Cephiro, Elven Province

[Corwin]

Umi nods. "It's good to see you make it here. Do you need any medical treatment?"

[Carthrat]

"No, we're fine," the samurai says. "Now I see what the monks were fleeing from.."

They fall in step behind Umi, murmuring between themselves..

[Corwin]

"Did you see Scarface?" Umi asks the two samurai. "He got away too."

[Halbarad]

Hikaru remains behind with the three children, trying to comfort them after the fight's conclusion.  Once she has managed to calm them down a bit, she looks around for someone willing to take care of them before going to look for Umi.

[Ebiris]

Fuu follows Umi and Jyoshi, hoping they can get some decent information from the Monk without tarrying overlong.

[Carthrat]

"No, Umi-sama," replies one of the samurai, respectfully. "We only saw the monks we dealt with."

Hikaru manages to find another elf to look after the children. She's also informed that the unfortunate elves are now orphens..

Inside Master Jyoshi's small house, the trio see that he lives a fairly spartan existence. Two futon are against the wall, a small cabinet and cooking area are to the otherside. A warddrobe and a bookshelf complete the room; there are seemingly no anemities.

The man himself is going through the cabinet, quickly producing a vial of liquid.

"The truth potion," he says. "Unfortunately, it does not force the drinker to speak when asked, but there are ways around that.

Are there any questions you wish to ask? After all, you have seen more of these monks than I have, perhaps it would be better if you asked the questions."

[Ebiris]

"It'd be helpful if he could tell us where the other Doji monks are, since the battleplans we took had no details on that," Fuu suggests, before sighing, "Of course, they are probably already moving, but it will give us some idea."

[Carthrat]

"I see. Well, best get to it, then."

After quickly checking to make sure the arms and legs of the monk are bound and tied, Jyoshi forces open his lips, holds his nose, and pours the Truth Potion down it.

Coughing and sputtering, the monk awakes. His initial attempts to get free are subdued by Jyoshi's staff jabbing him between the ribs.

"Keh! You elven sc- gyahh!"

Jyoshi removes his staff from the monks head, glaring down at him. "Elven scum? And what angers the Doji so?" he barks back. "What sort of scum attacks a peacable land? What sort of scum attacks innocents? The Doji do! Compare us not to you, disgusting creature," he finishes, thwacking the monk with his staff all the while.

Instead of replying with angry words, the monk remains silent.

"Umi-san, Hikaru-san, Fuu-san, ask him what needs to be asked," says Jyoshi. "If he fails to reply, perhaps some stimulation will be in order," he continues, glaring down at the monk, who, in spite of all this, is grinning like a madman.

[Corwin]

"Where are your comrades?" Umi asks the monk bluntly.

[Carthrat]

"All throughout Cephrio," replies the Monk, grinning. "You'll never find them all in time."

[Corwin]

"Humor me," Umi continues, "and tell us the details. If we can't get there in time anyway, why bother hiding them?"

[Carthrat]

"Why do you think? Surprise is the best weapon in any fight," replies the monk. "So you know. So what? You can hardly warn everyone.."

One of the samurai is bristling with anger, hand unconciously groping his sword hilt..

[Corwin]

Umi holds out a hand in front of the angry samurai, and shakes her head slightly. Then, she smirks at the monk. "Okay, how about if I ask you really nicely?" She takes out her rapier, and makes a shallow cut across the monk's cheek with its tip.

[Carthrat]

The monk flinches slightly. "There's a band for every villiage," he says. "We'll burn them all and the Matsu will finish off what's left behind."

[Halbarad]

Hikaru's eyes harden as Umi cuts the monk's face.

'This may be necessary, but I don't have to like it,' she thinks as she turns away.
