"Yeah. Old info - about a century, found it out from a copper dragon in Lliira's quarter." Melia stretches, "One of the casinos briefly won something called Syllen's Gambit from someone who made a big gamble and lost bigger. It was sold to merchants in Waukeen's quarter, and from there the lead's dead because the merchant folded up a few years later. I was trying to scratch up some information, but I ran out of money to fund it."

The knight is an elf in heavy armor, an open faced helmet showing his lean, beautiful face. He's a little short and well built otherwise, waiting for you in the courtyard. His armor is simple and unadorned, a plain gauntlet with an eye engraved onto it across the breasptlate.

"Duke Moore," The elf kneels, "I am Knight Salamaz Derune, in service to the Eternal Watchman Helm. By the command of Helm, I am to base a strike group of 100 warriors here, both for your defense and so that we may have a safe rest point." He reaches into a pouch and withdraws a scroll, "A copy of the orders are here, co-signed by Lord Barachiel."

My forces are en route, they are composed of an ascended elven brigade who served Lord Helm in mortal life."

"Oh yes, I'm on it," Grias says, drifting off right away.

Not currently.

Moore goes to go write a letter of requisition for 5 Stones of Sending.

He's requesting 5 items that can be used as Sending, except that are instant. The going price for them that I believe we had agreed on previously was 60,000 gold each. He's basically just writing the request for the use of the people in Hope's Landing to be passed out as needed to stay in comminucation depending on where they go and all that.

I'm not sure who it'd need to be addressed to, specifically, but I'm sure we can handwave that if you don't want to deal with it.

The maw of war is greedy, greedier than the souls of those who come to Mineral to become rich. It consumes without end and without satiation. It is as feeding a glutton and hoping something worthwhile grows from his shit.

At this Jetina smiles faintly, "That may be so, but ah...you do understand fertilizers for farming?" Coughing discreetly, "To continue the metaphor, sir."

Xandra gives Jetina a sidelong look, "I am glad I do not need to eat, for my appetite is now curdled."

I will not offer forces, Mineral stays out of such wars and we are busy and entangled with Ogremoch. If you are here for support, I will give it in other ways.

He clears his throat. "This is not just a war for the sake of wars, this is a war of ideals, of hope and change. This a war to liberate slaves across all the planes from the Efreet. It was not that long ago that I did also find myself aiding earth elementals who had been slaves and helping to liberate them."

A small pause as he considers something.

"I only want you to know that I will continue to do as I always have, to bring hope to the hopeless against those who would try and control and hold others against their will. Know that regardless, Hope's Landing will always stand with you and Mineral. You may always call on me to help aid you, as I did with the Sharrans and will continue to do." He finally says.

I am pretty sure the details of this are right, but if you remember them differently let me know.

A pause before he continues. "We will accept whatever support you are willing to share." He says.

"The relationship that I have with you and Mineral was formed before I began working with Mount Celestia. Nonetheless, I do not believe we would be going to war if the Master of the Illuminated Heavens did not see a reason in doing so." He says, as he takes in another breath.

Another long, silent pause as he considers his words.

"I will not ask you to abandon your principals and to thrust Mineral into a war you do not believe in. This war is similar to the one you have with Ogremoch -- it is a war of ideals, of what is right and what is wrong. I am making this request as Duke Moore of Celestia, and as a friend to Mineral -- but understand that I have no reservations of offering you aid first, if that would allow you more freedoms." Moore says.

"If you would like, you are welcome to send a representative to Hope's Landing in Lunia who can stay in direct contact with you, as well as to oversee everything that's going on. I can relay any information we have to them so you can be kept up to date." Moore says. "As for funds... that is a surprisingly difficult question to answer. Cresiel, Xandra, what do you two think? I would imagine most of the funding would come from Jovar for us, don't you think?" He turns to look at the two of them!

Hell is before you.

Before you the beaches of Lunia are torn open, efreet pouring in. Portals, so many of them, all ringing a vast portal far away, hundreds of feet wide and tall. From these portals glimpses of Fire can be seen, efreet and soldiers gushing in. Here war is made - efreet columns face down archon legions, flying warriors facing angelic defenders. Fire flashes as holy power shines down, the light of Chronias almost blinding from above. You stand on a cliff perhaps 30ft above the beach level, seeing the carnage, seeing the war. Fire wars with light, the conflict reaching seeming to horizon to horizon.

So many do war - thousands on a glance, surely vastly more about, amid this breech.

Before you is Barachiel.

"I have little time," he says, "Attempt to scythe through, reach portals and close them. Blunt this attack."

In the interests of efficiency:

Harmonize (allows bardic music to be started as a move action)
Greater Carrying Voice (+1500 feet range)
Inspirational Boost (+1 to Inspire Courage)

Songs:

Inspire Courage, +18  morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +18 morale bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
Destined Strike: +4 to attack and damage rolls, Improved Critical Feat, +15 to threat confirmation.

So everyone gets +22 bonus to attack and damage, Improved Crit, and then +15 to any crit confirms that happen.

There are other Bardic Musics, but they only target individuals and not groups, so if we run into heavier resistance Moore will use those.

Amid the carnage, the bloodshed and the fury? Amid burning angels, light blinded efreet (so much was blinded by the light, wasn't it) and the din of combat. Mercy comes. Mercy comes to the defenders, healing wounds and countering the flames in a burst of energy that touches you. In that instant your pain is gone.

Yet a brigade of fire giants clashing against a pair of six winged solars are not healed, nor are the marching legion of azer, peppered with arrows from hound archons.  You can see the battle rage, portals weathering even as healing is given freely. Your song echos as well, the battle surging within range of it, wounds healing and efreet lines being pushed back, wounds given as the genie offensive is momentarily countered, a furious assault.

Everyone heals 33 damage and is healed of all ability damage and drain. Does not apply to invaders, obviously.

The beach level is warfare, brigades against brigades - a long archon line ahead where efreet clash, then various advances and strong points holding as the attackers push against them. Fires explode here, magic bursting on both sides, flaming rocks, arrows and spells all raining down on the land defenders.

In the air things are more chaotic - ever moving battles, aerial combat en masse. Here three dimensions result in ever moving battle lines, angels and genies doing war above. Here it is less the blade and strong point than spells and maneuvering, foes fighting largely from afar and spreading out as needed. It's all mixed together as well, no lines unlike the land battle.

How do you wish to proceed?

With a command word (Iosidas), this blocker blocks teleportation in a one mile radius. It can't be moved while it is active or it automatically de-activates. The same command word de-activates it as well.

Planar energies are wild here - surging and throbbing with the portals and efforts to close them. Teleporting closer is probably -highly- hazardous and attempts to stop the portals save for directly on them likely muddled beyond any success. Whatever is being done here, it's on a direct level of the planes themselves.

Draconic Tyrant Triumphant boosts a dragon's dragonfear, gives a large bonus to Intimidation as well as a bonus to commanding cowed and obedient minions. Worthless on you because you aren't a dragon.

Zahaladar's Exhalation: Heals the dragon whenever it uses its breath weapon and deals damage. The healing isn't a lot, but it's free.

Pepperball: The dragon's breath weapon also stuns creatures who fail the Reflex save for one round. It's a tweaked version of another spell, using pepper to cause the stunning via uncontrolled sneezing. Why he's using that is anyone's guess.

Zahaladar is a draconic name, though you don't recall the wyrm in question. Probably really obscure or wans't a big deal beyond the spell.

Minor note, Kaja's AC should be 65+7+12 because of songs, so I believe that attack should've missed him.

Since I think it got lost in the shuffle, the current song effects on the three of them are in total:

Okay, I wasn't able to find the B3 example, but I am aware of the B1 one. Basically this is a really shitty situation since it's something we didn't really think about in creating this and it raises a valid question.

For now and for the sake of dealing with this particular situation, I'm going to allow a Reflex save. For the future, I'd like us to work out an addition to antimagic sound that addresses what happens in this case.

Ahead the heat haze twists and shimmers, as if daring you to go forward. The path ahead on the ground looks clear, at least immediately ahead, but it's hazy. The sky is hazy as well, but is currently filled with various warriors waging war against one another.

You fly on ahead, progressing through the haze. It's hard to see anything ahead of you now, but you see it just in time. The ground beneath you is suddenly boiling sand and molten glass, a cry of alarm from Kaja letting him hop back and into Jetina.

A shimmer. Light shines on the horizon towards what should be the portals, momentarily piercing the heat haze. Another beam, leaving nothing of the efreet behind.

"Almost there," Kaja says, "Around and forward!"

You couldn't fail the Perception check.

On and on and on you hurry - and finally you pass through the haze. Ahead is chaos, a fortified zone of efreet. They hold the line here, great masses of them with shields and barriers, blocking the way. Arrows and fire, are already hurtling towards you, flaming boulders and worse. But it's ahead! You're maybe 1/3rd of a mile to the portals now! You're getting closer, even as carpet riding efreet can be seen, flying over to join the battle deeper in.

You hold position amid everything, amid the charges. Flashes of white by you as the efreet above is forced to dodge, skewered through the arm. A winged celestial atop a white mount swoops down to your level, shield out and cries, "Hop on! We're ending this, Duke Moore, and we need your help!" A man, clad in full armor save for his wings, and his mount is much the same.

Meanwhile you complete your spells, casting them about, power filling all of them.

Taking on on his Ride check for 100 after bonuses and using a class feature.

Yet the mount goes amid the arrows and the boulders, not touched once. You're amid the charge, going forward but behind the first line. The lines are breaking, the aerial support splintering. "Give is more, Duke Moore! Drive us to victory!" The rider calls, as you see charges hitting the ranks of archers and ballista behind the lines, pressing ever forward.

You hold on as the forces pierce through - and with a mighty charge, the front line and the second line are shattered locally. A hole has been made! Ahead you can see the portals - no long efreet streaming through but instead falling back, retreating and using magic to get supplies back as well.

"Come on," The rider says, "More!" An efreet is impaled in the meantime, exploding as its heart is skewered by the rider's lance. "The cowards flee! Don't let them!"

Sing the Holy Choir, using the 'everyone gets Holy Power on their next attack' property, swift.
Using his movement ability on Inspire Courage, so, I suppose everyone in range gets Holy Power for one attack. :)


"NOW!" Moore shouts.

And he will use his standard on Rally Attack, so everyone within 30 feet of Moore can make a standard attack, with Holy Power. :)

Would my arcane knowledge tell me if

1) Miracle/Wish would be a stronger bet than a Disjunction if I'm primarily focusing on closing the portals,
2) Antimagic Ray would do anything to them?

You channel power, a vessel through which energy flows - and to your surprise, there is little resistance. Holy power floods you and through you, a portal and then another closing. Two collapse before you are turned away, seeing the battlefield. The efreet are largely retreating en masse now, orderly but escaping before your eyes. The forces are rallying, no pretense at holding land now. Yet the surviving portals are used, efreet on carpets escaping through it, escaping back to whence they came.

The light of Chronias above glows brighter and brighter. A glimmer from it, a beam coming large as a city. The beam that comes strikes the main portal, shattering it like a rock through glass. It is utterly annihilated, only secondary portals remaining. You glimpse efreet fleeing even more, the surviving portals providing succor to them. Surviving archons and angels push back, purusing and taking down those they could. Capturing attackers, slaying others in the field of honorable battle. The wounded and dying litter the battlefield all over, not to mention corpses, such as the dragon you slew.
