[00:17] <Carthrat> A week floats by peaceable. Re'Laizary gets noticably more antsy every passing day, spending much of her time pacing and glancing out the window. Lucia, despite her earlier words, doesn't seem to have quite decided to leave just yet. Dorrin, on the other hand, suddenly remembered something he had to do, and was forced for reasons unknown to leave the inn, taking all of his magic and valuables with him. What a shame.
[00:22] <Carthrat> It's around the same time he left that the party seems to have a visitor. The inn lacks other patrons, which means there's only one group of people a young, pretty-faced woman could be looking for. Clad in a travelling cloak, red hair and giant, loopy earrings dominating her features, the innkeeper sidles up to the party, in the lounge; "Woman here to see you," he says, gruffly. "Says she's heard of you, wants to hire you or something."

[00:24] <Grendel> "Send her over, then," Grendel gestures at an empty chair. "Let's hear what she has to say."
[00:27] <Carthrat> In short order she is there, looking about and humming with some cheer. "Hello! My name's Siale Me'sentar; I've just popped over from the Stiltain guild, looking for some help. Ummmm... well, I've got a little proposition for you, I think you might like it, I just hope I can afford your services..."

[00:30] * Maz perks up at the mention of money, but keeps silent in the safety of her cloak.
[00:31] <Grendel> "What's the proposition?" Grendel asks, leaning his elbows on the table, "We can discuss payment once we know what you want."
[00:34] <Carthrat> "Errr, anyway, right, right," she continues, setting a polished black staff down. "Yes, certainly. I'm here on behalf of a friend; she's wandering around the world, trying to put together components for a project of hers. Now, I'm not sure exactly what it's for, but it's really the most eclectic set of things, and one of them is a kind of special, ancient gemstone, called the Djinn's Wish."
[00:36] <Carthrat> "I did some homework," she continues, taking out a small notebook and flipping busily through the pages. "And I've figured out where one might be; mounted in the circlet worn by an ancient Calishite king, Ill-Alin the 3rd, presently resting in a pyramid, a few days travel to the north. Now, ah... I know you're not from around Calimshan, which is *exactly* why I'd like to hire you to come along for my.. um.. excavation, lets call it."
[00:37] <Carthrat> it."
[00:38] <Grendel> "No one from around here is stupid enough to poke their head in his tomb?" Grendel assumes flatly.
[00:40] <Carthrat> "Well, nobody who works for the honest and up-front Stiltain's Guild, anyway," she mutters, darkly. "All the Calishite adventurers have some kind of national pride, it's so *aggravating*."
[00:41] <Carthrat> Lucia mumbles something about Tethyr, but you can't hear her very well.
[00:43] <Maz> "And the opposition we are to face, should we take on the job?"
[00:44] <Carthrat> "That's a really good question," she replies, pursing her lips. "Mummies, I think. The pyramid is probably filled with all sorts of weird traps and whatnot. Oh, well, that's why I'm hiring you, after all! I'll be coming with you, of course. Oh, but the pyramid is probably full of all sorts of wonderful things, I don't really want them, though, so you're free to anything we find there, aside from the Wish."
[00:45] <Carthrat> "Oh, payment, of course; would seven-fifty for each of you be appropriate? I can't spare much more, sadly, unless you were willing to wait quite some time."
[00:46] <Maz> "Mummies, how annoying," Maz mumbles.
[00:49] <Grendel> "Don't think I've ever met one," Grendel looks thoughtful for a moment before just shaking his head. "Still, we could use the money, I think."
[00:50] <Maz> "We don't really need the money, but if you're bored, we could go for this," Maz muses in response.
[00:54] <Grendel> "Well, maybe not need, but it wouldn't hurt. Besides, there might be more interesting things at the pyramid beside this Djinn's Wish," Grendel decides.
[00:56] <Carthrat> "So you'll come along?" asks Siale, giving Grendel a critical look.
[00:57] <Grendel> "Could be a good experience," Grendel smiles darkly. "What do the rest of you think?"
[00:59] <Maz> "We might as well, I can't say no to money. Even though... mummies." Maz makes a face.
[01:01] <Carthrat> "'scour doesn't work on undead critters..." mutters Re'Laizary, giving the weapon a baleful look.
[01:01] <Seraphin> "Use flaming arrows, of the mundane variety," Seraphin suggests wryly, shrugging. "Money's money and spoiuls are spoils."
[01:03] <Carthrat> "If I was fast enough to set fire to my arrows before shooting them in the middle of a fight... oh, the wonders I could create!"
[01:04] <Carthrat> Siale looks strangely pleased by the banter. "Well, then! I'm ready to leave right now, but what about you?" she asks, glancing around.
[01:06] <Maz> "Three days should be enough to conclude our business here for the time being," Maz muses.
[01:07] <Carthrat> "Hmm. Alright, I'll come back then," she replies, nodding to herself as she leaves.

[01:12] <Carthrat> Siale returns as promised, boldly setting out to lead the group somewhere far to the north! The trip is mostly uneventful... she seems to either not notice or not care that she's in the company of a group of tieflings, and spends a lot of time chatting with Lucia about magic. Well, perhaps she prefers human company, who knows?
[01:15] <Carthrat> After two days of dusty travel, the group finally reaches a massive pyramid, built out of smooth yellow slabs and poking high into the sky. "Hmm. According to my notes, the door is on the edge somewhere," states Siale, looking quite natural in the desert air. "Just over.. there, I think," she continues, riding up alongside the pyramid. "Ms. Noire, I think this is your area of expertise..."
[01:16] * Maz engages her magical sight in the meanwhile, calmly observing the others from the safety of fifty feet.
[01:16] <Carthrat> Apart from Seraphin's enchanted gear, Maz can't detect any magical mayhem.
[01:17] <Grendel> As everyone prepares to enter the pyramid, Grendel takes a moment to transform himself into a rather hideous looking troll, producing a chain shirt from... somewhere, on his person and donning it before his clothes shift to once more wrap around him almost completely, saving everyone the trouble of beholding his currently quite gruesome visage.
[01:17] * Maz resolves to follow Seraphin at said distance, so she would be able to spot any mischief in time.
[01:20] * Grendel stays fairly near Seraphin, waiting for her to open up the pyramid and also producing his staff from a physically improbable location, which swiftly transforms into a viciously barbed heavy flail.
[01:20] <Seraphin> "Only vaguely," Seraphin admits, dismoiunting as she moves up to the wall, the tips of ehr swords tapping and probing while she searches for the door, or its opening mechanism...or any mechanism, really.

[01:22] <Carthrat> Seraphin finds the 'opening mechanism' pretty easily; it's really just a stone you can press into the pyramid. She notes something strange, too; somebody seems to have used it recently. It's hard to tell exactly when, could be in the manner of days or weeks, but these things are more likely than not to be undisturbed for centuries...
[01:24] <Seraphin> "Someone's been here ahead of us," Seraphin informs the others, pressing the stone with one blade. "Relatively recently...weeks at most."
[01:25] * Maz merely raises an eyebrow, glancing at Siale. "Competition?"
[01:25] <Grendel> "Anyone else looking for this Djinn's Wish?" Grendel asks, his voice sounding comparatively normal despite his current form.
[01:26] <Carthrat> Siale flinches a little. "Might be. A Djinn's Wish is pretty valuable... but I haven't told anyone but you about it's presence here. Some tomb-raiding yahoos might've got here before us!"
[01:28] <Grendel> "Well, maybe they got killed by Mummies before getting to it?" Grendel offers supportively.
[01:30] <Korin> "Hopefully after clearing out some of them for us," Korin adds.
[01:31] <Carthrat> "I can only hope," she replies, as Seraphin presses the stone. Instantly several bricks swing aside, opening a dark, wide passage through which to walk. Siale goes in first, glancing about almost in wonder, and your darkvision helps you see that the corridor seems to stretch out a fair distance ahead. (Except for Grendel and Lucia, who are virtually blind.) There are additional corridors to the left and right
[01:32] <Carthrat> though they are much thinner than the main path. The walls seem decorated with Calishite paintings and imagery, primarily of a tall, bright-eyed man, wearing a shining circlet and carrying a blazing axe.
[01:32] * Grendel casts Low Light Vision in hopes of improving his visual situation.
[01:32] <Carthrat> Grendel's spell would aid if there was any light inside at all, excluding from the entrance. There, uh, isn't, so he can now only see *slightly* better.
[01:33] <Carthrat> Lucia has a different solution to her visual problems, and is holding a glowing stone in scant seconds...
[01:33] * Grendel stays close to Lucia!
[01:34] * Maz motions for her sister to stay nearby, having informed her of the flame arrows spell in advance.
[01:36] <Carthrat> "Um, yes. I think we should be heading forward," says Siale, with a start. "Ms. Noire, if you would.. um, check things..."
[01:36] <Carthrat> The corridor extends beyond your sixty feet of darkvisual sight...
[01:36] * Maz uses the opportunity to connect herself to the others with Message.
[01:36] <Carthrat> ...of course, Lucia helps matters a great deal. (Are you connecting yourself to Siale, too?)
[01:37] <Maz> OOC: Nah
[01:38] <Seraphin> "This is why I hate dungeons..." Seraphin sighs, stepping ahead, and beginning to tap, probe, and check for traps as they head forward.

[01:38] * Hatbot --> "Seraphin rolls 1d20+15 and gets 25."12 [1d20=10]
[01:39] <Carthrat> Every twenty feet, virtually, Seraphin locates another trap... that is disabled. It's as if someone else came through and deliberately set them to be turned off. The corridor itself seems to be a hundred feet long; she finds a trap that causes flames to shoot from the walls, a trap that fires poisonous needles (from the walls), a trap that causes a boulder to fall out the roof (have you seen this before?)
[01:42] <Carthrat> , a trap that causes the spikes to shoot out the floor, and one that seems to spew out some kind of gas into the room. They're all activated by stepping on large stone slabs, it seems, which are difficult to avoid (though not impossible, if you can jump fifteen feet.)
[01:42] * Grendel checks the two paths that branch left and right off the main corridor, looking to see if anything interesting lies down them.
[01:44] <Carthrat> At the left corner, Grendel sees some kind of structure build into the edge of the pyramid. Aside from that, both corridors have two turns that lead deeper into the pyramid; one at the corner, and one between the centre and the corner.
[01:44] <Seraphin> "So it seems our adventurer friends have cleared the path for the most part..." Seraphin murmurs, pointing out all the deadly items to her companions with disturbing casualnesscontinuing down the path unless directed otherwise.
[01:45] * Grendel pauses the examine the structure, wondering what it could be.
[01:48] <Carthrat> "Ah, right. Good for them," mutters Siale, absently. She stops at the end of this corridor, which is roughly fourty feet wide. It meets a large, ebony wall, carved with majestic images of the process of mummification, right down to the scooping-out of brains.
[01:49] <Carthrat> You seem to have reached another four-way intersection. In the centre of the wall, the passage continues, albeit in a much smaller fashion; a five-foot wide path instead of the larger one you've been heading down now. To the left and right are similar passages, albeit built out of yellow rock rather than black metal.
[01:50] <Carthrat> Grendle finds that the structure seems to be built out the wall. It possesses a large door and little else.
[01:51] * Maz prepares a mental map of the structure, though she doesn't take any actual initiative in the exploration process.
[01:51] * Grendel catches up with the others - they can investigate the door later.
[01:54] <Carthrat> Siale starts to walk down the corridor ahead, as if she knows where she's going. "Down here, I think, is the *key* to the central tomb," she says, glancing behind you. "Um, please stay close by; I think that my taking it, we may activate some of the remaining defences, if it isn't gone already. So, if you have any special defences or the like to activate, like I do, now could be a good time."

[01:56] * Grendel hefts his magical flail, looking about warily in readiness for potential mayhem at Siale's words.
[01:56] <Maz> "Sure thing!" Maz happily agrees, and makes fifty arrows extra flamy, handing most to Relly and the remainder to Korin. She then claps, and several doubles of her appear.

[01:56] <Carthrat> Siale casts a couple of spells, too, and likewise splits into several images...

[01:58] * Korin takes the arrows and likewise stands prepared for trouble.
[01:58] * Seraphin digs into her pocket and keeps her opal on hand, poised but not in place just yet as they continue forwards.
[01:58] <Carthrat> Aside from that, though, she creates no visible effect. "Now, I think any.. THINGS that appear will come from the side corridors, but if they're undead, I think they'll be pretty stupid and just shamble towards us. So we could use this long, thin corridor to our advantage," she says, gesturing at it. "Whoever is the strongest fighter could stand at the front, while other people could get behind him... hmm." [02:00] <Maz> "Try not to die before we get paid," Maz tells her cheerfully.
[02:00] <Carthrat> "Mmmhmm. Well, I've really hired you to prevent that sad state," she mumbles, starting to walk to the end of the short corridor. "Ms. Noire?"

[02:02] * Grendel positions himself ready to guard the long corridor, since his current form is melee focused.
[02:03] * Maz decides to stick near the center of their group, so she'd be ready to assist whomever finds him or herself in the most trouble.
[02:04] <Carthrat> Seraphin can't find any weird traps before the end of the corridor, where Siale already stands, in front of what appears to be a series of runes, on a wall. "Ah... here we go," she comments, glancing over them.
[02:06] <Seraphin> "I can't find any, I'm not fullproof, though," Seraphin shrugs, giving a wry smile. "This isn't my specialty," she provides, stepping back to let Siale do as she pleases.
[02:10] <Carthrat> "Quite..." she replies, tapping at the wall, pressing the runes in a particular order. "Yes, I suppose I'm quite lucky that's the case, really," she muses. A heavy, metal portcullis slams down behind Seraphin, trapping her next to the magely woman! A series of holes opens up behind the runes, and you hear a whistling sound; but nothing comes out. If there was a trap here, it seems to have been a dud. (More.)
[02:11] <Carthrat> Behind you, though, back in the main corridor, you hear a series of clicks and whistles, indicating that the traps behind have been reset. Siale lets loose a heavy sigh, before her form ripples and changes, transforming into a figure that you've seen only once before, in a sleepy oasis village out in the middle of the Tetyhr desert.
[02:15] * Seraphin lets her gem clack into place, turning on the woman with a low hiss.
[02:16] <Carthrat> "Disabling this trap was the last thing my own sneak ever did," she says, in a tepid voice. "And setting us up here will be the last thing *you* ever do, Fearlorn," growls Re'Laizary. Brave words, but the bars on the portcullis are far too thin to allow arrows to shoot through. "Yes, yes, very good, Nebes. Ah, you may want to reconsider, Noire. Setting off this thing really *did* release a horde of undead mummies, I'm afraid."
[02:16] <Carthrat> "To put it kindly, your friends don't really have a prayer. Unless, of course, I tell them how to disable everything and find a way out... which depends entirely on *your* cooperation."
[02:18] <Seraphin> "I guess since you're not Calishite...I'm not 'Noire', I'm Zephaeriel," Seraphin growls out slowly, though the opal is pulled from her sword, for now. "What in the nine hells do you want, then?"

[02:22] <Carthrat> "You," she replies, flatly. "Teleport doesn't work unless all participants are willing, and I don't have another badge. I need your consent." She gestures around. "Princess. I'm sorry for you, but it seems your time has come. Sarya calls, and I'm forced to answer. So are you. Since taking your group on by force is... an unlikely proposition, this ruse was required." She (all four of her) withdraw a sheaf of parchment.
[02:22] <Carthrat> Holding it tantalizingly, before dropping it on the ground and placing a foot on it. "This paper contains instructions on how to not die. If you want your companions to get it... consent to the spell I cast."
[02:23] <Carthrat> From elsewhere in the pyramid, a low moan echoes out...
[02:24] <Maz> "We probably won't die," Maz whispers to Seraphin. "She herself admits it would be difficult to take us by force. Only question is, can you hang in there alone with her?"
[02:26] * Grendel snarls. "Betrayal..." he glowers, producing a potion of Bull's Strength and drinking it before he turns and stalks back towards the portcullis.
[02:28] * Seraphin smiles in a twisted, wry expression, fangs baring. "Disabling this trap was the last thing your sneak ever did," she murmurs, tapping her blades against her legs. "You're a fiendling...tell me why exactly, I should give myself up, when frankly, I have no evidence that your scrap of parchment will have anything useful on it at all? Evidence seems to support you'd rather just have them die."
[02:29] <Carthrat> "I could just kill them all from here, disable the traps, knock you out, and drag you by hand," she replies. "But Hellgate Keep is so far away, and teleporting is much easier."
[02:31] <Grendel> Dropping his flail as he reaches the portcullis, Grendel's form suddenly twists and expands as he suddenly transforms himself into a hideous fully grown troll! "Get ready to shoot her," he mutters to his companions, reaching down to grap the bottom of the portcullis and lift it up!

I've been dead before, what you're suggesting doesn't sound horribly more painful than dragging myself out of my own grave," she snorts, her blades lashing out at the woman's legs.

[02:49] <Carthrat> Lucia mutters an incantation under her breath, bringing down Mystra's blessing upon the party! Sorely needed, too, as a pair of disgusting, bandage-clothed creatures stagger towards the end of the corridor! (Korin?)
[02:50] <Korin> As the first mummy makes it appearance, Korin swivels to aim directly at it and releases the arrow.

[03:05] <Carthrat> Virtually everyone else finds themselves stuck to the webby strands, Korin no exception. While he can see the mummies, he knows his arrows just won't get through. And moving is a hassle to boot...
[03:11] <Korin> "Maz, can you get rid of this webbing?" Korin asks, as he debates setting his immideate area on fire to free himself.
[03:12] <Maz> "It is in the realm of possible," she agrees, preparing to do just that.

[03:13] * Maz drops her concentration, keeping the stuck parchment where it is for the time being, and bringing up her arcane power to bear against the magical web!

[01:15] * Korin shakes his head at the discussion between the two spellcasting tieflings and continues to attack mummies, as regardless of what happens, the undead need to be dealt with. Attacking one of the mummies that just attacked him, Korin deals three burning jabs at it.

[01:30] <Fearlorn> "Oh, right, just a moment," says Fearlorn, squinting, and holding out a hand.

[01:31] <Seraphin> "Betraying slimey greedy DEMON FUCKING BITCH," Seraphin adds her liveliness to the matter, following with a stream of more curses appropriate to the situation as she tangles with Maz.
[01:31] <Fearlorn> A black ray manages to expertly miss Seraphin, Maz, and everything, *spanging* off the wall. "Bah, I'm so careless... I do hope you're not having me on, it's really your death sentence..."
[01:34] <Seraphin> With a toss, Seraphin throws Maz off her, conveniently in the direction of the side hallways, tearing off at a speed enhanced by her boots to follow the others!
[01:35] <Fearlorn> "What are you doing, aren't the rest of you going to stop her? Bah, you're either useless or lying, Nebes... hardly matters, now," she swears, shaking her head reluctantly.
[01:35] <Maz> "Damn you!" Maz curses, shaking her fist at Seraphin. "My money! Get back here!"
[01:36] <Fearlorn> Relly just shakes her head, staggering after Seraphin, as does Lucia (after picking herself off the ground). Fearlorn doesn't look like she's buying a word of it anymore, turning briefly back to the rune console behind her.
[01:37] * Maz gives up the act, having nothing to gain from it now, and bolts after them.
[01:37] * Grendel likewise hurries around the corner and away from Fearlorn's lightning bolts, taking out his wand once he's no longer in line of sight of the evil betraying tiefling mage.
[01:37] * Maz casts another spell of protection about her person as soon as she's away.
[01:38] <Fearlorn> Seraphin can see a corridor, around 60 feet long; halfway down it turns sharply to the right, and the same thing at the far corner. You can see three open sarcophagi lining the walls, emitting a truly terrible stench.
[01:39] <Korin> "Thanks for the entertainment, hope we get to play again," Korin says cheekily with a flourish bow in the direction of their foe before turning around and speeding after his companions.
[01:40] <Maz> "Lying is not wrong when the other option is electrocution," Maz mutters, glancing back at the intersection with a frown.
[01:54] * Seraphin takes the moment of respite to down a potion.

[02:01] <Fearlorn> You hear low moans emnate from the other side of the cavern, while Re'Laizary seems to be squinting, holding an arrow nocked towards the exit of the corridor. "Yes, well, you weren't very good with it anyway," she throws in.
[02:02] <Maz> "No more new toys for you this year," Maz grumbles.
[02:02] <Grendel> "Better with swords, anyway," Grendel agrees, using his wand on Korin before positioning himself close to the intersection, where his long troll arms can hit anyone who comes by.

[02:09] <Maz> "As many of us as possible should gang up on her," Maz agrees.
[02:09] <Fearlorn> "Um, where should I be using this?" queries Lucia, glancing at her silence scroll.
[02:10] <Maz> "How about you use this to recast your armor spell on me?" Maz asks her instead, holding out a small pearl.
[02:11] <Fearlorn> "Er, alright. Not getting hurt, best medicine, all that. Ahah. Ahahaha!" says Lucia, looking visibly shaken at their surroundings. She does as asked, at least... still no Fearlorn. Still no mummies.
[02:12] <Maz> "Fearlorn can control this place's defenses," Maz states, all armored-up now. "She likely has the undead blocking the only exit out of here. Perhaps, it's time to rethink our plan?"
[02:14] <Grendel> "I could go back and open up the portcullis again, but she'll get some free hits while I do it," Grendel notes unenthusiastically.
[02:15] <Fearlorn> "Oi, Maz. What circle is teleport?" asks Relly, suddenly.
[02:15] <Maz> "That cloud, we can't pass it," Maz says sadly.
[02:15] <Maz> "Hmm?" She blinks. "Fifth. I can only get half of us out with the scroll I have."
[02:16] <Fearlorn> "No, no, that's not it. Now, I figure, lightning bolts are just third, right? It's like she's just been playing so far, not bringing out the sharpened arrows."
[02:17] <Maz> "That much is obvious," Maz agrees. "Though she did use a fourth circle spell before."
[02:17] <Fearlorn> "So, well, I dunno. What would you do if you were her? She doesn't really want to kill us, I guess, but who knows, now..."
[02:18] <Maz> "Her staff can discharge lightning bolts, and she has undead minions. I'd actually be sending them after us to weaken us, but I guess she has more patience. Or she really wants Seraphin alive."
[02:19] <Seraphin> "I feel so flattered..." Seraphin mutters dryly, a small sigh given.
[02:20] <Maz> "You should, I gave up like fifty four thousands and five hundred gold for you," Maz states proudly.
[02:21] <Korin> "Well, you can always try and find a higher bidder," Korin comments with a straight face.
[02:22] <Maz> "Unlikely, if we all die here. Which we won't if we have a coherent plan."
[02:23] <Grendel> "She's too well protected for us to attack her right now," Grendel notes. "Between her spells and that portcullis, we'd be mincemeat before we even got to her."
[02:24] <Fearlorn> "Her spells don't last forever, she's got to come out sometime," snorts Re'Laizary. "Probably sooner rather than later, seeing the lack of mummies running around."
[02:28] <Maz> "There is a cold spell that might weaken the gate, if not destroy it outright," Maz muses. "And her strongest spell of protection should run out in a short while. We could try an assault, then use the diagram she had to take over the undead and traps."
[02:30] <Grendel> "Then let's do that," Grendel nods, taking out his healing potion and drinking it.

[02:33] <Maz> "Fearlorn has more images than I can target," Maz tells Lucia, holding out a wand of magic missiles. "Do you think you could help me target the fakes? She has a shield on, so she herself would not be hurt by you."
[02:34] <Fearlorn> "Um... do I have to? No, that's stupid, of course, Maz," says Lucia, hesitantly taking the wand, fingers fumbling over it.
[02:35] <Maz> "Have a bit of faith in my arcane knowledge, I checked her spells as she cast them," Maz tells her, before trying to target three different images of the evil witch.
[02:36] <Fearlorn> As Maz looks around the corner, she sees the following: The portcullis has been raised, the stinking cloud has vanished, and the corridor is empty.  
[02:40] <Maz> "Might as well," Maz muses, before chanting, "Wind, crimson flame. Grant the power of thunder to my hand! Lightning Bolt!" And with those words, the bolt of lightning is sent flying down the length of the corridor all the way to the control room!

[02:43] <Fearlorn> A quintet of bolts flicker out roughly from that location with a muffled curse, one smashing into each of Maz's images and rendering the spell useless! There's still so sign of Fearlorn's form, though...
[02:44] <Fearlorn> One smashes into Maz's shield, deflected easily. At least that's a blessing.
[02:45] <Maz> "Well, she's still there," Maz says with a smirk.
[02:46] <Grendel> "So now what?" Grendel asks, using his wand to heal himself a bit more. "Can we get to her?"

[02:46] <Maz> "Block her in that corridor, don't let her pass," Maz responds, blinking. "Isn't that our plan?"
[02:48] <Grendel> "I thought you were going to get rid of her images before we attacked, but I can wait just as easily," Grendel responds with a ponderous shrug.
[02:53] <Maz> Extracting a scroll from her bandoleer, Maz sets a layer of grease on the corridor starting with herself and ten feet towards Fearlorn, before darting away to stay near her sister and Lucia.
[02:56] <Korin> "Anyone have any extra potions, or healing spells to spare? Whenever we act, I wouldn't mind being back at full health if possible," Korin asks after a while of watching Maz attempt to plan how to get them all out alive.
[02:56] <Fearlorn> "Oh, healing, yes, I can do that," mumbles Lucia, tapping Korin on the shoulder with her hand.

[00:10] <Carthrat> *tink tink* it goes, making the dark corridor... darker, at least to those with darkvision. Those without it couldn't see anything much anyway, beyond the dim light coming from the far door. Lucia taps Korin on the shoulder with a wand, again, healing him that little bit more.

[00:32] <Grendel> "Uh... yes," Grendel nods, blinking a bit at the sight of the feline tiefling. "Let's deactivate those traps and get out of here," he agrees.
[00:33] * Maz cries sad feline tears of shame.
[00:36] <Seraphin> "...Right..." Seraphin sighs, glancing at the grease. "Any idea when that'll end?"
[00:36] * Grendel looks down the magicked up corridor. "Can you dispel the grease, Maz?" he asks the sad crying cat.
[00:36] * Maz waves an ear, and the grease disappears, the darkness following suit.
[00:37] * Grendel walks down the corridor to recover his weapon and lift up the portcullis if necessary so someone else can push the buttons to deactivate the traps and hopefully tell the Mummies to go to sleep.
[00:38] * Seraphin heads in with Grendels help to hopefully use that pattern of rune-things to deactivate the traps.
[00:38] <Carthrat> The portcullis is indeed back up, and the stinking cloud has vanished.
[00:39] * Grendel picks up his flail and reverts it to staff form before it vanishes into his purple pants, making way for Seraphin to do her thing.
[00:39] <Carthrat> When Seraphin inputs the commands, the door shuts.
[00:40] * Seraphin quirks her head, frowning, and trying it -again-.
[00:40] <Carthrat> The door does not open, leaving the only source of light Lucia's stone. It flickers, and goes out. (Just kidding.)
[00:41] * Maz tries to catch Relly's attention, and then points at her discarded things.
[00:41] * Korin goes grab his own earlier discarded weapon while everyone is doing that.
[00:41] <Grendel> "I think we've been had," Grendel frowns darkly at seeing their exit close off.
[00:42] <Carthrat> "Oh, man, that goddamn little whore of Levistus! When I catch up with her..." rants Re'Laizary, though her words trail off, and she audiably swallows as she begins gathering Maz's things.
[00:42] * Maz nods, and points in the direction of the main corridor, then at Seraphin.
[00:43] <Carthrat> "Come on, sis, we'll get you fixed in no time," mumbles Re'Laizary, picking her up and putting the feline mage on her shoulder.
[00:44] <Carthrat> She lurches, suddenly, starting to cough terribly.

[00:47] * Seraphin sighs, moving past the proticullis again with Grendel's help, and meeting up with the rest of the group. "Yeah, so do we get out the old fashioned way, or does Maz-kitty have a plan?"
[00:47] <Carthrat> She opens the case. "Um... eheh, eheh," she says, trying not to look too hard at the vellum.
[00:48] <Grendel> "Think you can disarm the traps?" Grendel asks, peering towards the entrance with the help of Lucia's light and his own enhanced vision. He doesn't see any mummies there so far...
[00:48] * Maz waits until they reach one of the scrolls inscribed with lesser restoration, and then points at it, and waves Lucia over.

[01:17] <Carthrat> Re'Laizary lurches up, staring at the cloud. After about ten minutes, it dissapates. "Yeah, feel free to go push the magic buttons," she mutters. "That worked real well before."
[01:17] * Seraphin stumbles back, choking and gasping for real air with nary much affect on her despite it all. "Ugh...maybe...?" she hacks.
[01:17] <Korin> "And remember, if an evil cloud of gas comes out, hold your breath!" Korin suggests, not really having much to do so long as no mummies show up.
[01:19] <Grendel> "It's either that or risk more traps going off on us," Grendel shrugs. "Unless we can bypass them..." he pauses a moment, looking down the corridor and recalling all the locations Seraphin identified earlier, pondering if they could be crept around or jumped over.
[01:21] <Carthrat> The pressure plates are rather large, about ten feet apiece. They could, in fact, be jumped over, but you'd only have enough space for a running start with the first point.

[03:23] <Carthrat> "Please, Relly, being polymorphed like that is not a pleasant experience," mutters Luc- "Don't call me Relly! That is not something you may call me!"
[03:24] <Carthrat> The bickering couple continue heading down the corridor, leaving behind markings with stones to show where the traps are.
[03:24] * Grendel shakes his head slightly. "Deja vu..." he mutters at Re'Laizary's outburst, following after the pair and hopping over the traps as they come.
[03:24] * Maz looks smug and leaps on top of Lucia's shoulder once they're past the corridor.

"Now, um.. oi, there are more," she adds, glancing around the corner. "Four. Standing around like the lone male represenative of the tiefling race. That is to say, doing nothing."
[03:28] * Korin shrugs. "At least I'm not like the female representatives. Having nothing better to do than always complain. I can see why most male tieflings go mate with human women. They've got to be less troublesome."

[03:29] <Carthrat> "Because death kind of sucks, you know, it's not fun, and there are pressure salesmen down there who try to make you go to hell."
[03:29] <Korin> "I find myself staying alive just fine following you around for now," Korin answers cheerfully. "Being behind you seems safe enough."
[03:29] * Seraphin sighs. "You two should get married," she offers, nodding, and frowning. "So...this is where we wish we had oil, to make a large wall of fire."
[03:30] <Carthrat> "And they're all... "Hey, you get benefits! We'll go rape your enemies!" Well, I'll tell you what, that's kind of hard when your enemies ARE the demons. Bah!"
[03:31] <Grendel> "Children, enough," Grendel rumbles. "Bicker all you want once we're out of this deathtrap. For now we need to either kill those Mummies or lure them into the traps. Then we have to figure out how to open the door."
[03:33] <Carthrat> "Um... well, if we had illusion magic, we could lure them in," mumbles Luci- "yeah, yeah, always with the ifs and what what-could-be, magic is so dumb. 'Oh, don't worry, I'll be useful- TOMORROW!'"
[03:33] * Maz scratches Lucia's shoulder, and nods at her collection of scrolls.
[03:34] <Carthrat> "Oh, look! I can READ! That makes me special!" grumbles Relly, as Lucia digs through the collection of scrolls. "Bah, I'm so going to kill Fearlorn. It's only fair, now that I can't kill Maz. Bah."
[03:34] * Maz looks at her sadly, as only a small house cat can
[03:36] <Carthrat> Eventually, Lucia digs out a scroll of silent image. Gingerly, she steps out into the corridor, and begins reading it. A moment later, a duplicate Re'Laizary appears, and starts dancing madly before the other four mummies, before vanishing down the original corridor.
[03:37] <Carthrat> "I really, really, really hate you," mutters the real archer, as a low roar can be heard from the corridor after the mummies head down it.
[03:38] * Grendel waits a moment for the Mummies to assumedly make their way to the other end of the corridor. Then he heads around to the intersection to see if any survived and might be interested in running back to attack him.
[03:38] <Korin> "You hate everyone, what's new about that?" Korin mutters.
[03:39] <Carthrat> There's a pile of cinders down the corridor. Looks kind of hot. "Nobody is worthy of my, um, liking," replies Re'Laizary, thinly. "They're all either idiots, moralists, or mages."
[03:39] <Carthrat> "Except for Seraphin, my comrade in arms! We've got, like, a bond."
[03:40] <Grendel> "That seems to have got them," Grendel nods in satisfaction, before going to examine the sealed door.
[03:40] <Carthrat> There's a switch.
[03:40] * Grendel pulls and or pushes the switch!
[03:41] <Carthrat> From above Grendel, there's an ominous click!
[03:41] <Carthrat> Nothing happens.
[03:41] * Seraphin checks the switch, for traps, and all those sorts of nasties, pointedly not getting involved with Re'Laizary's issues.

[03:42] <Korin> "How exciting," Korin notes as nothing happens when Grendel activates or deactivates the switch.
[03:42] <Carthrat> She also discovers that something is deliberately jamming the door.
[03:44] <Seraphin> "No, give me a shot at this," Seraphin murmurs, starting to use larger tools, like hammers, and swords, to open up the switch and do field work on it.

[03:46] <Carthrat> "Bah, I wish I knew where she lived," rants Re'Laizary. You sense that she's talking because she's relieved. "Stupid bitchwitch, just because she's stayed alive for thirty years, she needs a good, real lay, or something..."
[03:47] <Korin> "Was it? I didn't really find it that interesting. More of an annoyance, but I'll attribute it to being locked in a crypt with those two sisters," Korin comments under his breath.

[03:50] * Korin blinks and looks at Relly. "Hrm? Did you say something?" he asks, rubbing his ears. "I just heard some 'Blah blah blah...' all of a sudden."
[03:50] <Seraphin> "Besides, if nothing else, Korin's easier on the eyes than most of the company I normally keep!" Seraphin offers, smirking slightly. "Oh, it was jammed by something...not totally sure what, but the crashing noise was just interesting."
[03:51] <Grendel> "Oh. Sorry," Grendel mutters, looking down at his current hideous troll-form, before reverting back to human, swiftly becoming swathed in white robes. "Better?" he asks, looking around to see any obvious source of the crash.
