Examining the door, he found it to be a traditional Japanese sliding door.  It could be opened by pulling it open.  From this side he couldn't see any traps.

Stepping to the right of the door, Genma pulled out his crowbar and used it to slide the door open an inch before stopping.

[Dracos]

Opening the door an inch, Genma observed nothing happening.

Fearless Leader

[Figment]

Stowing his crowbar, Genma pulled out a small mirror.

Crouching down near the door, he held the mirror to the bottom of the opening, tilting it to get a look at the room beyond.

[Dracos]

Checking in the room beyond he saw a narrow corridor of wood with one door on the right, and another at the far end.

Fearless Leader

[Corwin]

Shinichi asked Genma for his crowbar, intending to try the same procedure on the next door.

[Figment]

Genma handed Shinichi the crowbar.

[Corwin]

Shinichi carefully repeated what he had seen Genma successfully do, sliding the middle door open an inch with the crowbar.

[Dracos]

Shinichi was able to slide open the middle door easily with the crowbar.

[Corwin]

Shinichi returned the crowbar to Genma, and asked for his mirror, if he was done with it.

[Figment]

Genma stowed the crowbar and handed Shinichi the mirror.

[Corwin]

Thanking Genma, Shinichi crouched and followed Genma's earlier example by trying to use the small mirror to examine the room beyong the middle door.

[Dracos]

Shinichi could see a pathway leading off.  A wood floor, and what looked like a doorway on the left, the right, and at the end of the corridor.

[Corwin]

Shinichi returned the mirror to Genma, asking, "How about we choose one of these paths?"

[Figment]

Nodding, Genma stowed the mirror and slid the door he had cracked the rest of the way open and examined the area.
