Technically arachnids have 12 legs, don't they? I don't remember much biology but that's something that vaguely comes to mind. My bio teacher could have been drunk that day though, it wasn't uncommon.

So, that'd be 18, just in case :p

Arachnids have four pairs of legs.  They also possess two more pairs of appendages (the chelicerae and the pedipalps), which are usually invovled to be used in manipulating food/prey (so, for example, the pedialps of the scorpion are the pincers).  In a couple species, the pedipalps end up looking like legs (the infamous camel spiders, for exampe), but they are not legs by the entomological definition.

So your biology teacher was sort of correct -- they have twelve appendages, but only eight legs.

My parents were a little hmph at the beginning but they're okay with it. The bunny is sitting happily on my bed. He's so wonderful to cuddle. Teh fluff! My friend loves it. She wants you to send her another one; she even will send you the money to buy one O.o But she's weird like that.

I have no idea what I did. But this is getting rather tedious. I have to write a paper on bushido....
