The options were.
1)  Throw big stones on the ground to trigger those traps and wake the beast in the process?  (Can see Drac letting that happen)
2)  Sneak around the beasty?  (can't see Dracos letting that happen)
3)  Sneak up to the beast and kill it before it wakes.  (Can't see Drac letting that happen)
4)  Wake the beasty and see if it will run and trigger the traps for us.  (Dracos will let part A happen, but of course it has an area attack that nullifies my shield.)

I choose the one with the least risk, quickest result coefficient.  


I chose the most expedient #3.

True, but you were traveling in a party. Genma's forbidden school might have let you try options 2 or 3. Using the abilities of other and combining your abilities is the advantage of teamwork over solo-running.

A fact that is being drilled repeatedly in my head at the moment it would seem.

Mights and maybe's are all well and good.  I asked Cor about it beforehand, and although later he admitted he thought I was joking, he nominally had no problem with it.

I rather die making a choice, then sit around doing nothing for days.  

Genma's ability might have let *him* slip around the beastie.  But not me.

Also, his ability might have let him sneak up and kill the beastie, but if you remember, he was preparing to throw 15 kilogram rocks onto cavern floor to set off traps.  If that didn't wake the beasty, I can't see how my shouting did.  Unless it's a silent gas trap. Or DM's revenge...
