[15:14] <Ebiris> After stepping through the portal, Gourash finds himself in complete darkness, his surroundings only revealed in greyscale thanks to his orcish heritage. Rounded flagstones mark the floor solidly beneath his feet, while high walls arc up beside him, dozens of alcoves in the walls stretching as far as he can see, each bearing a skeleton in various states of decay - some almost reduced to dust.
[15:14] <Ebiris> Up on the 'ceiling' perhaps thirty feet above, Gourash can see what look to be metal coffins, each one placed flush against the other to create a continuous solid surface... indeed, he can see one nearby that looks to have been forced open, the lid warped and bent to expose the humanoid skeleton within, held aloft in clear defiance of gravity.
[15:14] <Ebiris> On the walls and coffins, there appears to be carved runes... they could be Common for all of Gourash's linguistic skills, however, and he has no way to decipher them. Turning around to finish surveying his arrival point, the half-orc can see that the passageway opens out into a huge circular pit, stretching both up and down farther than the eye can see.
[15:14] <Ebiris> It is utterly choked with alcoves bearing the dead - most of which are ancient and entirely skeletal. A few other passages are seen branching off from it, though he's unable to see far down them. A clear path of flagstones much like the ones he stands on does appear to wind its way up the cylinder, branching into each of the other passages and the one he's in.
[15:14] <Ebiris> It's at this point that Eagan arrives, finding himself sadly blind in the complete darkness surrounding them. Fortunately Amonet and Marjorie's timely arrival rectifies that, shedding a warm golden light all through their surroundings as the rest of the party comes through the portal.
[15:16] * Gourash crinkles his nose at the overwhelming amount of death in the strange crypt that they'd found themselves, keeping an eye out while waiting for the entire party to come through.
[15:18] <Alveria> "As if we needed to be reminded that people die," mutters Alveria, squinting at the runes on the walls.
[15:18] <Amonet> Noticng Alveria's interest, Amonet does likewise, in a bid to distract herself from all the dead.
[15:19] <Ebiris> Its written in Gith, that Alveria can handily read. Appears to be names and dates and causes of deaths, the occassional brief eulogy. Nothing terribly exciting. "This must be Bin'Saptor's necropolis," Puk'lor observes, likewise looking around.
[15:20] <Gourash> "Good, so you know where we are," Gourash observed.
[15:20] <Ebiris> "This is creepy. Can we go, now?" Marjorie pipes up, her voice kept to a low whisper.
[15:20] * Amonet nods in agreement.
[15:21] <Alveria> "And Cassandra has come through here multiple times? She's braver than she looks... it's not trapped or anything, is it? I hear humans trap their graves, which always seems so.. weird to me."
[15:22] <Ebiris> "Perhaps it is randomly located like the other end on Xaos?" Puk'lor surmises. "We should have nothing to fear - this is merely a repository for the dead. Githzerai do not believe in leaving grave goods, or lethal defences for them, with our dead."
[15:22] <Alveria> "Ah, alright. Let's go, then," affirms Alveria, starting out.
[15:22] <Ebiris> OOC: spot checks~
[15:23] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[15:23] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 3." [1d20=2]
[15:23] <Alveria> roll 1d20+3 a compelling reason to have one level in rogue
[15:23] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5 I see dead people?
[15:23] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+3 a compelling reason to have one level in rogue and gets 21." [1d20=18]
[15:23] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 I see dead people? and gets 9." [1d20=4]
[15:23] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+5 NPC
[15:23] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+5 NPC and gets 8." [1d20=3]
[15:25] <Alveria> roll 1d20+7 the cleric guy
[15:25] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+7 the cleric guy and gets 8." [1d20=1]
[15:25] -> *Alveria* Farther down the hallway, you think you can see a small rat on the 'ceiling'... something strange about it, though, its head seeming to glow faintly for a second, before it scurries out of sight.
[15:25] <Keylin> roll 1d20+13
[15:25] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+13 and gets 33." [1d20=20]
[15:26] -> *Keylin* Farther down the hallway, you think you can see a small rat on the 'ceiling'. It's odd looking, though - it looks like its brain is exposed, and the exposed tissue glows ever so slightly as it seems to meet your eyes before scurrying away.
[15:27] <Alveria> "Hey, I swear I saw something just now," squints Alveria, pointing at the ceiling.
[15:27] <Alveria> 'Ceiling' would be a better term, though.
[15:28] <Gourash> "saw what?" Gourash looks where she's pointing.
[15:28] <Keylin> "...I saw it. I don't know what the -hell- that was though," Keylin says in a disgusted voice. "It looked like a rat with its brains exposed."
[15:29] <Alveria> "I dunno. Looked like some kind of rodent. Yeah! Something like that. Puk'Lor, which way do you think we should go?"
[15:29] <Amonet> roll 1d20+3 sure
[15:29] <Alveria> roll 1d20+13 planes
[15:29] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+3 sure and gets 23." [1d20=20]
[15:29] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+13 planes and gets 14." [1d20=1]
[15:30] -> *Amonet* From Keylin's description, that sounds like a cranium rat - evil extraplanar vermin, that are little more than normal rats on their own, but when collected in large groups they can form a hivemind with genius level intellect and formidable spellcasting and mental powers. They're also resistant to cold.
[15:32] <Amonet> "It sounds like an evil rat!" Amonet declares. "It gets really bad when they come together en masse, because their evil powers multiply and allow them to cast their evil spells!" She ponders a bit, before adding, "Oh, and they like cold, so fire might be a good choice, as it so often is!"
[15:33] <Ebiris> "I have never been in a necropolis before," the monk admits. "But the chamber behind us is likely the main passageway - following it to one end or the other will probably take us to the receiving room."
[15:34] <Alveria> "Exponential rats. Right. When it comes to outsiders, it's always something stupid. Alright, then. Let's go."
[15:35] * Gourash nods heading to the huge pit (I think that's the chamber he's referring to)
[15:35] <Amonet> "Only the evil ones are stupid," Amonet complains, nonetheless following.
[15:35] <Alveria> "No, they're all stupid. They can't make informed decisions, it's not like it's their *fault*."
[15:35] <Ebiris> Puk'lor carefully walks over the edge into the pit... and then seems to affix his feet to the 'wall', seeming utterly unconcerned with his apparently precarious position above a bottomless looking drop. "Walk slowly when going over an edge so you have time to alter your subjective gravity - down is whatever you wish it to be," he warns.
[15:35] <Alveria> "-well, most of them, anyway."
[15:36] <Amonet> "But I can make informed decisions," she mutters in dejection.
[15:37] <Alveria> "Honestly," continues Alveria, not seeming to hear- "I can't decide if it'd be worse having some, I dunno, voice blaring in your head all day, telling you to shoot babies, or save them, or whatever. It'd take all the fun out of either..."
[15:37] * Gourash attempts to follow the Gith's lead.
[15:37] * Alveria seems rather confident as she steps over the edge. It's either that, or she's oblivious.
[15:38] <Ebiris> "But didn't that succubus make an informed decision not to be evil and to, ah... not, um... well, do bad stuff, any longer?" Marjorie reasons, stumbling a bit over her words.
[15:38] <Alveria> "Pfft, what makes you so sure she wasn't fooling us the whole time, just to get rid of a rival?"
[15:39] <Amonet> "I'm pretty confident in my research," Amonet says defensively.
[15:39] <Ebiris> It's a little bit disorienting to suddenly change your relative gravity, but the process is easy enough to accomplish. "I don't know. Trust?" Marjorie replies to Alveria, her tone matching Amonet's.
[15:40] <Alveria> "It's what I'd do. I mean, the cards are already against you because you're a demon, but if you could fool just a few people into thinking you're good... Trust? I don't trust people who haven't fought next to me, that's crazy talk."
[15:40] * Amonet clamps her lips shut, refusing to comment.
[15:40] * Gourash eyes the two. "Is this really the time to loudly argue such?"
[15:41] <Ebiris> "As if you're one to lecture anyone on being crazy!" Marjorie snaps back irritably.
[15:41] * Amonet pats Marjorie to calm her down.
[15:42] <Ebiris> "Besides, you trusted that crazy gnome enough to let him blow up half the city, didn't you?" she mutters, not sounding at all placated despite Amonet's patting.
[15:42] * Gourash grunts and shakes his head, continuing up the pit.
[15:42] <Alveria> "I'm pretty sure that half the city got burned down by the prisoners we released. Now that was something we all agreed on."
[15:43] <Ebiris> Puk'lor walks along in the lead with Gourash, following the path around all of the alcoves bearing the dead. As they walk... (more)
[15:44] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+4
[15:44] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+4 and gets 18." [1d20=14]
[15:45] <Ebiris> A skeletal hand lashes out from one of the nearby alcoves, clawing at Puk'lor's ankles! The monk leaps back in time, however, cursing as the occupant of said alcove pulls itself upright, revealing a battered looking humanoid skeleton that glares with eyeless sockets at its prey!
[15:45] <Ebiris> OOC: init
[15:45] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5
[15:45] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 and gets 15." [1d20=10]
[15:45] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+8 skeleton
[15:45] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+8 skeleton and gets 13." [1d20=5]
[15:45] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[15:45] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 3." [1d20=3]
[15:45] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 monk
[15:46] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 monk and gets 19." [1d20=12]
[15:46] <Alveria> roll 1d20+4 eagan
[15:46] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+4 eagan and gets 21." [1d20=17]
[15:46] <Keylin> roll 1d20+4
[15:46] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+4 and gets 14." [1d20=10]
[15:46] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[15:46] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 11." [1d20=10]
[15:47] <Alveria> Eagan advances on the skeleton and hits it with his heavy thing!
[15:47] <Alveria> roll 1d20+8 wait that's all?
[15:47] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+8 wait that's all? and gets 13." [1d20=5]
[15:48] <Ebiris> The undead collection of bones shifts itself to the side and dodges away from Eagan's clumsy strike, while Puk'lor lunges forward with a fist aimed at its head!
[15:48] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+15
[15:48] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+15 and gets 26." [1d20=11]
[15:48] <Ebiris> roll 1d10+2
[15:48] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d10+2 and gets 12." [1d10=10]
[15:50] <Ebiris> With a sickening crack, the things neck snaps and the skull is launched carreening across the chamber, shattering into a cloud of dust when it impacts the stonework! The rest of the skeleton falls in a heap at this, while Puk'lor looks down angrily. "What. Is. This?" he seethes. "Undead, in the resting place of the People? I can scarcely believe it."
[15:51] <Ebiris> "He's not counting me, right?" Marjorie whispers to Amonet.
[15:52] <Alveria> "You know, it occurs to me that traps might be useful from time to time, after all."
[15:52] <Amonet> "I think you're safe," Amonet whispers back.
[15:53] * Gourash eyes Puk'lor, surprised at his caring for the dead...used as ceiling tiles.
[15:54] <Ebiris> The normally placid monk looks up to regard the adventurers, his face showing a cold fury. "We will find those responsible for desecrating these graves. And then we will fill more graves."
[15:56] <Alveria> "Well, the only good necromancer is.. uh.. a *dead* necromancer. Yes. But aren't we in a bit of hurry, here? For all we know, he might not even be in the masouleum."
[15:56] * Gourash is taken aback by the sudden fury. "Now?"
[15:58] <Ebiris> The Zerth draws his Karach blade, which begins to glow with a golden sheen, much like the light Marjorie emits. "There has to be a cause for this - and it must be stopped, while those animated like that must be put to rest. As a Zerth I am sworn to guard the People, and such an insult against our dead cannot go unpunished."
[15:58] <Ebiris> OOC: will save, Alvie
[15:58] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6
[15:58] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 and gets 14." [1d20=8]
[15:59] <Amonet> Why the hate? -_-
[15:59] * Gourash frowned, knowing that they did actually need the man and that belligerizing him would probably not be worth the trouble later.  Gourash considered...the loot from the soon-to-be-dead guys could be worthy pay.
[16:00] <Gourash> "Then let be quick about it... if it need to do and we in a hurry," Gourash answered both Alvie and Puk'lor.
[16:00] -> *Alveria* Its only thanks to her recent practice in dealing with these shifts that Alveria is able to resist the sudden spike of pain that she feels... But past the pain, its like a well of power was roused, just now, though sadly it remains just beyond reach.
[16:00] <Alveria> "mrgrglhrlgh!"
[16:01] <Ebiris> "I apologise, Alveria," Puk'lor ducks his head briefly to the elf, "But I cannot afford to hold back in these circumstances. There may be worse than just mere skeletons, here."
[16:01] <Alveria> "Tell that to my head!"
[16:02] <Amonet> "There are the evil rodents!" Amonet pipes up.
[16:02] <Gourash> "more reason to end it quickly... " He turned and stared at Amonet. "You think mice are the cause?"
[16:03] <Amonet> "Well, together, they become this genius hive intelligence..." she mutters, looking away.
[16:05] <Alveria> "Well, which way? This place is so confusing..."
[16:05] * Gourash turns back to the zerth, a second behind in asking Alveria's question.
[16:06] * Amonet looks around... for EVIL!
[16:06] <Ebiris> As the party discusses, several ghostly figures emerge from the floor and walls, surrounding them. Four are jet black shadows in a vaguely humanoid form, while two look more like ragged transluscent black cloaks given life. The last two look like Gith, though pale white and transparent, their eyes glowing a hateful green while sigils and runes float around their heads.
[16:06] <Ebiris> "Seek you death, Godservants?" one of the green-eyed figures asks in a rasping voice. "Then seek no further."
[16:06] -> *Amonet* can sense evil in the ghostly figures surrounding them!
[16:07] <Amonet> "Evil things! They really do come to you when you are locked in indecision!"
[16:08] <Alveria> "When you say it like that, it makes me appreciate how straightforward this situation is."
[16:08] <Ebiris> OOC: let's do init, now
[16:08] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5
[16:08] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 and gets 22." [1d20=17]
[16:09] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 Monk
[16:09] * Gourash leaped at the creature in lieu of discussion
[16:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 Monk and gets 11." [1d20=4]
[16:09] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[16:09] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 18." [1d20=17]
[16:09] <Ebiris> roll 4#1d20+7
[16:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 4#1d20+7 and gets 79." [4#1d20+7 = 26, 17, 19, 17]
[16:09] <Ebiris> roll 4#1d20+2
[16:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 4#1d20+2 and gets 36." [4#1d20+2 = 5, 11, 5, 15]
[16:09] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[16:09] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 7." [1d20=7]
[16:10] <Alveria> roll 1d20+11
[16:10] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+11 and gets 28." [1d20=17]
[16:10] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8 religion
[16:10] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 religion and gets 19." [1d20=11]
[16:10] <Alveria> roll 1d20+4 eagan init, yeah
[16:10] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+4 eagan init, yeah and gets 15." [1d20=11]
[16:11] <Keylin> roll 1d20+4
[16:11] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+4 and gets 5." [1d20=1]
[16:12] -> *Alveria* Eagan recognises 4 shadows, 2 wraiths (as SRD) and 2 Quells (the white things). Quells aren't dangerous themselves, but they can block off a cleric's connection with the divine, leaving them easy prey for others.
[16:15] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie, Quell 1 is holding.
[16:16] <Alveria> OOC: I'd like an update on our surroundings, I'm sorry but I'm really confused.
[16:16] <Ebiris> OOC: 'kay. I'll do a quick MSpaint map (really need to get back to doing grids)
[16:17] <Alveria> OOC: Thanks
[16:17] <Alveria> OOC: Eh
[16:17] <Alveria> OOC: It'll be hard to do so in limbo when it's all 3d
[16:17] <Gourash> OOC: Naw, down is the walls. =P  So down is the grid
[16:18] <Alveria> OOC: Heh
[16:24] <Alveria> "Let's huddle up here. These things won't hurt you physically, but they'll hit you right in the soul." So saying, Alveria draws a nasty-looking rod from her belt, and flings a fireball towards the ugly, ugly white creatures! And the wraith, too.
[16:24] <Alveria> roll 1d6+6 CL
[16:24] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d6+6 CL and gets 8." [1d6=2]
[16:24] <Alveria> roll 8d6+8 fiery spell, ref dc 20 half
[16:24] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 8d6+8 fiery spell, ref dc 20 half and gets 33." [8d6=1, 1, 3, 2, 6, 3, 6, 3]
[16:25] <Ebiris> OOC: roll 1d100 3 times
[16:25] <Alveria> roll 1d100
[16:25] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d100  and gets 4." [1d100=4]
[16:25] <Alveria> roll 1d100
[16:25] <Alveria> roll 1d100
[16:25] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d100  and gets 69." [1d100=69]
[16:25] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d100  and gets 51." [1d100=51]
[16:25] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+4 quell 2
[16:25] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+4 quell 2 and gets 17." [1d20=13]
[16:25] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+4 wraith 1
[16:25] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+4 wraith 1 and gets 8." [1d20=4]
[16:27] <Ebiris> Alveria's fireball blasts out in a searing conflagration, consuming both the first wraith and one of the quells! The remaining one hisses in fury, as the glyphs surrounding its head spin with violent intensity and flare to life!
[16:27] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+2
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+2 and gets 6." [1d20=4]
[16:28] <Ebiris> Amonet and Eagan both feel minorly unsettled by this display, but it doesn't appear to have had any effect on them.
[16:28] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash
[16:30] <Gourash> OOC: *nods*
[16:31] * Gourash moves towards the remaining quell on his side, leaping over obstacles to bring out the mace smashing down towards it.
[16:31] <Gourash> roll 1d20+17-4 PA
[16:31] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+17-4 PA and gets 28." [1d20=15]
[16:31] <Gourash> roll 1d100 to hit
[16:31] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d100 to hit and gets 99." [1d100=99]
[16:31] <Ebiris> OOC: hits
[16:33] <Gourash> roll 1d6+13+8 damage
[16:33] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d6+13+8 damage and gets 22." [1d6=1]
[16:33] <Gourash> OOC: MINIMUM DAMAGE!
[16:33] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+1
[16:33] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+1 and gets 7." [1d20=6]
[16:33] <Gourash> OOC: and DC 14 will save versus disruption
[16:33] <Ebiris> OOC: +6, then, but still fails
[16:34] <Ebiris> Gourash doesn't feel like he hit that as well as he could've, but the effect is immediate - incorporeal flesh is consumed in an instant by the power of the holy artifact, causing the Quell to fade into nothingness before Gourash even finishes his swing through its intangible form!
[16:35] <Ebiris> The last remaining wraith hisses with malevolence and glides over to Eagan, reaching out with one half-formed limb from its unclear mass to touch him!
[16:35] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+5
[16:35] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+5 and gets 12." [1d20=7]
[16:36] <Ebiris> OOC: Eagan's touch AC?
[16:36] <Alveria> OOC: Is pretty lol, yeah.
[16:36] <Alveria> OOC: 10
[16:36] <Ebiris> OOC: fort save
[16:36] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6
[16:36] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 and gets 14." [1d20=8]
[16:37] <Ebiris> roll 1d4
[16:37] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d4 and gets 2." [1d4=2]
[16:38] <Ebiris> The touch chills Eagan, but he's able to shrug it off, acting just as the first shadow moves to attack Gourash!
[16:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+3
[16:38] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+3 and gets 17." [1d20=14]
[16:38] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[16:38] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 6." [1d6=6]
[16:39] <Ebiris> As soon as it touches him, Gourash feels negative energy leeching away his life and titanic strength, completely removing the benefit he gains from his giant belt!
[16:39] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[16:39] <Alveria> Eagan pronounces some gibberish and commands the undead to begone!
[16:39] <Alveria> OOC: It is the big turn
[16:39] <Alveria> roll 1d20+1 charisma don't fail me now
[16:39] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+1 charisma don't fail me now and gets 18." [1d20=17]
[16:40] <Alveria> OOC: w00t!
[16:40] <Ebiris> OOC: that affects all of them. Do damage.
[16:40] <Alveria> roll 2d6+6
[16:40] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 2d6+6 and gets 13." [2d6=2, 5]
[16:42] <Ebiris> At the display of Torm's divine power, the last wraith and the two shadows nearest to Eagan at the rear of the party are petrified with fear of the divine!
[16:44] <Ebiris> The shadow at the far end of the group is undeterred, however, moving to attack Keylin even as Puk'lor rushes to Gourash's aid!
[16:44] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+3
[16:44] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+3 and gets 16." [1d20=13]
[16:44] <Ebiris> OOC: touch AC, Keylin?
[16:45] <Ebiris> OOC: 14 according to your sheet
[16:45] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[16:45] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 5." [1d6=5]
[16:46] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+18
[16:46] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+18 and gets 34." [1d20=16]
[16:46] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[16:46] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 51." [1d100=51]
[16:46] <Ebiris> roll 1d6+5+2d6
[16:46] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6+5+2d6 and gets 17." [1d6=2][2d6=4, 6]
[16:47] <Ebiris> As Keylin feels her strength sapped away by the shadow's chilling touch, Puk'lor cuts right through the one attacking Gourash, which unsteadily reforms itself, clinging onto the last vestiges of unlife!
[16:47] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[16:49] * Amonet charges the shadow attacking Gourash, intent on helping Puk'lor rid them of the menace!
[16:49] <Amonet> roll 1d20+14
[16:49] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+14 and gets 22." [1d20=8]
[16:49] <Ebiris> OOC: can't actually charge, remember. But that hits even without
[16:49] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8+2d6
[16:49] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8+2d6 and gets 23." [1d8=6][2d6=5, 4]
[16:50] <Ebiris> Running her target through, Amonet explodes the shadow in a nova of holy light, causing it to emit a terrible wail as it's discorporated into nothingness!
[16:50] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[16:51] <Amonet> "In Horus-Re's name, return to nothingness!" Amonet calls after it.
[16:54] * Keylin pulls out her weapon, in this case the maul that hasn't particularly seen action in ages, and attempts to strike the creature that sapped most of her strength.
[16:55] <Keylin> roll 1d20+7
[16:55] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+7  and gets 8." [1d20=1]
[16:55] <Ebiris> OOC: critfail check
[16:55] <Keylin> ooc: yay... =/
[16:56] <Keylin> roll 1d20+7
[16:56] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+7  and gets 25." [1d20=18]
[16:56] <Ebiris> Sapped of her strength, Keylin overbalances her swing with the surprisingly heavy weapon, missing her target while the two shadows nearest to Eagain sink back into the ground, vanishing from sight!
[16:56] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[16:58] <Alveria> OOC: sooooooo there's one active shadow left?
[16:58] <Alveria> OOC: which number is it?
[16:58] <Ebiris> OOC: the one that acts at the same time as Eagan, and attacked Keylin earlier
[16:58] <Alveria> OOC: I'll hold, go kill it, Gourash
[16:59] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash
[16:59] <Gourash> OOC: >_>
[17:00] * Gourash twists on his feet, heading over and slamming the wraith through its shady rune covered head.
[17:00] <Gourash> OOC: *Goes for the wraith*
[17:00] <Ebiris> OOC: Go for it (it isn't runed, though)
[17:02] <Gourash> roll 1d20+14
[17:02] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+14 and gets 15." [1d20=1]
[17:03] <Gourash> roll 1d100
[17:03] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d100 and gets 24." [1d100=24]
[17:03] <Gourash> OOC: *eyes the ;_;*
[17:03] <Ebiris> OOC: critfail check first
[17:04] <Ebiris> OOC: so do another attack roll
[17:05] <Ebiris> OOC: I'll do it for you
[17:05] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+14
[17:05] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+14 and gets 17." [1d20=3]
[17:05] <Gourash> roll 1d20+14 critfail check
[17:05] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+14 critfail check and gets 27." [1d20=13]
[17:06] <Ebiris> Gourash swings, but between the unfamiliar weapon and his lacking musclepower, he finds he just can't quite get it right, only whiffing by the side of the Wraith, which promptly sinks into the floor and vanishes, fleeing Torm's divine wrath!
[17:06] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[17:06] <Alveria> Eagan hits it with his metal object of hurt!
[17:06] <Alveria> roll 1d20+8
[17:06] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+8 and gets 14." [1d20=6]
[17:07] <Ebiris> OOC: hits what?
[17:07] <Alveria> OOC: The same thing Gourash tried to hit.
[17:07] <Alveria> OOC: The wraith, yeah.
[17:07] <Ebiris> OOC: it vanished!
[17:07] <Alveria> OOC: Oh, did it? Damn.
[17:07] <Alveria> OOC: I feel stupid, now. Alright then
[17:07] <Ebiris> OOC: only the shadow is left.
[17:08] <Alveria> Eagan goes after the last remaining shadow!
[17:08] <Ebiris> OOC: we'll use the same hit roll. So roll 1d100.
[17:08] <Alveria> roll 1d100
[17:08] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d100 and gets 27." [1d100=27]
[17:08] <Alveria> OOC: The rage is strong today.
[17:09] <Ebiris> Despite a solidly on target blow, Eagan finds his attack simply sails right through the shadow without affecting it in the least! The creature hisses and turns its attention on the cleric, even as Puk'lor rushes over to engage it!
[17:09] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+3
[17:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+3 and gets 8." [1d20=5]
[17:09] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+18
[17:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+18 and gets 30." [1d20=12]
[17:09] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[17:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 90." [1d100=90]
[17:09] <Ebiris> roll 1d6+5+2d6
[17:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6+5+2d6 and gets 14." [1d6=2][2d6=2, 5]
[17:10] <Ebiris> Even Eagan is able to dodge that poorly aimed strike, while Puk'lor cuts a vicious path through the creature, which only slowly reforms after the wound!
[17:10] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[17:10] * Amonet seems to be going around aiding their monk today!
[17:10] <Amonet> roll 1d20+12
[17:10] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+12 and gets 22." [1d20=10]
[17:10] <Ebiris> OOC: hits
[17:11] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8+2d6
[17:11] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8+2d6 and gets 25." [1d8=8][2d6=5, 4]
[17:11] <Ebiris> Much as the last one, this shadow explodes in a bright flash with a tormented wail as Amonet impales it! With the last of the undead gone, silence returns to the crypt, only the heavy breathing of the party to break it as they come down from their exertions, some still feeling the cold touch of the grave upon them...
[17:12] * Amonet says a prayer to Horus-Re for aiding them in ridding them of evil once more!
[17:13] * Gourash shivers. "There must be more....guiding them,"
[17:13] * Alveria takes this opportunity to cast an extend Shield upon herself.
[17:13] <Alveria> roll 1d6+5
[17:14] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d6+5 and gets 8." [1d6=3]
[17:14] <Alveria> OOC: It will last for 16 minutes! Fun times.
[17:16] <Alveria> "It might be those brain-rodent-things. Blast 'em if you see 'em, I guess."
[17:16] <Gourash> Gourash rubbed his arms. "I still feel weak from their cold touch," he admitted. "Damn undead."
[17:16] <Ebiris> "I have never seen such tormented spirits in one of our own crypts before..." Puk'lor looks briefly ashamed. "We must find the cause and remove it."
[17:17] <Ebiris> Walking over towards Alveria, he holds up his blade and looks into her eyes. "Focus, Alveria, focus on the power of the Karach that infuses you, and your spells will affect even a spectre without fail." As he speaks, his blade seems to become hazy and indistinct, losing its sheen and becoming almost insubstantial.
[17:17] <Ebiris> OOC: will save, Alvie
[17:17] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6
[17:17] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 and gets 25." [1d20=19]
[17:17] <Amonet> "Well, I have a scroll..." Amonet comments, before handing it to Eagan to cast.
[17:17] <Amonet> roll 1d4 lesser restoration on G
[17:17] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d4 lesser restoration on G and gets 1." [1d4=1]
[17:17] <Alveria> Eagan totally casts it, yes!
[17:18] -> *Alveria* Within herself, Alveria feels that familiar power bubbling forth... it feels like smoke as she tries to grasp it, but she can feel it there nonetheless, ready for her to use.
[17:18] <Amonet> roll 1d4 lesser restoration on G, second scroll!
[17:18] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d4 lesser restoration on G, second scroll! and gets 4." [1d4=4]
[17:18] <Alveria> "Aha, don't get me used to this, or I won't want to give it up," replies Alveria, rubbing her head.
[17:19] <Keylin> "You felt weak? You were still tearing them apart. Me? Ugh, my stuff feels heavy, and I barely have the strenght to swing my maul around."
[17:19] <Amonet> "I am sorry, friend. I have only the two scrolls," Amonet says dejectedly. "Tomorrow, I could cast the spell myself, however!"
[17:19] <Gourash> "If we leave, they'll have more  undead ready for us," Gourash noted.
[17:19] <Alveria> And then, Eagan casts CURE MODERATE WOUNDS! On himself.
[17:20] <Alveria> roll 2d8+9
[17:20] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 2d8+9 and gets 17." [2d8=7, 1]
[17:20] <Keylin> "I'll just have to stay out of the way of battle then," Keylin comments.
[17:20] <Ebiris> "We should take any advantage we can find," Puk'lor states firmly. "Now, let us continue..." he pauses at Keylin and Amonet's words, however. "Perhaps... we should find a place to regroup, in that case? I know that battling the gnome was trying for some of you, as well."
[17:20] * Amonet considers, and offers Keylin the fiery bow. "This would help!"
[17:20] <Alveria> "I've only got a few spells left. Could probably flatten any one thing with 'em, but if there's heaps more shadows..."
[17:20] <Alveria> "So, yeah, I could use the time."
[17:21] <Keylin> "Thanks, although I don't know that I'll even be able to pull the bowstring right now, not without trouble anyhow," Keylin comments. "Should still help once I'm back to full...I hope."
[17:21] <Ebiris> "Then we should continue onwards to find the exit, and come back once we are restored," the monk nods. "Another day won't make too much difference, I hope."
[17:22] <Alveria> "Whatever they are, they probably can't raise any more than we just fought up overnight," affirms Alveria. "And we'll have more than we started with tomorrow, too. Win-win!"
[17:22] <Amonet> "Is the city we were headed close enough?" Amonet asks. "We could restock on more of these scrolls there."
[17:22] <Keylin> "It'd be good to rest up in a town," Keylin agrees.
[17:23] <Ebiris> "The Necropolis is almost certainly on the edges of the city... though I can hardly believe it would be allowed to be put into this state," Puk'lor shakes his head, sighing, before he continues down the great cylindrical passage.
[17:24] <Alveria> "Remember when we rested in that ruin of a university, Amonet? There were undead things there, too," remarks Alveria, trundling after Puk'Lor."
[17:25] <Amonet> "Yes," Amonet responds, sounding uncertain. "Where are you going with this, Alveria?"
[17:26] <Alveria> "Huh? Oh, nowhere, really. Seems like so long ago, now. They were right when they said there were things a mage couldn't learn in school."
[17:26] <Ebiris> OOC: listen checks
[17:26] <Alveria> roll 1d20+3
[17:26] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+3 and gets 15." [1d20=12]
[17:26] <Alveria> roll 1d20+7 Eagan
[17:26] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+7 Eagan and gets 18." [1d20=11]
[17:27] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5
[17:27] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 and gets 16." [1d20=11]
[17:27] * Amonet nods in agreement.
[17:27] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+5 monk
[17:27] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+5 monk and gets 14." [1d20=9]
[17:27] <Amonet> "And not just a mage."
[17:27] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[17:27] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 12." [1d20=11]
[17:28] -> *Amonet* As you walk along, you can hear something directly above, like a scraping of claws on metal...
[17:28] -> *Alveria* As Eagan walks along, he can hear something directly above, like a scraping of claws on metal...
[17:29] <Alveria> "There's something up there," grunts Eagan, looking up.
[17:29] <Keylin> roll 1d20+13 Navi: hey, listen!
[17:29] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+13 Navi: hey, listen! and gets 24." [1d20=11]
[17:29] * Amonet immediately turns to look upwards, alerting the others, as Marjorie is pointed at the ceiling, illuminating the area.
[17:29] -> *Keylin* As you walk along, you can hear something directly above, like a scraping of claws on metal...
[17:30] <Keylin> "There is, yeah. It sounds like...claws? Or long fingernails, I guess. They're rasping against something," Keylin comments.
[17:30] <Ebiris> Looking up, you can see a passageway much like the one you arrived in. Except this one is filled with several shambling humanoid figures, two of which are suddenly falling straight towards the party!
[17:30] <Ebiris> OOC: init, surprise round - Eagan, Keylin, and Amonet can act
[17:31] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1 cursed surprise rounds~
[17:31] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 cursed surprise rounds~ and gets 13." [1d20=12]
[17:31] <Alveria> roll 1d20+4 surprise round!
[17:31] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+4 surprise round! and gets 10." [1d20=6]
[17:31] * Amonet bats away at one of the falling figures!
[17:31] <Amonet> roll 1d20 init
[17:31] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 init and gets 13." [1d20=13]
[17:32] <Ebiris> roll 2#1d20+2 falling ghasts
[17:32] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 2#1d20+2 falling ghasts and gets 16." [2#1d20+2 = 5, 11]
[17:32] <Ebiris> roll 4#1d20+2 sane ghasts
[17:32] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 4#1d20+2 sane ghasts and gets 48." [4#1d20+2 = 22, 4, 16, 6]
[17:32] <Keylin> roll 1d20+4
[17:32] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+4 and gets 19." [1d20=15]
[17:33] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 monk
[17:33] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 monk and gets 16." [1d20=9]
[17:33] <Amonet> OOC: Strike that, I guess
[17:34] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 alveriainit
[17:34] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 alveriainit and gets 8." [1d20=3]
[17:36] <Ebiris> One of the ghasts comes shambling out of the passageway and moves around the curvature of the cylinder to reach the party, not quite suicidal enough to fall a great height in search of a meal.
[17:36] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[17:39] * Keylin attempts to use the bow Amonet passed to her, and finds it's not as difficult to use as she expected, there's only a minor difficulty in holding the bow ready and aiming. Pulling the bowstring, she prepares to fire at the closest of the creatures.
[17:39] <Keylin> roll 1d20+8
[17:39] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+8 and gets 12." [1d20=4]
[17:40] <Ebiris> Keylin finds her shot go errant, landing in one of the alcoves and missing any animated dead. She showed that skeleton who's boss, though. Meanwhile another of the ghasts emerges, moving opposite from the first - it seems they're hoping to flank the party.
[17:40] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[17:41] * Amonet withdraws a scroll, praying to Horus-Re as she reads it, her words consecrating the adjacent area with sacred radiance!
[17:42] <Ebiris> Praising the glory of Horus Re, divine power fills the area surrounding Amonet, pushing away the pervading aura of death within the crypt!
[17:42] <Ebiris> Meanwhile, the first of the falling monsters drops like a stone towards the party...
[17:42] <Ebiris> roll 1d5 Alveria, Amonet, Eagan, Gourash, Keylin, Puk'lor
[17:42] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d5 Alveria, Amonet, Eagan, Gourash, Keylin, Puk'lor and gets 4." [1d5=4]
[17:42] <Ebiris> OOC: reflex save, Keylin
[17:43] <Keylin> roll 1d20+10
[17:43] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+10 and gets 30." [1d20=20]
[17:43] <Keylin> ooc: yay.
[17:44] <Ebiris> roll 4d6
[17:44] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 4d6 and gets 16." [4d6=6, 3, 1, 6]
[17:45] <Ebiris> Keylin adroitly steps out of the way, however, and the creature lands with a sickening crunch at her feet, groaning piteously as it pulls itself upright, and... dear god, the stench!
[17:45] <Ebiris> OOC: fort saves, all
[17:45] <Keylin> roll 1d20+7
[17:45] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+7 and gets 21." [1d20=14]
[17:45] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6 monk
[17:45] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 monk and gets 19." [1d20=13]
[17:45] <Amonet> roll 1d20+15
[17:45] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+15 and gets 20." [1d20=5]
[17:45] <Gourash> roll 1d20+10
[17:45] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+10 and gets 19." [1d20=9]
[17:46] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 not enough
[17:46] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 not enough and gets 22." [1d20=17]
[17:46] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6 eagan. is it enough?!
[17:46] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 eagan. is it enough?! and gets 22." [1d20=16]
[17:46] <Ebiris> Despite the horid smell, everyone is able to keep their wits about them!
[17:46] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[17:46] <Alveria> Eagan, once again, commands the undead beasts to begone!
[17:47] <Alveria> roll 1d20+8 turn check
[17:47] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+8 turn check and gets 16." [1d20=8]
[17:47] <Ebiris> OOC: that affects ghasts. Damage?
[17:47] <Alveria> roll 2d6+6
[17:47] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 2d6+6 and gets 14." [2d6=6, 2]
[17:48] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[17:48] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 3." [1d6=3]
[17:49] <Ebiris> The two ghasts first out of the passage freeze in terror of Torm's power, and the one standing next to Keylin doesn't appear to cheerful, either. But that doesn't stop another lumbering out of the passage, nor does it stop the one that's currently falling straight towards Eagan!
[17:49] <Ebiris> OOC: reflex save, Eagan
[17:49] <Alveria> roll 1d20+4 how'd he get this...
[17:49] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+4 how'd he get this... and gets 14." [1d20=10]
[17:49] <Ebiris> roll 4d6
[17:49] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 4d6 and gets 11." [4d6=2, 4, 3, 2]
[17:50] <Ebiris> With a wet splat, the Ghast crushes Eagan to the ground, both of them suffering the full force of that nasty impact! Slobbering something that Alveria can translate as "Meat!" in Gith, it slobbers all over him, while the stench pervading the area only gets worse...
[17:50] <Ebiris> OOC: fort saves
[17:50] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6 monk
[17:50] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 monk and gets 18." [1d20=12]
[17:51] <Amonet> roll 1d20+15
[17:51] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+15 and gets 21." [1d20=6]
* Retrieving #dunes modes...
[17:51] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 we have to save for each of htem? way ow
[17:51] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 we have to save for each of htem? way ow and gets 15." [1d20=10]
[17:51] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6 eagan
[17:51] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 eagan and gets 15." [1d20=9]
[17:52] <Ebiris> Despite the horrific odour, the group is still able to keep their stomach's down, as the last ghast emerges from the passageway... and is passed by the first one rushing right past it as it retreats!
[17:52] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[17:52] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+10 Gourash since he seems absent
[17:52] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+10 Gourash since he seems absent and gets 25." [1d20=15]
[17:56] * Keylin again aims, hoping to aim better this time, but this time aiming at the closest of the creatures.
[17:56] <Keylin> roll 1d20+8
[17:56] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+8 and gets 10." [1d20=2]
[17:56] <Ebiris> OOC: as in, shooting the one that fell on you?
[17:56] <Ebiris> OOC: since that'll provoke an AoO
[17:57] <Ebiris> OOC: except... nah, it's fleeing, so won't threaten
[17:57] <Alveria> OOC: Shoot one of the ones that isn't fleeing!
[17:57] <Alveria> OOC: Full attack, even >.>
[17:57] <Keylin> ooc: oh fine.
[17:57] <Ebiris> OOC: That roll misses, anyway, but yes, full attack by all means
[17:57] <Keylin> roll 1d20+3
[17:57] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+3 and gets 21." [1d20=18]
[17:58] <Ebiris> OOC: hits. Any preference on which one you hurt?
[17:58] <Keylin> ooc: not really.
[17:58] <Keylin> roll 1d8+1+1d6
[17:58] <Ebiris> OOC: damage, then?
[17:58] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d8+1+1d6 and gets 11." [1d8=6][1d6=4]
[17:59] <Ebiris> While her first shot is sadly errant, Keylin proceeds to blow a few flaming chunks off one of the approaching ghasts with her next, causing it to cry out in pain, yet still seem undeterred in its pursuit of a fresh meal!
[18:00] <Ebiris> Meanwhile, the second ghast that emerged from the passageway retreats, while Puk'lor leaps over to kick the one that fell on Eagan!
[18:00] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+15
[18:00] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+15 and gets 31." [1d20=16]
[18:00] <Ebiris> roll 1d10+2d6+2
[18:00] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d10+2d6+2 and gets 17." [1d10=7][2d6=5, 3]
[18:01] <Ebiris> It shudders from the impact, almost falling but tenaciously hanging onto its unlife!
[18:01] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet and Gourash
[18:01] <Amonet> "Horus-Re, the light to all!" Amonet calls out, brandishing her holy symbol high from its proud place on its necklace. "Show your might to these evil creatures, fallen from your grace so!"
[18:01] <Amonet> roll 1d20+11 sun~
[18:01] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+11 sun~ and gets 25." [1d20=14]
[18:02] <Amonet> roll 2d6+10 burn in cleansing fire!
[18:02] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 2d6+10 burn in cleansing fire! and gets 17." [2d6=5, 2]
[18:03] <Ebiris> OOC: kills 4. Any preferences?
[18:03] <Amonet> OOC: The ones not running and who didn't fall from the ceiling
[18:04] <Amonet> OOC: If I can't have that, the ones not running and the least healthy of the losers that fell
[18:05] <Ebiris> The dark crypt is momentarily illuminated by the divine power of Horus Re, eliciting startled screams from four of the ghasts as they recoil and throw up their elongated arms, but are nonetheless reduced to ash in an instant!
[18:05] <Ebiris> OOC: Gourash?
[18:05] <Amonet> "Burn, fell things of evil!"
[18:05] <Gourash> OOC: Yarr
[18:05] <Alveria> "One of these days, you're going to put me out of a job," complains Alveria.
[18:07] * Gourash heads down to the fallen ghast that Puk'lor struck, smashing downwards with his mace.
[18:07] <Gourash> roll 1d20+14
[18:07] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+14 and gets 23." [1d20=9]
[18:07] <Ebiris> OOC: hits
[18:09] <Gourash> roll 1d6+9
[18:09] <Ebiris> OOC: damage?
[18:09] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d6+9 and gets 12." [1d6=3]
[18:09] <Gourash> OOC: Sorry was trying to mental out how much got lost from str drain
[18:09] <Ebiris> Gourash caves the ghast's face in with his mace, making it fall over in a crumpled and unmoving heap, the abuse suffered too much for it to bear.
[18:10] <Ebiris> The Ghast that earlier fell near Keylin takes this chance to flee the battle, suddenly falling straight up and back the way it came!
[18:10] <Ebiris> There's a rather nasty sounding splat a few seconds later.
Title: Adventure 8: There is no chin under Puk'lor's beard. Only...

[15:23] <Ebiris> As the ghast sails up into the darkness and vanishes with an echoing splatter noise, the party is once more left alone in the huge circular pit/passageway filled with corpses, the undead infesting this crypt not pressing the attack... for now.
[15:24] <Ebiris> As the ghast sails up into the darkness and vanishes with an echoing splatter noise, the party is once more left alone in the huge circular pit/passageway filled with corpses, the undead infesting this crypt not pressing the attack... for now.
[15:24] <Amonet> "We could rest here, in this sanctified place," Amonet proposes. "Or are we to leave for the city?"
[15:25] <Gourash> "..I slept in worse places...  but this does not seem safe."
[15:26] <Alveria> "Sleeping in a tomb has all kinds of bad connotations," agrees Alveria.
[15:26] <Ebiris> "We should press on," Puk'lor agrees. "This place is far too dangerous for us to lower our guard by sleeping."
[15:27] <Alveria> "Let's carry on, then. Which way were we going?"
[15:27] <Gourash> "Lets go then," Gourash heads back up the vertical tunnel.
[15:30] <Ebiris> Up, down, side to side, who knows in this place? Regardless, the party continues down the cavernous tunnel, finally approaching sight of the bottom - it seems as if the architect decided that the end you're approaching is 'down', from how a set of stairs connects from the circular passage to a flat landing, various murals decorating the walls which are lit by dim torches of green fire.
[15:30] <Ebiris> A passage from this landing leads 'up' relative to your current orientation.
[15:32] <Alveria> "Green fire? Why is it green? This place is totally unnatural!"
[15:33] <Gourash> "It is chaos?" Gourash suggested.  "Should you feel comfy here?" He joked.
[15:33] <Amonet> "Then you must clearly teach this place the value of red fire," Amonet muses.
[15:33] * Keylin raises an eyebrow. "What
[15:33] <Keylin> 's so bad about the color?"
[15:34] * Gourash turns, continuing 'up' as they chat about the weird flames.
[15:34] * Amonet decides to follow Gourash for the time being, as Alveria does not appear to be in any immediate danger.
[15:35] <Alveria> "Green is the colour of Envy, that's why. Fire is clearly better aligned with Wrath. Then again, I guess the dead might envy the living..."
[15:35] <Ebiris> "Green is a colour of mourning, for my people," Puk'lor informs the group evenly, taking a moment to realign his gravity on the stairs before he heads down them to the 'floor' ahead. "This is the receiving room, so the exit should be just ahead," he points to the passageway leading opposite from the stairs.
[15:35] <Alveria> "..uh, sorry," mumbles Alveria, deflating.
[15:36] * Alveria trails after the better-armoured members of the party, seeming even more twitchy than usual.
[15:37] <Keylin> "Huh...I've always seen green as more of acelebration of life, plants are green, for example. But what do I know of magic and it's crazy symbolism?" Keylin comments with a shrug.
[15:38] <Ebiris> As you pass, the green torchlight is almost completely washed out by the golden glow emitted by Amonet's lance, before you head along the new path. This one is flat stone on all sides, no alcoves bearing the dead here. A matching golden light is visible in the distance, up ahead.
[15:38] <Alveria> "Hmm. I'm pretty sure it's the green ray in prismatic spells that'll kill you stone dead," remarks Alveria.
[15:39] <Amonet> "The golden light, it is the exit?"
[15:39] * Keylin shakes her head. "Crazy magic."
[15:39] <Ebiris> "It is not a colour usually found in our crypts," Puk'lor replies, frowning slightly as the group continues ever closer...
[15:40] <Alveria> "I'm sure magic will calm down once Mystra gets her act together.. huh. Could they be warriors from the city, come to deal with the problem?" guesses Alveria.. rather half-heartedly.
[15:41] * Gourash readies  himself, not expecting friendly welcome in any sense here.
[15:41] <Ebiris> The end of the hallway is soon seen, opening out into a larger room. A great stone doorway lies at the end of this chamber, at the top of a shallow spreading staircase. Glyphs glowing with golden radiance are traced over the imposing giant sized doors, in a different script than the other writings seen within the necropolis, their light strong enough to illuminate half of the hallway.
[15:42] * Gourash hangs back, waiting for the mages to take a look. "These not normal either, huh?"
[15:43] <Alveria> roll 1d20+19 spellcraft what
[15:43] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+19 spellcraft what and gets 26." [1d20=7]
[15:45] -> *Alveria* The symbols seem to be an application of divine magic, something about sealing away great evil. You can't really work out the precise details, but it does seem to be holding the door shut, and reinforcing all of the exterior walls of the necropolis against something.
[15:45] <Alveria> "Oh, great! We're stuck in here!"
[15:45] <Gourash> "A seal?"
[15:46] <Alveria> "Yeah! Something about some great, horrible evil," grouses Alveria.
[15:46] <Amonet> "Being sealed, or being used in the seal?"
[15:46] * Amonet checks, just to make sure!
[15:46] <Alveria> "Being sealed. All the walls are reinforced, there's no way out. Just our luck... I'm amazed the portal even got us in here."
[15:47] <Ebiris> "Great enough that they would seal it in with our dead rather than remove it?" Puk'lor looks rather disturbed. "This is most worrisome."
[15:47] <Ebiris> OOC: knowledge religion if you want to look at the glyphs, since that applies as well
[15:47] <Amonet> "So opening the doors would free this evil?" Amonet asks. "Can you tell who made the seal?"
[15:47] <Alveria> "Er, no, the doors are what's sealed," replies Alveria.
[15:48] <Alveria> "The evil is sealed *in here*. I think. You know, with us."
[15:48] <Alveria> "I'm not sure, it's really hard to figure it out."
[15:48] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[15:48] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 12." [1d20=4]
[15:48] -> *Amonet* Amonet doesn't recognise any of the symbols used in the warding of the doorway.
[15:48] <Gourash> "Would it shut off if we killed it?"
[15:49] <Alveria> "Beats me. But if we killed it, I'd feel a lot less guilty about dispelling it, eh?"
[15:49] * Amonet nods. "Then would you like to seek it out, now, or return to the area blessed by Horus-Re?"
[15:50] <Alveria> "We may as well find it before it finds us."
[15:51] <Ebiris> "Here we only have to guard a single avenue from attack... at least against corporeal undead," Puk'lor points out. "But disembodied spirits could flank us anywhere."
[15:52] <Gourash> "Could here be blessed?  It probably not go near the seal."
[15:52] <Amonet> "It would use up my last scroll, but yes...."
[15:53] <Alveria> "I think we should continue searching," admits Alveria. "Whatever is here must know of our presence by now, and we're no safer here than anywhere else."
[15:53] <Ebiris> "I don't really feel any different, here," Marjorie points out. "So I don't think just being near the door will have any effect on... well, dead people."
[15:54] <Amonet> "Then let us search," Amonet agrees.
[15:54] <Amonet> "Puk'lor, do you know the layout?"
[15:56] <Ebiris> "Only in theory," the monk returns. "I have never visited this particular necropolis. As I said before, the circular passageway is the main core of the crypt - from there, numerous passages will branch off into other chambers, often connecting to each other, much like a web."
[15:56] <Amonet> "Where would the most prominent of your people be laid to rest? Which place would be the most defensible?"
[15:59] <Ebiris> "The secondary chambers often incorporate private mausoleums, for those of wealth or held in high esteem by their peers," Puk'lor replies thoughtfully. "The hallways and main passage are for the vast majority. Older corpses are nearer the entrance - as the dead accumulate, we simply expand the necropolis onwards. The most defensible place would be a chamber with only one exit, but that also leaves no room to retreat."
[16:00] <Amonet> "Should we check these older areas first?"
[16:00] <Alveria> "They're closest, so we may as well."
[16:01] <Amonet> "Would we need to keep a map, or is your memory good enough, Alveria?"
[16:02] <Alveria> "Are you making some joke about my memory?! Just because I forget spells after I use them doesn't mean I'm scatterbrained, you know! This happens to every wizard!"
[16:02] <Alveria> "WHY ARE YOU PICKING ON ME?"
[16:03] <Amonet> "I'll keep a map, then," Amonet asserts. "Puk'lor, please lead the way."
[16:04] * Gourash stares slightly. "Let's just get going."
[16:05] * Gourash takes the front with Puk'lor.
[16:05] <Ebiris> "Very well," Puk'lor nods dourly, heading back the way you came and up the circular passageway. It's only a little bit up that way that you reach the first branching hallway. Two of them, actually, one sinking into the 'floor' beneath you, while the other is a quarter of the way around the cylinder, pointing vaguely up from you. Two more are seen just a little bit ahead, more or less opposite of the first two.
[16:06] <Ebiris> OOC: spot checks
[16:06] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+5 monk
[16:06] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+5 monk and gets 16." [1d20=11]
[16:06] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5
[16:06] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 and gets 22." [1d20=17]
[16:06] <Alveria> roll 1d20+3 me
[16:06] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+3 me and gets 10." [1d20=7]
[16:06] <Keylin> roll 1d20+13
[16:06] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+13 and gets 28." [1d20=15]
[16:06] <Alveria> roll 1d20+7 not me
[16:06] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+7 not me and gets 17." [1d20=10]
[16:07] -> *Keylin* While walking, you become aware of a trio of those rats you saw earlier shadowing you - they're on the 'ceiling' relative to where you're walking, and seem to be tailing the party.
[16:07] <Gourash> roll 1d20-1
[16:08] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20-1 and gets 6." [1d20=7]
[16:13] * Keylin pulls out her bow and gives a quick aim at one of the rats tailing their group, before releasing an arrow, trying to barbecue or at least knock down one of the rats. "Remember the brain rat I mentioned back when we first got here, guys? There's three of them now," Keylin comments as her arrow flies.
[16:13] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[16:13] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 15." [1d20=9]
[16:15] <Ebiris> Keylin's arrow manages to land just ahead of the rats, missing them but lighting the targets up for all to see. The rats squeak in alarm as rays of visible energy arc between all three, before a beam of pale blue energy lances down towards Keylin in retaliation!
[16:15] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6
[16:15] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 and gets 22." [1d20=16]
[16:15] <Ebiris> roll 1d3
[16:15] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d3 and gets 2." [1d3=2]
[16:15] <Ebiris> The ray hits Keylin who feels minorly chilled by it, but not overly inconvenienced.
[16:15] <Ebiris> OOC: init
[16:15] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+3 rats
[16:15] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+3 rats and gets 14." [1d20=11]
[16:15] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 monk
[16:15] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 monk and gets 17." [1d20=10]
[16:16] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[16:16] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 13." [1d20=13]
[16:16] <Keylin> roll 1d20+4
[16:16] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+4 and gets 13." [1d20=9]
[16:16] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[16:16] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 21." [1d20=20]
[16:16] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 me
[16:16] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 me and gets 7." [1d20=2]
[16:16] <Alveria> roll 1d20+4 not me
[16:16] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+4 not me and gets 18." [1d20=14]
[16:17] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash. The rats are about 10 feet behind you and 40 feet 'above' you
[16:17] <Gourash> OOC: Huh. *nods*
[16:19] * Gourash focuses his gravity along the wall, starting to get used to this and ruishes towards the rats, getting within range if not being able to squash them immediately.
[16:20] <Ebiris> OOC: to clarify, you're setting the wall halfway between you and the rats as 'down' and running around towards them?
[16:21] <Gourash> OOC: Yeah
[16:22] <Ebiris> OOC: Okay, let's say that's 60 feet. You move the first forty easily enough with all of your remaining move action. You'd have to make a climb check to get the rest of the way on your next turn or readjust gravity.
[16:23] <Ebiris> Moving away from the party, Gourash seems to run up the curved wall away from them with the greatest of ease, almost hanging upside down above the rest of his companions as he nears his prey!
[16:23] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[16:25] <Alveria> Eagan likewise holds position, keeping an eye out for other rats! Or threats.
[16:26] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+3
[16:26] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+3 and gets 19." [1d20=16]
[16:27] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+21
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+21 and gets 31." [1d20=10]
[16:27] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+21
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+21 and gets 31." [1d20=10]
[16:27] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+17
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+17 and gets 30." [1d20=13]
[16:27] <Ebiris> roll 1d6+3
[16:27] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6+3 and gets 6." [1d6=3]
[16:28] <Ebiris> Following Gourash's example, Puk'lor falls away from the party, but moving far more swiftly as he bounces off the midway point of the passageway before falling straight up towards the rats and cutting apart the lead one in one stroke!
[16:29] <Ebiris> The remaining rats don't seem keen to fight at this provocation, one retreating backwards the way the party just came while the other falls straight towards one of the nearby branching passages, vanishing out of sight!
[16:29] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin - the fleeing rat is still in range of bowshot
[16:32] <Ebiris> Amonet moves closer to Alveria, ready to guard her against attack.
[16:35] * Keylin pulls another arrow on the bowstring and fires at the fleeing rat.
[16:35] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[16:35] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 11." [1d20=5]
[16:35] <Ebiris> OOC: full attack, for the love of god
[16:35] <Keylin> roll 1d20+1
[16:35] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+1 and gets 17." [1d20=16]
[16:35] <Ebiris> OOC: second hits!
[16:35] <Keylin> ooc: so I always forget! >_>
[16:35] <Keylin> roll 1d8+1d6+1
[16:35] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d8+1d6+1 and gets 13." [1d8=7][1d6=5]
[16:36] <Ebiris> This time Keylin strikes true, her second arrow spearing the rat as it flees, its corpse swiftly burned to ash by the flaming arrow!
[16:37] * Gourash skids to a halt. "Rats not even last that long."
[16:37] <Keylin> "What werethey anyhow?"
[16:38] <Amonet> "Evil rats, form a hive mind. We went through this before," Amonet says, sounding mildly irritated.
[16:38] <Ebiris> "No ordinary rats..." Puk'lor looks down at the decomposed rodent he split in two, no blood at all showing around its corpse. "They have been dead for some time."
[16:39] <Alveria> "Not dead enough, it seems."
[16:40] <Amonet> "Fire makes them deader."
[16:41] <Ebiris> "Among other things," Puk'lor nods as his karach shimmers slightly, the blade turning golden as he rejoins the party.
[16:41] <Ebiris> OOC: will save, Alvie
[16:41] <Gourash> "Undead hive rats?"
[16:41] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6
[16:41] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 and gets 15." [1d20=9]
[16:41] <Gourash> "So who the necro?" He asked, what to him, was the obvious question.
[16:42] -> *Alveria* You feel a faint stirring of life-affirming power within, but it remains tantalisingly beyond reach.
[16:42] <Alveria> "Didn't work, Puk'Lor," mumbles Alveria. "At least I didn't get a headache this time. And we don't know, let'
[16:42] <Alveria> 's keep looking around until we find out."
[16:47] <Ebiris> The first few passages offer little beyond ancient and thankfully unmoving skeletons, little to disturb the party nor provide clue as to what evil has infested this place. It's after nearly an hour of slow exploration that the party finds something out of place. (more)
[16:48] <Ebiris> In a wide chamber with side alcoves that are utterly choked with ossified remains, a door to a stone mausuleum lies ahead, having been forced open. At the bottom of the door lies a fresh Githzerai corpse, dressed in black robes, and looking like he was savagely beaten with some sort of blunt instrument that broke nearly every bone in his body.
[16:49] * Amonet makes sure to keep her early warning system for all that comes to evil constantly on.
[16:49] <Gourash> "Someone else clearly here," Gourash headed down near the corpse, looking for answers.
[16:49] <Ebiris> "He is dressed as an interrer, and this type of tomb is where we would keep the dishonoured dead," Puk'lor comments warily, holding his blade at the ready. "Be wary."
[16:50] -> *Amonet* Amonet can sense evil through the door ahead, just out of sight, and rather near Gourash.
[16:50] * Alveria frowns. "Dishonoured, eh..." she murmurs, csating Detect Magic.
[16:50] <Amonet> "There might be something near you, Gourash!" Amonet cautions. "Just beyond that door!"
[16:51] <Ebiris> OOC: init, here I think
[16:51] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 me
[16:51] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 me and gets 22." [1d20=17]
[16:51] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 monk
[16:51] <Alveria> roll 1d20+4 not me
[16:51] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 monk and gets 23." [1d20=16]
[16:51] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+4 not me and gets 20." [1d20=16]
[16:51] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+9 ????
[16:51] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+9 ???? and gets 22." [1d20=13]
[16:52] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[16:52] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 11." [1d20=10]
[16:52] <Keylin> roll 1d20+4
[16:52] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+4 and gets 24." [1d20=20]
[16:52] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[16:52] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 3." [1d20=3]
[16:52] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[16:54] <Ebiris> The chamber you are currently in is thirty feet wide by fifty long, with a hallway at the far end behind the party. The mausuleum door is ten feet wide and forced open outwards. Gourash and the corpse are about five feet in front of the door. Amonet sensed evil through the door and a bit to the right of Gourash.
[16:55] * Keylin readies an arrow on her bow, holding it tightly, ready to loose at anything entering through that door that looks unfriendly.
[16:56] <Ebiris> Puk'lor quickly moves beside Gourash, ready to defend him against whatever may come through.
[16:56] <Ebiris> OOC: ??? will go 'before' Alvie but they'll resolve at the same time
[16:59] <Ebiris> As the monk gets into position, a skeleton bursts out from the side of the mausoleum and through the doorway... but no ordinary skeleton, this! While shorn of all its flesh, it seems to retain its intestinal tract, which has been grossly engorged and discoloured a sickly purple, filling up the monster's entire ribcage and forming a noose around its neck before coming up the skull and through the mouth like a grotesquely deformed tongue!
[16:59] <Ebiris> Seeing two potential targets, the creature wastes no time in attacking Gourash, its tongue spearing out of its head and showing what appear to be blackened teeth on the end as it lances towards the barbarian!
[17:00] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12
[17:00] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 and gets 24." [1d20=12]
[17:00] <Ebiris> OOC: fort save, Gourash
[17:01] <Ebiris> OOC: remember your vs undead bonus
[17:01] <Gourash> OOC: *nods*
[17:02] <Gourash> roll 1d20+8+2
[17:02] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+8+2 and gets 12." [1d20=2]
[17:02] <Ebiris> roll 1d4
[17:02] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d4 and gets 1." [1d4=1]
[17:03] <Ebiris> As soon as the deformed extremity touches Gourash's flesh, he feels his muscles seize up, suddenly unresponsive and unmoving! He can only stand in mute horror as the battle continues around him, Puk'lor lunging forward to slash at the beast, too late to save Gourash!
[17:03] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+18
[17:03] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+18 and gets 33." [1d20=15]
[17:03] <Ebiris> roll 3d6+5
[17:03] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 3d6+5 and gets 17." [3d6=6, 2, 4]
[17:04] <Ebiris> It's a solid hit, cutting a vicious tear through the monster's intestines, but not giving it more than a brief pause!
[17:04] <Ebiris> OOC: Alvie
[17:04] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[17:04] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 27." [1d20=19]
[17:05] -> *Amonet* It's a mohrg, the animated corpse of a mass murderer who never repented his crimes. Its tongue is capable of paralyzing with a touch, and those slain by it will rise as zombies.
[17:05] <Alveria> "A morgh! How disgusting," revulses the elf, who pauses for the moment. (Holding~)
[17:06] * Keylin releases her arrow, attempting to poke a hole through the creature's head.
[17:06] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[17:06] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 12." [1d20=6]
[17:06] <Amonet> "A mohrg, very nasty," Amonet agrees, flincing.
[17:06] <Ebiris> Alas Keylin's arrow misses, only flying into the mausoleum beyond!
[17:06] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[17:07] <Alveria> Eagan unleashes a blast of searing light at the undead monstrosity!
[17:08] <Alveria> roll 1d20+0 touch gogogo, it's weird not rolling for wild mage randomness
[17:08] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+0 touch gogogo, it's weird not rolling for wild mage randomness and gets 16." [1d20=16]
[17:08] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[17:08] <Alveria> roll 8d6
[17:08] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 8d6 and gets 33." [8d6=3, 5, 1, 5, 6, 2, 6, 5]
[17:09] <Ebiris> The sphere of light makes the undead monstrosity's flesh and bones hiss and blacken on impact, giving it far more pause than Puk'lor's attack did!
[17:09] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[17:10] * Amonet charges the mohrg, lance glowing brightly!
[17:10] <Amonet> roll 1d20+14
[17:10] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+14 and gets 25." [1d20=11]
[17:10] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[17:10] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8+2d6
[17:10] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8+2d6 and gets 27." [1d8=7][2d6=6, 6]
[17:11] * Keylin lets loose two more arrows, hopefully these'll do better and hit the creature thing.
[17:11] <Keylin> ooc: scratch
[17:12] <Ebiris> Ripping through the creature's spine, Amonet's attack causes it to buckle slightly, but it doesn't fall quite yet, propelled by both negative energy and madness!
[17:12] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7
[17:12] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 and gets 11." [1d20=4]
[17:12] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7
[17:12] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 and gets 8." [1d20=1]
[17:12] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7
[17:12] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 and gets 15." [1d20=8]
[17:14] <Ebiris> OOC: Keylin, Puk'lor, Mohrg, and Alvie (if she wants) all go at once!
[17:14] <Alveria> OOC: I'm cool. Fight-o, guys~
[17:14] <Alveria> OOC: If it's not dead after they all go I'll do something.
[17:15] <Ebiris> Puk'lor strikes out at the Mohrg, a whirlwind of destruction even as it tries to do something unspeakable with its tongue!
[17:16] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+12 mohrg
[17:16] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+12 mohrg and gets 14." [1d20=2]
[17:16] * Keylin readies another set of arrows and fires them in succession. Hopefully both or at least one will hit.
[17:16] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[17:16] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 18." [1d20=12]
[17:16] <Keylin> roll 1d20+1
[17:16] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+1 and gets 12." [1d20=11]
[17:16] <Ebiris> roll 3#1d20+18
[17:16] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 3#1d20+18 and gets 102." [3#1d20+18 = 35, 29, 38]
[17:16] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+13
[17:16] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+13 and gets 19." [1d20=6]
[17:16] <Ebiris> roll 9d6+15
[17:16] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 9d6+15 and gets 47." [9d6=1, 4, 5, 2, 6, 2, 1, 5, 6]
[17:17] <Ebiris> Ducking under the grotesque intestinal tongue, Puk'lor hacks several vicious cuts into the monstrosity, turning around to coldly utter "You are already dead," before it collapses in a heap behind him and Keylin's arrows sail overhead!
[17:18] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan, if there's anything you want to do
[17:18] <Alveria> OOC: We're still in init?
[17:19] <Ebiris> OOC: yes!
[17:19] <Alveria> Eagan does a 180 degree spin by instinct, looking for further.. targets! OOC: I'm.. making.. a spot check as a standard action?
[17:19] <Alveria> OOC: I can do that, right?
[17:19] <Ebiris> OOC: if you want
[17:20] <Alveria> roll 1d20+7 yes!
[17:20] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+7 yes! and gets 11." [1d20=4]
[17:20] <Ebiris> Eagan sees no targets! Oh, wait, those shadows falling out of the walls and wraith rising out of the floor count, right?
[17:21] <Alveria> OOC: Can *Alvie* go, now?
[17:21] <Ebiris> OOC: She can!
[17:23] <Alveria> Alveria backs off away from the creatures, flinging a volley of magical missiles at the more intimidating wraith!
[17:23] <Alveria> roll 1d6+5
[17:23] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d6+5 and gets 10." [1d6=5]
[17:23] <Alveria> roll 5d4+5
[17:23] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 5d4+5 and gets 17." [5d4=4, 1, 3, 1, 3]
[17:24] <Ebiris> The missiles slam into the seemingly animated and ragged cloak of darkness, one after the other! It buckles and recoils from the assault, but stays up nonetheless!
[17:24] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[17:26] * Amonet nods at Alveria, and charges the wraith she had just wounded, seeking to finish it off!
[17:26] <Amonet> roll 1d20+14
[17:26] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+14 and gets 29." [1d20=15]
[17:26] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[17:26] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8+2d6
[17:26] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8+2d6 and gets 22." [1d8=6][2d6=6, 2]
[17:27] <Ebiris> The wraith emits a soundless cry as it disintegrates... yet instead of falling into formless nothing, it seems to leave behind a ragged black cloak, draped over Amonet's lance for a moment before it slides off onto the floor, a corporeal marker left behind of the undead spectre.
[17:27] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin & Puk'lor
[17:29] <Ebiris> Puk'lor moves to attack one of the shadows, striking out with his currently undead bane karach!
[17:29] * Keylin just shoots at one of the shadows. They're nasty little vile things.
[17:29] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+18
[17:29] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+18 and gets 35." [1d20=17]
[17:29] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[17:29] <Ebiris> roll 3d6+5
[17:29] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 10." [1d20=4]
[17:29] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 3d6+5 and gets 18." [3d6=1, 6, 6]
[17:29] <Keylin> roll 1d20+1
[17:29] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+1 and gets 19." [1d20=18]
[17:29] <Ebiris> OOC: 1 hit, Key
[17:29] <Keylin> roll 1d8+1d6+1
[17:29] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d8+1d6+1 and gets 12." [1d8=7][1d6=4]
[17:31] <Ebiris> Both shadows are badly wounded by dual attack, but aren't put down for the count just yet!
[17:31] <Ebiris> OOC: go Eagan
[17:32] <Alveria> Eagan wanders over to smash one of the shadows good. Yes. Very good.
[17:32] <Alveria> roll 1d20+8 eaganbot attack!
[17:32] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+8 eaganbot attack! and gets 9." [1d20=1]
[17:32] <Alveria> OOC: The one hit by Key- har.
[17:32] <Alveria> roll 1d20+8 critfail check
[17:32] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+8 critfail check and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[17:32] <Ebiris> OOC: just remembered something
[17:32] <Ebiris> roll 1d100 puk'lor
[17:32] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 puk'lor and gets 72." [1d100=72]
[17:32] <Ebiris> roll 1d100 Keylin
[17:33] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 Keylin and gets 99." [1d100=99]
[17:33] <Ebiris> Eagan sadly misses the wily shadow, which promptly attacks him while the other targets Puk'lor!
[17:33] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+3 Eagan
[17:33] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+3 Eagan and gets 21." [1d20=18]
[17:33] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+3 Puk'lor
[17:33] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+3 Puk'lor and gets 12." [1d20=9]
[17:33] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[17:33] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 1." [1d6=1]
[17:34] <Ebiris> Puk'lor dodges, while Eagan suffers a minor hit, sapping away some of his strength!
[17:34] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[17:35] * Amonet first strikes at the shadow assaulting Eagan!
[17:35] <Amonet> roll 1d20+12
[17:35] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+12 and gets 26." [1d20=14]
[17:35] <Ebiris> OOC: hit
[17:35] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8+2d6
[17:35] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8+2d6 and gets 24." [1d8=6][2d6=5, 5]
[17:36] * Amonet targets the remaining shadow with her backswing!
[17:36] <Amonet> roll 1d20+7
[17:36] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+7 and gets 13." [1d20=6]
[17:36] <Ebiris> OOC: bare hit
[17:36] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8+2d6 still a hit!
[17:36] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8+2d6 still a hit! and gets 16." [1d8=3][2d6=1, 4]
[17:37] <Ebiris> Whipping Marjorie around in both directions, Amonet tears apart both shadows in a nova of holy power, reducing them to nothingness!
[17:37] <Ebiris> OOC: combat basically over
[17:37] <Amonet> "Evil has left the building!"
[17:37] -> *Alveria* The cloak left behind by the wraith Amonet killed radiates strong magic
[17:38] * Alveria shrugs. "Plenty of it still around, I bet," she reflects, taking stock of the area once again.
[17:39] <Ebiris> "Gourash appears to be unwell," Puk'lor observes, going towards the stationary barbarian.
[17:39] <Alveria> "He'll get better in a couple minutes," replies Alveria, bending down to pick up the cloak and inspect it more closely. OOC: school lulz
[17:39] <Amonet> "I believe that in half a minute, no longer, he would be better again," Amonet comments, coming over to observe him.
[17:39] <Alveria> roll 1d20+19 spellcraft
[17:39] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+19 spellcraft and gets 21." [1d20=2]
[17:39] -> *Alveria* Necromancy
[17:40] <Ebiris> Indeed, after a few more seconds pass, Gourash relaxes, finally able to move once again!
[17:40] <Alveria> "This look wrong to you, Amonet?" queries Alveria, waving the cloak around in the paladin's face.
[17:41] * Gourash rubs the chill out of his bones, "thanks for covering..." He replied to Puk'lor.
[17:41] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[17:41] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 4." [1d6=4]
[17:41] -> *Amonet* the cloak seems to have some lingering evil taint, but doesn't radiate any in of itself.
[17:42] <Ebiris> "We must look out for one another if we are to survive here, I believe," the monk nods dourly to Gourash.
[17:43] <Amonet> "Somewhat," she responds, recoiling. "But the evil seems to be fading with time."
[17:44] * Gourash nods in agreement, looking about the room they were in now that the spirits weren't here, seeing if they were protecting any passageways further.
[17:44] <Alveria> "Huh. Makes me nervous," mutters the witch, shoving the thing into her pack.
[17:44] <Amonet> "Then why are you taking it?"
[17:45] <Alveria> "I seem to have a habit of doing things that terrify me, lately," remarks Alveria.
[17:45] <Amonet> "Yes, that is true," Amonet agrees, letting the matter drop.
[17:45] <Ebiris> The mausoleum that the mohrg came out of holds a few other corpses, many of which appear damaged or despoiled... nothing really of interest, though, and no other passages are immediately obvious.
[17:46] * Amonet looks around for evil, lingering or otherwise.
[17:46] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[17:46] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 3." [1d6=3]
[17:46] * Alveria gives the tomb a quick check before moving on. OOC: i.e. taking 10 on a search check for 17
[17:46] -> *Amonet* There's a strong lingering aura from the mohrg's bones, and weaker auras from where the two shadows were slain.
[17:48] -> *Alveria* Alveria finds nothing terribly interesting, here.
[17:48] * Amonet says a prayer to Horus-Re for the departed souls as Alveria searches.
[17:48] * Gourash keeps guard, letting the sharp eyed elf search
[17:49] <Ebiris> Marjorie joins in with Amonet's prayer, while Puk'lor moves the recently dead Githzerai to the side. "He can be given proper rites after we cleanse this place."
[17:50] <Alveria> "Anyway, let's carry on," replies Alveria, sighing.
[17:50] * Amonet allows Puk'lor to lead them, again.
[17:50] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6
[17:51] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 and gets 14." [1d20=8]
[17:51] <Ebiris> OOC: will save, Amonet
[17:51] <Amonet> roll 1d20+15
[17:51] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+15 and gets 21." [1d20=6]
[17:53] <Ebiris> And so the party searches further, fortunately not accosted by more undead or rats as they clear out the next few passageways, working their way up the central cylinder of the necropolis...
[17:54] -> *Amonet* As you explore, you feel something impinging on your consciousness... It's a wordless mental prodding, but it's urging you in a certain direction, further up and through one of the side passages in the distance. It's easily resisted by your will, but it definitely feels like someone's trying to usurp you.
[17:54] <Ebiris> "Amonet, I think I know which way we should be going," Marjorie speaks up, her voice a soft whine, barely heard by any except her wielder.
[17:56] <Amonet> "Someone wanted me to go down a specific passageway," Amonet declares, stopping momentarily to point out the way. "I can't be certain the urging was benevolent in nature, but even if it is a trap, perhaps we should allow ourselves to be caught, if we know about it in advance?"
[17:57] <Ebiris> "It's close, like it's calling to me..." Marjorie goes on, sounding vaguely dazed. "Can't we go, Amonet?"
[17:57] <Gourash> "Gourash no like traps when they seem to be able to come through walls..."
[17:59] * Alveria chortles to herself. "Ahahaha. Well, what if we staggered our line? I've got dimension door, so if it's something horrible I can teleport a me and two of you guys away."
[18:00] <Amonet> "Marjorie, don't be taken in so easily," Amonet cautions her, before nodding at Alveria. "We are, after all, trying to ascertain who is behind this evil and eliminate it and its minions. This might give us the chance to find out more."
[18:02] <Ebiris> "But it feels so nice... I haven't felt like this since I was alive," Marjorie replies, insistent. "Please, I can feel where it is, so can't we go to it?"
[18:02] <Amonet> "Maybe we could," Amonet considers. "But first, Eagan, Alveria, does any of you have protection from evil readied, by chance?"
[18:02] <Gourash> "Lets go...It probably bad magic affecting her."
[18:03] <Ebiris> "It can't be bad if it feels this good!" Marjorie counters, the light she generates seeming to flicker slightly for a moment before stabilising.
[18:03] <Alveria> "I bet that's what conjurers think about succubi," chortles Alveria, stilling greatly humoured.
[18:04] <Alveria> "And, uh, no, I don't."
[18:04] <Alveria> "And neither does he."
[18:04] <Amonet> "Umm. I suppose we'll go take a look with you, then?" Amonet suggests to Alveria. "Would anyone else want to come?"
[18:05] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6
[18:05] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 and gets 11." [1d20=5]
[18:05] <Alveria> Eagan raises his hand.
[18:06] <Ebiris> "It's... it's not like *that*, Alveria!" Marjorie replies hotly to the elven mage. "It's more like seeing again after being blind... you couldn't even understand."
[18:07] * Amonet nods, and follows the feeling, while remaining vigil against any evil!
[18:07] * Gourash frowns, the mace at the ready in disbelief of this.
[18:08] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 wand of CLW on Eagan
[18:08] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 wand of CLW on Eagan and gets 7." [1d8=6]
[18:08] <Amonet> roll 1d8+1 wand of CLW on Eagan #2
[18:08] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+1 wand of CLW on Eagan #2 and gets 2." [1d8=1]
[18:08] <Alveria> "You keep saying that to me, and yet, I feel I understand all too well... yes, seeing things in a different light. Ah, let's all go. We'll be going there sooner or later."
[18:09] <Ebiris> "If this is responsible for animating the dead of this place, it could have some sort of effect on the spirit that dwells in your lance," Puk'lor warns Amonet as he follows, the group proceeding onwards.
[18:09] <Ebiris> "Down this passage!" Marjorie chirps excitedly once you reach an all too familiar looking gap in the wall after a minute or so.
[18:09] <Amonet> "Don't forget your righteous spirit, Marjorie!"
[18:11] * Gourash heads to it, his eyes roaming around, not wanting another go at being paralyzed.
[18:11] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[18:11] <Alveria> "Because I sure can't," mutters Alveria.
[18:11] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 20." [1d20=12]
[18:12] <Ebiris> A chill fills the air as the party begins to make their way down this passage, although Marjorie hums in absolute bliss... and yet, after a few dozen feet, her light simply ceases to penetrate. Amonet and Gourash can see beyond, thanks to their darkvision, but it's as if the magical light simply ceases to be past a certain point.
[18:12] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6 religion~
[18:12] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 religion~ and gets 11." [1d20=5]
[18:12] * Alveria tries lighting a torch.
[18:13] -> *Amonet* While you're not sure why it would have any sort of mental effect, ghosts do derive all of their sustenance from the negative energy - it's really the only thing that makes them feel close to 'alive'. Each one has its own channel to the negative energy plane, but outside sources could have a stronger effect.
[18:13] <Ebiris> The light from the torch flickers down the corridor, past where Marjorie's magical light stops.
[18:15] * Gourash looks slightly unnerved at all this magical whobededoo
[18:16] -> *Alveria* Alvie has no clue what's up with Marjorie. Girl's probably just finally snapped or something.
[18:17] <Alveria> "Let's carry on," whispers Alveria, looking edgy herself.
[18:18] * Amonet calls Daylight upon herself, before glowing with a deeper, inner light.
[18:18] <Ebiris> Amonet's daylight meets the same fate as the illumination cast by Marjorie, simply being nullified further down the corridor. Only Alveria's torch provides any illumination.
[18:19] * Gourash heads a little bit forward into the darkness, getting a better view of what they were walking into
[18:19] <Ebiris> OOC: spot check, Gourash
[18:22] -> *Amonet* you sense some faint evil at the very edge of your perceptions, but it recedes into the distance quickly, vanishing out of sight.
[18:22] <Gourash> roll 1d20-1 hah
[18:22] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20-1 hah and gets 16." [1d20=17]
[18:23] <Amonet> "We are not alone, something is in the distance."
[18:23] <Alveria> OOC: How can that take you three minutes? ;_;
[18:23] -> *Gourash* You think you saw one of those rats, but it retreated into the darkness almost as soon as you spotted it.
[18:23] <Gourash> OOC: actually got distracted for a second with chomping on food, sorry ^^;
[18:23] <Alveria> OOC: Mwaf
[18:24] <Gourash> "The rats are  hiding here..." Gourash lets the others know.
[18:24] <Ebiris> "Come on, we can take some rats, let's just get moving!" Marjorie encourages the party.
[18:25] <Gourash> "Your lance acting more and more funny"
[18:25] <Alveria> "Let's spread out. They'll use large spells on us, I bet," grouses Alveria. "Gourash, can you throw this torch at 'em so we can all see?"
[18:25] <Amonet> "I suppose that if we are to ever leave this place, we should eliminate them once and for all."
[18:27] * Gourash nods, grabbing a torch and carrying it along. "Sure."
[18:27] <Alveria> "Ok. How many are there, for that matter?" queries Alveria, squinting into the distance.
[18:28] <Gourash> "They ran off," Gourash commented, leading into the darkness.
[18:29] <Alveria> OOC: We continue!
[18:29] <Amonet> OOC: For justice!
[18:30] <Gourash> OOC: Heh
[18:33] <Ebiris> And so the party advances, Gourash leading the way while Keylin and Puk'lor guard the rear. The corridor continues a stretch more before they reach the end, which opens out into a large circular chamber... which is utterly choked with rats, covering the floors, walls, and ceiling. And they all turn to look at the interlopers with beady rat-like eyes.
[18:33] <Ebiris> At the centre of this circular chamber hangs a jagged tear in reality, like a slitted black eye surrounded by rheumy purple capillaries that weave lazily through the air around it. Looking directly at it causes discomfort in some forgotten part of your mind, recognising the inherent wrongness and anathema to life in this manifestation.
[18:33] <Ebiris> Even from a distance, it engenders an all too physical chill, eliciting goosebumps and a heavy, sick, feeling in the pit of your stomach. Whatever that thing is, getting closer seems like a bad idea.
[18:33] <Ebiris> Amonet is worst hit, dropping Marjorie from her nerveless fingers as she's stunned by the sheer overwhelming intensity of the evil ahead of her.
[18:33] <Ebiris> In the minds of all the party, however, the rat-mind speaks. *MURDERERS! YOU HAVE KILLED PART OF US! BEG FOR YOUR LIVES, OR PREPARE FOR OBLIVION, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. ONLY KNOW THAT HERE YOU WILL BE ENDED.*
[18:36] <Alveria> "At least I'll deny the Gith their satisfaction," grimaces Alveria.
[18:38] <Keylin> "You do that regularly, though," Keylin comments.

[18:40] <Ebiris> OOC: initiative
[18:40] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5
[18:40] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 and gets 7." [1d20=2]
[18:40] <Amonet> roll 1d20
[18:40] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20 and gets 19." [1d20=19]
[18:40] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 HIVEMIND
[18:40] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 HIVEMIND and gets 14." [1d20=7]
[18:40] <Keylin> roll 1d20+4
[18:40] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+4 and gets 20." [1d20=16]

[18:40] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 Monk and gets 10." [1d20=3]
[18:41] <Alveria> roll 1d20+4 eagan
[18:41] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+4 eagan and gets 9." [1d20=5]
[18:41] <Gourash> roll 1d20+1
[18:41] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+1 and gets 11." [1d20=10]
[18:44] * Keylin shoots at the evil things with fire power.
[18:44] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[18:44] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 26." [1d20=20]
[18:44] <Keylin> roll 1d20+1
[18:44] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+1 and gets 17." [1d20=16]
[18:44] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6 check
[18:44] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 check and gets 7." [1d20=1]
[18:44] <Ebiris> OOC: can't crit undead. Two hits, anyway.
[18:44] <Ebiris> OOC: just roll the energy damage, so 2d6
[18:44] <Keylin> roll 2d6
[18:44] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 2d6 and gets 10." [2d6=5, 5]
[18:45] <Ebiris> Keylin's arrows arc into the swarm and burn a few rats, but there's hundreds, if not thousands, more of them!
[18:46] <Ebiris> The rats chitter, a sonorous hum rising up from them as energy flows across the swarm, flames rising up amidst the swarm! In an instant, every single rat present is wreathed in burning red flames that don't seem to cause any harm to the undead rodents!
[18:47] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash
[18:47] <Amonet> roll 1d20+3
[18:47] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+3 and gets 8." [1d20=5]
[18:48] <Ebiris> OOC: sorry, the rat-flames aren't red, they're blue
[18:48] -> *Amonet* You have no clue what that thing in the middle of the swarm is.
[18:48] <Gourash> OOC: *nods*
[18:49] * Gourash roars shrugging at the magic weakening him as he sought to overcome the horde by pure rage, wading in with swiftly smashing mace.
[18:50] <Gourash> OOC: Raging.  Seven rounds I believe.  +16 hp, +4 str, con, +2 willy ada yadda
[18:51] <Gourash> roll 1d20+15-4 (PA) for the eye!
[18:51] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+15-4 (PA) for the eye! and gets 14." [1d20=3]
[18:51] <Ebiris> OOC: fort save, Gourash
[18:51] <Gourash> roll 1d20+10+2
[18:51] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+10+2 and gets 27." [1d20=15]
[18:52] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[18:52] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 37." [1d100=37]
[18:53] <Ebiris> Gourash feels an overwhelming chill numb him as soon as he gets within twenty feet of the strange rift in the centre of the room. Shrugging it off, he wades through the rats to strike out at the strange eye-like thing, which flares slightly with light as the mace of disruption touches it, yet doesn't seem to be affected in any lasting manner.
[18:54] <Ebiris> Puk'lor holds up his karach for a moment and focuses, as its suddenly wreathed in crackling lightning, before moving to the front of the group to cover the spellcasters.
[18:54] <Ebiris> OOC: will save, Alvie
[18:54] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6
[18:54] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 and gets 23." [1d20=17]
[18:55] -> *Alveria* That did it! Now you can feel a charge filling you, almost enough to make your hair stand on end as a well of arcane power makes itself available to you!
[18:55] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[18:56] <Alveria> Eagan attempts to dispel the rat's fell enchantment! OOC: Targeted at the.. swarm? Yes.
[18:56] <Alveria> roll 1d20+8 CL gogogo
[18:56] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+8 CL gogogo and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[18:56] <Ebiris> Despite Eagan's best efforts, the hivemind maintains its protective magics!
[18:56] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[18:57] <Alveria> Looking more than a little piqued, Alveria flings a hasting enchantment upon her compatriots, before.. backing off quite some from the horde! Not so far that she can't see them, though.
[18:57] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Keylin
[18:58] * Keylin searches to see if she can spot a rat that might look like it's the leader in the middle of that swarm, trying to search for a spot where her arrows might do more good.
[18:59] <Ebiris> None look especially 'leader-like' to Keylin. Indeed, they all appear to be common rats! Except half-rotted and with exposed glowing brains and surrounded by ghostly blue flames.
[18:59] <Ebiris> But otherwise entirely common!
[18:59] <Alveria> roll 1d20+13 knowledge: planes check gogogo
[18:59] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+13 knowledge: planes check gogogo and gets 19." [1d20=6]
[18:59] * Keylin shudders but fires her arrows into the swarms. Nothing to really just target and hit.
[18:59] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[18:59] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 24." [1d20=18]
[18:59] <Keylin> roll 1d20+1
[18:59] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+1 and gets 5." [1d20=4]
[18:59] <Keylin> roll 1d6
[18:59] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d6 and gets 4." [1d6=4]
[19:00] -> *Alveria* Alveria doesn't really know what it is. Feels nasty, though, even at a distance!
[19:00] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet, no longer stunned
[19:02] * Amonet picks up her lance, moving closer to the evil eye, intent on assisting Gourash.
[19:02] <Ebiris> OOC: So wading into the swarm?
[19:02] <Amonet> OOC: Actually!
[19:03] * Amonet picks up her lance and her shield glows faintly as she prepares to fend off the swarm.
[19:05] <Ebiris> As Amonet wards herself against flame, she, Puk'lor, and Keylin all suddenly feel a mental force pressing against them, the collective ratmind overwhelming them with a multitude of strange and alien sensations to overload their mental faculties!
[19:05] <Ebiris> OOC: will saves for Amonet, Keylin, and Puk'lor
[19:05] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+10
[19:05] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+10 and gets 26." [1d20=16]
[19:05] <Keylin> roll 1d20+6
[19:05] * Hatbot --> "Keylin rolls 1d20+6 and gets 14." [1d20=8]
[19:05] <Amonet> roll 1d20+15
[19:05] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+15 and gets 23." [1d20=8]
[19:06] <Ebiris> roll 3d4
[19:06] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 3d4 and gets 6." [3d4=2, 3, 1]
[19:06] <Ebiris> While Puk'lor and Amonet are able to shut out the horrible sensations and images, Keylin finds herself mentally overwhelmed, dropping her bow as she's stunned by the psionic assault!
[19:06] <Ebiris> roll 5d6
[19:06] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d6 and gets 21." [5d6=1, 5, 5, 6, 4]
[19:06] <Ebiris> OOC: fort save, Gourash
[19:07] <Gourash> roll 1d20+10+2
[19:07] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+10+2 and gets 17." [1d20=5]
[19:08] <Ebiris> Gourash finds himself assailed on all sides by rats, biting and clawing at him, climbing up his legs and under his armour to get at his exposed flesh! The fearsome barbarian finds himself too sickened and horrified by this assault to do much!
[19:08] <Ebiris> OOC: nauseated for one round, Gourash
[19:08] <Ebiris> OOC: your go, on that note
[19:09] * Gourash groans sickened as he inverts his gravity, standing on the roof over the swarm now.
[19:09] <Ebiris> This doesn't really help much, since every exposed surface in the chamber is absolutely covered in rats. At least a few fall off him, not quick enough to grab on or change their own gravity.
[19:09] <Ebiris> OOC: another fort save, Gourash
[19:12] <Gourash> roll 1d20+10+2
[19:12] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+10+2 and gets 28." [1d20=16]
[19:13] <Ebiris> Still Gourash feels a fell chill attempting to drain him from that strange rupture that he hit, but is able to shrug it off!
[19:13] <Ebiris> Meanwhile, Puk'lor moves forward to engage the rats at the edge of the swarm, hacking through them with his lightning-powered blade!
[19:13] <Ebiris> roll 3#1d20+16
[19:13] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 3#1d20+16 and gets 74." [3#1d20+16 = 27, 27, 20]
[19:13] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+11
[19:13] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+11 and gets 25." [1d20=14]
[19:13] <Ebiris> roll 4d6
[19:13] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 4d6 and gets 14." [4d6=5, 2, 5, 2]
[19:14] <Ebiris> He manages to thin out a few, shocking and charring them into unmoving corpses, but there's still so many...
[19:14] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[19:14] <Alveria> Eagan calls upon the power of Torm to SMITE these undead abominations!
[19:15] <Alveria> OOC: Holy smite, Will DC... what was it... 18.
[19:15] <Alveria> OOC: I'll go for the eye and the swarm, I guess
[19:15] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+14
[19:16] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+14 and gets 17." [1d20=3]
[19:16] <Alveria> OOC: Haha! Do these count as evil outsiders?
[19:16] <Alveria> OOC: Or just evil?
[19:16] <Ebiris> OOC: just evil
[19:16] <Alveria> OOC: Ok. They're blind~
[19:16] <Alveria> roll 4d8
[19:16] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 4d8 and gets 14." [4d8=6, 4, 2, 2]
[19:16] <Ebiris> OOC: they're undead
[19:17] <Gourash> OOC: Yay undead
[19:17] <Alveria> OOC: For oen round, yeah
[19:18] <Ebiris> While the rift in the centre of the chamber is unaffected, many rats are slain by the welling of holy power that erupts in their midst! Still many more yet remain, however, squeaking in blinded confusion!
[19:18] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[19:19] <Alveria> Alvie stares hard at the battle before her. Her eyes gleam a too-bright gold, and crackling lances of blinding lighting strike forth from her, sweeping across the walls like a deadly searchlight!
[19:19] <Alveria> OOC: Hmm. Touch attack, yeah
[19:19] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6
[19:19] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 and gets 12." [1d20=6]
[19:19] <Alveria> OOC: Wait, they're blind!
[19:19] <Alveria> OOC: +2~
[19:19] <Ebiris> OOC: hits. Hilariously would've missed if they weren't blind.
[19:20] <Alveria> OOC: Figures
[19:20] <Alveria> roll 8d6 LIGHTdamage.
[19:20] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 8d6 LIGHTdamage.  and gets 33." [8d6=4, 6, 2, 4, 5, 2, 4, 6]
[19:20] <Alveria> OOC: Man, how do you miss a wall
[19:21] <Ebiris> Alveria's searing light manages to score through dozens of the rats on the far wall, reducing them to ash! It seems like you're making progress, but still the swarm remains in huge numbers!
[19:21] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[19:21] * Amonet takes advantage of the undead swarm's confusion as she charges past the squeaking masses to smite the abomination at their center!
[19:22] <Ebiris> OOC: fort save
[19:22] <Amonet> roll 1d20+16
[19:22] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+16 and gets 30." [1d20=14]
[19:22] <Ebiris> OOC: make your attack
[19:23] <Amonet> roll 1d20+21 smite~
[19:23] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+21 smite~ and gets 31." [1d20=10]
[19:23] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[19:23] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 73." [1d100=73]
[19:23] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+8
[19:23] <Amonet> roll 1d8+8+2d6+5
[19:23] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d8+8+2d6+5 and gets 18." [1d8=2][2d6=2, 1]
[19:23] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+8 and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[19:24] <Ebiris> roll 1d4
[19:24] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d4 and gets 3." [1d4=3]
[19:25] <Amonet> OOC: Actually, +10 damage, forgot the charging smite....
[19:28] <Ebiris> "Yes, closer!" Marjorie encourages as Amonet charges the manifestation, but as soon as she touches it, the ghost emits a horrendous scream of tortured agony! With an audible tearing noise, Marjorie's ghostly form emerges from the lance, which dims in Amonet's grasp, seeming heavier and somehow diminished.
[19:28] <Ebiris> The ghostly young girl rights herself next to the rift, a semi-transparent figure of glowing blue, her eyes soulless pits of agony and despair as she rolls back her head and cries out a terrifying moan that seems to tap into the souls of everyone present, filling them with despair!
[19:28] <Ebiris> OOC: will saves, everyone
[19:28] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+14 rats
[19:28] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+14 rats and gets 26." [1d20=12]
[19:28] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6
[19:28] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 and gets 20." [1d20=14]
[19:28] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+10 monk
[19:28] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+10 monk and gets 30." [1d20=20]
[19:29] <Gourash> roll 1d20+3+2+2 HIGH
[19:29] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+3+2+2 HIGH and gets 19." [1d20=12]
[19:30] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6 Keylin
[19:30] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 Keylin and gets 7." [1d20=1]
[19:30] <Ebiris> roll 2d4
[19:30] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 2d4 and gets 5." [2d4=3, 2]
[19:31] <Ebiris> While most present are able to keep themselves together, Gourash and Keylin are reached in some primal part of their minds by Marjorie's scream, filling them with the need to flee!
[19:32] <Amonet> roll 1d20+15
[19:32] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+15 and gets 23." [1d20=8]
[19:33] <Ebiris> Meanwhile, the cranium rats seem to be holding for the moment, even the few clutched onto Gourash hesitating...
[19:33] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Gourash
[19:34] * Gourash runs in horror, dropping the mace on the rats as he seeks to escape this ghostly aparration, the wretched scretching of the childlike ghost.
[19:35] <Ebiris> Puk'lor continues hacking into the blinded rats, even as he does look back towards Alveria, some worry actually showing as Gourash retreats. "We cannot win if this continues!"
[19:35] <Ebiris> roll 4#1d20+16
[19:35] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 4#1d20+16 and gets 110." [4#1d20+16 = 28, 28, 33, 21]
[19:35] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+11
[19:35] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+11 and gets 18." [1d20=7]
[19:36] <Ebiris> roll 5d6
[19:36] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d6 and gets 20." [5d6=6, 2, 3, 5, 4]
[19:36] <Ebiris> He cuts a great swathe through the rats, the swarm now starting to appear notably diminished, however.
[19:36] <Ebiris> OOC: Swarm and Eagan go at same time
[19:37] <Ebiris> roll 5d6
[19:37] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d6 and gets 15." [5d6=3, 6, 4, 1, 1]
[19:37] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[19:37] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 62." [1d100=62]
[19:37] <Ebiris> roll 5d6
[19:37] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d6 and gets 19." [5d6=5, 4, 2, 2, 6]
[19:37] <Ebiris> OOC: fort save, Amonet
[19:38] <Amonet> roll 1d20+16
[19:38] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+16 and gets 23." [1d20=7]
[19:39] <Ebiris> Amonet feels dozens of rats crawling up and under her armour, biting and scratching at her flesh, the crawling sensations enough to sicken her!
[19:39] <Ebiris> OOC: nauseated for 1 round
[19:39] <Ebiris> Meanwhile, the rats seem to be casting another spell, causing a great grey web to suddenly fill the corridor behind Alveria, blocking off retreat!
[19:40] <Ebiris> OOC: Eagan go
[19:40] <Alveria> "Are you suggesting we retreat," grunts Alveria, even as Eagan unleashes his own blast of searing light upon the swarm!
[19:41] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 gogogo
[19:41] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 gogogo and gets 12." [1d20=7]
[19:41] <Alveria> OOC: HOW do you miss a swarm, I really don't know
[19:41] <Ebiris> Unfortunately Eagan's blast only finds the dead corpses of rats that have already suffered to Puk'lor and Alveria's attacks, not diminishing the swarm at all!
[19:41] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[19:42] <Alveria> For her part, Alveria unleashes blasts of fire, at least one of which is directed at the webbing!
[19:42] <Alveria> OOC: Whee fiery scorching ray go
[19:42] <Alveria> roll 1d6+6
[19:42] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d6+6 and gets 11." [1d6=5]
[19:42] <Alveria> OOC: YAY!
[19:42] <Alveria> OOC: Two at the rats, one at the webs.
[19:42] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6 r
[19:42] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6 r
[19:42] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 r and gets 14." [1d20=8]
[19:42] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 r and gets 8." [1d20=2]
[19:42] <Alveria> OOC: Srsly, so gay. But I hit the web by default, right?
[19:42] <Ebiris> OOC: yeah, web has touch AC of like 0
[19:42] <Alveria> roll 4d6+4 fire go
[19:42] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 4d6+4 fire go and gets 19." [4d6=4, 6, 1, 4]
[19:43] <Alveria> OOC: Lightning?!
[19:43] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[19:43] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 4." [1d6=4]
[19:43] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[19:43] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 4." [1d6=4]
[19:44] <Ebiris> The web is immolated by Alveria's blast, swiftly burning away to nothing, while another of her rays sweeps through the rats, wiping out a score of them!
[19:45] <Ebiris> Marjorie lowers her gaze to look upon those who remain, her eyes seeming like windows into an eternity of pain.
[19:45] <Ebiris> OOC: fort saves, everyone
[19:45] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5
[19:45] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 and gets 21." [1d20=16]
[19:45] <Amonet> roll 1d20+16
[19:45] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+16 and gets 22." [1d20=6]
[19:45] <Alveria> OOC: It is my lucky day~
[19:46] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+8 rats
[19:46] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+8 rats and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[19:46] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6 monk
[19:46] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 monk and gets 17." [1d20=11]
[19:46] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+7 Keylin
[19:46] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+7 Keylin and gets 20." [1d20=13]
[19:46] <Ebiris> OOC: roll for Eagan, Alvie?
[19:47] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6 cleric
[19:47] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 cleric and gets 26." [1d20=20]
[19:47] <Alveria> OOC: Nah, I'm good. >.>
[19:47] <Ebiris> roll 2d10
[19:47] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 2d10 and gets 7." [2d10=5, 2]
[19:47] <Ebiris> roll 1.5*1d4
[19:47] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1.5*1d4 and gets 6." [1d4=4]
[19:50] <Ebiris> While most of those present are able to shrug off the debilitating gaze of Marjorie, both the rats and Puk'lor do seem be affected, however - the rats shrink away from Marjorie's undead fury, while Puk'lor goes pale and collapses in a shivering catatonic heap!
[19:50] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet
[19:50] <Amonet> "Marjorie!" Amonet calls out, ignoring the rats biting at her flesh in favor of reaching her friend. "Come back to your senses! Didn't you say you would stop evil with me? Weren't we going to right wrongs? What you're doing now, it's not right! No matter how much it hurts, despite the pain, you mustn't forget yourself. Don't lose your mind! We are your friends!"
[19:52] <Ebiris> OOC: make a diplomacy check, rushed (-10)
[19:52] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5
[19:52] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 and gets 12." [1d20=7]
[19:53] <Ebiris> Marjorie seems unresponsive to Amonet's pleas, her face blank and void of emotion.
[19:54] <Ebiris> *YOU! YOU HAVE DIMINISHED US! YOU WILL SUFFER!* the swarm roars mentally into everyone's heads, blasting Marjorie with several magic missiles that arc out from all corners of the chamber!
[19:54] <Ebiris> roll 5d4+5
[19:54] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d4+5 and gets 18." [5d4=2, 1, 3, 4, 3]
[19:54] <Ebiris> Marjorie shudders at the impacts, but still remains whole and intact!
[19:54] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Eagan
[19:58] <Alveria> "Eagan, we're leaving. Summon something up and get out of here," growls Alveria. The cleric nods, and conjured forth... a watery mephit!
[19:58] <Alveria> The mephit advances on the rats, and flings forth a blast of acid, while Eagan runs away!
[19:58] <Alveria> OOC: Lol reflex half DC 13.
[19:59] <Gourash> OOC: Take Keylin with you
[19:59] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+11
[19:59] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+11 and gets 24." [1d20=13]
[19:59] <Alveria> OOC: I intend to teleport her away
[19:59] <Alveria> roll 1d8
[19:59] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d8 and gets 3." [1d8=3]
[19:59] <Ebiris> The blast of acid catches one unlucky rat in the side, burning it in half!
[19:59] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alveria
[20:00] <Alveria> "Amonet, can you grab Puk'Lor and bring him over here?" continues Alveria, standing by Keylin. "I can teleport the comatose away. We're not staying any longer."
[20:00] <Amonet> "I can't leave a friend behind!" Amonet calls back to Alveria, not taking her eyes off Marjorie.
[20:01] <Alveria> "For crying out loud, LISTEN TO ME!"
[20:01] <Amonet> "NO! This is something I absolutely cannot do! I wouldn't leave any of you, and I'm not leaving Marjorie, either!"
[20:01] <Alveria> "You almost died BEFORE if it wasn't for me because you thought you had the right idea, and you're going to get killed HERE! Furthermore-" She points at Puk'Lor- "What about HIM?"
[20:02] <Alveria> "I need to be touching them to save them! We're not stopping losses, here- we're cutting them! That's the best we can hope for!"
[20:02] * Amonet considers. "You are right. I'll help you get Puk'lor away."
[20:03] <Ebiris> OOC: since I presume Alvie's holding now until Amonet brings the monk over, fort save, Amonet?
[20:03] <Amonet> roll 1d20+16
[20:03] <Ebiris> roll 5d6
[20:03] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+16 and gets 17." [1d20=1]
[20:03] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 5d6 and gets 18." [5d6=1, 6, 2, 4, 5]
[20:04] <Ebiris> Amonet staggers out of the swarm, covered in biting and snapping rats that have infiltrated her armour, rendering her unable to move to her fullest effectiveness, just barely reaching Puk'lor's twitching body!
[20:05] <Ebiris> As Amonet departs the swarm, Marjorie is heard behind her, seen blinking away the void in her eyes to be replaced by a more normal look. "What, hey, why am I not in the lance anymore?"
[20:07] <Amonet> "Marjorie, I'm sorry! Please come back!" Amonet calls to the ghost, her voice sounding more tired than ever.
[20:07] <Alveria> "That's the result of your 'good feeling'," grunts Alveria. "If you can do anything at all to deal with this bloody rats..."
[20:08] <Amonet> "It's not her fault! It's mine! You always tell me I never think before I leap, and it's all true...."
[20:09] <Ebiris> "Ahh... okay, just don't look at me!" Marjorie pleads, drifting over towards Amonet and putting her back to the party.
[20:09] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+8
[20:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+8 and gets 17." [1d20=9]
[20:09] <Ebiris> roll 2d10
[20:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 2d10 and gets 16." [2d10=9, 7]
[20:09] <Ebiris> roll 1.5*1d4
[20:09] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1.5*1d4 and gets 6." [1d4=4]
[20:10] <Ebiris> *NOOO... YOU.... SQEEAAK! DAMN YOU! WE ARE DIMINISHED!* the rats curse and rage everyone's minds as Marjorie does... whatever it is she's doing. The rats sure seem to hate it, though.
[20:12] <Ebiris> Many of the rats are reduced to twitching wrecks by this, those that aren't slain outright, and the remaining rats seem to be attempting to regroup at the far end of the room...
[20:12] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alvie
[20:12] <Alveria> OOC: *go mephit!
[20:13] <Ebiris> OOC: yes, that
[20:13] <Alveria> The watery mephit throws a blob of acid at the rats, even as Alveria flings a volley of missiles at the pack!
[20:14] <Alveria> roll 1d20+5 touch attack
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+5 touch attack and gets 9." [1d20=4]
[20:14] <Alveria> roll 1d6+5 magic missiles
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d6+5 magic missiles and gets 10." [1d6=5]
[20:14] <Alveria> roll 5d4+5 magic missiles
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 5d4+5 magic missiles and gets 15." [5d4=2, 4, 1, 2, 1]
[20:14] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[20:14] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 5." [1d6=5]
[20:15] <Ebiris> The acid fails to hit any of the rats, while the lightning charged magic missiles do a better job, singing several rats!
[20:16] <Amonet> roll 1d20+6
[20:16] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+6 and gets 21." [1d20=15]
[20:16] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet and Marjorie
[20:17] -> *Amonet* Her corrupting gaze does charisma damage. Hers seems rather more potent than a normal ghost's.
[20:19] * Amonet withdraws a scroll of lesser restoration, preferring to restore their monkly friend while being close enough to protect Marjorie and Alveria should the need arise.
[20:19] <Amonet> roll 1d20+2
[20:19] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+2 and gets 5." [1d20=3]
[20:19] <Amonet> roll 1d4
[20:19] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d4 and gets 2." [1d4=2]
[20:20] <Ebiris> Puk'lor groggily shakes his head as Amonet restores some of the damage her friend inflicted, though he still looks rather out of sorts.
* Retrieving #dunes modes...
[20:20] <Amonet> "Are you alright now, Puk'lor?" Amonet asks him. "Can you stand?"
[20:21] <Ebiris> "I believe so..." the monk gasps, picking himself up and looking towards the remaining rats, before noting Eagan's absence. "Are we retreating?"
[20:22] * Amonet waits on the results from Marjorie's attack before she decides.
[20:23] <Ebiris> Marjorie doesn't seem to be attacking, for the moment.
[20:24] <Alveria> "If we even can. Marjorie! CAN you retreat?"
[20:24] <Ebiris> "I... don't know?" Marjorie replies in a small voice. "I thought I'd get pulled back to the high forest if I ever left the lance... it might be because of that thing," she points to the rift in the centre of the room.
[20:25] <Amonet> "Do you want to try and leave, without going back into the lance?" Amonet asks.
[20:26] <Ebiris> "You go first, I'll cover you!" Marjorie encourages, still keeping her back to the group.
[20:27] <Alveria> Alveria flings another volley of missiles at the rats! "We don't have time, here," she mutters.
[20:28] <Alveria> roll 1d6+5 smile, missile~
[20:28] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d6+5 smile, missile~ and gets 8." [1d6=3]
[20:28] <Alveria> roll 4d4+4
[20:28] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 4d4+4 and gets 14." [4d4=1, 4, 3, 2]
[20:28] <Ebiris> OOC: the rats so go before you, so we'll resolve that after their action
[20:28] <Alveria> OOC: I Was holding, remember?
[20:28] <Alveria> OOC: Talking so doesn't count!
[20:28] <Ebiris> OOC: you so went!
[20:28] <Ebiris> OOC: you shot some magic missiles before Amonet healed Puk'lor!
[20:28] <Alveria> OOC: Oh. Sorry!
[20:28] <Ebiris> OOC: it's only halfway up the page!
[20:28] <Alveria> OOC: NEver mind that then.
[20:29] <Alveria> OOC: I was thinking a round behind.
[20:29] <Alveria> OOC: Carry on~
[20:29] <Ebiris> As the party discusses, the reformed lesser hivemind braves Marjorie's unholy gaze to advance forward, again bombarding the party with horrific mental sensations and images even as Marjorie turns her attention on them!
[20:29] <Ebiris> OOC: will saves, all
[20:30] <Amonet> roll 1d20+15
[20:30] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+15 and gets 31." [1d20=16]
[20:30] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+10 monk
[20:30] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+10 monk and gets 12." [1d20=2]
[20:30] <Alveria> roll 1d20+6 ah, this will be when *I* fail and get stunraped
[20:30] * Hatbot --> "Alveria rolls 1d20+6 ah, this will be when *I* fail and get stunraped and gets 22." [1d20=16]
[20:30] <Alveria> OOC: Or not! Geez.
[20:30] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6 ghost
[20:30] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 ghost and gets 17." [1d20=11]
[20:30] <Ebiris> roll 3d4
[20:30] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 3d4 and gets 10." [3d4=4, 3, 3]
[20:31] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6
[20:31] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 and gets 25." [1d20=19]
[20:31] <Ebiris> Puk'lor drops his weapon as he's stunned by the psychic attack, while the rats seem undeterred by Marjorie's evil eye!
[20:32] <Ebiris> OOC: Alvie, want to use the magic missile from before or do something else?
[20:32] <Alveria> OOC: Does Keylin get better yet?
[20:32] <Alveria> OOC: Right after me, right?
[20:32] <Alveria> OOC: Ah, screw it, I'll MM them again
[20:32] <Alveria> OOC: Just as before
[20:33] <Alveria> OOC: No need to reroll, right?
[20:34] <Ebiris> OOC: nah
[20:34] <Ebiris> roll 1d6
[20:34] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d6 and gets 6." [1d6=6]
[20:34] <Ebiris> The crackling magic missiles blast through the swarm, tearing apart several rats on their gruesome journey! Already the swarm seems to be flagging, its numbers now greatly diminished!
[20:35] <Ebiris> OOC: Go... KEYLIN
[20:35] <Alveria> "I'm all out," reports Alveria.
[20:37] <Gourash> Keylin opened her eyes anew, her senses restored as she shook off the horror of the hivemind, reacting with swiftness as she lifted her bow once more and let loose into the horde.
[20:37] <Gourash> roll 1d20+7
[20:37] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+7 and gets 16." [1d20=9]
[20:37] <Gourash> roll 1d20+7
[20:38] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+7 and gets 22." [1d20=15]
[20:38] <Gourash> roll 1d20+2
[20:38] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+2 and gets 3." [1d20=1]
[20:38] <Gourash> roll 1d20+2 Crit fail
[20:38] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+2 Crit fail and gets 14." [1d20=12]
[20:38] <Ebiris> OOC: two hits, one normal miss
[20:38] <Gourash> roll 1d6
[20:38] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d6  and gets 5." [1d6=5]
[20:38] <Gourash> roll 1d6
[20:38] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d6  and gets 4." [1d6=4]
[20:39] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Amonet and Marjorie
[20:39] <Amonet> "If we're retreating, then I'll help you cover everyone, Marjorie!" Amonet says with determination, her lance flashing blindingly as she becomes the sun in the rat swarm's midst!
[20:39] <Amonet> roll 1d20+13
[20:39] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+13 and gets 32." [1d20=19]
[20:39] <Amonet> roll 1d20+13
[20:39] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+13 and gets 14." [1d20=1]
[20:39] <Amonet> roll 1d20+8
[20:39] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+8 and gets 19." [1d20=11]
[20:39] <Ebiris> OOC: two hits
[20:40] <Ebiris> OOC: and critfail check
[20:40] <Amonet> roll 2d8+16+4d6 holy~
[20:40] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 2d8+16+4d6 holy~ and gets 43." [2d8=3, 3][4d6=6, 6, 6, 3]
[20:40] <Amonet> roll 1d20+13 will I fail?
[20:40] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+13 will I fail? and gets 19." [1d20=6]
[20:40] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+10
[20:40] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+10 and gets 11." [1d20=1]
[20:41] <Ebiris> roll 8d6
[20:41] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 8d6 and gets 40." [8d6=6, 5, 6, 5, 6, 5, 3, 4]
[20:42] <Ebiris> Amonet finds to her horror that the lance does not flare with holy power upon impact, only managing to skewer two rats with her attacks and nothing more! It even feels clumsier in her grasp, not at all the finely enchanted weapon of justice she's used to!
[20:43] <Ebiris> Marjorie has better luck, however, thrusting a hand towards the swarm as they're suddenly blasted back against the far wall, many of the rats squashed and crushed on impact!
[20:44] <Ebiris> *SQUEEAK... NO... TOO STRONG! MERCY, PLEASE!* the mental voice of the remaining rats plead, far less strongly than the previous mental intrusions as the swarm is all but broken, only a few score of rats left.
[20:45] <Ebiris> OOC: Go Alviebot
[20:46] <Amonet> OOC: Alvie will teleport people away if it gets bad
[20:46] <Gourash> Alveria, spent in her magic, waits near the back, not loudly commenting she's down to her last teleport, but ready to get out of there whenever needed.
[20:46] <Ebiris> OOC: you have your enemy begging for mercy. Things aren't likely to get bad at this point.
[20:48] <Gourash> OOC: She's waiting anyway, key's turn thene?
[20:48] <Ebiris> OOC: yes
[20:48] <Gourash> Keylin, still feeling the pain of the mental intrusion, wasn't prone to showing mercy, her bow flashing against with swift magical fire.
[20:48] <Gourash> roll 1d20+7
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+7 and gets 23." [1d20=16]
[20:48] <Gourash> roll 1d20+7
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+7 and gets 10." [1d20=3]
[20:48] <Gourash> roll 1d20+2
[20:48] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+2 and gets 15." [1d20=13]
[20:49] <Ebiris> Shooting off several more arrows, Keylin finishes off the last of the rats, uncaring of their mental cries for mercy until they are finally silenced, exterminating every last one of the hiveminded vermin.

With the rats slain, the party is able to regroup. However, the negative energy rift still remains, giving goosebumps to the living even at a distance. The lance of radiance appears to have had its power temporarily suppressed - detect magic reveals the enchantment is still there, but there's no telling when it'll reassert itself - if ever. For her part, Marjorie appears to be free to move as she likes, within the necropolis. The wardings prevent her from leaving, however.

With no opposition readily apparent, you guys basically have the run of the place, so the ball's in your court.

Proposing rest + new spells, because really, it's either that or Puk'lor plane shifting us out of the seal, if he can.

On my side, one lesser restoration to help Puk'lor, one identify on the cloak (from a safe distance from the others), some DM to glance at the rift and assist Alvie with that if she's interested in taking a look.

The cloak is identified (see first post).

Make a spellcraft check if you're looking at the rift.

Also, Resist Planar Alignment (SC, p174) is my new best friend! I'll pray for two of them.

Spellcraft:
[23:32] <Amonet> roll 1d20+5
[23:32] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d20+5 and gets 15." [1d20=10]

[23:34] <Amonet> roll 1d4 Puk'lor
[23:34] * Hatbot --> "Amonet rolls 1d4 Puk'lor and gets 4." [1d4=4]

That's what the memorised spells thread is for!

As for the rift, Amonet cannot identify the magic involved, only tell that it is very strong.

[21:39] <Ebiris> Gourash finds himself alone in the chamber of the hivemind, the party watching from a safe distance way down the corridor. He's currently a safe distance from the mind-bending tear in the fabric of reality that spews out negative energy, perhaps wondering that if he'd maybe had a better education, he wouldn't be predisposed towards getting into these sorts of situations...
[21:42] * Gourash lacking said education, took the mace with both hands.  It was just a whirling vortex of negativity and the others were sure that it could be torn apart.  Either way, he owed the damn thing after all that nastiness with the rats.  Bringing down the mace across the tear with all his strength, he struck at it.
[21:42] <Ebiris> OOC: fort save
[21:43] <Gourash> roll 1d20+8 (+2 if undead)
[21:43] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+8 (+2 if undead) and gets 15." [1d20=7]
[21:43] <Ebiris> Gourash feels the vortex leaching away at his life-force, but he resists, undeterred as he attacks!
[21:44] <Ebiris> OOC: won't bother rolling to hit/damage, it's all about the 1d100 here
[21:44] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[21:44] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 23." [1d100=23]
[21:44] <Ebiris> The rift briefly shimmers with light as its struck, but retains coherence!
[21:49] * Gourash rages attempting to send the rift into nonexistance with the mace!
[21:49] <Ebiris> OOC: fort save again
[21:49] <Gourash> roll 1d20+8+4 (+2 if undead)
[21:49] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+8+4 (+2 if undead) and gets 23." [1d20=11]
[21:49] <Gourash> roll 1d20+8+4 (+2 if undead) If I need to make two
[21:49] * Hatbot --> "Gourash rolls 1d20+8+4 (+2 if undead) If I need to make two and gets 32." [1d20=20]
[21:49] <Ebiris> As he rages, Gourash becomes heedless of the negative energy reaching out to him, unharmed in the least as he swipes at the planar rift!
[21:50] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[21:50] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 81." [1d100=81]
[21:50] <Gourash> (Actually +2 more)
[21:50] <Ebiris> roll 1d100
[21:50] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d100 and gets 7." [1d100=7]
[21:50] <Gourash> (but safe anyway ^^)
[21:50] <Ebiris> roll 1d10
[21:50] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d10 and gets 5." [1d10=5]
[21:51] <Ebiris> There's a thunderous *crack* as the darkness seems to be subsumed into the mace, which suddenly dims and looks slightly tarnished. The rift seemed to shrink for a second there at the same time, but then reformed to its previous size almost instantly.
[22:01] * Gourash retreats!
[22:01] <Ebiris> Gourash is able to move back from the rift with his now dulled mace! The rift remains there, taunting him.
[22:20] <Tsunderella> Eagan decides to try and use Dimensional Anchor on the rift, a safe distance from both it and the others!
[22:21] <Ebiris> OOC: caster level check
[22:21] <Tsunderella> roll 1d20+8
[22:21] * Hatbot --> "Tsunderella rolls 1d20+8 and gets 9." [1d20=1]
[22:22] <Ebiris> The green energy arcs out from Eagan's fingertips... and seems to vanish a few feet from the rift, without effect.
[22:23] <Tsunderella> Eagan next tries to use Remove Curse on Gourash's mace!
[22:25] <Ebiris> It does not appear to have any effect.
[22:25] <Tsunderella> Eagan also tries to analyze the rift!
[22:25] <Tsunderella> roll 1d20+1
[22:25] * Hatbot --> "Tsunderella rolls 1d20+1 and gets 15." [1d20=14]
[22:25] <Tsunderella> OOC: Except he doesn't!
[22:30] <Tsunderella> Eagan tries to use Magic Weapon on Gourash's mace!
[22:32] <Ebiris> The spell works, as far as he can tell.
[22:36] <Tsunderella> Eagan tries to consecrate the area near the rift in Torm's name!
[22:39] <Ebiris> Eagan finds that his consecrate spell does not function, seeming to be washed away by the more powerful energies of the rift.

After Gourash apparently breaks the mace of disruption and Eagan attempts his spells, Alveria makes her spellcraft check on the rift, using various buffs and taking 10 for a result of 30.

She's able to determine the following:

Strongly radiates Conjuration and Necromancy.

The negative energy it radiates would energy drain living beings, while healing undead (Marjorie is able to confirm the latter), and also impose a penalty on turning checks (while boosting rebuke checks).

As best as she can determine, it's a one-way portal from the Negative Energy Plane, albeit the actual portal itself is incredibly tiny, but seems to act as a lens in focusing what energy does come through - the visual manifestation around it is the negative energy leaking out.

As to how it could be wrecked? The disrupting effect of the mace may have stood a chance, but instead it got overwhelmed by the negative energy and temporarily broken - positive energy basically has a chance of 'clogging up' the portal, but it needs to be either intensely focused (like the mace) or extremely powerful in order to have a chance of equalising with the negative energy output of the rift.

A high powered dispel magic might have a chance as well, and Mage's Disjunction is of course the be all and end all of such things.

Once everyone, Marjorie especially, are sufficiently far away, Eagan bravely casts Bear's Endurance on himself and approaches the rift, intent on using his most powerful positive energy spell, Cure Critical Wounds, directly on it!

[22:42] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+6 Eagan's fort save
[22:42] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+6 Eagan's fort save and gets 20." [1d20=14]
[22:42] <Ebiris> roll 1d20+8
[22:42] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 1d20+8 and gets 10." [1d20=2]
[22:43] <Ebiris> roll 2d8
[22:43] * Hatbot --> "Ebiris rolls 2d8 and gets 3." [2d8=2, 1]

Eagan finds that touching the rift is a bad idea, even if he did avoid being level drained, taking 3hp of negative energy damage. His healing spell didn't seem to have any effect.

His dispel fu doesn't seem strong enough.

Eagan can try twice more, and by Torm, he will do so!

The portal actually wavered on the first dispel, but stabilised after a minute or so.

[18:24] * Hatbot --> "Alicia rolls 1d20+8 CL check for Eagan and gets 11." [1d20=3]

As requested, Eagan casts restoration on the mace. If anyone has detect magic on at this point, they see its magical aura flare briefly as if about to reassert itself, before being suppressed again.

[18:21] <Carthrat> roll 1d6+5
[18:21] * Hatbot --> "Carthrat rolls 1d6+5 and gets 11." [1d6=6]

[18:22] * Hatbot --> "Carthrat rolls 1d20+6 for the sav- what  and gets 23." [1d20=17]

Also, Eagan is attempting to dispel the rift, Alveria gets pinged as she passes a will save.

[15:23] <Ebiris> Casting her dimension door spell, Alveria has a better time of it, this time around, as the surroundings of the crypt vanish from around her and Amonet, before they reappear outside! Behind them stand the same doors to the Necropolis, sealed with potently glowing divine runes, the structure itself a massively towering edifice of black stone, bedecked with blocky pillars and statues of Githzerai.
[15:23] <Ebiris> Before them, they can see a narrowly twisting path floating over the grey void that replaces the sky in Limbo, leading down to Bin'saptor itself. The Githzerai city seems to be built over a gigantic corkscrew of rock, covered in buildings that jut out from all angles, the roofs of buildings hanging down from one section scraping against the roofs of those jutting up from the one below.
[15:23] <Ebiris> Stairs and walkways connect the various levels of the corkscrew, seeming to conform to no particular set gravity as they twist and branch off one another at indeterminate angles - even from a distance, you can see that the inhabitants walk along both sides of the walkways seen, above and below as if it's the most natural thing in the world.
[15:23] <Ebiris> Aside from the branch you're on, containing the Necropolis, several others are seen stretching off from the city, some holding mushroom farms, others with large mansions and other, more solid and defensive looking, structures.
[15:23] <Ebiris> Apart from the city, the sky itself is mostly a violently roiling soup of grey that inspires faint vertigo if looked at directly with no frame of reference. A giant firestorm seems to obscure a good portion of the sky directly above you, but it's difficult to tell exactly how far away it is, only that it seems to be moving slowly past the city.
[15:23] <Ebiris> *her and Amonet and Gourash <-- edit in the first line
[15:26] <Amonet> "Let's go find someone in the city, then," Amonet suggests.
[15:26] <Alveria> "Evermeet's prettier," grunts Alveria, starting to trudge down the obvious path, looking for someone to talk to. Though, soon enough, she expects, people will be looking at them.
[15:28] <Gourash> "Gourash think if we get lost here, we never find our way out," He commented, keeping pace with them.
[15:28] <Alveria> "You're probably right. You can't exactly just keep to the right wall in this maze."
[15:29] <Amonet> "Surely the residents would know where their own necropolis is," Amonet suggests.
[15:29] <Alveria> "Do you know where YOUR home cities necropolis is?"
[15:30] <Amonet> "Yes."
[15:30] <Alveria> "I guess they are, like, 800-foot-tall pyramids, or whatever," mumbles Alveria, trying to catch the eye of some passing resident.
[15:31] <Ebiris> The path takes longer than expected to traverse - perspective somehow seems off, here, making distances difficult to gauge. Nonetheless, you soon reach the beginnings of the city itself, as the path climbs up almost vertically onto the corkscrew above. The buildings here are packed fairly tightly, seeming to universally be houses, with a few cloth-covered market stalls dotted here and there.
[15:31] <Ebiris> Every person seen is universally a Githzerai, and many do indeed turn to stare curiously at the outlandish new arrivals.
[15:32] <Alveria> Alveria approaches one at random, not looking particularly thrilled to be here; "Hello. We were locked in the necropolis. Would you be able to direct us to someone who knows what's going on in there?"
[15:36] <Ebiris> "Locked in there? How did you survive?" the old(? - it's hard to tell with Gith) Githzerai man asks, his narrow eyes managing to widen enough to look almost human. "Something wicked in there," he shivers. "They had to get clerics of Kelemvor to seal it to protect the city from what was coming out."
[15:37] <Alveria> "Well, we had a Zerth with us," replies Alveria, fidgeting. "I'm a mage, and I couldn't bring all of us out at once, so I came looking for help. The seals are.. quite strong, yes."
[15:37] <Amonet> "Shouldn't it be safe to enter the grounds, now?" Amonet asks. "In that case, perhaps the same clerics could bring the wards down again, and restore the peace."
[15:38] <Alveria> "We didn't exactly stop the source of the problem," remarks Alveria, dryly. "Though we probably could, given time."
[15:38] <Ebiris> "Something wicked in there," the old Gith nods as he repeats himself, "They couldn't get rid of whatever it was, that's why they had to seal it... What did you see?" he asks, squinting at Amonet.
[15:39] <Amonet> "An evil swarm of evil undead rats, and more undead creatures," she responds, "but they're no longer around."
[15:43] <Gourash> "And some..tear?" He shrugged, looking at alvie for the correct terms.
[15:45] <Alveria> "Yes, a tear between this plane and another. I'd like to talk to someone who knows the details of the problem," replies Alveria. "We might be able to fix it, or at least I'd know for sure it's going to take a few days to get everyone out without breaking the wards."
[15:48] <Ebiris> "You'll want to speak to the High Council about this," the old Gith nods, "The outsider priests have gone now, but the Council will know what to do - head downspire," he points above himself, oddly enough, "Till you reach the middle of the city."
[15:48] <Ebiris> "Their chambers are the big pyramid building with the silver pillars out front." Looking up, you think you can see where he means - it's upside down, relative to where you are, on the far side of the corkscrew and several rotations above.
[15:50] * Gourash nods.  Looking to see if there is a ground path to it...or whether they need to just focus it as ground.
[15:51] <Ebiris> If you were to 'fall' that far, it would probably be lethal. But there are numerous criss-crossing paths through the middle of the corkscrew and linking the various levels. It shouldn't be too hard to find a more or less direct path to it, rather than working your way all around the corkscrew for several circuits.
[15:51] <Alveria> "My thanks," replies Alveria, sketching a bow and starting to wind her way towards the council office, one step/leap/flight after another.
[15:51] * Amonet thanks the man as well, and follows Alveria cautiously.
[15:52] * Gourash follows them, shrugging and trying not to think of how they were doing it.  It'd probably give him a headache.
[15:56] <Ebiris> The trio attract a fair bit of attention from the natives, but no one sees fit to get in your way, and before long you reach the council chambers. It's a wide two-storey box with a four-storey pyramid tapering to a point above it, made out of some type of greyish white stone that's been inset with a silvery metal here and there - a row of solid silver pillars surround the front of the building, before the great doors leading inside.
[15:56] <Ebiris> Various Githzerai come and go from the edifice, suggesting that it's open to the public, although a few armed guards are seen here and there, wearing light armour and carrying spears. They seem to be paying more attention to you than anyone else.
[15:57] <Alveria> Everyone else is doing it! Alveria wlaks right on inside.
[15:57] <Alveria> *walks
[15:57] * Amonet follows with a bow at the guards.
[15:57] <Gourash> "We should ask who to talk to," Gourash suggested as they pass the guards.
[15:59] <Alveria> "There'll be a clerk or something."
[16:00] <Ebiris> The guards don't make any effort to stop you, and one even returns Amonet's bow. Inside you find a large hallway with several staircases rising up to the upper level, and more doors seen branching off here and there.
[16:00] <Ebiris> A fairly obvious reception desk is seen near the entrance, manned by a line of harried looking Gith - fortunately not all are currently occupied, so you could just march right up to one of them and start talking - it's what the other Gith are doing, after all.
[16:01] <Alveria> Alveria does as the Gith do. "Hello, we'd like to talk to someone who can tell us about the necropolis," she states. "We got thrown in there by a portal and just managed to get out."
[16:06] <Ebiris> "By Zerthimmnon, how did you survive?" the Githzerai woman gasps, staring at the trio for a long moment before shaking her head as if to clear it. "Anyway, you'll want to speak with Minister Deakin about this - she was having a horrible time with what happened, and we all knew that seal was only temporary. Let me just check to see if she's available?"
[16:06] <Ebiris> With that she goes to a cabinet behind the reception desk and searches for a ledger, before beginning to flip through it.
[16:07] <Alveria> Alveria shrugs, and whispers to Amonet. "We must really not look as tough as we are, eh? Eh?"
[16:08] <Amonet> "Yes, it seems like it," Amonet agrees, considering.
[16:10] <Ebiris> After a moment, the receptionist looks up, "Minister Deakin is in a meeting for the next half hour, but will be available after that. If you'd like to wait," she gestures over to one corner of the hall filled with chairs bearing sullen and bored looking Githzerai (and a single out of place dwarf), "I'll send someone to collect you once she's free?"
[16:11] <Amonet> "We are not really here to sightsee, so how about waiting?" Amonet proposes to Alveria and Gourash.
[16:12] <Alveria> Alveria shrugs. "Sounds good. I'll take a nap."
[16:17] <Ebiris> And so a short time later, the party is called by a crisply attired Githzerai servant who asks them to follow him. Led up the stairs, they're taken into a large conference room where another Githzerai waits - she looks almost like an elf with yellow skin, none of the stretched facial features or wrinkles that characterise most Gith.
[16:17] <Ebiris> "Greetings, I am minister Deakin," she carols melodiously - she even sounds like an elf. "I have been told you have information about our problem with the Necropolis?"
[16:20] <Alveria> Looks like an elf.. SOUNDS like an elf... "Yes, we found ourselves inside it, and after several vicious battles against the.. residents, we managed to clear it out, find the door, and teleport ourselves through. But it was hard work, and a few of our companions are still within- a zerth among them. Furthermore, while we located a rift to the negative energy plane, we didn't have the time or resources to really deal with it."
[16:21] <Amonet> "Was this rift why you had the necropolis sealed off?" Amonet queries, once Alveria gives her explanation.
[16:22] <Ebiris> Deakin nods understandingly. "So it was for us - no matter how many undead were put down, the rift just animates more. Even when we called in outside assistance from the priests of Kelemvor, they were only able to deal with the symptoms, not the cause. The gates have been sealed until a more permanent solution can be found, but we can open them briefly to let your companions out."
[16:27] <Alveria> "I'd appreciate that. We didn't expect the portal from Xaos to lock us in there," admits Alveria, wiping her brow.
[16:28] <Ebiris> "Xaos..." Deakin furrows her brow a moment. "Odd, we haven't had any travellers come from there in some time, and the first that do appear amongst the dead. It is an ill omen."
[16:29] <Alveria> "A devil was ruling it until quite recently," remarks Alveria.
[16:29] <Amonet> "Maybe it was actually a sign to alert us to the problem, so that we could help resolve it when we gain the ability to do so?" Amonet muses out loud. "In that case, it wouldn't be an ill omen at all...."
[16:30] <Alveria> "Let's hope such signs don't nearly kill us all in the future."
[16:30] <Amonet> "Yes, that would be most welcome," Amonet readily agrees.
[16:31] <Ebiris> "Maybe you're right!" Deakin claps her hands cheerfully at Amonet's words, seemingly ignoring Alveria's dark mutterings. "After all, when faced with the horrors of the negative energy plane, it does a person good to stay positive!"
[16:32] <Amonet> "What would need to happen before our friends could be freed from the necropolis?" Amonet politely asks.
[16:37] <Ebiris> "I'll have some warriors gathered just in case anything else tries to get out, and then we'll go up there and have the gate seal opened long enough for your friends to exit, and then we'll reseal it," Deakin nods, proceeding to scribble something on a sheaf of parchment and then hand it to the servant who led you here, "Deliver that to Abo'tsong, please?" she asks.
[16:37] <Ebiris> Turning back to the group, she goes on, "Everything should be ready in an hour or so - you can wait downstairs or meet us at the Necropolis, whichever you prefer."
[16:39] <Alveria> "Alright. Would you have a few more moments, actually? We did have business in this city, even if we've been rather sidetracked."
[16:40] <Ebiris> "Oh?" Deakin looks at Alveria attentively. "My jurisdiction only really extends to the dead, but go on?"
[16:43] <Alveria> "Well, it's a rather tall story, but the Zerth who has accompanied me can verify it. We're on our way to Shrak'Tor.. we're, uh, in possession of the essence of one of the kharach blades, which we'd like to return." -more
[16:44] <Alveria> "But, uh, the Githyanki also want it, and they've been hounding us for quite some time as we've tried to get here. I'd be interested if there's any way to hasten our journey, or if there are any caravans or the like that travel to the monastery- if we can't speed it up, better defences against those fiends would be in the best interests of everyone."
[16:45] * Gourash stood nearby, listening and fidgeting a bit as Alveria and Amonet talked.
[16:45] <Ebiris> "Oooh, a karach blade?!" Deakin's eyes light up brightly as she leans forward. "Can I see?"
[16:47] <Alveria> "Um, no. It's not the blade itself, just the chaotic, magical enchantment," replies Alveria, shaking her head. "It'd be a bad idea to expose it to open air, for reasons that, uh, will become clear once my friends are released."
[16:48] <Amonet> "That's... as good a way of putting it as any, I suppose."
[16:49] <Ebiris> "Oh," the Gith woman looks disappointed. "Well, I suppose I can ask around to see if anyone's headed that way - those things are treasures of the People, after all."
[16:50] <Alveria> "Please, that would be quite helpful."
