Captured! Revelations of the Mysterious Tomb..

[Carthrat]

"That I would," replies the elf. "But to recieve something, you must first give something of equal value."

[Corwin]

"Okay," Umi says, finding it reasonable. "Could you elaborate?"

[Carthrat]

The elf pauses. "Uh.. well.. actually, I don't know. I don't really own this place, it belongs to my sister.

But boots! We have many boots. Made by elves! Boots of Elvenkind!

I think a few of them are magic, too!"

[Corwin]

Umi brutally slaughters her urge to mimic the other elf, nodding instead. "May I speak with your sister, then?"

[Carthrat]

"Oh, no. She's gone off to some gaijin land for the year. She left me in charge!" replies the girl, brightly, her earlier discourteousy forgotten.

[Corwin]

"Great!" Umi replies just as brightly. "Could you show me the magical boots you have, then?"

[Carthrat]

"Well, uh, sure!" replies the girl, shrugging.

A few moments later..

"Well, apart from the ones I'm wearing, none of them are magical," she replies, apologetically. "These ones are great, though, they're all sneaky-sneaky!"

[Corwin]

'Sneaky-sneaky?' Umi thinks in bewilderment. "Do you think I could try them on and see for myself?" she asks.

[Carthrat]

"No! They're my boots," replies the elf. "You can have any of these ones, though! They're really good, only 10gp!"

[Corwin]

"Well, I suppose if you want to keep them, no matter how much I offer you for them, it's fruitless..." Umi says, sighing.

[Carthrat]

"Not so!" replies the elf. "If you find me another pair of magical boots, I'll trade them in!"

[Corwin]

Umi raises an eyebrow. "Where could I find another pair of magical boots, though?"

[Carthrat]

"Don't know, don't care," replies the elf, flippantly.

[Corwin]

"Right," Umi says, suppressing a sigh. "I'll go and look for them, then."

Saying goodbye to the other elf, she heads back to where that masked mage is.

[Carthrat]

The masked mage is still there. Upon seeing Umi, he says, "Ah, get the boots you wanted?"
