I'm setting up a SR minecraft server, and will update this post with details soon. Meantime, if you want access, post here with your minecraft username.
Quick details update: You can connect to creation.minehost.org or minecraft.soulriders.net (which is an alias for creation.minehost.org). Everyone who's posted between this and my second post should have access.
Edit:
Word on the inter-street is that Minecraft 1.1 is coming soon. Do not update to this until you see in this thread that the server has been updated. If you do, you will be unable to connect, and will have to find some way to downgrade your copy.
Sticky'd; thanks, Jon. :)
My username is: Masamichi45
I'll jump in. Halbarad for the username.
I'm interested, My minecraft name is "grevian", and I'd probably bring my girlfriend, "doko-demo-issho"
initialo
And let me burn grey's house.
Only if you bring your girlfriend too.
Count me in. I'm RagnarIV on minecraft.
You're in.
Discussion time: shall we nerf creepers and endermen?
Nooo, don't nerf them! Increase their spawn rate! =p
Endermen don't bother me. Creeper environmental damage is really annoying.
I may be the only one who uses armor....
Endermen just disturb me. There's something not right about how they look.
Take a good long look right at one of them next time. You'll see.
They always teleport away.... But if you use an ender pearl, you can teleport, too!
So, to me they look dark and teleporty. What's creepy is the dark particles floating over the void-- My primary mining shaft goes down to bedrock now. o_o
Mind if I drop by and construct a magnificent castle made out of dirt?
Username is Tief_Blau
Okay, you're in. And I've set endermen to always spawn around Merc when he logs in.
Haha, joke's on you! I don't even own minecraft! =p
FFffffffffffffffff-- Fuck it.

I'm interested.. TorMelkson.
Also what mapping software is being used?
Drac, this is Wally.
Now even more pokeable.
Possibly :)

Done! and, no idea.
Man, a lot of stuff's been added since I last played. Stick me on as Ebiris.
Enjoy!
Also, the server comes with a 20-slot voice chat server (http://mumble.sourceforge.net/). Would this get any use, or would it just be one sad dude sitting in voice chat talking to himself?
I'd probably use it. I don't know about anyone else, though.
Edit: Wait, am I that one sad dude? >.<
If my connection supported it, which it doesn't, I'd use it. >.>;
I'm interested in joining.
My username is Kaldrak.
hello i would like access to the minecraft server my user name is Onibatsu
Welcome to the collective, Rune.
(He's a great healer, BTW. As soon as they impliment raid dungeons, he's MH, I'm MT. :3 I trust him. :D)
Alright. Implimenting raid dungeons. Talked with Natch and I think it can be banged out this week. The bosses will wipe out 1/3rd of the map randomly if you screw up phase 2 though.
It's 'Notch'.
And he stepped down five days ago. >.>
But alright. :p
The boss shall be FailDracos.
Beware, his opening attack is: Unending Victory Paradigm - Drac always wins.
Huh, really though, Notch stepped down from his super-behemoth company?
I'm not wholly clear on it -- I believe he's still in charge of design, but he's delegated lead programming to Jeb?
Admittedly, as much as I'm enjoying the game, it's not enough for me to bother investigating further. :p
We have a portal to The End now open! Should probably see about getting a time organized for folks that want to have a hand in taking out the Enderdragon.
I gotta get a diamond sword, now. I mean, if you can't lose THAT in The End, what CAN you lose?
Exploration/Raid mod discussion from IRC
<Fujisawa> ATTN: Minecrafters:
<Fujisawa> http://www.cogscomic.com/Artifact/Design_Doc_Artifact.jpg
<Fujisawa> Thoughts?
* Fujisawa really likes the idea of building a museum to house these.
<jon> i've seen this
<jon> unfortunately, I think it requires a client mod
<Fujisawa> Ah.
<Fujisawa> I also don't like that the bennies come from holding them.
<jon> basically anything with new block types requires a client mod
<jon> which is why economy mods tend to rely on /commands in chat
<Fujisawa> Yeah ... interesting, but not that multiplayer friendly.
<Onigiri> Combine that insanely rare thing with all your items vanishing shortly after dying... nope
<Fujisawa> Yeah. I was thinking about that.
<Fujisawa> I do like the idea of mysterious hidden things for us to find and collect.
<Fujisawa> But I'd rather have, say, us build a museum, and having it stocked benefits the entire server without carrying things.
<Onigiri> Oh sure, being entirely optional I don't have a problem with it being there.
<jon> Fujisawa: hm, interesting mod idea
<Fujisawa> So there's a reason to get a bunch of players to gather/collect things.
<Fujisawa> Everyone benefits.
<Fujisawa> That one ... kinda sucks if one guy gets the helm, someone else has the sword, etc.
<Fujisawa> And if one dude falls into lava while carrying, well, _anything_....
<Onigiri> I like the unbreakable pick.
<Onigiri> I would like to be able to craft that.
<Fujisawa> Yeah....
<@jon> Fujisawa: i could write a server-only mod for that
<Fujisawa> For which?
<@jon> probably reuse the spawner block type
<@jon> your proposed idea
<Fujisawa> What about using ... let's see. Bedrock?
<Fujisawa> Just make sure it occurs higher up -- above, say, 10, below 30?
<Fujisawa> Spawner would probably work, too, but might alarm some players. :p
<@jon> yeah, i was just thinking of it being visually distinctive
<@jon> maybe a golden block surrounded by glass blocks?
<@jon> and when you get it, you have to then make it back to the museum alive with it, or it goes back to another dungeon somewhere
<@jon> and while you're carrying it, it causes more monsters to spawn near you
<@jon> raid mod!
<@jon> "Spawners can be given unusual entity IDs like Minecart or Boat to make a decorative block with the named entity spinning inside the cage."
<@jon> there we go
<@jon> have a spawner with a Golden Apple inside it
<Fujisawa> Perfect.
<Fujisawa> Okay, then we need to figure out what qualifies as proper placement to provide the server buff.
<Fujisawa> I guess putting it on a pair of stone slabs (not cobblestone)?
<@jon> well, you spec it out and i'll build it?
<Fujisawa> Why don't we start discussing this in the minecraft thread?
<@jon> okay
<Fujisawa> Get some feedback on what other people think would be cool, too?
<Fujisawa> :D
Please comment.
Basically-- Minecraft is limited on co-op stuff, generally, beyond, "Check out what I built!"
I'd like to expand on this, and some sort of simplified 'Artifact' mod where we collect Items of Power and place them somewhere that buffs the entire server (well, the players, anyway) sounds like a good step in that direction.
> Reading the Minecraft thingy ma bobber.
> I'll have some feedback in a few.
> What about having the server admin being able to designate buildings as specific things? Like, once complete, they can sort of check the box that we have a museum built and the server gives a bonus to.. say.. refined construction materials durability or something. Stone/bricks get more durability.
> (I don't know if such a thing is possible; not a programmer type)
> Each building does something different. An actual community forge would increase ingot/metal durability for picks, shovels, swords, and armor.
> Ect.
<Kuyou> Post in the thread about it.
<Kuyou> I like that idea.
<Kuyou> I think what we'd do is we'd put a furnace in there.
<Kuyou> And it'd be a special one that provided a server buff as long as we kept it stocked with iron.
<Kuyou> And then we could make a lumbermill. Those would increase mining/wood harvesting respectively.
<Kuyou> It'd burn slower than a regular furnace, so putting (for example) a full stack of iron in would last more than a day.
<Kuyou> How's that sound?
> Yeah, that sounds pretty solid. It'd require everyone to contribute to feeding it all.
What say ye?
Ideas: A furnace that allows you to convert a full stack of coal into a single diamond.
Also, Onigiri, sorry about your animals -- your livestock pen was poorly lit and filled up with creepers. I repaired it while we were redoing the melon farm in stone (creeper took out the melon chest -- very annoying).
Additionally, death-by-lava needs to be examined, re: And you lose all your stuff.
Just got a totally BS death by being arrow-pinged into a lava pool, and then shoved back in by skelly knockback so I couldn't even burn to death where my hour+ of loot could (maybe) be picked back up. I understand challenge and all, but that's too severe a penalty when it's frequently entirely an RNG issue that's entirely out of player hands.
Death in general is going to be slightly nerfed as soon as Bukkit is available: I'm installing a mod that puts all your stuff in a chest when you die.
I'm not sure that handles lava, though.
Edit: Death-by-lava is sad. But it's the destruction of all your gear, too, that bugs me.
That's a nice everything you have there.
Shame if anything was to happen to...
*Alt-F4, Screwyou*
Okay, who went off and explored in a square shape?
Hal.
We finally found snow.
He should have written out his name with his exploration. =)
Also: http://www.dorkly.com/article/24359/office-minecraft
Bukkit has been released for Minecraft 1.0.1. Should end up on the server sometime tonight.
We will have: worldedit/worldguard, and a mod which puts your gear in a chest in a safe spot when you die, right next to a tombstone for you.
To consider: some sort of economy system to pay for things like "teleport me home from this dark cave" or "give me invincibility this night". That is, these seem like things that would be nice to have, but they should cost something, be it diamonds, XP, or some "point" system where you earn points for doing things and then spend them on other things.
I would also recommend CommandBook (same guys that did WorldGuard/WorldEdit), has a lot of handy commands that ops at least will find useful.
Recommendation is also for some kind of warp mod. MyWarp was what I recall using on my server back in the day, but pretty much anything should be fine; warp creation (if not usage) is something we'll probably want restricted.
Aside from that, I'm open to suggestions. Never used any of the economy mods myself, and the only other thing I'd ever considered (but never got around to) was CraftBook.
Suggestion: Everything costs EXP, and diamonds can be spent (somehow) to buy levels?
People, please put up signs on your property. We have enough players it's hard to tell who owns what. Who's is this:
http://creation.minehost.org/overviewer/#/295/64/-696/max/lighting
Or this:
http://creation.minehost.org/overviewer/#/14/64/-590/max/lighting
Or this:
http://creation.minehost.org/overviewer/#/-78/64/-33/max/lighting
Or this:
http://creation.minehost.org/overviewer/#/-136/64/220/max/lighting
If it's communal, or open to all, put up a sign for that, too. Signs are also great if you plan on building somewhere and haven't yet, and can warn players away from mining, say, straight down into your house if you live in a mountain cave. Claim your territory! :)
If there's space to build bizarre mechanical things, count me in. Username: Agasa.
Added to the whitelist, but won't be on until later. You'll probably encounter our resident youkai first.
So we're using a crack until we decide if we actually like the game and want to stick around, so I'm not sure if we can get to you or not, but usernames Bactchan and Absinthe (myself and my wife.) (Or just myself if that's not kosher inviting others along)
Shouldn't be a problem; gray brought his girlfriend in.
Added.
Your crack won't work, I believe; the server verifies with the Minecraft guys that you've a valid account.
Also, grey said he'd get his girlfriend to post at least once; that's the requirement. Since he doesn't seem to have done so, I'm going to kick her out.
So, yeah, your wife is fine; just have her come over to the forum and say hi.
So are we still minecrafting? I haven't seen anyone else online in some time.
I was on last night. :3
I'll be back to playing again once I return to Afghanistan.
Okay, good enough. I guess it's also holidays.
Just wanted to be sure folks were still using it.
I just added on to my dirt castle!
There's still more I want to do with it but it's kinda difficult to get things just right, but yeah I'm still using it. Just haven't in a while.
Word on the inter-street is that Minecraft 1.1 is coming soon. Do not update to this until you see in this thread that the server has been updated. If you do, you will be unable to connect, and will have to find some way to downgrade your copy.
Speaking of different versions, I saw an android Minecraft app. Is it compatible?
As far as I know, the mobile Minecraft apps are singleplayer only (there's one for iOS as well).
I think the iOS one is multiplayer, but only with other mobile versions; it can't connect to the server. They also only have limited subsets of the gameplay.
Deepest apologies for necroposting (ARISE, CHICKEN! ARISE!) but I was curious as to what version of the server is running now, what mods (if any) are on it and to note that I'm legit now but my wife doesn't care to come along so she's staying in crackedland and you can remove Absinthe from the whitelist.
I realize that with 1.3 around the corner the whole multiplayer thing is going to change pretty drastically, and with 1.4 releasing the official mod API sometime things have potential to get even crazier. Just curious as to where we are with that.
Well, going to give running minecraft server a try on my firewall... it may or may not have enough guts to be a good enough server... So we can test it to find out.
It's currently online at minecraft.yggdrasil.ca:25565.
Going to go back through this thread and add people to the whitelist.
Request reup to the whitelist: Bactchan
Wow, thought I had email notify set for this thread.
At any rate, added :)
UPDATE: We've moved the server over to FTB, which is using a much more up-to-date version of Minecraft itself - Tekkit appears not to have been updated in quite some time.
http://feed-the-beast.com/
The server IP is 142.4.54.25. It's whitelisted, so if you'd like to join just post in here and we can add you to the list.
There's nothing special to note with FTB other than to make sure you're running the 1.4.2 BetaA version (should be the last thing in the list on the left in the launcher); no extra mod updates required.
Requesting rewhitelist replease.
Still getting "kicked by operator" error. Username is Bactchan.
I have updated one of the mods included in our server to get some rather awesome functionality that we were missing. To connect, you'll need to download the updated mod version here:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/88825306/Mods/gregtechmod208e.zip
Place this in your FTBBETAA/minecraft/mods folder, and move or delete the "GregTechmod.zip" file that's already there. Once this is done, you should be able to connect again... and we'll be able to build some rather awesome new industrial equipment.
Requesting whitelist please.
IGN: Gorstavich
Server is in flux due to updating. Rather than using an extensive personal modset, we're switching to Mindcrack, which is basically what we had before but updated. We do need to customize it to add Mystcraft back in, but generally, we're going to be gaining stuff and features, fixes, and so on.
Things to hooray about!
Hal is also looking into personal pack keys, so we can use just one key and grab all the wanted mods. That'll be great!
But it's not done yet, so pardon our creeper fumes. :D
Okay. Good news: everything is back up and running using Mindcrack.
Meh news: You'll need to download Mystcraft manually from here (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/918541-146-mystcraft-09500/). Just drop the zip file in your MindCrack/minecraft/mods folder.
Bad news: Private pack keys are an -upcoming- feature for FTB, they're not usable just yet. I'll look into this to streamline the modding process as soon as they're working, but for now any additional mods will have to be manually added/updated.
Tabyk: You have been added to the whitelist. =)
Note: FTB launcher will erase the contents of the mod folders for the various packs (mindcrack, ftbA, etc.), so be sure to back those up before letting it automatically update anything. Texture packs seem fine.
Someone thought it would be funny to set up one of the portals to disarm and trap anyone who took it on an island with nasea, mining fatigue, and slow.
So I lost all my inventory and am stuck in a pretty bullshit unfun zone.
I will delete my player.dat file, as that's the only way I can get back into the world, and hey, thanks to someone being 'clever', I lost my entire inventory anyway.
Whoever did that ... that's griefing. It's not cool. Don't do it.
I'm pretty pissed off about this.
Everyone else: avoid any portals you didn't place yourself. You never know when someone will decide to ruin your day.
Yesterday I saw someone posting from IRC into the General chat channel.
What is the name of that IRC channel (for those of us who are bored and can't actually play at that moment)?
#ficmine
Quick question: I just reinstalled FtB and tried connecting to the server, and was informed that just about all of the mods were the wrong version. Is this being caused by me using a too-recent version of the launcher/pack?
Yes.
Time to update the server!
Quote from: Brian on March 14, 2013, 05:52:27 PMTime to update the server!
After some testing I figured out the server is running MindCrack 8.0.1 (I believe the current version is 8.2.0, but don't quote me on it). Rolling back to that and installing MystCraft 0.9.5 fixed it. :-)
Of course, if you WANT to upgrade the server....
We actually did. >_> Bumped it up to the default Ultimate pack.
Was curious... it being two years later. Is the SR Minecraft server still plodding along in some form?
Occasionally I convince Hal to revive it and we run around for a while exploring whatever the latest huge modpack on FTB is, but it's pretty much gone right now.
Ah, okay. I'm still in the process of building my home VM farm, but once it is done I could also host if requested. :-)
