Thus everyone gathers, ready to go and...

Gate.
Awesome. Where are you aiming for exactly, since Gate is precise.
Preferably just outside of Surgonar's Reef. If needed, can scry the location with Divination.
Dark.
The walls are tight. You stand in a narrow passage, winding tight, just barely enough for all of you to pass through. A steady breeze blows, yet the air is stale. Barely breathable and ice cold, the passage winding on ahead. That should lead right to the reef.
"Fucking scenic," Dana drawls, readying her shield.
Benyen shivers, "Scenic for an arctic cave," he agrees.
'Energy Conversion will keep the worst of the cold off of you. Pandemonium's winds can turn frigid in a moment. I tried to give us enough space so that they wouldn't know we're coming, but don't be surprised if shadows suddenly show up. On your guard.' Tryll says, heading forward.
For reference, marching order and Perception?
Dana, Tryll, Miranda/Calleigh, Benyen.
Tryll[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+50 : 7 + 50, total 57[/blockquote]Calleigh[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+41 : 7 + 41, total 48[/blockquote]
The winds carry noise - the sound of screams, pained and far away.
"Well that sounds bad!" Calleigh remarks.
"It sounds worst," Miranda agrees, "Be it damned souls or the innocent being abused."
"Or Pandemonium is being an ass," Dana retorts as you advance.
Ahead it opens up - and here are the mangled remains of several ships of iron, covered in growths of rust red and pearl white. They lie there unprotected, nothing about - just the howling of the winds indeed.
'Well, this is certainly scenic.' Tryll comments.
"How'd they get so many rusty boats here? Aren't boats usually made out of wood?" Calleigh asks.
"Usually," Miranda says, "I've heard of metal ships in Acheron, but not Pandemonium."
Benyen takes it in as the wind slackens for a moment, "Too bad, a metal ship would be great."
'Maybe we can take one later.' Trylll replies.
"Meanwhile, uh...which way?" Benyen asks slowly, taking it all in.
"Follow the screams!" Calleigh nods.
Perception check real quick, then.
Tryll[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+50 : 8 + 50, total 58[/blockquote]Calleigh[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+41 : 2 + 41, total 43[/blockquote]
It's no good - they're coming from every direction, varying.
"It's no use," Miranda says at the same moment, "Search for passages and we explore them. I hear there's many dead ends here, at least."
'I can try a divination!' Tryll says, trying a Divination.
What is the path to our goal?
Give me a CL check here? Interference is an issue.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+35 : 9 + 35, total 44[/blockquote]
You get a cacophony of screams, and amid it - a pull to the south.
"South!" Calleigh says, turning abruptly.
"South," Dana agrees, sword and shield at the ready.
Ahead lies a two passages south that you can see casually - one is a narrow, winding passage, tight. The other is more of a gaping hole, a general downhill path, maybe even some sort of hill were it not below ground and surrounded by rock.
A hill is a hill, regardless of geographic location! Tryll and Calleigh both agree to treat it as such! The hill shall be traversed!

<Penuche> Kotono invokes Penuche's magic: < 3 > [d100=3]
CLANG! CLANG! As you begin to enter, you hear a loud sound of metal pounding from somewhere below. It's quite loud, starting abruptly as you go in.
"Hope it's a golem," Dana says, "Could use a fight to loosen up."
"An easy enemy," Miranda agrees.
"Maybe it's a gruff-yet-friendly blacksmith who will give us an unlikely weapon that will turn out to be the one thing we need to win against horrible odds in the near future!" Calleigh adds.
"Yeah," Benyen says, "I met one of those once, it was great. I broke the sword on an orc's ribcage."
Dana just readies herself, the clanging getting louder. 80ft down, at the bottom of this hill, is a great shambling human-like creature of iron. It's shambling forward, body covered all over in hooks and blades.
"Hey!" Calleigh calls down to it as Tryll readies an energy blast, "Are you a blacksmith!?"
The answer is to charge forward and...!!!
Congrats, it's init.

Sure, K:A.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+53 : 18 + 53, total 71[/blockquote]
It looks like a Hook Golem. Take a golem, add hooks so that your foes get pinned to it and there you go. Not the most creative, but it is reasonably effective. Don't get in close to it unless you can finish it fast, or you'll get grappled and shredded.
Does it have an iron golem's spell immunities?
Generally, yes.
Calleigh holds for Tryll to act.
With a sharp whistle, a series of electrical explosions detonate around the golem!
Quickened Maximized Twinned Energy Barrage (Electricity)
PP: 35
Effect: 6 explosions @ 66 damage each

DC: 40 Reflex halves blast damage, but not impact damage

Ranged touch![blockquote]Rolled 1d20+29 : 12 + 29, total 41[/blockquote]
Okay, you have the K:A ranks to know the following:
Assuming iron golem resistances, any electricity attack won't deal damage. It will slow it for 3 rounds, though. That change your calculus?
Nope, that's my intent.

Well, that was brief.
The tornado blast howls against the winds, slamming into the creature below. It's sent flying and away, plus shows no signs of coming back, assuming it survived that. It probably didn't.
Free act.
'Bracing. And loud. Expect company.' Tryll warns.
"All the more reason to get moving," Miranda says, "Before we get even more problems."
Dana just smiles at that, "It won't be fuckin' boring now!"
"You expected Pandemonium to be boring?" Calleigh asks as the group moves on.
"Not now," Dana grins, Benyen smiling as well.
The path ahead is long and tight, winding. As you go, the echos of the wind growing louder? You notice the hilt of a blade is stuck into the wall as you past, as if a blade was thrust in there.
"ITSASWORD!" Calleigh points. Tryll investigates with Detect Psionics.
The sword radiates magic. It's minorly enchanted, nothing special, just...stuck in the wall, apparently?
Tryll also checks the wall around it to see if it's some sort of trap.
Do you have trapfinding or the like?
I don't, but I can pass through walls so I can see inside! We'll do that.
It looks like the sword is intact - no rust, either. No sign of any mechanical traps or hollows in the wall.
No apparent magical traps?
Nothing.
Tryll telekinetically yanks the sword from the wall.
A loud tearing sound as the sword is removed, pulled out cleanly.
"So...sword?" Benyen asks, "Random swords are the best swords."
'Did you know that swords are very effective when launched at high velocity at a target?' Tryll says as the sword levels out over the group.
Dana grins at that as ahead you hear footsteps - loud footsteps, many footsteps.
Miranda readies her bow, "Speaking of targets."
"Maybe they just want to be friends?" Calleigh's hope springs eternal.
Dana outright laughs at that as you see them. Skeletons, but the bones are solid steel instead. They rush onwards, blades and maces at the ready, a single file line of five of them rushing onward as the winds pick up, screamingly loud.
"Those...boneyboys do not look friendly." Calleigh says, dejected.
How many, at a glance?
A single line of five.
'Dana, you want 'em?'
"Hell yeah," Dana agrees, as...
I think this is heading to init land. Let's go visit init land.

The arrows pepper the skeletons, one suffering a shattered skull, the others pierced by them, going through bone like flesh. Yet the line is still up despite Miranda's volley. In fact, afterwards, there's a surge of energy, metal-gray, coming forth from them and over the party.
Fortitude all.

'Feel better?' Tryll asks Dana while supporting Calleigh as she recovers.
"Little bit," Dana says, striding ahead already.
Miranda shakes her head, "Strange creatures, weren't they?"
"Metal skellingtons that yell with magic? Seems normal to me!" Calleigh says, shaking her head.
"Let's go and find this portal," Dana says as she advances on.
Ready to move along?
Yep.
On the passage you go, winding along. It narrows more and more and more, to the point of needing to be taken slow and careful, armor scraping against the side of the stone walls. Yet past that sits a small, dead end cavern. Here skeletons lie about, broken and largely shattered. What must be dozens and dozens of skeletons, joined by a metal arch to one side, deeply rusted and dented.
The arch is examined with Detect Psionics!
Spellcrafting times.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+53 : 7 + 53, total 60[/blockquote]
There's fading magic here. This was recently a portal, but it's dead and gone. Only the echos of magic remain around it.
Would this be something that Trace Teleport could pick up?
Possibly if it falls in with the 'within the last minute' clause of it.
Tryll manifests Trace Teleport!
No dice, the portal's been down longer than that, it appears.
Alas. 'This archway was a portal until relatively recently. Too old to trace, but it may reopen in the future.'
Benyen goes and waves his hand through it, "Can we turn it back on?"
Tryll will check!
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+53 : 7 + 53, total 60[/blockquote]
Studying it, you believe the portal can be activated by offering the blood of a loyal pet.
'It reopens with the blood of a loyal pet.' Tryll says dryly.
"Well that's fucking cruel," Dana deadpans back.
Miranda sniffs, "We will not use either of my pets for this," she announces, "Ever."
'Well, we don't know where it goes, but we can prevent it from opening again.' Tryll suggests, 'This may force the owner of the portal to do something stupid, such as teleport directly here to see what went wrong.'
Dana perks up at that while Benyen nods, "Good, they need to account for themselves. Who uses a pet like that?"
'Agreed.' Tryll says, disintegrating the arch.
Obligatory 1 check.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20 : 20, total 20[/blockquote]
Well, that's one less arch as well as the wall behind it for several feet.
'We can either wait here to see what happens, or move on. No idea how long it'll take for whoever owned that portal to come investigate.' Tryll says, already leaving.

Okay, fair warning. Note that due to how I run magic/psionics transparency, a golem's immunity to magic would apply to those. Assuming it has that, anyway.
You okay with risking that?
Iron golems, per SRD, are immune to any magic spell that allows Spell Resistance. These do not offer Spell Resistance. In fact, I used them both on the hook golem.
Side note: I do run many epic golems with a stronger version of magic immunity from 3.0, but this isn't one. If it was, I would've failed.

Benyen is there with a battle cry, chaging in with Dana. The two shield the rest of you as they brawl, slashing away. While Dana's attack does little, Benyen's is enough to cut deep into it. The already battered golem staggers and falls over, letting Benyen and Dana strike and strike. Soon it isn't moving at all, the battle won.
Free act.
Calleigh shakes her head woozily. "Ugh, so rude!"
Meanwhile, Tryll is examining the golem.
It's pretty well wrecked, cut deeply, but fundamentally intact.
Into the Sack of Holding it goes.
It's an entire iron golem. How much can your bag hold and take in at once, anyway?
It's a bag of holding. So I dunno?
Do you know what type it - you k now what, we had this discussion before, I believe. I'll look it up later.
Once the golem is sorted out...now what?
Ball is in your court.
We will move on in search of Sharrans to rob.
Thus you return and try the other passage in the proscribed direction.
Except for the howling of the wind, it's quiet down this passage.
"Hope they aren't hiding like rats," Dana growls, "Fucking spineless."
"They make better targets that way," Miranda adds, "Hiding foes are foes not directly attacking you."
'Still, we should be aware. Hiding foes have the opportunity to snipe.'
Quick Perception on that note.
"Snipers are cowards, if wise cowards," Miranda remarks, "A good sniper can win a battle untouched."
"Yeah, untouched because no one wants to lay a fucking archer," Dana banters back.
Miranda merely smiles at that, "I can verify you're wrong, Dana. Very wrong."
"That's true." Calleigh nids from Miranda's shoulder, "I've seen archers laid all over lots of battlefields."
Tryll[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+50 : 19 + 50, total 69[/blockquote]Calleigh[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+41 : 3 + 41, total 44[/blockquote]
Miranda smiles, "Let's talk about something else," she agrees, as you hear screams from ahead, carried by the winds. Indistinct, the barest echo of torment.
'That sounded fresh!' Tryll says, moving toward the sound.
You advance on - and soon enough the passage has tiny, barred slits in the wall. Screams come from them, screams of agony. Two dozen slits total, a dozen on each wall.
"Damned," Miranda says solemnly, "It would be my guess, though I shiver to think of what crimes would consign them this deep."
Benyen hms, "So these might be the souls of the really bad? Like the bad that are so bad you want to smite them all over again?"
"Wait, people get damned to Pandemonium?" Calleigh asks. "I thought it was the Abyss, the Nine Hells, or Celestia and the upper planes?"
"Every outer plane gets souls, as well as divine realm," Miranda shouts over the screams, "Imagine the person who earns this as their eternity."
Meanwhile the screams continue from within, non stop.
Calleigh throws a rock at one of the sets of bars, "Hey! What'd you do!?"
The screams slow, stop. Eyes. Bleeding eyes are glimpsed, a bloody hand gripping the bars. "...I ran the Holy Sacrifice," his voice is shaking, almost laughing.
"No holy deeds brought you hear, liar," Miranda says, voice low and yet carrying over the screams of the others.
"Whatdja sacrifice? Lambs? Gold? Babies!?"
"Lives." Is the answer, "The only way to free them from sin was to kill them. Pain washes away their sins, alone in the dark and forgotten until they repent."
"Y'know that's not how it works, right? That means that they go to the afterlife and you go HERE. Or maybe they get resurrected by some passing priest or something. You're a jerk." Calleigh sticks out her tongue.
A single finger jabs out at that tongue, missing it by an inch - far too long for a normal finger. Yet it sticks out and retreats, bloody all the way, covered with cuts.
"They bled and they repented. Nothing else mattered." The voice declares. "Ahahhahahahahahhaaa....Tyr was jealous of me, his most successful servant! He tried to stop me, his messages showed his jealousy!" His voice is raised now, a scream, "JEALOUS!"
'Delusions persisting through death are not uncommon.' Tryll says. 'The soul either regrets and attempts to repent, lashes out, or insists that what it did to earn its position was right.'
"He wasn't stripped of his memories," Miranda notes, "Let him sit and let us continue on. He's earned his place here."
"Bye crazyman! Have a - uh- afterlife!" Calleigh waves as they leave.
The screams serenade you as you come to an intersection. There's a passage ahead, a passage sloping down to the left side and to the right side is a narrow passage ahead. You notice rusty red, old blood splatters the stones there.
The screams of the damned the way you came still echo, if less audible now.
Say "passage" one more time. I dare you.
'Hmm. The path forks.' Tryll observes observably.
3 passages not counting the way you came, to be clear.
"Blood," Dana says, "Something strong might be down that way."
Miranda shakes her head, "Little point to it, it's old."
"Maybe it's undead?" Calleigh helpfully offers. "Like, recently undead. Sorta recently."
'Opinions? If none, let's go right.'
No objections so the party goes down that way.
The screams of the damned grow fainter, echoing.
This passage is wide enough to walk comfortably. As you go, you hear the echos fade entirely. It is silent now as you begin to smell the scent of blood and meat.
'Meat. The living need to eat, so we might be on the right track.'
Miranda nods, a finger to her lips as she stalks ahead.
Quick Perception.
Tryll[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+50 : 16 + 50, total 66[/blockquote]Calleigh[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+41 : 16 + 41, total 57[/blockquote]
The smell gets stronger as you go - and around a tightening bend, you begin to hear the sound of knives being sharpened.
'Ominous. Calleigh, would you investigate?'
Calleigh salutes the air and leaps off of Miranda's shoulder, flying into the wall and becoming incorporeal along the way.
Where are you going to peek out, then?
I'm going to have her skirt the area ahead and see it she can peek out behind whatever's making noise. Or directly above it.
Sure.
Peeking out, you see ahead are men. They wear heavy steel masks, covering all their heads. They otherwise wear ragged leather pants and little else. Here you can see parts of people, all parts, hung on dozens of hooks. As you watch, several dismember a body, as another appears at their feet. A pair of them take the parts and drop them down one part at a time into holes in the floor.
Calleigh does NOT go say hello. She returns to the group via wall walking and says with a whisper, "So they're chopping up people in there and dropping the parts into holes. The bodies appear from uhhhhhhhh somewhere? Best to just blast 'em."
Incidentally, how many men?
About a dozen.
"Madness," Miranda's voice is bleak, "Butchery for the sake of butchery."
Dana just smiles a bit, "Well sign me the fuck up."
"It's like twelve half-naked bloody guys. Pretty gross."
"Then let me," Miranda says, "They won't even have a chance."
"We'll cover," Dana says, "Tryll, you play clean up?"
Benyen smiles a bit, "A good, old fashioned smiting. About time. It's harder to smite someone in Pandemonium than I'd think."
"Have fun storming the...whatever you call that kinda place. We'll keep an eye out for shenanigans." Calleigh assures the others.
Okay, so you two keep watch while the other three go clean house?
Will occupy the entryway and play overwatch. Keep stragglers from bolting as well as serve as early warning in case reinforcements arrive. These three seem eager for violence. Might be effects of the plane. Might just be Dana rubbing off on them. Possibly literally in the case of Benyen. >_>
Classy. Okay.
Thus you turn the corner - and about 90ft down is the room of butchery. Here they work as Miranda steps forward, "Perish quickly," she calls, as...
No great stealth here. Init.

Calleigh applauds. "Yay good job! Feel better?"
"It's a start," Looking down, Dana grimaces, "Want to bother with their nasty stuff?"
Benyen looks down as well, "I doubt it's worth anything to us."
Tryll manifests Detect Psionics and quickly scans the area with Calleigh's help!
Nothing magical except one long, sharp knife.
Is it evul?
Do you have detect evil or something similar? Don't honestly know offhand.
Calleigh does!
The knife is evil, as you might expect.
Tryll immediately disintegrates it.
Well, that's one less evil knife. Now what?
Search for any other exits. If nothing, back the way we came.
Sure. Perception, oh searching one.
Tryll[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+50 : 1 + 50, total 51[/blockquote]Calleigh[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+41 : 15 + 41, total 56[/blockquote]
Sure enough, the back wall has a mostly hidden passage, a tight cleft deeper into the earth.
Tryll will widen the cleft to a comfortable level with disintegration!
Easy enough. There's now a much larger passage ahead.
Dana strides forward, "Handy shit. You got the mind juice to keep doing this shit?"
'So long as I'm not using it in combat, yes. It's relatively inexpensive.'
"Still useful," Miranda says, the passage ahead widening regardless past where you disintegrated it. It's also heading down rather sharply again. Going down it, you come to another intersection.
There is a path ahead to the north, a path west and two paths east. All meander deeper into the earth. Additionally, in the northeast corner is a flickering portal, surrounded by a ring of stones.
'Paths or portal?' Tryll asks the team.
"ooooo portal!" Calleigh chimes.
"The portal's risky," Benyen says, "But what's an adventure without risk?"
"Survivable," Miranda retorts instantly.
'You only live once. Unless you can pull off living more than once, like Calleigh, Miranda, or myself.' Tryll adds.
"Fuck it," Dana says, striding on through as you all talk. She touches it and is gone, off to wherever the portal leads.
'Alright then.' Tryll says, quickly following Dana.
Give me a quick Will save, oh ghostly one.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+34 : 4 + 34, total 38[/blockquote]
It's dim and foggy here.
You feel an overwhelming sense of sorrow, held at bay only by your protective magics. From all you can see, this place is empty save for fog.
"Oh yuck, is this Gehenna or something?" Calleigh asks as they come through the gate.
'Unsure.' Tryll activates True Seeing!
It's simply an empty cavern, stretching long and far.
"What happened here?" Miranda whispers to herself, "I know this sorrow, yet...?" a trail off.
"Something terrible," Benyen's voice is soft.
"Something unforgivable," Dana echos, "The fuck is this bullshit?"
'Yugoloth nonsense. Or Sharrans. Sorrow and loss. We might be on the right track. Let's move forward.'
You go ahead, the cavern coming to a swift dead end. The way ahead is caved in and gone, the walls and ceiling down.
"Imma check out what's past it!" Calleigh says, zooming straight into the rubble.
Calleigh does just that. She does so and as she flies through the rock? The sense of sorrow gets stronger.
She should turn around. She doesn't belong here. Let the dead mourn.
Some things shouldn't be remembered, should they?
Calleigh turns back and returns to the group. "There's some bad juju in there! I dunno what it is, but it feels like there's dead inside. Something about dead mourning and things that shouldn't be remembered."
'Sounds lucrative.' Tryll remarks. 'Also, if there are dead here that deserve to rest, we should put them at rest.'
"We should," Miranda says, "Can we move or deal with all of this rubble as we are now?"
In response, Tryll pops off a disintegration at the rubble to see if it will collapse further.
A big chunk of it is gone, but there's still a bunch more ahead. The part that vanished doesn't reveal anything interesting.
Tryll tries again! We must go deeper!
Another down, more of the path revealed - still nothing, but plenty more rubble ahead.
How far are you willing to go here?
That's a good question!
'We could be here all day. I'm going to see exactly how far it is. Wait here.' Tryll says, phasing through thr rubble and seeking its other end.
Protections and immunities, Yuth?
Mind blank, non-detection, incorporeal traits
The sense of sorrow gets stronger as you go onward.
You should turn around. You don't belong here. Let the dead mourn.
Some things shouldn't be remembered, should they?
Tryll presses on! Carefully.

Tryll emerges. Just as well, there wasn't anything there and it's better to let the dead rest.
You've forgotten the feeling you had in the post before my last one, nor do you remember turning around - you just feel it's time to move on.
'Welp, we're done here. Time to move on.' Tryll says.
"Wait what? No way! What happened in there!?" Calleigh demands.
"It may be for the best, but whatever did happen there?" Miranda asks, while Dana shrugs and starts walking back, Benyen as well.
'Nothing worth being curious over.' Tryll replies, 'We have better things to do with our time.'
"Hey hey HEY!" Calleigh zips past the group and stops in front of them, holding out her hands. "Whoa! Uh uh. Say that again!"
'Calleigh.' Tryll says very patiently. 'We're leaving. There's nothing here.'
"SAY IT!" Calleigh screeches.
'Which part?' Tryll says with a heavy mental sigh.
"What you thought of what you saw!"
'It's nothing worth being curious over. Do you mind? Sharrans are just out there, waiting to be-'
"NOPE! You're not curious!? You're never not curious! You're always curious! I know something's in there! I felt it too! All of a sudden you're not curious!? Uh uh no way no sir no way shape or form is that gonna fly with me buster you have been MIND WHAMMIED!"

'Why are you so hung up on this? It was nothing.'
"So it was just an empty room?"
'No, it was-'

"You didn't even see what it was did you?"
'No, but who cares?'
Calleigh points at Tryll and stares at the others as if to say, "You're all okay with this??"
Dana shrugs, "It's just fuckin' rocks."
Benyen follows her as Miranda hms, "Aren't you warded against that, Tryll? If something overcome that, it must be mighty. That or Tryll is truly unaffected by any influence and simply wishes to leave."
"Obviously it's something stronger than that! Think about his behavior. Is this normal? Because it's not normal to me!"
"It's not normal," Miranda frowns, "Yet I feel like we should go, shouldn't we, Calleigh?"
"No! And you should be upset you feel that way! And you're not! And that should make you upset too! Something is controlling your minds!"
"It's better if we go," Miranda says, starting to follow the others.
"Why?"
Miranda's answer is to keep going.
"Hey!" Calleigh shouts as the group heads away, "If you don't get back here I'll be forced to take drastic measures!"
No response from any of them.
Tryll's free to reply if he would like, but the NPCs are not.
'Calleigh, we really should get-'
"I WILL SING THE SONG!" Calleigh shouts. Tryll stops, now thoroughly distracted.
'...you wouldn't dare.'
"I'm gonna break the promise and sing it! Don't think I won't! Get back here!"
'We both agreed the song is banned for a reason, Calleigh. You promised not to sing it anymore. I promised not to ask you to sing it anymore. That one guy begged you not to sing it anymore. The king of...whatever. I think he wanted us to just leave, actually. Quite rude. It's not our fault his dinner party thing was ruined. To be honest, nobody really wanted to marry his daughter. Certainly not the boy they were tring to pin her to. Poor lad. We did him a favor, really. She looked like a fish. She had fish face. Temperament to match, really. Just a really unpleasant girl. Have you ever seen a fish walk on two legs? That's what it was like. Cold. Unblinking. Unnerving. With these giant lips that took up half her fa-'
Calleigh, undaunted by Tryll's attempt to disuade her, takes a loud and deep breath.
'Alright! Alright. I'll come back! Just don't start the song. We might get smitten. Smited. Smit? Whatever.' Tryll returns to Calleigh. 'Are you happy now? What exactly do you want?' Tryll asks.
"I want you to go try again!" Calleigh retorts.
'Alright, well there's nothing there and it's obviously a complete waste of time. I'll tell you what. I'll go again and when I've found nothing, again, we'll leave. If I DO find something, we'll stay. Otherwwise, let's go. Deal?' Tryll is very confident nothing will be found, it is plain to see.
"...fine. But you gotta really really really TRY okay? No funny business!"
'Yes, yes, of course. Dana, Miranda, Benyen, would you please assist me in humoring Calleigh by not leaving the area? We wouldn't want to get separated.'
"It's your waste of time," Dana says, uncaring.
"Why not, it's not like we're on a schedule," Benyen says.
'Thank you. Calleigh, you stay here and-'
"Nope uh uh I'm going with you this time! Whatever hit you got everyone else but missed me and I dunno why. Maybe I'm immune or lucky. Either way, I'm backing you up."
'...very well. Let's go.' And off the pair goes through the rocks.
Thus the two of you go in.
The sense of sorrow gets stronger as you go onward.
You should turn around. You don't belong here. Let the dead mourn.
Some things shouldn't be remembered, should they?
"Yep yep same as before blah blah GET LOST SADNESS HERE COMES CALLEIGH!"
Will saves, you two.

Tryll and Calleigh emerge from the stones. It's time to go, they realize. Nothing interesting is there and surely they have better things to do.
Gonna use Paragon's Fortune to resist the effects.
Sure, in that case you get a different result, strike the last line.
As Tryll goes forward, there is an overwhelming urge. An overwhelming urge to FORGET, to turn away and return. Somehow you shuck it off, at least for a moment.
Tryll proceeds forward at full speed.
You rush ahead, rush on. Ahead you open up into a grand space as...
Will again.
THIS IS MY DESTINY
Failure will immediately use another charge of Paragon's Fortune
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+34 : 10 + 34, total 44[/blockquote]
You manage to hold yourself a little longer, resist the thundering voice to forget.
Here lies a simple building in a large cavern. A building of stone, simple. Doors are here, doors sealed tightly shut and made of darkened wood.
Well. Tryll owes Calleigh an apology, it seems. Tryll tries one of the doors! 'Anyone home?'
What languages do you speak?
Common, Auran, Celestial, Infernal, Abyssal, Draconic, Ignan, Terran, Aquan, Elven, Sylvan, Dwarven, Orcish, Goblin, Aboleth, Gnomish, Giant, Halfling, Gnoll, Irglish
There is writing in Gnomish on the door. It reads as follows: Here sleeps what would not die, now banished beyond the embrace of the earth.
Will again.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+34 : 15 + 34, total 49[/blockquote]
Failure. Do you have and want to use another use of paragon's fortune?
I have one, but I'm not going to use it. What's here shouldn't be in anyone's hands.
Tryll will agree to forget.
Tryll returns, that sorted. What a waste of time.
Tryll forgets everything he saw beyond the cave in.
'Well! Shall we?' Tryll asks.
"Yep, nothing to see here. OBVIOUSLY NOTHING SUPER IMPORTANT HERE THAT'S BETTER OFF BEING COMPLETELY FORGOTTEN FOREVER! Forget everything I said earlier." Calleigh enthusiastically agrees.
Going back then?
Yep
Thus you return outside of the portal.
There is a path ahead to the north, a path west and two paths east. All meander deeper into the earth. Additionally, in the northeast corner is a flickering portal, surrounded by a ring of stones.
That a different portal?
Same one you came out of.
Which one did we come from before?
South, it isn't mentioned since I just copied the original post.
"North?"
'North.'
"North," Dana agrees.
"North," Benyen fourths, "Should be something worthwhile here, like the time I found those sleeping ogres in the mountains. All of them."
The northern path quickly narrows tight and low. For everyone but Calleigh and Tryll, it'll require crawling.
"North is always the best direction! Sometimes it's pretty! Sometimes it's chilly! There was that one town in uhhhhh what was the name of the-"
'Winter's Edge.'
"Yeah, that place! They had this snow they made special with fruit juices in it and little chunks of berries and stuff. It was amazing! Cold and sweet and yum!" Calleigh grins.
"Damn," Dana kneels, "Tryll, can you cover our front, we won't be able to fight for shit if something happens here?"
"I won't be able to use my bow like that," Miranda agrees, "Benyen?"
"No room to swing my sword," he thirds, "Dana, take front so you can scream acid if we're attacked."
'That's fine. Calleigh and I will keep a lookout.'
Cool, gimme Perception then?
Tryll[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+50 : 20 + 50, total 70[/blockquote]Calleigh[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+41 : 19 + 41, total 60[/blockquote]
It's a long, wiggly trip - for them. For Tryll it's drifting through stone, going on. After a few minutes of this, he can spot something ahead - holes in the walls to the side, little holes. Big enough to stick a hand into, perhaps.
'Small holes in the wall up ahead. About the size of a hand. Going to go investigate.'
"Great," Dana growls, "Fucking spiders or shit."
You fly ahead. Perhaps thankfully, they're all empty. You notice they look roughly carved, not natural at all, but nothing's in them.
Tryll will activate True Seeing just to be sure!
Nothing, nada, blank. Empty.
'Come on up, there's nothing here.'
Done and done. It opens up after into a cramped but larger slope going sharply down, to the point you may need to fly. Rusty iron hooks hang on the walls here, scraps of rotting cloth and leather still attached to some of them.
'Lots of rusty iron hooks ahead. Very horror-story vibe here.' Tryll reports back to the group. 'Big, steep slope though. Watch your footing and fly if you can.'
"Going to be tight," Miranda warns, "Trust in your armor."
Dana just grins as she plunges down ahead.
Both of you are incorporeal?
Yep!

Armor indeed wins the day. With your allies protected, going down the passage is uncomfortable but nothing more. At the bottom is a floor covered in old bones, with no obvious passages forward from this point.
"Wait, there's nothing here?"
Tryll starts looking around with True Seeing, checking floors, walls, & ceilings for passages.
Perception.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+50 : 8 + 50, total 58[/blockquote][blockquote]Rolled 1d20+41 : 1 + 41, total 42[/blockquote]
Ahah! Beneath a heap of bones is a narrow chasm going straight down - just big enough for someone like Dana or Benyen to fall down.
Calleigh drops through the floor to investigate!
'Found a chasm. About Dana-sized. Calleigh's checking it out.'
Calleigh goes down. It's about a 100ft or so fall, ending in a pitch dark chasm with dark waters flooding it. There's a passage ahead down here, a single one.
That gets investigated too!
It's pretty long and winding - no sign of an end. You do, however, notice ripples as well as shadows beneath the surface of the dark water.
How far has she gone down this tunnel?
Ominous!
About 100ft or so.
Will go another hundred before doubling back.
It winds on further, no end in sight. You return back without incident and...
Go ahead.
"Nope, just a super long endless tunnel with probably underwater monsters after a hundred foot drop!"
"So...we go down it?" Benyen says, "Sea monsters are a good time."
"Krakens are, at least." Miranda observes, "They're often easy targets for my arrows, once they breech the surface."
'I'm game.'
"It'sa real small cave, from what I was able to see. You guys are proooobably gonna be in the water most of the time."
"Could be worse," Dana shrugs, "Let's go do this shit." She hops on down, Benyen following.
Tryll heads down as well.
"Well, I tried." Calleigh says, floating over to Miranda. "You heading in too?"
"They need an archer to save them from their foolishness," Miranda agrees, hopping down after.
"But it's all dark and groooooossssssssss!" Calleigh calls after, following Miranda.
Miranda lands and calls back, "It's Pandemonium, everywhere here is gross and disgusting."
Miranda's voice echos about as meanwhile Dana has her shield ready, Benyen at her side. "Shhh! Trying to fucking listen!"
Calleigh dutifully shuts up.
NPCs take 10.
"Splashing," Miranda says instantly, "The enemy draws nigh."
Indeed, a moment later, dark shapes can be seen racing ahead, hidden by the dark waters as they draw close.

Miranda readies her bow, gaze ahead. Benyen readies himself to receive the charge in the meantime.
Waiting for a target rather than dealing with shooting into the water. Benyen prepares for it to come and die to him. Calleigh.
Calleigh has true seeing, but that doesn't mean she can see through the water! She'll wait!
Dana will hold as well and let whatever it is approach, the beat it before it can hurt anyone. Tryll?
Tryll dips beneath the surface of the water to see what's coming.
You can see them - long, snakelike things with appendages along their midbody, long tendrils ready to reach out. They're a dull black color, blending well into the darkened waters. They're perhaps a dozen feet long and the tendrils are longer, though curled around them, inwards.
'They're some sort of giant mutant eel.' Tryll tells the group.
"Gross! I want one!"
Doing anything else thi sturn?

"Aw, I sorta wanted to keep one!" Calleigh whines.
"You are too attached to...things," Dana finishes, "Ah fuck it, you're too attached to squid things like Tryll."
Miranda meanwhile splashes ahead, peering further. "Nothing that I see," she calls back. "At least yet."
Benyen wades ahead with her, sword out and ready.
"What? Does that mean I'm turning into a SQUID!?"
And thus the intrepid adventurers press on!
"Yep," Dana retorts back, as you go ahead, down the river and the bend. Here it comes to a curious thing - a gap in the ground, yet it's not right. Water seems to splash upwards instead of falling down to it, the water flowing back towards.
Tryll takes a look.
The water's flowing up and not down. It's flowing up and not down. No, that's not right. You're upside down and gravity's wrong and you're falling - !
But since you can fly, flipping around and righting yourself is easy. The river now runs along the ceiling and is below you, while the waterfall falls from afar, down what looks like a fairly wide passage going up (that was previously going down).
'Altered gravity ahead.' Tryll warns. 'It appears to flip.'
"Flip?" Dana asks back.
"Like it goes upside down flip?" Benyen says, "That's great!" he cries, leaping ahead and down, seeming to turn end over end in the air before righting himself. Grinning, "That's great! Dana come on, try it!"
"Hey that looks fun!"
Dana leaps, flipping as well and laughing. Miranda hops down, her own smile whens he rights herself. "That is fun," she confesses. "It's a sudden rush, so long as you can stop falling. Calleigh, you try it."
Calleigh blips back into corporeality and dives in!
Woaaaah! It's like she's flipped all at once and everything's spinny and dizzy and fun!
"Wheee!" Calleigh flips end over end, spinning.
Meanwhile, Tryll examines the area and attempts to locate the source of the effect.

There's no magic here, but your planar lore suggests that for whatever reason, a powerful entity set the gravity to change there. It's not impossible for a deity or similar figure, after all.
Does it go anywhere?
It continues ahead, yes. Feel free to go up the waterfall.
Tryll indeed scouts ahead while the others are enjoying themselves.
This platform goes to the top of the waterfall. Here, atop the waterfall, sits a portal.
Tryll heads back down. 'Found another portal at the top. Maybe this one will be more interesting than the last.'
"About time," Dana says, flying up with you.
"We'd best be ready for a fight," Miranda agrees, "In case something goes wrong."
"Or right!" Calleigh chips in.
Any prep before you go in?
Calleigh will toss out Death Ward for everyone, CL 5
Cool. Who goes in first in case it matters?
Dana & Benyen!
Dana and Benyen go through. Well, at least there's no explosion right off or worse. Miranda follows, bow at the ready.
TRyll and Calleigh are next through!
You stand in a small, cramped room. It is dominated by one massive thing, barely enough space to stand and for the portal back left. A glimmering crystal expands out far and wide. Within the crystal is a massive thing of tornado winds and vague form, something perhaps a giant humanoid in shape, if not in body.
'...'
"..."
"I SAW IT FIRST!' Tryll and Calleigh both yell at each other, at the same time.
Dana snorts, "Tough fucking luck, I was here first. The hell is it?"
Miranda peers up, "It's too big to be anything but...could it be a primal elemental?" she muses aloud.
'Everyone stand back. I'm going to try psionics.' Tryll says to the group.
He heads up to the crystal and reaches out with a probing thought, 'Hello.'
Do you have mind blank up?
Yep!
A pure backlash of mental energies, stopped only by your protections. It leaves you staggered a moment even so, a sheer wellspring of anger, fury and hate.
Calleigh casts Detect Evil!
'Oh wow, okay. Yeah, probably should've done that in the first place.'
It radiates overwhelming evil.
What's your total hit dice for the sake of effects, Calleigh?
Same as TRyll, so 32 I believe.
It's strong, enough to make Calleigh feel dizzy and queasy. This soon passes down to bearable levels, but she still feels poorly.
"Ugh! Yuck! Big surprise! It's super DUPER evil! Why would we expect to find anything else here!?" Calleigh makes a face.
"So now fuckin' what, then? Dana says, nudging the thing with her toe.
'I mean, it's probably imprisoned here. Probably safe to just leave it here forever.' Tryll concedes.
"Probably," Miranda says, "I can see no reason not to, if it is secure here."
"Looks secure to me," Benyen raps his gauntlet clad knuckles against it.
Tryll looks around for any other exits.
None that you can see - including the portal out, which uh, isn't there now.
'Oh dear.' Tryll remarks. 'That's ominous.'
"Huhwhat-uh oh. That's not good." Calleigh notices and agrees.
Hungry...food has come...
"Eh?" Benyen glances back, "Did you hear that?"
"Yep. I heard the thing. It sounds hungry. Since this guy's evil, it probably wants to eat us, huh?" Calleigh asks.
"Probably," Miranda agrees, bow readied. "Do we have any way out of here at all?"
"Not that I see," Benyen volunteers. "Which means we're up for a fight!"
'Maybe we'll earn a way out by destroying whatever's coming?'
Hungry...food has come...
Spot check.

You can notice tiny little holes are smoothly opening all over the massive crystal.
"Well that's probably not good!" Calleigh says, pointing at the holes.
Miranda eyes them, "That is a problem," she agrees quickly, "Can you seal them quickly?"
"Very quickly," Dana adds, "Don't think it'll give us the time."
"No sealer stuff!" Calleigh says cheerfully, "Guess we'll have to fight!"
Suddenly you feel a pull - from the various holes, raw air power and suction pulling at the party.

Calleigh takes half, Tryll takes half, Dana and Miranda take full, Benyen takes half. HP you two?
SR allowed? Is it a poison effect?
No and no.
Sorry for the delay. The spoiler block I was maintaining in a notepad document got removed due to a reboot. I'll need to re-do it at home. Tryll

Before you can react, there is a sharp suction from the holes in the crystal. Flesh and blood are torn away from all of you, gushing into those holes and into the creature beyond. It isn't stopping, either.
"Fuck!" Dana cries as Miranda staggers, icy armor splattered by her own crimson blood. She coughs up more of the same before her hand goes to her chest, a quick incantation.
Heal on herself, +150 HP.
Calleigh, go.

"What?! Hey! How's that even work! I'm a little ball of light!" Calleigh shouts at the crystal, diving behind Miranda.
Calleigh will hold as she doesn't really have a lot of options right now.

Go you three, including Tryll.
What kind of crystal is that? Anything I can exploit?
Gimme K:D.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+14 : 9 + 14, total 23[/blockquote]
It looks like quartz, almost certainly magically augmented in some way. It's possible the held creature is doing this, so you can't say that with certainty.
Tryll lashes out at the crystal with a disintegration beam!

Dana rages against the storms, bracing as she spews sonic fury - yet nothing happens, her sound lost amid the storm.
"Doesn't fucking work!" Dana calls, as Benyen races in against the storm, Hell Striker coming down...yet mere air is cut to no effect.
"Damn, nothing," Benyen seconds.
Before you the creature shifts - becoming one long and narrow needle of wind. It slams backwards into the wall, drilling into it and through, rapidly progressing through the stone and away.
Miranda clutches her chest, "Ah...what is that?" she asks, all while healing herself.
Heal, 150 HP. Calleigh.

"...I didn't know wind could do that." Calleigh admits, surprised. "Should we stop it?"
"If we can," Benyen says, "It's something sealed down here, it can't be good!"
Calleigh manifests, a crystal wand in hand, "HEY, WINDBAG!"

Obligatory 1 check for UMD[blockquote]Rolled 1d20 : 3, total 3[/blockquote]
Ranged Touch[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+29 : 3 + 29, total 32[/blockquote]
Cool, UMD made. Now a ranged touch roll since tornado blast requires it regardless.
Oh sorry, didn't see it was a new page. New post coming.
Your winds blow - yet the creature of wind is not phased in the least, the attack rolling off of him and pushed back, fizzling.
No joy. Okay, Dana, Tryll'n'Benyen are up. Go.

Yet the beast of air isn't even phased by that, the winds finding no purchase on its gusty body.
Now Tryll and friends. Go.
Tryll reaches out across the planes and dumps a small but significant chunk of the negative energy plane on the wind in order to get its attention.

Yet not a thing happens - it's clearly immune to it, 100%. Not a single reaction as...
That it for your turn?
Yep
Acid comes from Dana, the breath of a black dragon that does nothing.
Benyen shields the party as it digs in and away, burrowing deeper and deeper, clearing distance.
"Can we even hurt it?" Dana wonders aloud.
Not much they can do in this situation. Calleigh, go.
"I don't think I have anything that'll hurt this guy." Calleigh says.
She's holding.
Okay then, Tryll?
Tryll tries a double dose of disintegration.

Those strike the wind and gets its attention, hunks of it stopping and gone entirely. Benyen and Dana step ahead, shielding the way as Benyen calls, "We got its attention," she says, "That's a good thing, right?"
"Maybe!" Calleigh says, watching from behind Miranda's shoulder.
The creature...turns and jets forward, ripping through stone fast. It burrows down a tiny, needlelike tunnel, leaving all of you behind fast. Stone fragments are sent flying out back in your direction, easy enough to avoid but clogging the tiny passage ahead.
"...or it could do that," Miranda says, "Not even I can shoot an arrow through that with so little space."
'Surely this will not come back to bite us in the future.' Tryll remarks.
"So...now what do we do?" Benyen asks, scratching at the side of his head.
"Try and find the fucking portal out?" Dana suggests, "Shit, we must've guessed wrong and need to backtrack a shitload."
Tryll opens a gate back to before the sewer trip.
Nothing happens - the gate magic simply doesn't work here. It doesn't take a genius to tell something's suppressing that sort of magic here.
Tryll will Detect Psionics to see what the hey is going on!
Also note that True Seeing is still active.
Sure, Spellcraft or Psicraft or whatever deviltry you have.
[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+53 : 6 + 53, total 59[/blockquote]
There's a spell woven into the stones here, visible now and shimmering - under stress. It stops creatures from teleporting in and out, a single portal aside.
Tryll will disntegrate the magical stones, then!
Okay, how big an area can you affect per disintegration and how many can you manage?
10x10x10 cube, 2/round
It takes six disintegrations, but the stones are dust and you believe the barrier is as well.
TRyll opens the gate again.
'Perhaps we can just pretend we were never here?' he suggests.
"Wise, except for if that creature menaces others," Miranda points out, "Then it is cowardice."
'Is it really that bad if it's menacing other creatures of Pandemonium?' Tryll counters.
"Will it stay in Pandemonium?" Miranda counters right back.
'Alright fine, we'll track it down.' Tryll replies. 'We're never going to find any Sharrans in this place anyhow.'
"Oh yeah, I totally forgot why we were here!" Calleigh says.
"Then let's go," Dana says, "Should be a good fuckin' fight if we can find a way to hurt it."
Tryll will use Examine Astral Reverberations to find their quarry!
Okay, using the baseline or paying for any of the add ons?
Good point.
Will DC 40 negates
Power will show where the creature is and what it's doing, as well as postulating a future action.
CL check to beat Mind Blank:[blockquote]Rolled 1d20+35 : 3 + 35, total 38[/blockquote]
The creature is burrowing through solid rock tremendously fast. You can see this won't end anytime soon.
Thinking he is very terribly clever, Tryll opens an astral ingress directly in front of the creature, in hopes of depositing it before them.
One problem: Ahead of it is solid stone, and you can't manifest it there. The stone gets in the way, you know?
Then we will strike that line.
'It's still burrowing. Looks like it'll go on for a while.'
"We have time to think and act," Miranda says, "Can we meaningfully hurt it?"
"Probably fuckin' not," Dana growls, "But shit, that's what Morniel's golden ass is for, isn't it? Let the people who put it here tell us how to sort that shit out. Shit's fucked, so we need to find out how to yank the giant dick out of this situation's ass."
'Disintegrate works on absolutely everything. Except golems.' Tryll points out.
"Enough to kill something like that?" Dana retorts, "Hope so."
'So we're agreed on putting the Sharrans aside and chasing this...thing?'
"Yeah," Benyen says, "It's your fault it's free, we have to make it right."
"His fault, our fault, whatever. We go and kick its ass," Dana agrees.
'Of course, blame the flying squid monster.' Tryll grumbles.
Benyen says, "If you didn't want to free it, why'd you disintegrate the crystal around it?" His expression is a half frown, "I was wondering that."
'Do you not recall how it was sucking blood out of everyone?'
"Well yeah," Benyen says, "What about it?"
'I tried to stop it. Didn't work. Sorta.'
With that, all of you decide to...
Ball is in your court. What's your move?
Dana's got a good idea.
Tryll manifests a Correspond! 'Morniel! It's Tryll. We accidentally a very angry, hateful, and drill-like air elemental thing in Pandemonium trapped in crystal. Know what this is?'
'I'm afraid I don't. Do you request my aid?'
'Well, it's currently drilling its way through Pandemonium at speed, destination unknown. Was hoping you'd know what we were dealing with.'
'I'll ask Vul'lath,' Is Morniel's answer. 'Is it urgent?'
'Tryll looks at the others, 'Fairly? I might get hit by a valkyrie if I don't take this seriously.'
'I see. I'll send you back shortly.'
Because Tryll can do this at will, 'Much obliged.'
It's not long until, 'Describe it in depth,' Vul'lath says shortly.
'Giant crystal containing humanoid made of wind. Crystal drained blood from us through the air. Evil, angry, hateful. Shouted of freedom and drilled through wall.'
'Where were you when you encountered it?' Is the next question.
'Exploring Pandemonium, underground cavern. Hidden, through some sort of sewer. Not obvious.'
'You may have just freed an abomination,' Vul'lath sends back. 'Congratulations.'
'So you're saying we absolutely have to kill it?'
'If you can.' Vul'lath says, 'If.'
'Good point. Thanks for your help, Vul'lath. Hope you're well.'
'Good luck,' Is the answer.
Next move?
Contacting Morniel again.
'I was wrong. Vul'lath thinks it's an abomination. Will likely need backup.'
'The return and we can prepare,' Morniel responds. 'This is no trifling.'
'Where is the Aurora, currently?' Tryll says to Morniel.
'We're going to the Aurora. Sharrans are on hold for now. Morniel wants to see us.' Tryll says to the group.
Thus the group goes and...
Congratulations, you reached level 34. We'll resume once your level ups are done.
