6x 4d6 (drop lowest each time). You get to roll 2 sets and pick which one you like most. Obviously I'll need to be present for the rolling - I suggest #dunes be used for now, since that'll probably be the channel the game runs in, anyway.

EDIT: If your total stat mods on chargen come to less than +5. you are entitled to another reroll.

Then it's max HP at first level and rolling after that - no rerolls allowed for HP. You can elect to take the average HP for your hit dice if you choose - obviously this decision can't be made after you roll, though.

Starting gold for level 3 PCs is 3000gp. No restrictions on what you spend it on.

No bonus items - what you buy is what you get.

Race and religon will be of varying import depending on where you go and how big a deal you make of it. The Faerun setting is pretty cosmopolitan, as a rule.

How heavy do you want us to be with backgrounds? Is there anything you'd like us to avoid? Anything you want us to include? Will the game essentially be defined by the characters we create, and their stories, or should we be designing for a certain sort of adventure?

Well, I'm flexible on the adventure, but your characters should want to adventure.

While the motivation could range from greed to heroism to a simple desire to do stuff for the experience (nyuk nyuk) of it should be in there. And since a lot of the adventures will have you guys really far from civilisation (most ancient ruins and stuff aren't buried under the city, despite a few well known exceptions, and they tend to be well plundered), so you guys should be comfortable in a wilderness setting, even if you might prefer the comforts and intrigue of a big city.

It'd be cool if you guys all knew each other as part of your background, but I can deal if not.
