As recently announced in the Sailor Moon RPG forum, Dune is about to retire the long-running Sailor Moon game that's been going on IRC for several months now. Since this game's been a lot of fun, I had the idea of running something of a 'sequel' to it.

Set about three hundred years after the reestablishment of the Moon Kingdom, the Moon has more or less reached its capacity for expansion. The leaders of the Lunar government have asked for volunteers to survey the remaining planets of the solar system, with an eye towards colonization if conditions are suitable - the reestablishment of the ancient Silver Millenium the eventual goal of Queen Serenity.

The players will be the members of this team (or multiple teams, if there are enough people who want to play). Magic and technology are both common in this era of the Moon Kingdom, so keep that in mind as you toss around your character concepts. This will be a fairly serious game (although not without a few comedic moments), so bear that in consideration as well.

There will likely be a good span of time from the time of this post until the game itself begins - likely a couple of months or so - but judging from the amount of feedback I've gotten so far it seems like a good idea to have this posted already so I can keep track of who's interested so far. ^_^

Note: Knowledge of Dune's game or the canon SM universe really isn't necessary to this game, although certainly both will be helpful.

Anyway, drop in a post if you're interested, and as the details of this game solidify I'll keep this topic updated.

EDIT: And a very first edit: This game will likely run on the board, not on IRC. Just a consideration to take in.

Yeah. Already said in IRC. Sign me up.

Anastasia

I might be in, yes. I won't belabor why and the facts behind it here, ask myself or Hal about it privately if you want to know.

One note, too. The SM game has one arc to go, and there will be a good deal of me and Hal working things out after that for this. I wouldn't expect to see it for 2 months at the least.
<Afina> Imagine a tiny pixie boot stamping on a devil's face.
<Afina> Forever.

<Yuthirin> Afina, giant parasitic rainbow space whale.
<IronDragoon> I mean, why not?

Kwokinator

Can I join?  Or am I gonna get my ass kicked for just thinking about it? ^_^

Dracos

*kicks kwok's ass for even just thinking of it ^_^*

Well, Goodbye.

This game will be using Tristat DX; characters will be designed under the Posthuman rules (d8) with a 125 CP template.

Stats have a maximum value of 13 without GM approval. If you feel you need to take a stat higher than 13, talk to me first. Stats are simply 2 CP per stat point.

ATTRIBUTES:
Agents, Contamination, Duplicate, Elasticity, Extra Arms, Extra Attacks, Grow, Henchmen, Hyperflight, Mass Increase, Reincarnation, and Shrink are all disallowed. Basically, no superhuman abilities in this game.

For Teleport, talk to me before you take it, unless it's the racial teleport for half-elves (see below).

Wealth is allowed, but bear in mind that it won't have much of an impact at all on this game.

Any damage-causing attack must be taken as a Special Attack, regardless of the source of damage. All the PCs will have one free attack: Special Attack Level 1 (Energy Pistol). The Moon Kingdom will provide all the explorers with sidearms and the training to use one; aside from that, any further attacks will have to be paid for out of your own points. There will be a limit of level 8 on any special attack, and a damage cap of 100 on any attack (so basically, level 5 plus any combination of abilities and disabilities to bring it to 8).

SKILLS:

Point values will be taken from the Multi-Genre list. Two exceptions to this:
Occult's cost will be raised from 2 to 4 points/level (due to the common nature of magic in the game). Occult is linked to your Dynamic Powers for the most part; it's a measure of how well you can combine previous magical knowledge to create a new magical effect.

Gun Combat will drop to 4 points/level. Gun Combat also requires a specialization - one of either rifles and pistols, and one of either energy or projectile weapons - i.e., Energy Pistols or Projectile Rifles. The skill CAN be taken multiple times for multiple specializations, though.

For Languages, any modern language is acceptable, and another language will be added: Lunarian. Think of this as a sort of Latin for the Moon Kingdom - very rarely spoken or used, but it's rooted in the past of the Kingdom itself.

Archaeology (normally under Cultural Arts) will be a separate skill at 3 pts/level. Specializations available will include Ancient Lunar, Ancient Earth (focused on any civilization if you want to be more specific), Modern Earth, and Postmodern Earth (talk to me about this one if you're curious).

Starting skill points will be equal to Mind x5, rather than the flat 30 allowed in the book. For any skill level over 4, ask for approval first.

RACE:

In addition, there will likely be an additional race available for PCs: Half-elves. For those familiar with canon SM, the Doom Tree/Tree of Life has been planted on the Moon's surface, and the elves it produces do occasionally breed with humans, their offspring having a few unusual attributes as follows:

Stats: -2 to Soul (Elves in general are rather dependent on the Tree of Life, and tend to look for it for guidance - making them somewhat indecisive and weak-willed on their own).

Attributes: Teleport Level 5 (100 km range), 0 PMVs (self-only). As a racial characteristic, those of elven blood have the ability to teleport over a short range.

Alternate Form Level 0 (Cosmetic Changes) Another innate ability of the elven race is changing their appearance - they can appear as normal humans, or as any humanoid shape, simply through an extension of will.

Full elves are available, but not really viable in this campaign due to one of their limitations - they must return to the Tree of Life a minimum of once per week, and they don't have interplanetary teleport range. If you think you've got a way to work around this, contact me and let me know.

And as a final note, continue to post here if you're interested, or PM me here on the board or IRC for more details - I can usually be found in #dunes, #soulriders, or #void as either Halbarad or Usagi-chan. Any questions not covered here can also be covered in PM.
