it.  When you want your vengeance unleashed on your target you untie the string and the deal is struck.

Pretty much every episode follows in that pattern.  The only variation is with the circumstances, manner, and reason in which each bargain is struck.  It is rather formulaic, but I still found it rather interesting.

Might not be your cup of tea, but you could give it a shot.  Jigoku Shojo Futakomori is the second season of the series, I'd note.
Liddo-kun: Bjorn is the rain gutter in which all the dirty thoughts of humanity flow into?
Bjorn: I prefer, instead, to think of myself as the crap that blocks the rain gutters, causing the dirty thoughts of humanity to back up, fill the streets, and flood your basements.

Personally I skipped to the part where these two characters, a journalist by the name of Hajime and his daughter Tsugumi, were introduced. It's a decision I have yet to regret from everything I've read and heard. Those two are far more interesting than the main girl could ever hope to be. Hell it's Enma Ai's, the Jigoku Shoujo aka Hell Girl of the series, connection to them that is easily the most interesting part of the show in my not so humble opinion.

If you decide to watch from the beginning be prepared for a lot of repetition. For the record I should note that it is Hajime and Tsugumi that add a feeling of continuity to the series. Without those two the series would be episodic tripe if you ask me. Those two pretty much MADE the series watchable. Hell not just watchable, enjoyable.

Sincerely,
Shuten

Edit: I should note that my comments refer specifically to the first series. As of the time of this message I have yet to watch any episodes of the current series this thread is dedicated to.

I wonder what would happen if Kira were to type "L"?
