In the legends of the Lastlands, a long storied tale is told. Past the pinnacle of the edge of the world lies a castle shrouded in lore, the Keep of Lord German. His power is vast, and further, his throne room is the gateway to the Halls of Fate. In this storied hall is the world's most talked of dungeon, said to be filled with riches and ruin, life and death, fortune and failure. With those tales, many attempt to reach that castle and the trials underneath. That many includes a special orc and monk...
---
Long were your travels, but at last you stand at your goal! The legendary throne of Lord German, the regal lord of this castle and dungeon! His welcoming words boom as you arrive in his decorated throne room, "Welcome! You who seek the deepest dungeon of them all, the most ancient of caves, the abyss, the shrine of chaos. Great rewards and great death await you, but fear not. Should you fall in your journey, I will be glad to resurrect you for a small price. Or should you need depetrification, depolymorph, poison removal, limb regeneration, sanity recovery, curse lifting...oh, I'll be here to help!" You can swear his eyes gleam like gold coins at those words; curious. As he speaks, a part of the wall behind his throne moves, revealing a dark passage.
"You can get started now or ask questions," he goes on, a little brown goatee and short hair. A gold crown and king's robe rest on his body.

OOC: Okay, you guys are up. A few requests:
1. When you do an action that involves a skill, stat, item, spell or whatever, note the relevant information at the bottom of your post.
2. If you think I've made a mistake, post about it ASAP. I won't rewind if you catch it a few days down the line, but if you catch it right off I'll be glad to adjust for whatever the error was.
3. Dicerolling will be done in #elysium or #dunes. I'll do the rolling, feel free to check logs for them. I'll post all roll results; if you miss a roll I'll be glad to send you the log chuck where I did it on request.
4. Have fun and try not to die.
Stepping in and past the muscle bound brutes, the smelly mages and the swarthy rogues, Ayane favored the king with a dazzling smile. Her weapons were hidden somewhere on her as she inquired of the king, "The shrine of chaos? I've heard this dungeon is long and deep beyond measure, but what gives it such a name? And what can you tell us about this dungeon?" She had little use for kings, her eyes cunning despite the naive tones of her questions, but charm was ever among her weapons.
"Krog just want to know if Krog's cart can come with him," the brutish looking, if fairly well dressed half-orc mentioned from besides the human girl besides him. "Krog no like leave things behind..." he says, with a mournful tone, particularly looking at the barrels filled with ale in his cart.
Ayane glances over at the voice..and when finding an armored tree standing beside her looks up at the strange exceedingly tall fellow. A half orc? What a strange way of speaking.
"One of many superlatives for the dungeon. I assure you that you'll find your own fitting names for it in time. The ones that named as such were so bland and boring, actually. A knight, a martial artist," King German raises his eyebrow at Ayane, but continues on, "A healer and a spellcaster. Still, they did have persistence...and oh yes, barrels. Lots of barrels full of healing potion..." King German trails off, attention flitting towards Krog.
"Yes, yes, Bring Your Own Cart is a tenet. It's useful for all sorts of things. Carrying treasure, items, creatures, bodies..." Ticking off from his fingers, "Ah well, do have fun in there."
"Must not have been very good then," She smirked, crossing her arms over her chest. "I suppose this is the only exit, King German?" She tapped her foot, ready to be off, but at least she should ask that.
"You mean entrance...or wait, it would be an exit on the way out.." So he ponders, amused. "But it matters little. Yes, it is the only direct entrance. However, every so often a group will just appear here out of thin air! It's quite vexing when your dinner is interrupted by acid scarred heroes demanding their leader girl be resurrected." Scowling, "Chicken Kiev ruined over 'You have to restore her wings! NOW!' I tell you, some adventurers have no tact or patience. It's not as if her skull would become any more disintegrated by acid if she waited a few minutes for me to finish. Hmph."
Ayane laughed gently at that. "I see... well then, may your dinner go uninterrupted."
The young lady turned, heading for the entrance and beginning her journey down into the dungeon.
Krog grabs his cart, and starts pulling it into the entrance. "Little human one! You wish Krog travel with you?" he calls out to Ayane, attempting to make a new friend, and perhaps a customer for his book series.
Glancing back, she looked over him, taking in the clear strength. A brute... but a brute who would carry things clearly. With a cheerful smile, she nodded back. "Okay, sure, if you can keep up and carry things." She turned, continuing forward with a graceful sway.
Krog laughed. "Good! Good! But first we seal friendship over drinks!" the half orc insists, as he stops his cart and sets it to rest on the ground before he pulls out two battered mugs, and reaches for one of the sealed barrels in his cart. A short while later, he plops onto the ground besides his cart, and pats the ground besides him, holding two mugs with liquid in his other hand. "Come! Drink! Talk! Krog learn about little human one! Little human learn about Krog!"
"A drink...before fighting?" She took it, giving a slight sniff, a blink...then a sip. "Where did you get something like this?" More than a touch surprised at the orc. "I didn't know orcs had a taste for good liquor." She didn't sit, drinking and leaning against the side of the wall.
Down the hall, the two can see that the passage inside is of plain gray masonry. Bits of moisture and mold clings to the wall, a sharp slope down for 50 feet before the bottom can be seen. You can glimpse a sandy bottom. Nothing of notice - yet. It's almost peaceful here, if one ignores the scent of dungeon as they drink.
"Many no know many things about orc ways. Or way of life in general. For low, low price of 14 gold, and 9 silver, and 5 copper, Krog share secrets of universe as he learn them..." Krog said in a solemn tone, as he pulled out a book, before looking sheepish, and holding the book nervously.
"Krog friend said that low, low price, but Krog no quite get it. Krog want say just 15 gold, or even 14 gold, Krog think less confusing, but Krog friend insist he right. Krog friend right somehow, but Krog no get. But at least teach Krog good lesson for 2nd book in series...expect to come out in stores some time 6 no moons from now."
Krog shook his head, and rubbed the back of his head as he handed the book to her. "Quick look! Quick look! See what think and if want! Buy!" he insisted as he pushed the book, titled "The Rules of Krog Wisefang: The First Twenty".
He starts guzzling down his own drink while holding out the book expectantly for the human girl in his other hand.
She looked at him...and laughed. "Krog Wisefang? A writer? How about this, if you accompany me through to the bottom of this, I will buy both books...for 30 gold each," She smiled back, shifting from mocking to cunning in an instant.
Krog's eyes widened before he grinned toothily. "As long as little human one understand that Krog still want half of what find, Krog throw in bonus for little human one with big purse! Krog use special Krog magic and save little human one as many times as little human one need!"
Krog paused and looked over the girl's appearance briefly, before nodding seriously, as if deciding he's definitely doing Ayane a big favor, and expects to be saving her life many, many times.
Sixty was a cheap bodyguard. A little...well, more than a little touched in the head, but no matter. "That sounds fair. You can have all the really heavy stuff, for such a brave..strong fellow," She half teased half flirted...and then headed along. Brutes were easy to deal with. Her feet smoothly flowed over the sharp slope with the greatest of ease as she headed down, stopping before the sand and listening, looking over the route ahead.
OOC:
Balance is 7, listen 12, spot 17 as needed.
Krog shook his head, and let the little human lead for now. The girl hadn't even really looked at the first book, he thought as he put the book away, feeling a little mournful. Rule 1 was the most important one after all, she should at least have looked at it.
Krog think important have meatbag to take first hit. Krog save meatbag and know what to hit before Krog get hit. was written in both common and orc'ish underneath pictures he'd made of his first adventure, where the book's first four pages were dedicated to images of Krog joining an adventuring party, adventuring party triggering trap, Krog healing friends, and Krog smashing trap.
"Krog hope have enough Krog special magic for little human one..." he muttered under his breath in orc'ish as he watched Ayane.
Hopefully the girl was capable in her own ways, whatever they might be (though Krog was very certain, at least, that strength was not one of them). Krog knew he wasn't very smart, and he couldn't say if he made a good deal or a bad deal in terms of money, but in terms of survival, it was surely a good one. Because if you didn't survive, who would share the glory and wisdom of life with everyone else?

Sorry, Krog.
Ayane travels down the hill! It's a little steeper than she imagines and she slips a bit. While it's not so abject a failure as to go tumbling down, she does bang her knee. (1 point of damage.) On recovering from that, she notes that the slope has a few slightly jagged stones, like little tripstones on the slope. Not too hard to avoid if one knows they are there. Ayane feels as if it shouldn't be a problem a second time now that she knows to look out for them.
Speaking of those, Krog trips on one! Unlike Ayane he' s considerably off balance, rolling down the hill in a mess! Thunk! Clunk! Splash! His cart rolls down with him, but luck is on Krog's side. It doesn't tip, instead just splashing the ale around. (4 damage.)
At the bottom, you come to a large circular room, the slope coming down on the western side. There's a plain single door to the east, an iron door and pull ring to the north, and an arched stone portal to the south. The latter's dark, the other two have burning torches near the doors, on wall holders.
"You okay?" She eyed the lug, and pulled him to his feet, hiding her own slight accident as if it'd never happened.
"Keep your feet under you," She remarked, testing the sand with a foot.
The sand is soft and firm. On a quick guess, there's a foot or so of loosely packed sand atop the ground in this room.
Ayane walked over it and headed east, examining the plain door briefly before opening it and looking into the next room.
Do you mean that to be a search check or just generically looking the door over, Ayane?
just looking it over
Across the door handle is a sigil - of a red eagle soaring over a white river. The door opens smoothly, and inside looks to be a plain square room. However, it is bisected by a heavy wooden defensive barrier, with spiked wooded stakes jutting out from each side. Little walls of wood rise up from it, perfect places for an archer to be. Strangely, however, you do not see a single soul ahead. Past all this, you can see a narrow hallway leading deeper in past this.
It doesn't look too difficult to cross if one isn't disturbed. It's only four feet tall save for the archery stands and the spikes have bits of space between them.
Ayane walks over to them, cautious and ready for some something to be hidden behind there. Casually leaping over it, she turns quickly on her heels to see if anything was indeed behind it.
OOC:
Jump 15
Krog scowls. "Krog fine. No happy Krog fall, but thank little human one for concern."
Krog looks around to see if there's anything else besides that one door and the portal around.
Ayane finds out that the battlements are abandoned. She sees no one of interest, just the door ahead awaiting.
Krog sees that there are -two- doors at the sandy bottom as well as the arched stone way. Ayane opened the plain door, the metal door with a pullring awaits, as does the dark stoneway. In the room Ayane is in, there is a single door ahead past all the battlements.
"This way is clear," Ayane called back, slowly walking down the way. "Come on. You're not doing a good job at selling your books."
"Krog still alive. Krog is clumsy and not smart, but Krog survive many fights. Why that, little human one? Krog no believe in luck. Only strength no keep Krog alive," Krog replied with a hurt sniffle, as he tried to explain himself, though that looks to be all he says on the matter for now as he checks his cart for further damage and making sure everything is secure before lumbering after Ayane.
Ayane waits a bit for the strange half-orc, stopping midhallway until he catches up. "You are a strange one," She admitted, somewhat caught off guard by his straightforward demeanor.
Krog finds his cart is unhurt. Just a bit of ale was spilled. Damn.
Past another wooden door, you find anarrow hallway. It's only about three feet wide, just narrow enough for Krog and Ayane to wiggle through without difficulty. It goes on about thirty feet, torches on both ends of the hall. At the far end is another wooden door.
"Krog have heard that before. Krog think everyone strange at first. Krog no know little human one, only know what Krog see and hear, so little human one is strange to Krog too. Little human one no know Krog either. But we live, we learn. We die...well, Krog no think we learn then..." Krog finishes, a little quietly, before bursting into laughter. "Not that Krog plan to die! No make for good book ending if Krog die!"
As they continue to advance, he asks at the foot to the next hallway, stopping to let the human go in first, "So what little human one good at? Krog is good with inkpen, and Krog is mighty with sword. Krog also have Krog magic!"
"Well, yes... but I've never met anyone like you. It is kind of refreshing. I always heard orcs tended to like the violent heroic death."
Ayane slipped through casually, walking slightly sideways through the passages as she kept going down the passages with Krog, heading to and opening the wood door. "Kind of peaceful, don't you think? I'm good at a lot of things... but I am the best at the Gentle Breeze style of martial arts."

Score.
As the duet wiggles through the hall, they can note the walls are studded with smooth circular holes. You can see that the wall is hollow inside, but you can't see anything inside of note. Ahead in the next room is a table where a mace rests. This table is in the far back, six seats around it. The mace that sits there is bejewelled, glittering with red, green and purple gemstones. Just past the table is another door, this one emblazoned with the logo seen on the first door - of a red eagle over a white stream.
"Hmmm, maybe it wraps around," She looked around the room as she headed inwards. Staying back from the table, she lashed forward with what seemed to be a blue rope, skillfully pulling the mace through the air towards them to catch it in a hand.
OOC: Ranged disarm on the table ...or something :)
Ayane hits the mace! It clatters off the table and into Ayane's hand! As it does, the chairs are suddenly filled! Six knights in armor appear, breastplates and chainmail worn. Surcoats of pure white are worn, of a beautiful stream with a red eagle soaring over it. "Ho, thieves!" they call as one, longswords bravely drawn! "Scoundrels, you will not steal the treasure of the Order of the Red Kingfisher!"
"Oh? Is this yours?" She gestured, shifting into readiness. "Well, apologies, have it back," She flung it at them, readying herself for the inevitable fight that'd cause.
"No, little human one! King-man told Krog and little human one can go in and fetch treasures," Krog cried out to his companion as he retaliated to the comments of thievery by pulling out his sword, and letting his cart drop to the ground. "They is bad men! Bad! Calling Krog and little human one thieves! Little human one must not believe liars in fancy pompy clothes! They no have crown like King-man!"
Krog's voice seemed to have degenerated to a more child-like tone, anger clouding his speech at being called a -thief- of all things. But that was to be expected! Krog is honest businessman! And Krog not one to take insults laying down!
"Krog give liars chance to give up and say sorry to King-man upstairs! Krog teach lesson if Krog must!"
The knights get the mace back, tossed to them. The lead one drops his sword, catching it with an open, blinking face. "...oh. You return it freely, you do indeed have honor. In that-" The surprised monologue is interrupted by Krog, the knight's faces turning red!
"We are not liars, knave!" The knights point swords at Krog, "M'lady, would you step away from this scalawag so that we may teach him the meaning of honor?"
Not too bright, were they? She eyed back at Krog, turning briefly back and forth with her gaze before winking at Krog.
"Certainly, I wouldn't want to interfere with righteous vengeance or anything..." Her skill at keeping a straight face was as good as ever as she stepped towards the knights, seeming as if she'd let them go by her and have at the orc. "I hope you don't mind me passing?"
OOC: As my weapon is already in my hands, I'm entirely planning to make it rather troublesome in a very painful fashion if they charge at him. AoO disarming attacks for all that can~ =) I'll also be fighting defensively. We should probably roll init or whatnot.

Ayane, what's your bluff modifier?
I'm giving you a +5 circumstantial bonus to it, however, so add that in. They want to believe you, but it's still a bluff and not 100%.
"Krog be the one teaching liars lessons! They not even good liars! Everyone know what nave is!" Krog shouts, unfortunately not catching Ayane's subtle wink (and really, what does Krog know of subtlety), pointing at the hub of his cart's wheel. "Krog no wheel! Krog think namby pamby men are too stupid! No know what nave really is -and- think Krog believe they work for king-man! Krog no fooled!"
Krog calls for inner strength as he starts to rage at the indignity of these people calling him a wheel! He wasn't round! He was lean and mean fightin' machine!
"You no have honor like king-man! Try to take king-man's honor! Try to take little human one's honor! Try to take Krog's honor! Krog can see what lying namby pambies try! Krog see with eyes of thousand troops and Krog not think lying namby pamby men -have- honor! Or lying namby pamby men apolo-apolo-say sorry!!"

"For honooooooooooor!" they cry as one, preparing!

Initiative order is Ayane>Krog>Knights. Declare actions in the next post, Ayane.
Ayane, noticing they've seen through her ruse, or at least seem to be prepared, readies herself, her chain subtly swaying near her feet. In a blink it could vanish into a blur of pain, but as she smiled disarmingly at them, she did not approach, staying steadily between the orc and them. As soon as they reach her, her blue 'rope' will begin a blurring spin, striking at their weapon hands almost invisibly while proving truly dangerous to pass through.
OOC:

His body is cut in twain, falling into two neat halves just behind Krog! Material obtained! The other five knights have a look of honest shock on their faces at that display of barbarism! But it's not over yet! Krog rebounds from his stroke, using his oversized sword like a rapier, aiming it at the eye of the second knight!

With a sickening crack a good half of the skull of the knight gives way, his head skewered like a small shrimp on a huge barbie! A second knight falls, dispatched with speed and raw force!
Ayane, taking your held action or holding longer?
While they are distracted, Ayane simply walks towards the knights, keeping them all within the edge of the range of her chain as she lashes out at the nearest one to Krog. While not used to such barbaric manners...she had come out to this place to steel herself as a better martial artist...and being prepared for such things was part of it. Or at least, that's what she told herself.
OOC:
Disarm 18 on that. Hopefully they have to walk through my threatened area to get to Krog, 2 squares on all sides of me.
The knights, while shaken, rally! One of them holds his sword up, "For the White River and the Red Eagle!" he declares, "For the honor of our fallen comrades. Chaaaarge!" With those words, the four knights charge Ayane! But she is a whirlwind, taking advantage!

With whip like reflexes Ayane slices through the surviving knight, cutting him down in front of Krog like ripe wheat! The other three knights, alive but disarmed, look on dismay. "F-fall back!" one of them calls, then another, "Reinforcements! We need reinforcements!" With that, the three retreat to the back door, throwing it open in haste. As they start to scurry through it, you can see what looks to be another wooden barricade ahead, like in a few rooms back. However, this one is manned with spearmen and archers, alert and ready!
Krog, you're up now. Feel free to react/chase/whatever.
"Krog always knew you liars were namby pamby doo doo heads! Krog will tell king-man about you!" the half-orc shouts after the fleeing little human knights, before grinning at Ayane. "See, little human one? Krog say they were fakes! True king tin-men never run!"
"Krog, don't start gloating before they're done..." She raced after them, but noticing the barricade was covered, moved into step right behind one of the knights, using their well plated and fleeing forms as protection.

Hatbot likes to see you suffer. Ow.
Like a whirlwind Ayane ducks and weaves, flying between arrows and using the fleeing knights as an ample shield! After a few weaves, however, one arrow rips by her shoulder, a perfect shot that wounds her! Yet her grace remains, smoothly grasping one arrow by the shaft an inch away from her face and tossing it aside! Were it not for the arrow that embeds into her leg a second later, it would have been almost flawless! Still, the worst of the arrow storm has been completely evaded!
Meanwhile, three dead knights in full plate and with longswords lie in the previous room, as well as a jewelled mace.
Krog's up. Initiative is Krog>Ayane>Knights and barricaders.
Krog sighs as he watches Ayane charge forward. "Krog no think going towards men with pointy launchy things is good idea, little human one!" the half-orc shouts as he lets go of his weapon so he can cast a spell of protection on himself and go help soon.
Magic Vestment, +2AC
So warded by the MIGHT OF KROG, Krog gains a bonus to his defense! Meanwhile, Ayane...
Ayane, you're up.
Ayane winced. Clearly in need of more training if she could get hit so simply. Putting such thoughts to the back of her mind, the graceful monk flipped over the barricade, lashing out with chains as she did so.
OOC: Tumble to avoid AoO opportunities. At 14, I think I automake the roll anyway. +12 on the attack, 2d4+1. Aiming to land 10 feet past, so that they're in chain threat range.
With a backflip that dodges arrows flying about, Ayane lands behind the barrier! She sees she has about fifty feet wide and twenty deep to work with, plenty of space! Straight ahead is a wide, arched hallway, leading into a hall with tapestries, lances and the like. The emblem of a white river and red eagle can be seen all over. To the left side, there's a door as well, wooden and relatively unnotable. However, all this barely matters as Ayane lashes out!

I can use another dicebot, y'know. Geez.
Ayane sidesteps the first, but the second scores something of a hit, slicing her side! Meanwhile, the archers don't move, instead holding vigil and waiting!
What's your HP, Ayane? Initiative is now Krog>Ayane>Spearmen and Knights and Archers with the archers holding. Krog, you're up.
18 hp for ayane
Krog grabs his sword again, and looks to see if there's any spot that he could just rush and breakthrough without causing himself too much damage breaking through the barricade, trusting in his mighty strength to see him through, if such a spot exists.
Krog thinks he could probably break through at a few points between towers. However, it would be risky and he'd be running past several archers that have arrows ready.
With your STR and speed you'd have a decent chance of breaking through the barricade. However, the archers are plainly ready to shoot at the drop of a hat.
Come on, charge Krog. I got the archers =P. +22 disarm AoOs for all archers that fire. =) Up to 5. I think they have less than that many archers.
Six archers.
"KROG TO THE RESCUE!!! CHAAARGE!!!" Krog shouts as he rushes at one of the many weakpoints of the barricades, planning on taking a shot or five (though hopefully none!) as he breaks through the barricades and starts slaughtering people.
Current strength score is 27. Attack modifier is +19. AC is 23.
Ayane, you'll be taking AoOs, yes?

With a horrible rip a spearman is downed, head split in twain! There are several more, including the ones that attack Ayane, however!

Krog is up as well as the archers, but I'll let Krog resolve first since most of them are unarmed now anyway.
Ayane would like cause pain to the brave lancers who left melee with her. 4 attacks at +18 with 2d4+1 damage to each. As we were both threatening each other before, they should've had to leave AoO range for it. or at least some of them might've. :)

They're using spears and have equal reach on you, so I was assuming they were keeping enough distance to not get AoOed if they fall back. Since you're all using reach weapons and you're darting around a lot, I'm inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt here.
Krog attacks the spearman that had a bright idea of calling for reinforcements, planning to not just slice, but slam his sword into the soldier's head, leaving a bloody pulp of brain and crimson matter. Ayane, you're up for various AoOs here, I think. The running archers are prime targets, and you can try the still armed archer, too.
"Tsk, Tsk...not so fun without your bows?" Her spinning chains are as dangerous as ever, flashes of blood leaving painful slicing cuts as they run.

With a stream of blows, Ayane wounds two of the archers considerably! They buckle under the assault, whipped and half broken by a single spiked chain! However, they continue to flee! After that, a quick lashing disables the bowshot of the last, knocking his bow well down! He too turns and runs, the archer corps routed!
Ayane, you're up now.
With a playful grin, Ayane seemed to vanish, appearing further down the corridor, chain spinning as she blocked the corridor ahead.
OOC: AC 26, HP 18. Withdrawing (no AoOs on my square, so if a lancer is still up, no freebie) and moving up to 20 feet past them. My move would be 100 feet, so that should effectively let me cut off those fleeing.
Ayane sprints ahead like a rustle of fall leaves, skin even stained with red patches of beautiful crimson. She darts ahead, blocking the way for the retreating troops! She also gets a slightly better view of what lies ahead. The big hall ends with a large inset metal gate that is now open, an image of a river and eagle over it's center. Past that gate is another room you can't make out, but you can see two figures coming from it, several hundred feet away.
Current initiative is Krog=Archers>Ayane>Spearmen and knights.
Ayane, you intend to block the retreaters as much as possible, yes? Does this include AoOs and attacks?
Yes. Trying to drive them back towards Krog really or at least make it reaallly painful to continue on.
The disarmed and demoralised troops hesitate, caught between a rock and a hard place! They look on in open panic, calling, "Sir Tristain! Lady Morrigan! Help! We are routed!" one of the spearmen shouts past Ayane. In reply to that, a hearty voice is heard from the other end of the hall, loud enough to carry the long distance. "Fiends! Cease your actions straightaway and face us!" the man calls, "The Wrath of the Eagle and River shall fall on you!"
The troops are hesitating a moment. If you're going to react to the called challenge, that will alter things somewhat. If not, I'll move you on. Will you?
"Fiends? I think more than ten on two is enough to change that call... but if you can get past my friend there, I'll let you go," She remarked to the knights, not changing her position.
OOC: Wholeness of body, 16 hp healed. 34 hp.
"Why Krog and little human friend the fiends? You ones who attack! We fight back!"
Krog's dry reply cuts at the challenge, as his expression turns into a jeer. "We fight back much better than namby pamby men, Krog think."
Krog then roars at the hearty voice. "You want fight, then Krog say same thing he tell namby pamby men! If you no want say sorry...Run less! Talk less! Fight more! You no make Krog think you is got honor with how act!"
His speech is very rough, Krog speaking from his heart, rather than putting much thought behind it, merely the feeling of annoyance at how these so called knights keep challenging them to fights as if they were the bad guys.
The soldiers look shaken, frozen in the middle. They start t hang back, taking defensive positions! They look on at the storm of movement and denial that is Ayane, then the fearsome brute that is Krog! Between them, they look to grimly defend themselves!
Soldiers are defending. You're free to attack them or not, obviously, they're not going out of range. If anything, they're pinned down.
Krog, you're up. Initiative is Krog>Ayane>Soldiers(Disarmed and disarrayed)>Two figures 300 feet away.
Krog moves towards the group of knights, and stops just beyond the range of their attacks, grinning down at them, as he raises his sword and starts swinging it above his head, as if adding power for the moment he swings downward, ready to chop every single one of them down from that spot in one strike.
"Krog just want to ask...when sword slash...HOW MANY OF YOU THINK SURVIVE IF STAY WHERE STAND?!?" Krog bellows at them all, the half orc baring his teeth, trying to further throw the group into disarray, almost bored with these so-called knights, but not willing to rush in and destroy them even further unless one of them feels the foolish need to strike at him.
The disarmed warriors look completely shaken up, frozen and staring at Krog in terror! Meanwhile, from far away, the two figures still approach!
Ayane!
"Now now, I didn't say I'd let you go if you stood there..." She walked a step forward, lashing out at the closest one.

Smack! Ayane's retort is a brutal rejoined, knocking this spearman to the floor! After a second chaining, this one has no more fight left in him. His collapse is utter, blood pooling out of his mouth! Meanwhile, the two can see the figures approaching. One is a man in gleaming white plate armor with a red eagle emblazoned, while the other is a delicate woman wearing a white cloak and with a soft one piece bathing suit and sash on underneath. While the man has a massive greatsword in hand, the woman has a bow and arrows at the ready. They're approaching quickly, about 240 feet away now.
You're up, Krog.
Krog makes a face at Ayane's display. "Okay, maybe Krog's little human friend -is- fiend. But....Krog still a noble and gentle half-orc, though..." Krog murmurs as he stops swinging his blade and lets it slam down hard to the ground, forgetting about the lingering threat he'd made about how the soldiers would die once he swung down. Poor little soldiers. It wouldn't be surprising if they just fainted or something.

Ayane lashes out, but the defending soldiers are unable to be hit, weaving about like trapped rats! Meanwhile, the two continue to approach! 180 feet away now, the man calling, "Attacking defeated soldiers? Your deeds are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill needs one such as you!"
Krog is up.
"No Krog fault! Krog only try scare them now! No Krog fault they too stupid too run and she like pregnant orc woman..." Krog mutters with a red-face, embarrassed he can no longer truly deny accusations from the blowhard. Bad Ayane! Bad! Making Krog look bad!
"Krog leave plenty open space for namby pamby men leave and let Krog fight...what loudmouth call again, little human friend? Wrap of Seagull?" Krog's stomach rumble. "No...that just sound like Krog hungry..." Krog mutters as he tries to use his limited brain power to try and recall the loudmouth's name, forgetting his embarrassment along the way.
"Why Krog memory so bad?!?" he laments after a while. "WHY?!?"
Ayane, you're up after this post. Pick your ego up, will you? It's kinda beaten up after that.
As Krog finds himself lamenting his lacking memory cells, the two warriors continue to approach!
"p-pregnant orc woman?" She's frankly flabbergasted at that, stopping her deadly spin in sheer shock at someone calling HER that. Leaving a clear path for once to safety.
The poor soldiers, at last seeing salvation, flee like the wind past Ayane as she is utterly shocked! Meanwhile, the two approach even closer, to 120 feet away. The woman looks flabbergasted, "Pregnant orc...?!" she murmurs, "I suppose such would be barbaric and cruel..." she murmurs, while the man grimly advances on!
"Fine! Pregnant orc demonhearted chain hussy! Prepare yourself!" he calls!
Once again, Krog.
"They is most vicious, bloodthirsty thing in entire plane of existance," Krog says in a wise tone as Ayane brings up his previous statement. "Krog still remember look on teacher Gourash face when had arm ripped out by mate and had arm pushed into..."
Here Krog shudders and turns very pale. "No....noooo...Krog no do anything!!!! Nooo!!! KROG IS A GOOD BOY!!! NOOO!!!! KROG GOOD BOOOOOYY!!!! AIIIIIIEEEE!!!"
The half-orc is wailing pitifully, holding his blade like a security blanket or something, surely confusing the knights, or driving Ayane into a fearsome rage against the man that just took Krog's innocent (if insultive) comment and turned it into a truly vicious slanderous statement.
I just can't say anything to that. Ayane, you're up.
Biting her lip, Ayane gave a glare of death at all around, only her years of training keeping her from helping Krog relive one of his fondest memories directly. That will be for later...yes... later.
She rushed Krog, half yanking, half dragging him back towards the battlements.
Ayane begins to drag the blubbering Krog, God of Krog back to the battlements! At about 200 feet away now that Ayane's moved back, the two stop. "If you would, Lady?" The male knight asks, as the woman takes her bow and arrow out! She closes one eye and makes a slow, careful draw of her bow! With great aim and skill, she fires like a bullseye homing girl!

Luuucky orcgirl! <_< >_>
Despite the almost inhumanly aimed missile, Ayane is missed by the barest skin of her teeth, the arrow whizzing by! Even 200 feet away, this woman has unnatural skill and aim!
Krog, you're up. Gods help you.
"NOOOO!!!" Krog screams as the arrow whizzes above his head while he's dragged away, before blinking confusedly. "Wait, why is arrows still flying? Krog thought all bow pansies left?"
Krog decides to just hold his sword protectively in front of himself until he can regain his bearings again, after that strange episode he just underwent, while continuing to be dragged by his monk companion.
AC 27 with total defense, not that, apparently, that'll help any with the arrow lady.
Groovy. As Krog gets in touch with his girlwhipped side, Ayane's up.
"Shut up, shut up, shut up," She dragged him behind the safety of the barricades, trusting to the cover, her kind facade more than a little shattered. And it didn't even take very long.
This movement puts the duo at 205 feet away from the duo, hiding behind the barricade. For pure cover, it's quite good. It'll indeed help defend!
OOC - It'll count as full concealment/cover if you're just hiding and partial(20%) cover/concealment if you're attacking, standing up or doing anything that would expose you.
Seeing the two fall back, the pair resolutely advances! They're now 145 feet away and continuing to close! "Peculiar..." the man states, "I say, perhaps they are both fiendtouched and insane from vile influences? Nothing else explains such. Should we have a chance, would you attempt to discern such a matter, M'lady?"
The woman eyes the barricades with distaste, but nods slowly. "As you wish, M'lord. Perhaps they are lovers?" she muses entirely too loudly.
Krog is up.
"KROG NO DO SUCH THINGS WITH GIRL JUST MET! KROG NOT THAT KIND OF MALE!!!" Krog shouts from behind his cover at the comment about lovers.
Pausing, he stops to look at Ayane. "Little human friend not that kind of girl either, right? No treat Krog like boy toy, right?"
Ayane, you're up.
Sec, getting into the bunker.
Ayane's face, oddly, could still express greater levels of outrage. You learn new things every day. Waiting for them to get closer, one couldn't help but wonder 'perhaps the safer direction was advancing to the rear'.
The male knight makes a face of disgust at his Lady's words, but grimly advances on with her! 85 feet away, marching on! "Miscreants and ...whatever you are, surrender now or face combat!"
Krog.
"That speech no have enough...Krog no have good word....maybe 'oomph?' Like...you need say what you is called, and give introduction of why you is powerful or what you is...purpose? Yes, that sound good. Then offer surrender or fight," Krog recommends, feeling it rude to not answer when questioned, but not wanting to select either choice given, for that matter. "Krog also think you need gnome friend. Krog think if loudmouth have little crazy friend that agree after speech, you is beginning of something beautiful..."
"...But right now, Krog just think that speech sad...Krog can't surrender to that...but Krog no want get shot and not get chance hit back either... so Krog just wait right here right now...that sound okay?" he calls out.
"Suit yourself! There is no escape from the Order!" The man bravely calls back, "Quiver in the barricades as justice comes for you!"
Ayane.
Ayane isn't answering, in fact, she's hiding, pressed back against the barricade, ready to swipe at them when they come by.
OOC: Hide/ms of 10 each, if it is relevant. I don't think there's any advantages for surprising folks who are already aware though.
Not really, since you don't have sneak attack or anything? It's not like you're going to surprise them much, honestyl. I'll roll if I think it might matter.
As Ayane ducks and prepares, the two approach once more! Twenty five feet away now, one last call, "If you are so tainted, I can save you if you merely say the word," The woman calls, not unkindly, "...perhaps even if you are a polymorphed human male, or a polymorphed female orc?" she calls after a moment's thought.
Krog.
"Krog is Krog Wisefang, who write and draw book series, Rules of Krog. Book series will one day be known to all young ones, this Krog think. Krog want teach many young ones what Krog learn hard way. Krog teach so they no die. How can Krog teach life if Krog tainted?" Krog replies, again feeling it rude to not comment in any way. "Who you think Krog is? Krog is Krog! And with Krog book in thoughts, and Krog sword in hand, Krog never surrender! Not to namby pamby liars, Krog say!"
"Ayane...gah," She glared at Krog. "I'm going to tear all of you to ribbons. I've never..." she was half in tears and half in outrage, embarassed at not even being able to get off a decent quip.
With the two hiding, the male knight charges the barricades! He reaches them, and using the path Krog plowed through, gets to the other side! He looks about quickly, while the woman waits!
"Prepare!" The male knight calls, "Book or not, your book is no match for my might! You shall be ruined, Krog! Your beauty and charms shall not tempt me, woman! Your time is at an end!"
Initiative is Krog>Ayane>Knight and Woman, with the woman holding for the moment. Krog

The snaking chain of Ayame darts out, rattling as it strikes the greatsword of the knight! The clang of metal on metal makes a sweet opera chorus, chain wrapped around sword as Ayane pulls! However, with both hands the knight makes a great effort, a tug of war! Back and forth the two go for afew seconds, before a great oomph comes from the throat of your foe! He manages to use all of his energy to yank the sword back, blade freed and still held!
"Sneaky," he observes, "To lie in wait and disarm a foe. Prepare yourself!"
Krog is up now for reals.
Krog dashes into striking distance once the knight has made himself visible, manuevering into a position around the knight such that he is keeping the armored loudmouth between the archer and himself.
"Krog always prepared!" is all Krog has left to say on the matter as he slashes at his opponent, his own speech having bolstered his combatative spirit.

Krog's charge is vicious, slicing into the knight's side with reckless abandon! He withstands it, calling, "Now, M'lady!"
The Lady is taking her held action now.
"You who serve darkness and strike a noble champion shall be punished!" Her voice is commanding, full of condemnation! "Light, shine on and do away with impurity!" Above her, a perfect orb of white forms, slamming in the air towards Krog! It leaves an aftereffect behind it, swirling illusions of arcing white spheres!

With a mighty jerk of his body, the great Krog is able twist his chest away from the worst of the impact! Yet even then, his body flashes purple white, dozens of little detonations all around him! This burst leaves him wounded!
20 damage, Krog. Ayane, you're up.
Initiative is now Krog=Lady>Ayane>Knight.
A move that while potent, will clearly cost her, as Ayane flips over the barricades, closing with her in a moment and sending a closed fist right between her eyes. The knight is dangerous, but the danger of a spellcaster made the decision easy.

With a tumble to evade the knight, Ayane surges forth! She zooms into the lady's range, as she begins to call, "You vill-aaah!" With a deft strike Ayane thumps her head with her palm! Her eyes roll up as she staggers back, her bow dropped to the ground! She wobbles about, balance and sense of reality bruised!
Lady is stunned for one round.
Meanwhile, the knight squares up with Krog...He looks at him with a moment of indecision, looking towards her, but finallyt urns back to Krog and lets loose!

Krog is at -13 even if at full HP. If you had gotten temp HP again and that let you survive, let me know and I'll edit the following, Krog.
With that quick, deadly blow, Krog is felled down! Has the story of the mighty Krog somehow ended?! He lies there, sliced! The knight turns away, pointing his sword at Ayane, "Surrender and I shall spare your life!" he challenges. "The Order of the Red Eagle and White River will have mercy on you if you repent."
Ayane, you're up.
"Here, let me help you with understanding how an Orc looks..." Ayane could hear him, but he was about to have very good reason to be quite angry as Ayane focused on destroying the poor maiden's face with a series of incredibly violent kicks.
OOC: +7, +7, +2, all 1d10, stunning on the first to keep her incapacitated for another round after this. Ready to AoO disarm with my chain if the knight comes to help her. HP 34, AC 29, Dodge on knight for 30.

Kick! Smash! Pummel! Boot meets female face as her nose and teeth are positively ruined! She's stunned again, knocked over and with a broken, bloodied face! She lets out a cry of pain, staggered back and still vulnerable! AFter that, departing from Krog, "You dare strike her!" he roars, a reckless charge right at Ayane!

With a deft whip of her chain, Ayane manages to knock his sword out of hand! This stops his charge cold, disarming him as his sword lies on the ground in front of Ayane and the knight!
Lady is stunned again, so you're up, Ayane.
Ayane vengeance knew no limits as she continued her brutal smashing of the poor woman, sending teeth flying as she sought to drop her. Where once was a pretty young woman now was a candidate for reconstructive surgery.

Crack! The two kicks get a skull splitting CRUNCH from the woman, as her skull gives way! If she lives, it's only a few seconds for the Gods to prepare her coming judgment! Meanwhile, the knight lets forth a cry of pure anger, going for this weapon!
Ayane, this triggers an AoO for you. Go for it.
Ayane wasn't going to let him have it easily, her chain lashing out at his hands as he grabbed for it.
OOC: Disarm, 22. =p. Let's wrestle for it.
The knight grabs the sword with his hands, as Ayane lashes out with her chain! She has to delay it slightly to be able to effectively disarm him, giving him extra time to react!

With a heavy overhanded blow, his greatsword bounces off Ayane's chain!
Swaying back under his fearsome strike, she twisted, moving gracefully into a powerful backflip, her still entangled chain yanking with the motion as she sought to slip the greatsword once again from the mighty warrior's hands, landing with a bounce some ten feet away. "Now, now, where went all of that noble civility? Or are you really no better than a kobold under all that armor," She smiled, "beating up on a lady. Didn't they teach you anything?"

This time, as he closes, Ayane is able to snap the weapon out of his hands once more, knocking it to the ground!
Ayane.
Stepping forward, she stepped on the blade, pinning it to the ground and proceeding to lift a knee rapidly between the man's legs, lifting him up slightly off the floor with the force. Her narrowed eyes shone with vengeance of her pride.

With a scream the knight is stunned, a painful POPCRUNCH echoing throughout! So stunned, Ayane has a chance to lay on more pain!
WINCE. Ayane, you're up.
"Aww, did that sting a little?" She sing songed, her voice all nice and kind, as she shifted her foot, sending the greatsword skittering away behind her. "Don't worry...I have something that'll help," she wrapped his head with the unspikey portion of her chains, pulling him down as she smashed her other knee up into his nose.

With that, another blow smashes the face the nose of the knight! A trickle of blood is loosened, but the blow misses it's mark just a bit! This gives the warrior time to recoup, so he does the only thing he can! With a roar, he turns on Ayane and tries to sock her for dear life!
An unarmed attack without Improved Unarmed Attack and all that is AoO bait, so announce your AoO flavor and mod, Ayane.
Twisting back away from the blow, she smiled at the uncouth bull of a man, the place vacated by her head and shoulders swiftly replaced by the incoming chain slicing against his face.

With a flurry of blows...Ayane puts the knight down! With a gurgle his body is broken, victory in the province of the monk!
All things considered, Ayane's victory dance over their bodies could not be considered very graceful of her as winner. The various pointing and jeers definitely not very civilized.
It was excellent stress relief until her mind caught up with her and reminded her she was down here to train...and that idiotic orc was dead. So much for getting him to carry stuff for her. Brushing over her wounds, she winced. She'd have to be more careful in the future and work on her arrow catching. She wrapped some cloth around her wounds. Some meditation and she would be able to patch herself up. Meanwhile, at least the orc had left her some kind of cart. She freely roamed the battlefield, staying within the two rooms as she stripped the soldiers down, especially their commanders, sorting the two jerks stuff separately, along with the mace while looking over the rest for anything that seemed shiny, out of the ordinary, or preferrably resembled cold hard gold pieces. Those were always welcome.
---Meanwhile---
Ow. Krog knows many things and his book reflects this. Yet today has been bountiful for learning! For example:
- Ayane is a pregnant orc.
- Women with bows are also like pregnant works. They hit hard.
- Knights are like pregnant orcs, too! They hit harder!
- Getting your spine severed and your body chopped in half HURTS!
...wait, what? No! That's not how it's supposed to go! NOOOOO! Krog realizes this with a start. At least the pain is gone now. Sure, he can't feel anything, see anything or hear anything. Hell, there's even a certain peacefulness to this whole 'dead' thing. This is kind of like being very dimly awake during a long nap, getting some good, old fashioned sleep. Maybe eternity won't be so bad once you get used to this?
"Oh, for fuck's sake..." A voice calls out, heard quite clearly by Krog. This voice sounds most flustered, unbelievably irritated. "You died in the first area you explored of the first floor? How am I supposed to make money if that happens?" Lord German's voice sounds grumpy. "You know the girl with you is going to leave you to rot, most likely."
"No Krog's fault namby pamby men led by loudmouths who is actually not namby pamby!" Krog complains sullenly. "Krog know they no knights for certain now. They trick Krog with talk of honor and then all attack Krog. Big meanies..."
Krog blinks, remembering king-man, to whom he smiles. "King-man is nice man, though! Brought Krog back! Now little human friend no need to drag Krog body back here, cause Krog think king-man wrong there. She fight like demon, but she nice to Krog. She say she buy Krog book at end of journey! No can do that if leave Krog!!!"
Krog frowns here though. "Krog wish more people come though. Krog wish have someone to protect Krog purity. Little human friend not say loudmouth wrong...and...and...and...Krog want first time special..."
Krog blushes slightly here.
Probably, the half-orc has inadvertedly painted a mental picture that Lord German could surely do without.
...
"Oh, for the fucking love of Tiamat and Bahamut's bastard children..." Lord German mutters in complete disbelief. "Look. I'll bring you back right now if you bring me that jewelled mace down here after? Got it? Just say yes, no more wonderings or IMAGES. Gaaaah!" You can hear a twitch in his voice, as if his body protests. "If you do that, you can do whatever you want. Just do it in the dungeon so I don't have to hear about it!"
Krog blinks again, having gotten a bit lost in Lord German's little speech. He's certain he's gotten the gist of it, and he's just supposed to say...
"Krog say Yes?" he answers tentatively.
"Fine!"
Woosh! Krog feels better!
---Meanwhile---
As Ayane begins to loot the two bodies of the knight and lady, she hears Krog cough rather loudly, sucking down air like it's going out of business.
Krog, you're at 1 HP.
Ayane, pausing for a moment, walked over from her pile and prodded Krog with her foot. "You're still alive?" She was more than a bit surprised as she could've sworn she heard a death scream out of him. "Perhaps instead, you should pay me a protection fee," She smiled widely, leaning over the fallen orc. "After all, it looks like you could use the protection of a master of Chizo."
"Krog just underestimate loudmouths. Krog no do that again," Krog mutters crossly.
"Is that a lesson in your book? Perhaps," She smiled pleasantly, "After "Death Comes Quickly If You Call Beautiful Ayane a Pregnant Orc?"
"Krog think you need talk to Krog publisher and editor after we is done here."
She shook her head, "You can pay for the time," She walked back to checking out the items, privy to Krog asking things.
Krog just grunts as he gets up and proceeds to heal himself.

From the Knight and his Lady
1 Greatsword

---
As the two load the loot onto Krog's cart, they can hear the faraway gate opening and getting noisy, the sound of more soldiers and lots of them. Almost like a storm of steel roused up. Uh oh.
Not liking the odds of another fight, and hearing them quickly (how can she not, with such ruckus), Ayane gestured to krog. "Stay behind the barricade, I'll be right back."
With that, her feet seemed flow over the ground without touching it, the woman gone in a moment as she headed back to quickly see what was going on at the previous barricade.
Ayane quickly heads back. She finds that the narrow hallway and then the barricade are still abandoned.
Moving back she waved Krog on. "Come on, lets fall back to the last barricade," She waited towards the door, watching the hallway ahead and ready to shift back to cover if a line of archers appear in the distance.
Krog nods as he grasps the cart firmly and begins to pull it and the looted objects back in the direction they originally came from. Just because he was back to full health thanks to his magical powers didn't mean the half-orc didn't still feel that phantom pain of death still lingering, keeping his brain somewhat on the 'You're not ready to fight yet, you fucking moron!!!' mentality at the moment.
Ayane lead the two behind the barricades, waiting there for the approaching knights as she readied for them as best she could, keeping an eye out to the rear passageway...where she'd quickly be heading if the odds looked unfavorable.
So the two beat a hasty retreat, Krog's cart laden with loot as they fall back! The first room is still empty when they arrive, awaiting them. Glancing back, Ayane can see several dozen knights, archers and spearmen gushing out! They're manning the barricades in back, filling up the table room, going into the squeezed hallway where they work switches, which cause small compartments in the wall to open up. Also, a large contingent is looking to prepare to head through the narrow tunnel.
Seeing the swarm coming out, Ayane somewhat gawked at the numbers, never having really faced down an army before. Keeping protected by the barricades, she watched them, getting ready to escape if need be. Treasure only works if you're alive to use it. "This many to take down one young lady is a bit telling of your manliness," She called out over the barricades at them.
"Krog think even if they namby pamby and not like loudmouths, there too many to kill..." Krog comments, entirely up for taking what victory they already have gotten. "And... Krog think king-man wanted us bring mace to him?"
"Wait," Ayane's opinion on when to flee was slightly flavored by her ability to outrun them. "If they are going to follow, we want to face them here, rather than have them shooting at us as we try and climb back up the path."
Meanwhile, the troops continue to consolidate ahead. The walls are manned now, spears ready to stab any that venture into the narrow hall without leave. The rooms ahead have men aplenty, as a spearhead of 12 prepare ahead. Leading them is a man in armor like a dragon's, steel blue and with a spear in hand.
"...So what little human friend want?" Krog asks in a serious tone. "They -much- bigger group. And Krog guess there at least one strong guy, if not more."
"Can maybe beat. Can maybe not. What Ayane think?" It sounds like the half-orc is willing to defer to Ayane's opinion though he might argue if it's obvious even to him that it's not the right thing to do. But if he agrees, he's willing to start using his remaining magical power to somehow get them out alive. Hopefully.
"They might break and flee if we take out their new leader," she held her ground, not quite as worried at the moment.
OOC: Dodge on the leader.
Dodge? Right-o. +1 AC.
The troops are assembled just on the other side of the narrow hall, the leader on point. "You..." H is voice is savage and angry, "Leave this sacred domain or suffer endless wrath! You have impinged our honor and assailed us! For this crimes we will wipe you away!"
Krog nods to Ayane, and as per habit, responds to the shouted announcement. "You guys attack Krog and Ayane first! If you want us leave without fight, we is happy to do so! If not...well, Krog believe you have those remember what Krog and little human friend willing to do when attacked!"
Hopefully not the part where Krog fell, at least. But Krog had been too busy to check if of all those who fled, any stuck around to see his death.
The knights prepare! Three knights up front, the leader, three spearmen, then three archers in the rear. They do have to go single file, however, rushing down the hall. Have the mighty Krog's words fallen on deaf ears? Perhaps so, as you see the warriors in general look quite angry.
Krog decides to prepare for war! Krog begins to cast his magic, casting as many spells as he quickly can, if any.
Divine Power->Divine Favor->Bull's Strength. If god forbid there's still an extra round for it, Detect Magic.
"Well, that answers that," Ayane had her hands on her hips, looking through an arrow hole. "Let's clean these folks up," She readied herself for their approach, getting somewhere she could swipe at them as they got near the barricade.
OOC:
Fighting defensively and using cover. AC 30 against the leader, 29 against the others, planning to go with yanking their weapons away as they approach as much as possible. Focusing on the leader first if he gets near with any attacks. HP 34.
Okay, I'll do this round by round without initiative until it looks like attacks will begin.
Krog invokes Divine Power, strengthening his body!
Ayane begins to go defensive, using cover and waiting!
The soldiers rush through the hallway, the first 2 knights making it out and the rest following!

Plink, plink, plink! The shirukens do minor damage to the knight on the left, one bouncing off his armor! Meanwhile, Krog invokes Divine Favor onto himself, the power of Krog making Krog stronger to Krog's wishes. Krog. Meanwhile, the first two knights fan out slightly as the rest head down the hall! They form a perimeter outside of the wall, letting the leader out. The knights and spearmen are at front, while thel eader is behind them, with the archers just outside of the narrow passage.
He points his spear at Ayane and Krog, "Prepare yourselves!" he challenges!
Ayane, you're up. The baddies used the round to do positioning shit.
Ayane keeps low, her eye on the leader, readying both attacks to yank his spear out of his hands when he closed, while at same time, ready to punish any who got too close.
OOC: AC 27 on leader, 26 on others, 2 disarm attacks on the leader's count, next turn when he gets in range at +22 and +17 respectively. HP 34.
Ayane readies, low to the ground and preparing!
Krog.
As battle comes to a head, Krog gives one final prayer to prepare for battle, the power of his magic powering this prayer so as to take some of their opponent's luck while granting some of it to himself and his companion as he recites words with eyes closed, before he opens them with crystal clarity, feeling ready for combat as he draws his sword.
Casting Prayer, +1 luck bonus to attack/damage/saves/skill for us, -1 luck of same to those caught in 40ft burst from Krog, catching at the very least the leader, or the most number of soldiers if that's not possible.
Krog's prayer effects the very luck of all that are around! Ayane and Krog's luck is bolstered, whilst all the enemies around are unlucky! First, the three knights come forth, swarming to Ayane!
Ayane, you can make AoOs here as you wish.
It was as if they were caught in a swirling blue net, her chain shifting in and around them, striking their sword hands with ease.
OOC: +22 disarms on all three.

With a whirl of action, Ayane bats aside all three swords and sends them to the ground! Swiftly acting, the archers brace up! "Attack her! See if she can catch arrows!" The man in blue armor commands, arrows following his words!

One arrow clatters off the barricade, while the other two strike Ayane head on! Enough damage to seriously wound her, while the three spearmen tentatively hold off! Meanwhile, the leader...
Ayane, are you still going to interdict him with your held action?
Ayane is totally on the readied action to rip things away from him. Actually it should be +23 and +18, due to prayer, with a -1 against him. I'm hoping the odds work and either way, what's the point of dropping the action?
If taking all that damage changed your mind. I figured I should offer.
As the leader prepares, Ayane lashes forward and out towards him! Her chain lashes out at his lance!

CLANG! With a swift, massive stroke Ayane knocks his spear down, going just before he can begin!
Ayane, are you going to make your second full attack here or...?
Dere is none, said here also for ease
The leader does the only thing he can here - tries to pick up his denuded weapon to once again be armed!
AoOing again, Ayane?
Also, initiative is now Ayane>Leader>Krog>Soldiers.
"Tsk, can't keep your grip?" Two sharp snaps are felt against his hands as he grabs for his lance.
OOC: Disarm. +23 again.

CLANG! Holding her attack to the last moment, Ayane strikes the lance away once more with a virtouso display of speed!
Krog.
Krog considers attacking the disarmed knight, but given the ease with which Ayane seems to keep him unarmed despite the wounds on her body, decides it best to lend a helping hand to her instead while she's still conscious/alive.

* Hatbot --> "Infinite_Ko_Loop rolls 4d8+8 and gets 20." [4d8=4, 3, 4, 1]
Ayane's wounds heal via the vast power of Lord KROG! With that, the knights surrounding Ayane parry save for one, who attempts to grab onto her!
Knight is attempting a grapple; let me know if you're AoOing or not.
Ayane is as dangerous as ever to grab onto, a deadly spike slashing across his face.
OOC: Of course, +13 on that attack.

13 damage, Ayane. Ow.
With a twang of catgut and wooden shafts meeting, arrows fly at Ayane! Two are batted aside, but the last buries deep into her right leg! As blood trickles out from the wound, the three spearmen hang further back...
Ayane, you're up, then the leader.
Ayane, quite sick of her beautiful skin being made a pincushion of, seemed to fade, a blur racing by them as she rushed to close with the archers. Her red eyes gleamed with malice as she readied to tear them to shreds.
OOC: Fighting defensively. AC 29, 30 versus the archer that hit her last time, and 33 against AoOs. Moving up to close with the archers. My range is 100 feet so it should be well within it. And if they're within 50, I'm taking a swing at the one that hit me last time. Flying kick to the face. +9 on it.
> roll 1d20+9
* Hatbot --> "Infinite_Ko_Loop rolls 1d20+9 and gets 11." [1d20=2]
Ayane surges past her foes, towards the archers! She slugs at one of them, but her blow goes past his head! With that miss, the holding spearmen leap into action! They stay at the edge of their range, using their reach to safely strike Ayane!

But like a nightengale of battle, Ayane dodges each and every one safely!
Initiative is Ayane>Spearmen>Leader>Krog>Knights and Archers. Leader is up.
Taking his chance now that Ayane has fled, he picks up his spear and readies himself!
Krog.
"So what name of man fighting Krog?" Krog asks as he grips his own weapon, stepping forward and slashing at the knight. Unlikely the first strike will cause his opponent to fall in one blow after all, so might as well be a civil half-orc opponent...
attack +16, PA-4. damage: 2d6+22. AC 21. HP 65/65
I lost the rolls for this, but you hit and wounded the knight. Notes are on the other computer.
With a vicious slash, Krog cuts into the knight! There is no chance for reply, the two locked into an angry duel! Meanwhile, the archers fumble back, but Ayane has great range!
Ayane, you can AoO the archers.
Ayane's chains are fast as they wrap around their bows, tearing them from their hands.
OOC: +19 disarms on all of 'em.

Whirling about, Ayane disarms the archers to cries of fear and protest! Meanwhile, the knights look around in complete disarray, getting their swords back now that they have a chance!
Ayane
A wicked smile crossed her face as she closed in with the archers, giving them no headway, her chains whipping dangerously around and behind them as she stepped close to the nearest one and proceeds to let loose with a devestating display of spinning kicks.
OOC: +10/+10/+5, AC 27 against the nearest lancer. AC 26 against everyone else. Obviously intending to cut them up good should they try to run.

CRUNCH! An archer goes down like a bloodied heap, kicks having knocked him out! The first soldier goes down, two archers, three knights and three spearmen remaining along with the leader! Meanwhile, the spearmen look on at Krog, before one attempts to grapple with him!
Krog, you can AoO if you like.[/u]

With a deft slice, Krog decapitates the enclosing spearman! One spearman and one archer now lie slain! At that, the leader has his spear in hand and acts! He steps forward a few feet towards the direction Ayane went, kneels down and then...jumps! HE jumps more like a vapor of steam rising out of a teakettle, vanishing away as he soars into the air!
Initiative is Ayane>Spearmen>Leader>Krog>Knights and Archers. Krog is up.
"Krog knew it. All you still namby pamby men..." the half orc warns the spearmen. "Stay aside while strong guys do all work. Heh heh...Krog no recommend get involved! Krog hope you understand warning!"
Warning given, Krog readies his sword at his side, prepared to swing upward and slash the knight and his weapon in two, certain of his superior strength, his eyes focused on capturing the right moment to swing at the man he's currently considering his true opponent.
Currently holding action, readying to swing the moment the leader makes his move.
Gotcha.
Since the leader is currently unseen, Krog does realize it will be hard to anticipate and attack promptly. Fair warning.
The knights and archers are disarrayed, but cheer on. One calls, "He will bring glory against you!" he calls, while the knights, rearmed, swarm Krog!

With vicious intent they close in on Krog, hacking in bravely! "For the order!" They cry, "We will not be so defeated and humiliated!" So the battle rages all around!
Ayane.
Trusting her instincts, Ayane shifted into what seemed to be an almost graceful dance, her chain whipping about her with dangerous speeds to deflect anything that would come near.
OOC: Total defense. 32 against everyone. 33 against Mr. Leader.
As Ayane defends, a scream like a dragon's fall echos! It comes from above, from the ceiling! Like a dart the leader dives through the stony surface like it's not there, plummeting like a meteor at Ayane! His spear is extended, ready to impale her like mad!
Krog, you can act. If you're trying to attack him before he lands on Ayane I'm assigning a -4 circumstancial bonus for reasons mentioned a couple of posts back. Post your intent and I'll resolve it.
"WATCH HEAD!" the half orc bellows, ignoring the wounds viciously inflicted upon him to take a second deep breath, and putting power into his voice, shouting once more, this time directing his booming voice towards the knight attacking Ayane from above, "DROP WEAPON!!!!" as if expecting the powerful command to jolt the knight into doing just that.
Attempting to use Command spell, DC 15, with Drop effect, to get him to drop his weapon. Remember he gets -1 to save from prayer.

With the power of Krog, all is possible! The spear of the knight is dropped to the ground, clattering! However, it does not stop his meteoric dive at Ayane.
Okay, quick and rough adjudication corner! While his weapon isgone, he's still falling at Mach 3 towards the monk. I'm going to give him his base attack roll to see if he connects. IF he does, he plows into Ayane. If he fails, he misses and slams into the ground.
> roll 1d20+16

* Hatbot --> "Infinite_Avril_Loop rolls 10d6 and gets 33." [10d6=1, 5, 1, 5, 2, 3, 5, 4, 6, 1]
There is the loud squeal of metal and the heavy rattle of breaking bones! Blood oozes out from his inert form, pooling in the small crater he made!
"N...N...Noooo!" the soldiers all cry in utter dismay and shock!
Initiative is Ayane>Spearmen>Krog>Knights and Archers. Ayane is up, the common soldiers were completely flabbergasted.
Krog actually gapes in disbelief. "Wow...Krog no believe he do what Krog say! Krog manly voice just too much for him...Or he just no good with weapon as Krog think?"
Ayane's laughter was melodious, as much as it was out of place with the horrific accident that had occurred and the cries of shock and outrage. The young monk lashed out with her chain, wrapping it's sharp length around the neck of the nearest archer, her pearly teeth likely the last thing he saw as her knee smashed up into his skull.
OOC: AC 26, AC 27 against nearest lancer. +13 chain attack at 2d4+2, +7 unarmed attack at 1d10+1. Really just a dramatic five foot step and two attacks.

Laughter is joined by the crack of a body being broken, Ayane bringing demise to the next lancer! With only one spearman left, he backs away carefully and flees like the wind!
AoO on the fleeing lancer if you want; he's fleeing in pure disregard.
Ayane is many things. Graceful, swift, beautiful and deadly.
Merciful isn't really on that list as the young man felt a brutal lash slashing into his legs.

The last spearman's face is crushed, sending him to a stone floor grave!
Krog.
"Hrm...well, Krog recall warning namby pamby men stay aside. Krog think you no understand warning...so Krog must give...." Krog smiles brightly at the spearmen around him, the ones that viciously attacked him despite his rather kindly offered warning.
"...PUNISHMENT."
This statement is followed by a loud war cry as his sword flashes to skewer one of the knights around him, specifically the one that did the most damage to him just a while ago. Krog's brain might not be the best in terms of computing power, but remembering faces of those who hurt him? Hey, no one ever said the half-orc wasn't vindictive. "GRWAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!" The half-orc screams mightily as he swings his blade to rip apart the spearman.

You guys can AoO : Krog the last knight, Ayane the archers, if you wish.

Go ahead, free action.
"And don't come back," Ayane shouted after them, some bravado as she didn't particularly care for another encounter, rubbing her sore, but magically healed skin. "Well...more things to carry away..." she turned looking back over the heap, particularly the smashed knight.
"Thanks..." She offered somewhat reluctantly towards Krog.
"Krog hope they learn lesson..." Krog grunts as he wipes his sword clean and sheaths it. "Krog think we best leave in case they no learn though..."
Krog proceeds to begin healing himself and Ayane, using up the majority of his remaining magical power. "Krog no have much power left..." the half-orc admits in a quiet conspiratory voice. "Best if go back to king-man when grab all we want keep."

Healing magic mends the wounds of Krog and Ayane.
How much do you want to loot? Do yo uguys want to grab everything orjust salient items?
"Works for me... I don't think I could handle many more of them either," She admitted in a rare bit of honesty, not that it was so evident on her, despite the physical exertion, she still looked almost as fresh as ever, helping load the lighter things into Krog's cart.
"Krog can still fight...but Krog cannot heal good anymore if Krog or friend get hurt. Krog try no fight when that case," Krog adds for his own part before he begins to mutter a few words under his breath, closing his eyes as he makes certain gestures ending with one of his hand passing over his eyes, which when reoppened seem to almost glow with magic. The half-orc looks around, trying to search for items that show themselves to likely be valuable to his empowered sight that they might otherwise have missed.
Detect Magic
Krog finds that the leader's spear and armor radiate magic.
Krog continues to look around, searching for any other sources of magic in the area, for the time being.
The gear looted from the previous encounter has various magics on it. The stuff from the leaders, anyway. Nothing else is magical around these parts.
"Ready to go?" Ayane waited while he casted his spells.
"Krog sad...they fight so much and no have much that look good..." Krog answers with a small sigh as he helps finish load up the splattered knight's gear and any other of the heavier gear that Ayane might have not grabbed already. "Time to go."
Ayane nodded, leading the way back and carefully making her way up back to the main landing where the king lived.
The trip back up is without incident. Tired but alive, the party returns to Lord German. He idly taps his fingers on the armrest of his throne, "Ah, there you are," he begins, pointedly looking at Krog.
"Hmm, did something happen?"
"Yup! Here Krog is!" Krog replies cheerfully, pointing his thumb at his chest.
Looking on with a raised eyebrow, "Now then...?" He looks pointedly at Krog again.
Krog blinks and looks over to Ayane, then at Lord German, then back at Ayane. He whispers to the girl, "Krog get feeling he forget something...not supposed forget..."
Lord German's eyebrow twitches, a few words murmured. In Krog's mind, the following replays with startling, magical clarity:
Quote
...wait, what?
Ayane tapped her foot, watching the two and then going to Krog's cart, starting to separate out the loot into "Heavy" and "not so heavy"
After you pay the man, I welcome help to also do "magical and non magical
Krog blinks. "...wait! Krog...remember! Like happen... only five minutes ago or so!"
Let nothing be said about the fact that yes, it had happened only five minutes ago or so.
"King-man bring Krog back so friend Ayane no feel lonely!" Krog explains to Ayane, actually using her name for once, beaming with a toothy smile. "He nice man, only ask for mace thing lying namby pamby men want keep."
"Yes, yes. Friend, whatever, you two can figure it out in your room tonight. Just give me the mace already!" He looks between Krog and Ayane, shivers, and then waits.
She lifted the mace. "I never quite understood why folks used these. It isn't like they particularly help at crushing armor or something," She commented as she handed it over.
"Ooooh..." Lord German rubs the mace against his cheek, sighing. "The gems inset, the wealth..." He sighs in contentment, "Oh yes, you're going to fit in just fine. I think I'll name you Philiptine."
"...Well then," She put on a wide smile, avoiding commenting on the creepy man. "We'll leave you two to your own."
She headed back to the treasure, looking over it.
Krog, share your magical insights plz =)
Krog scratches head, but shrugs. He's seen weirder hobbies.
The half-orc goes join Ayane to look over the loot, checking out what is available from what they grabbed off the dead soldiers, including the loudmouths and splatter fumbler. "How you want split?" Krog asks.
"Oooooh! That reminds me!" Lord German calls, "Do you need your looted gains identified?" His voice lightens up, "For a very reasonable price I can help you with that."
"What reasonable price might that be?" Ayane glanced back over her shoulder.
"Oh, 200 GP or 10% of the item's total cost, whichever is lower. It's quite reasonable," Lord German's eyes flash gold as he looks on, "Unlike the always difficult games of dungeon shopkeeps - which I note you don't even know where one is yet - I guarantee 100% accurate results, no theft, and just the pure facts."
"Krog think that sound good. What you think?" the half-orc checks with the monk for her own opinion. "Only loudmouths and splatter guy have any special stuff."
"Well, I'm fine with it... not here for the profit anyway," She took the stuff Krog had suggested and laid it out before the Cree...King.
Greatsword is a Greatsword+1, holy.
White Plate Mail is Full Plate+2.
Longbow is Artemis Bow. This is a longbow+2 that has the following power:
Aim (Sp)
Once per day, you can add a +20 bonus to your attack roll. This requires your attack becoming a full round action.
Swimsuit is a Swimsuit of Protection+1. This grants a +1 armor bonus to AC.
Scroll is a Scroll of Magic Circle Against Chaos.
Spear is Dragoon Lance. This is a longspear+2 that has the following power:
Jump (Sp)
You become ethereal and jump high into the air, coming down one round later on a foe of your choice within 40 ft. This adds a bonus 5d6 damage. This may be done once per day.
Armor is Full Plate+2.
(All the armors are +2 and are priced as such via SRd standard. The weapons count as flat +3 weapons for price. The swimsuit is 2000 GP.)
---
As Lord German finishes, "Okay, that's 1400 GP! How are you going to pay?"
Ayane picked up the swimsuit and considered. "Well, depending on what Krog wants, how about we sell the remainder to you and you can take it out of what its worth."
She tapped her cheek. ""Actually, do you have anything for sale?"
I'll make a post of sorting for this tomorrow, and resume in earnest Friday Night. I'd say Thursday, but there's a nasty time conflict with something else online. Heads up. Any problems with this?
It be casual. Totally fine.
Total of sale is 44,000 GP, minus 1400 GP for a total of 42400 GP.
Thereafter, the party rests and recovers! Lord German looks onafter they return, "Well? Get going!"
"Do you have anything for sale yourself, Lord German?" She smiled sweetly at the man, not much for carrying large quantities of deadweight with her.
Lord German smiles back, eyes flashing gold. "Why yes, yes I do. You see, I collect many a trinket from dungeon goers, or their dearly depa-aah, no matter. But yes, I have some items." He sits in his throne, smoothing over his robes, "I can get you almost anything...for a price." With that last bit, he smiles. "You understand, easy selection and procurement attaches a premium. So tell me, what do you want?"
"Oh, I was thinking you wouldn't need to go out of your way, handsome. After all, that's so tiring and you must have such an amazing collection of trinkets if you collect so handsomely from most adventurers." She tapped her lips, putting on a rather naive gaze as she thought it over. "Would you perhaps have anything to make it harder to catch little ol' me? Or perhaps something for carrying the treasure back up here? I always appreciate that little mystic bit of help to keep my skin untouched as well. And I wouldn't mind seeing if you had any pretty chains or nice things to help me hit harder."
OOC:
fishing for: Cloak of Displacement Minor, Bag of Holding, Item of warping back up to the top~, improved ring of prot or bracers of armor, spiked chain of defending, shirt/ring of mighty blows?
"Mmmm. A minor cloak of displacement is out of your budget..." The Lord German peers at Ayane. "Well, here's a nice, handy list."
- Cloak of Displacement, minor: 36000 GP.
- Ring of Protection+2 12000 GP.
- Bracers of Armor+4 24000 GP.
- Amulet of Mighty Blows+1 6000 GP (Considering how the price is messed up, his markup is keeping it at SRD standard. <_<)
- Spiked Chain+2, defending 27000 GP.
----
After listing those, Lord German eyes Krog's kart. "If you're interested in a bag of holding..."
"Hmm, what are you suggesting?" She follows his eyes.
"I could make that cart faster, stronger, tougher..." Lord German begins, eyeing it critically. "Or I could just magically increase it's holding capacity."
"Oh, and you're offering, how very generous of you, Lord German..."
Krog scratches head. "Krog no really have anything really want. Just anything that let Krog hit harder or no get hit hard. Hrm...or something let Krog use special power better."
He does nod to the offer of improving the cart though. "King-man have good idea with Krog cart. Make easier to carry more things then."
ooc: things to maybe look at - other greatsword (have greatsword+2 and greatsword+1 holy) or AC options (have full plate+2 and ring of prot+1 right now), divine scrolls, ioun stones (str/wis), metamagic rods.
Merc, for the greatswords, can you elaborate? Do you just want to see base +3 weapons or with traits attached? Details would be nice here. But eh, I'm feeling lazy and I've settled into a lazy position. Go ahead and propose something, the general markup is an extra 50% over SRD standard. Lord German will generally have almost anything you want...at a price. Also:
- Make Krog's cart Holding (2ooo pound weight limit, 100 cubic feet of space to work with): 10,000 GP.
- Make Krog's cart Protected (Krog's cart is warded against accidents, it gains a +4 bonus to checks vs tipping over, falling, being damaged and so forth.): 10,000 GP.
- Make Krog's cart Fire Immune(It doesn't burn or melt. Nice wooden carts.): 10,000 GP.
Krog decides to accept Lord German's offer of increasing the holding capacity of his cart, rather than getting anything else at the moment, and discusses such with Ayane.
ooc: feeling lazy too. >_>
Tossing Krog her share, Ayane slipped away a bit, changing out into her outfit and pulling on the soft but magical swimsuit. "What a strange thing to find in a dungeon," She pulled at the fabric. "I wouldn't expect beachwear to be useful or even sensible protective garb...but at least it doesn't inhibit my movement. Still, seems like something that I'd expect out of some teenager's fantasy," She commented straightfaced as she slipped her not so magical gi into her bag for now and sat down, meditating.
----
Gently kicking the snoring orc, she gracefully walked by, a skip in her step as all signs of yesterday's painful encounter were long since gone. "Come on, you slow poke, challenge awaits," She smiled, heading carefully down into the first room.
OOC: Timeskipping past healing and such, take 10 on balance. Assume if/when leveling happens it'll just be announced.
Just the cart upgrade? Okay. Make sure to track your GP and note your cart properties somewhere on your sheet, Merc.
The trip back down to the main room goes without incident. A door and an archway await unexplored. Further, the door to the knight's domain has been barred with steel chains and wooden boards, hastily hammered in.
Ayane stepped forward and opened the second door, the one to the north. "Well, they certainly aren't very friendly," She laughed a bit at that.
Ahead past the door is a long, sloping hallway. It goes up and down in gentle U's, with a decidedly downward overall gradient. Torches line the walls, leading deeper in.
"Come on, Krog," She lead onwards, careful and ready, having a feel for the dungeon or so she thought.
Krog nods as he pulls on the seemingly lighter cart, walking right behind Ayane, letting the monk girl scout for traps and whatnot.
ooc: still on same 'day', or shall Krog refresh his list of spells?
Refresh, I'm assuming you rested a day. I'll post again in the morning, kinda tired tonight.
Down and up they go! Past the first hill, the party is able to see that this goes on for some time. However, the next U shaped dip's bottom has what appears to be a filling of water, making it a ten foot deep pool instead of a path. The pool is about twenty five feet wide, the water dark and a bit too dim to see much into.
"This looks a bit much to take a cart across..."
Ayane looks into the water, trying to see if there was anything in the murk before tying a handy rock to the end of her rope, giving it a few swings and tossing it into the middle of the water, letting it sink and shaking it around a bit to see if anything disasterous would react to such an intrusion.
> roll 1d20+17
<Saulbot> Ko-Sageisakillerlolirobottoo rolled 1d20+17 --> [ 1d20=3 ]{20}
Ayane can see something shadowy moving in the wet depths. She can't make out what, however. With a splash the stone lands in, and after a few seconds the rope is pulled on!
What's your STR mod, Ayane?
+0, Ayane has no intent of getting into a wrestling contest with something though, so if she feels a yank that's hard, she's likely going to cut the line.
> roll 1d20
<Saulbot> Ko-Sageisakillerlolirobottoo rolled 1d20 --> [ 1d20=10 ]{10}
> roll 1d20+5
<Saulbot> Ko-Sageisakillerlolirobottoo rolled 1d20+5 --> [ 1d20=14 ]{19}
Ack! in a moment the rope is ripped away!
Reacting?
Ayane lashes out lightning fast, saving most the rope with a quick cut with a sharpened shuriken and stepping back from the moat.
The rope is severed! The remaining rope is sucked down; however, an entirely too long tendril comes up from the depths and lashes out at Ayane in revenge!
> roll 1d20+12 (-2 PA)
<Saulbot> Kotono rolled 1d20+12 (-2 PA) --> [ 1d20=12 ]{24}
The horrible brown tendril slams into the ground next to Ayane before starting to slide back into the water!
You guys can react. If you wanna go all offensive or going into the water, we'll do initiative.
Ayane smiled widely, "Okay, let's see, the correct technique for this is..."
Krog found himself dragged halfway down the hall before she finished, in a sing song voice, "Run away~"
Returning to the main room, she went towards the remaining unexplored alcove/doorway.
"Krog agree. Never good when seafood see you as food instead," Krog comments as he's pulled back.
Into the dark archway the party goes! A few steps in makes Ayane blink. It's not dark at all! Instead, she finds herself in a pleasant, well lit room. A woman is here, with short brown hair. She wears unusual clothes, some sort of coarse blue pants and a knitted top. She smothers a yawn as you enter, pretty but not terribly so. "Oh, hi there. Oooh, this is your first time here?"
Ayane blinks a bit at the shift, her eyes adjusting quickly as she put on a warm smile like a pleasant mask, "Oh, yes, we're just exploring...I guess you get a lot of those."
"Yeah, it's how I make a living here." After a moment, "...not nearly well enough, stupid greed Lord Ger..." But that's cut off before it finishes, instead, "Nice to meet you. I'm Janna." With a pleasant smile, "Have you ever been stuck between a dungeon wall and a monster way too strong to kill? Trying to drag a dead friend back while not being overcome by shocker lizards? Or just not felt like walking twenty floors back up?" With a nice smile, "I can help you with all of those!"
"Ah, rent is tough," She nodded understandingly. "Nice to meet you Janna. I'm Ayane... and how might you be able to help us?"
Janna reaches into a pocket, taking out a few jade fragments. "Look but don't touch. See these?" She takes the time to lay them out on the table in front of her, "I can make teleportation keys for this dungeon. For just 5,000 gold, I can make one that will return you to the entrance of the floor you're on. For 7,500, I sell you one that'll take you to Lord German's throne room. For 10,000..." Janna smiles mysteriously, "I can give you one that takes you to a secret place."
"Oh what a fantastic deal, just 500 gold? Excellent," She cheerfully replied. "But you're on the first floor, how does anyone know how many floors there are? And what is the secret place?"
OOC: Any other doors?
"How often can use a teleport thingie?" Krog asks.
There aren't. It's a dead end.
"Oh, that old ...nice old man didn't tell you?" Janna plasters a smile onto her face, keeping it up long enough. "Each level of the dungeon has a secret area. There's one entrance that's very well hidden, if you can find it you'll find a well guarded horde with a special item. If you're stumped or lazy..." Janna picks up one of the jade pieces and grins. "AND HEY! It's 5,000! Ahem. They're one use, but you won't find a better or safer deal."
"Oh, so they're basically a laziness tax?" She nodded, keeping her voice pitched a bit ditzily, with a disarming smile. "Sounds like fun, but that's such a high number, isn't there other things that'd be more useful to trade?"
"Unless you can send me back home, no." With a slight laugh at that, "I'll give you the entire collection if you can do that. But...mm..." She peers at Ayane and Krog, and then, "Big guy, I don't think I caught your name."
"Only one time?" Krog sounds disappointed. "That sad. Krog no understand though. Entrance to floor is by king-man, right? Why 5000 gold to entrance and 2500 more just to five, ten steps away? That silly..."
"It is~" She agreed. "But more, what happens if they don't work? How do we know? Like, what if you gave us a discount, to get us hooked on keeping them around. Then we'd always buy them from you since we know it is good to carry around."
"Oh..." Janna stands up, going over to Krog. She smiles, running a finger along his chin. "Right now, that's true. But what about after a dozen rooms, past boiling acid and sizzling lava? What about when you have a fiendish, undead dragon army on your tale?" With a pleasant smile, "Then there's a lot more reason to use these."
Glancing over from Krog, Janna gives Ayane a quick look. "Buy one. I'll give your first purchase a money back guarantee if it doesn't work." With a little smile, "That's more than enough fair incentive."
"But wouldn't all of them have a money back guarentee to avoid brutish adventures managing to come back angry and stuff? Well, we'll have to think about it... Come on Krog, I need you to break something," Ayane turned and headed out with a smile, waiting in the next room, where if krog asked she pointed out that the way forward involved shattering that barricade in their way.
The half-orc shrugs and calls out, "Be right there!"
Turning to the sales girl, he asks, "How you feel about making sale option bigger? No just sell teleport thingies, sell books too. Adventuring guides for those new at business!"
Krog pulls out a book from his cart and hands it to the girl. "And you is easy to find, very close to king-man! Have good chance of selling, yes?"
Looking over the book, "Oh, he'll be along, girlie," Janna cheerfully calls as she takes the book. "Oh, it looks ilke a wonderful book! How about we sit down and talk about it!"
Krog smiles widely. Yay! An interested potential customer!
"Is guide on rules of living. Not just for explorers, but is still very good for them!"
"Mmmm." Janna sits back down, guiding Krog along. "So it's a guide for life? Kind of how my talismans are a guide for the dungeon?"
"Yes. Go hand in hand for explorer. Even better if next volume recommend explorers buy teleport thingies when offered!" Krog innocently adds.
"So yes...so if I buy one of your books, you'll buy this," Idly waving one of the jade shards, "That does sound good. How much is your book?" She leans close to Krog, a pleasant, appealing look all the time.
'Only buy one book?' Krog thinks in disappointment. "How much you say teleport thingies were again?"
"This one?" Janna waves it around, "Only ten thousand gold. It'll take you to a special place on this floor. I bet you can beat up whatever is there and take the prize." With a nice smile, "While you do that, I'll read your book and when you come back, all rich and loaded up, we'll talk about the book and more of them."
"...ten thousand buy a lot of books though," Krog mutters, scratching his chin as if deep in thought, ceasing to pay the sales girl as much attention temporarily. "Krog wonder if Krog should consult ancestors...Krog no prepare to do that today though...hrm..."
"Oh come on..." Leaning into whisper to Krog, "You're a big, strong man. I'm just a nice, pretty young woman. You can trust me to do you right." Batting her eyelashes, "You won't regret it, Sir Krog."
"...what pretty have to do with business?" the half-orc asks confused.
"It means I'm trustworthy!" Janna promises, "Completely trustworthy!"
Krog looks doubtful. "Krog no know...." the half-orc makes a face as he looks up and down the profile of the girl. "You is not really Krog kind of pretty...Krog like bigger..."
Here, the cleric raises his hand to chest and cups hands in front of them, making generously sized round motions.
Twitch.
"Oh..." Janna fixes on a polite smile, "Are you hunting for those with your friend? Well..." Thinking quickly, Janna suddenly smiles, "Maybe the treasure for this floor will be those!" Holding the jade out, "Why don't you buy it and see?"
"Krog no think that could be a treasure. What they eat? Actually, Krog wonder. What girl like you do for food? Krog no think you can just teleport back and forth if teleport thingie is one time use...and you no -look- that strong..."
Janna twitches a second time. She takes a very deep breath, "Krog, baby..." she begins, a hand on her hip. "I have my ways, okay? A girl can't survive if she doesn't adapt, you know?" A faint smile passes over her face a few moments at that, as she leans in, "I used to be a monster of sorts, a long time ago. That's all I'm going to say."
After that, she leans back, "But anyway, just take it and pay up," she gives Krog a long look. "Aren't you a man who's willing to take things into his own hands, or are you going to follow along with that other woman?"
"Oh, that easy! Krog follow Ayane! She too scary to say no to!" Krog replies easily. "But Krog come back after talk to ancestors and see what they think, okay?"
That gets a third twitch, but Janna finally disengages, "Alright. I'll see you soon then, big guy!"
"Keep book! Read too! Even if we not get teleport thingie, you may still want buy and more than one!" Krog says cheerfully as he goes after Ayane the ninja girl.
Ayane was smiling, and leaning back against the wall as he walked by, having casually listened in a bit.
"You're certainly quite working on those book sales," She was oddly friendly for the moment, chitchatting as they headed to the barricaded door.
"Is best to advertise while books still easy to find! No want people to have to pay premium when book become rare find!" Krog explains.
"Do you sign them?" She wondered. "Mind breaking that down?" She gestured at the way ahead. "Tentacles and Ayane aren't allowed in the same sentence, so we'll head this way for now."
Just posting to say I'm waiting on Merc to do so or not. Also, as you should know, that leads back to the knight's domain. Fair warning.
"Krog never been asked to sign book," Krog answers. "Why?"
Let's see if Drac wants to go back to the knights that say cor then before I break anything down.
The knights that say Cor would be a fearsome menace...luckly we only face the Knights of Baron. And of course I do =p Its better than tentacles. Anyhow, not going to make another ic remark of it so do it whenever =P
"Well, to make them special editions of course," She replied in a remarkable bout of niceness. "You can sell them for more or use them to build up interest by separating the real collectors from the normal fans."
"Krog will have to think about that...Krog think it sound interesting though," the half-orc admits as he uses his strength to try and break through the wall.

Five arrows riddle Krog's body, turning him into a porcupine! Critical damage is done, as you can see a whole lot of archers readied, with spearmen supporing them. Jumping up and down is a child in gaudy clothing, "DON'T LET THEM SET A SINGLE FOOT IN THERE OR I'LL BURN YOU UP!"
Krog twitches. "Krog think we better go fight seafood," he says as blood comes out of his mouth along with his words, not to mention the blood flowing from various other wounds. "Krog getting tired of arrows..."
"Be tired later," Ayane pulled him out of the doorway rapidly and sized up the folks with a quick gaze before hiding behind cover herself, listening to them closely.
If Ayane hears spellcasting, she's going to likely dash out to stop it with an attack. Readied "Move feet Move."
Krog and Ayane fall back! As they do, they can hear the sounds of bowstrings being ready, and, "ON GUARD! IF THEY COME BA-OW! Sis!" The young boy's voice wobbles. A young girl's voice calls, "Hold your positions and reinforce the door back up!"
Ayane readies her chains. While she won't step out, if any get close enough to put the door back up, she's going to whip them into submission.
I'm pretty sure getting up that door with any kind of active swinging of chains around the area, even if effectively partial covered wouldn't be a workable task. Could be wrong though. If it really looks like they'll get to it, I'll move out and slash them up fighting defensively.
Krog begins to heal himself, using up one of his stronger spells' power to some ouchies out of the way.

Ayane waited, trusting her hearing and when they felt like they were within reach, blue blurs lashed out, her chain wildly slashing into the area in front of the door.

Ayane heard the pathetic cries of failure and steadying herself, rushed out once more, dashing low to the floor and bouncing up onto krog's shoulders before leaping off at the archers, her chains lashing out before she landed to lash out around the closest one's neck and yank him painfully down with her motion, her spin starting quickly as she dug in with one foot, continuing her painful slicing action as the chain whipped free.

"But if that's right, then they're likely up in mage heaven right now, since they're so innocent." She suggested. "If you bring them back, they'll be all unhappy with you."
"They bad kids. Bad kids no get there, that why Krog so sad," Krog replies simply. "Friend Ayane probably right that they angry...Krog did kill boy."

"Like your noble leader or your soft and easily nose broken leader? Or your lance wielding crater leader? Or perhaps the two children you were hiding behind mere moments ago? Like that?" She tried to taunt them out. "We've got their bodies here if you want to bring them back..."

"No, no, I'm afraid you're mistaken..." She started swinging around the corner.
Krog moves to heal the sadistically bloodthirsty monk girl before she goes splatter blood, likely that of those guards, and possibly some of her own. "At least she no do something crazy and rip heads off children and stick them on ends of chain..." he mutters to himself, likely intending to keep the thought internal, but perhaps making a mistake due to the communicative nature of the spell he was sacrificing to heal the girl and speaking the thought out loud.

Thanks to his good cover, the spearman is not hurt! The spearmen are getting ready, as...
Krog!
A surge of power flows through Krog, as the half orc cleric casts a spell, his muscles bulging in tandem with the roar he releases.

Hit! Ayane lashes out, her second chain blow slamming into the foolish spearman! He goes limp in the murder hole, keeled over! "Hold the line!" One of the rear soldiers calls meanwhile!
Krog.
Krog slams into the wall's side, attempting to cave it inside out, crumbling the stone and mortar atop the soldiers, letting loose a roar to let his intentions be known. "GRAAAAAH!!!"

Like paper before the scissors of the Mighty Krog, the wall crumbles into chunks at his charge! There are cries as the entire hallow space collapses, burying spearmen under rubble! One side is nicely cleared now, danger no longer! The other side, a total of three kill holes, remain, however!
"Aaaah! They're coming through the walls! Retreat!" From the far side, racing into the room where the knights and jewelled mace were, the three spearmen hastily retreat towards!
Ayane, you're up. Depending on what you guys do we may or may not go to free action.
Ayane can show mercy.
She can be a gentle dove at times if she chooses. Allowing the innocent to escape her wrath, the defeated to flee, the children to retain their lollipops. It is a necessary and important skill in convincing others sometimes to do what she wants.
Apparently though, the smiling woman appearing in front of them, her swift footsteps bringing her past their spears while they were distracted and fleeing to form a wall of sharp spinning chains hinted that today was not one of those days. Maybe they mixed up the time to flee, and missed their chance when she gave it to them.
Either way, the three faced a sharp spinning set of blades to get through if they sought to flee further.
OOC: Charging ahead of them and blocking off the path. As they're fleeing they wouldn't get AoOs, but thier full run doesn't beat my charge I'm pretty sure. Attacks would be +13 if I get one this round. AC 27, 28 against the nearest one.
With swift speed, Ayane blocks off the path for the retreating soldiers! They have spears out, but neither side isr eady to attack yet!
Krog.
"Well..." Krog states, as he stares down the armed spearmen, producing with a flourish his blade, and pointing it at the remnants of the once proud army that held down this spot. "Krog wonder...what you plan and do now?"
He holds his blade at the ready, prepared to chop down any of them if they attack him.

Ayane looks about, seeing a man in gray and black with a mask over his face against the wall, hiding in the shadows. He has short swords in each hand.
"You'd almost think there was something important here, the way they sought to protect it, giving their lives with hardly a though," she tapped her cheek, her chains twirling up her arms and wrapping up, almost hidden there as she bent over, giving a clear sight to her back and rear as she looked under the table, readying to rip both swords from the man's hand if he took the bait. "Maybe a secret lever or something? There's no mace here anymore..."
OOC: Dodge against the man AC 28. Readied Disarm at +23, and AoO Disarms on approach of the same.
So you're getting close enough to be within disarming range for him?
OOC: No, getting near the table. Though if that's disarming range, its disarming range. I was expecting him to enter disarming range on his turn, thus triggeriing both AoOs and readied attacks.
Krog picks up the unconscious soldier. "That what Krog save prisoner for! They always good for questions like that!" he says as he tosses the soldier roughly onto the room. "Ayane want ask questions? Krog get feeling you better at tying men up and then get them scream things you want hear..."
Okay, then I'll rule you're about 20 feet away from the hiding man there.
As Krog picks up the knocked out soldier like a bundle to be carried, Ayane can see the man watch. He seems transfixed for several seconds, not immediately charging Ayane.
Ayane continues searching around, her motions almost strangely teasing to the watching assassin. The young woman certainly having plenty experience in making others watch where she's going and not what she's doing. She tapped around the floor near the table, pretending to check for hidden pressure plates hidden there, her chains coiled about her fingers, ready to erupt in a deadly weave at a moments twitch.
OOC: Holding my readied action. Though if he stays transfixed for too long, I might just wander over there and take advantage of the free shot.
Watching, Ayane can see the sneak carefully putting away one of his short swords, withdrawing a little spiked shiruken...
Ball's largely in your court right now, Ayane.
Noticing, she let out the slightest bit of a sigh before suddenly flipping backwards towards him in an alluring and swift display of backflips, her motion ever difficult to follow as she quickly and suddenly closed with him, her chain wrapping around his sword to pull it from his hand.

Krog.
Krog briefly closes his eyes, before reopening them with a glow of power inside them as he mutters a spell, his pupils slightly contracted as he stares at the figures, attempting to discern which is the real one, believing this to be a spell of some sort.
Detect Magic
Krog sees the magic around! First of all, the short sword lying on the ground has magic. Second of all, the warrior himself has magic, but it doesn't seem to help him figure out which one is which! His other equipment may or may not be magical, but Krog cannot tell with the current magic cast!
Ayane.
Standing on the outside, Ayane began her deadly spin! No wait, that's Valvalis's trick... oh wait, Ayane doesn't care about ripoffs. As always, a blue mist seemed to surround her as she reached her full twirling speed, moving towards him dangerously.

CLANG! CLUNG! Two heavy blows send the ninja reeling and wobbling! Pinned back now and growling. "Baaaaabe..." he breaths out, "Sorry 'bout this!" OOC - He's starting to cast and can't tumble back, so he's in AoO range. AoO?

With a quick retort, his motions are stopped! With a crack he collapses, unmoving after a third chain blow to his delicate body!
Free action.
"What a jerk. Poison of all things," She rubbed her arm, checking back on Krog. "Did he get you with it too?"
"Weak sting thing poisoned? Krog no feel different," Krog replies with a shrug. "Guess Krog immune to what used?"
"...Maybe. Hardly living perhaps?" She shrugged. "Anyhow...Let's haul knightmaster Z off and head back. I want to wait until I get this poison out of my system."
"We check room first for stuff?" Krog recommends, given they haven't done such yet. He sheathes his sword, and looks around, before going, "A hah!"
"A hah?" Ayane swiftly gave a kick to the dead ninja before looting his stuff into krog's cart.
"Krog almost forget prisoner!" Krog exclaims as he stands atop the unconscious soldier he threw into the room earlier. He goes to grab said prisoner, and tosses him onto the cart atop the not-quite-yet-rotting carcasses of two dead children. If he should wake up, he'd probably go right back to unconscious land at the sight. Or alert them he's awake from the screams. Either way works!
That done, Krog begins to scope out the room, looking for treasure and secret passageways, or whatnot.
"Can't you carry those separately?" She looked at them and sighed, what a disgusting habit.
"If Krog carry them, who carry cart?" Krog's pragmatic response is given with a small shrug. "They only dead for few minutes anyhow. They no smell yet."
The main thing of note on the ninja are 3 more shirukens and his twinned short swords. Otherwise, he's a dead ninja, quite nastily maimed. An Ayane special, if you will.
Search mods, or are you taking 10/20?
An Ayane special is clearly the right way to put it.
Ayane took her time searching the room.
OOC: Take 20. None of us are able to be search tanks so this'll probably be common.
taking 20, aye.
The room isn't too large. Tossing it from top to bottom doesn't cause any overt difficulties, but it does take about twenty minutes. Nestled under the wooden table is a tiny metal switch.
"Want to drop off this stuff we have before we try this?" She wondered at Krog.
"On one hand...Krog no want leave and come back and have to kill more namby pamby idiots..." Krog says with a frown. "On other hand, Ayane hurt, right? Krog still fine, so no care."
Ayane nodded. "Yeah, I don't want to risk aggravating that poison," She rubbed her arms a bit and kicked his dead body again. "Come on," She lead back towards the entrance.
The party returns up without incident! Lord German awaits...who sniffs the air as you enter in and stares. "AHEM." he clears his throat, "If you don't want me to raise someone, would you NOT bring corpses outtof the dungeon?"
"No kidding," She shrugged. "Anyhow...Krog, do your special stuff and figure out which of this stuff is magical?"
Krog nods, quickly checking what items they'd want to get identified, ignoring the comment about corpses for now. Not like he's doing anything the king man doesn't want after all!
He does want to raise the children back to life and teach them the right way to live!
Under Krog's careful eye, surely they would become successful and productive members of society! He'd just need to make sure Ayane didn't corrupt their malleable little minds too much...
Didn't you keep a list of magical good you got like last time, Krog?
Ninja had only 3 shurikens, 2 short swords.
On the boy:
One knife. It was flying at Krog for a brief period, notably.
One pendant, shaped like half of a moon.
One pair of bracers.
On the girl:
One dagger(Thrown at Krog. Ow.)
One pendant, shaped like half of a moon.
One pair of slippers.
Shurikens aren't magical, just poisoned. No ID cost there.
Short swords are magical, as is all the gear from the twins. That's 8 items to identify in all, for a total of...1600 GP. Who's paying?
We'll id them all. We've got enough but we'll probably pay out of the amount they are worth to sell

Ayane glanced over the now known pile. "Well, that's a pretty profitable spell," She observed of Lord German. "You want to keep any of this, Krog?"
"Mmmm..." Lord German eyes the pile, "Remember, you owe me for the identification!"
"Pendants sound fun. Rest, not so," Krog replies with a shrug.
Ayane nodded and smiled, pulling the slippers from the stack and the pendants.
"Of course, Lord German...it wouldn't be in our interest to cheat you, would it? You still have that cloak you mentioned last time, yes?" She pushed forward the rest of it. "And you'll buy this of course for the rates you just suggested."
Splitting the gold between them, 1600 gp going German and a pile of magical items, she held up a bag of 36000 gp as offered trade for the cloak.
Lord German nods, eyeing the bag of money. "Ooooooooooh! It's done then! Just pass it over and get the bodies outta here! You're ruining the dungeon ecology, now the next necromancer is going to be skeletonless!"
"Not my business," She smirked, taking the colorful cloak and twirling a bit as she tried it on. "If you want to convince him to drop them, talk to him," She shrugged.
"Uhm, Krog want to know if can bring kids back from dead? Krog no like killing children. Adults, Krog no have problem with. Kids, though..." Krog asks.
Lord German straightens, looking at the two kids. "I could, if it's worth my while..." he says, as he rubs his hands together.
"Krog give king-man free copy of Krog's book!" Krog offers, saying the first thing to come to mind.
"Oh, that's very nice of you," Lord German's eyebrow twitches, "However, the reality of the situation is that I would prefer money as well. I have to pay the bills so I can get another gold plated ba-er, I mean, so I can maintain my castle."
"Hmmm...can king-man do something so children no need spankings from Krog? Krog no want to spend money and still have to discipline..." Krog asks.
"Oh, brain washing?" Lord German rubs his hands together, "Why yes, we do brain washing as well! Tell me, do you want them to be nice, pliant and servile? Or do you just want them not to want to kill you for killing them? I can do either or something else!"
Ayane glanced over at krog, keeping her thoughts on his disgusting hobbies to herself. She'd always heard orcs and halforcs were strange folks, but clearly the tales didn't bear the half of it. Taking children as brainwashed slaves? Ripping their mates apart? At least he was relatively good at staying alive and humorous when not working on his disgusting little hobbies. Maybe she could push them off into that squid creature or something. Brr.
Settling herself down by the wall, she took advantage of the free inn. Or seat, listening but focusing on driving the poison from her body.
"Krog no want wash so much as just rinse..." Krog looks conflicted. Lord German is confusing him. Brainwashing? That just sounds...evil. Krog just wants to teach these youths the correct path to shine as warriors of truth, love and justice!
He looks towards Ayane, for her thoughts on the matter. Whatever opinion she has, the opposite is probably what he should do... "What right thing Krog should do?"
Glancing up at the lost half-orc, she considered. Well, it really wasn't in her best interest to have him caterwauling over every dead mageling that happened to cross their path. Perhaps...
"Hmm... Lord German, a dumpish woman in there mentioned that pretty much everything in the dungeon is a spirit or monster in truth. Is that so?"
"Oh yes! Kill, kill, kill and kill some more! After all, you're here for riches and money anyway, aren't you? There's no harm beating up phantasms and spirits...but hey!" Turning to Krog with a winning smile, "Don't let that stop you from raising these two! I'll be glad to do it for a low, low price of 10,000 gold coins!"
Krog blinks. "Krog confused. So...kids not kids even if look like kids and act as kids?" Krog scratches his forehead. "Or still kids, just, uh, spirit kids instead of human kids?"
He then frowns. "Maybe just talk to bodies, and get answers there..."
I'm planning on adding Speak with Dead to list of spells whenever that resets, unless convinced otherwise before that.
"Suit yourself - just do not keep those bodies in the castle!" Lord German waves a hand, "Next you'll be inviting the dungeon slimes and acid cubes in for tea! No!"
Ayane smirked and responded somewhat sardonically "Why, Lord German, I'm certain the acid cubes would love your tea time revelry."
Her purpose achieved she pondered somewhat on this. He certainly did seem rather gleeful. Almost too much so. She would have to be wary of just what kind of trap this dungeon might be. But until then, it remained a wonderful place to improve her skills. It had been years since anyone had managed to so much as land a punch on her. Given, rubbing her shoulder as she did, such punches didn't include poison on them.
Want to move along to using speak dead, Krog?
Aye!
Huddled back in the start of the dungeon, Krog casts Speak with Dead!

The boy's body twitches, magic bridging the gap between life and death! From his mouth comes, "Ask of me what you will, living one..." The voice is like a soft sight into the night, unchallenging. "What do you wish of me to bring me back beyond the horizon?"
Krog shivers. "Krog hate how they always speak weird," he complains out loud, even if the comment isn't for anyone in particular.
Pausing he looks at the animated corpse, and asks, "Krog want know if boy and sister wish to come back to life, first. Would kids be willing to if given chance?"
Ayane opened an eye. "You might want to make sure they wouldn't want to come back just to kill you."
"Who wants to come back to a place of discord and humiliation?" The twin intones in vastness, it's voice like the wind tugging at your ears.
Krog sniffles. "Krog saddened...why kids think this place of discord and humiliation? Krog no understand. So much to do in world..." He bemoans.
"Pain...death...the twin brides you married us to..." The young mage's corpse jerks at that, like a marionette jerked too hard. "Your chastisement was the gateway."
Krog looks even more confused and he looks to Ayane, as if wanting ideas on what to ask.
She considered, guessing his intent. "Ask about the switch...and the passageway beyond. And whoever is in charge of them."
The half orc cleric nods after thinking on the matter a bit. The kids don't want to come back, and following up on what was said would likely make his brain hurt more.
Turning to the corpse, he makes his questions based on Ayane's suggestions. "If Krog flip switch in room, where Krog end up if follow up on switch result?" Krog asks. "Who left for Krog and Ayane to fight?"
"The switch drains the path of fire to a path of radiance, beyond the path of water." The child murmurs, body jerking once before going still at hearing Krog's last question. "Knight Master Z, the greatest of the great. You will join us if you challenge him."
With that, the corpse goes still.
Krog scratches his head, and he looks to Ayane again. "...Krog no sure, but that what guy we kill before come back call himself, right?" Krog asks.
Thus the night of rest passes without incident. The party has recovered and replenished stocks, recharging spells as well. Now they stand at the bottom of the gravelly hill, the three paths awaiting.
Ayane stretches a bit, seeming a bit here... a bit there. With her new cloak it was a little hard to tell. "No more bringing back dead bodies this time, okay Krog?" More concerned really about the smell than anything else.
She lead down the knight's path, keeping her eyes peeled for ambushes. They'd done it before and she wouldn't put it past them having more up their sleeve. If she gets to the table room, she'll flick the switch and take a look at what's down the next pathway that they fled from ...mere days ago.
For reference, what's your spot mod, Ayane?
17. Ayane is a mean spotting/listening machine.
> roll 1d20+17
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+17 and gets 24." [1d20=7]
The front area of the knighthood is abandoned, silent. Ayane sees nothing of note as she goes there with Krog, reaching the table room without incident.
She flicks the switch, taking a moment to glance ahead down the next corridor and see if there's an ambush waiting for them. Krog must be pondering over the kids, but that was none of her business.
Krog sighs. "No more dead bodies," he agrees, as he looks around, waiting to see the effect of the flipped switch.
I'm back and now with less flu and pneumonia!
The switch is flicked! There is a loud click heard from all around, then the ground shakes! It's a soft shaking, nothing too heavy. But as if from far away, you can hear the sound of fluid moving. A hissing, really.
Ayane quirks her head a bit listening. "Perhaps its back the other way...or further down. Hard to say." She glanced ahead cautiously, proceeding, if the corridor is empty, down past where they had their very first battle a few days ago.
Krog merely shrugs his massive shoulders, and follows after Ayane, prepared for more devious traps and combat.
Ahead, Krog and Ayane find the great hall empty! At last, no resistance to going deeper into the knight's hold. Farther in, you come to the far end. Here there is a bank of curtains on the wall, but otherwise it looks to like a dead end to a casual look.
With a swish of her chain, she sliced down the bank of curtains, taking the safe way of seeing what was behind them with a good distance between her and it.
"I think they might've run out of knights," She smirked, a bit self satisified at that.
The curtains are cut down easily, white and red sliced away. Behind them is a narrow, dark hallway, sloping slightly downward. It goes farther than you can easily see.
Ayane looked around the room for a moment, trying to make sure she wasn't missing treasure or hidden passageways. "C'mon krog," She urged the orcman to do more helping out and less watching.
OOC: Flavor, just want to do a search check and then a glance down the hallway next post :) then wait for merc.
> roll 1d20
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20 and gets 6." [1d20=6]
Ayane pokes around but finds nothing of note in the area.
"You'd think there'd be something worth defending in this place. At least, with the way they defended it to the death." She stepped down, walking a bit into the descending corridor to take a look.
OOC: If it becomes too dark, append this line:
"Let's see..." She reaches into her pack...then her pockets. Then checks a few other spots. "I can't believe I forgot a torch. Krog, did you bring one?"
OOC: Append if Ayane appends. Otherwise, Krog really has nothing to add at this time.
"Krog no need one. Krog see just fine..." Krog replies. "So why would Krog carry stuff that give enemies warning Krog comes?"
The passage ahead stays dim but viewable. It goes for 100 feet or so, until you come out to a large arch. There's something ahead, but it's currently pitch black-dark.
"You... huh, I remember hearing orc's had good vision, never guessed it was that good. What can you see in there, Krog? I can't see a thing."
Krog squints his eyes as he places the palm of his hand above his eyebrows, staring deep into the darkness.
Strangely, the darkness resists Krog's darkvision completely. How odd.
Sorry about the delay, getting back into the groove.
Krog blinks and rubs his eyes. "Strange? Has Krog spent too much time with humans?" he mutters to himself, squinting harder.
"What's wrong, Krog? What do you see?" Ayane waits.
The way ahead is indeed pitch dark to Krog. His eyes seem to be working fine, or at least Krog thinks so?
"Just...dark. Nothing ahead," Krog replies, sounding a bit confused. "Krog no see wall or anything, even."
"Is it magical darkness, Krog? Can you tell that? We might need to get some tools to head this way," She worried...mostly about having to buy such from that crook up at the top.
Krog shrugs. "Well, Krog no can see, so if had to guess..."
"Well, if magic, Krog can try and break, but not be able break no more stuff after!" the half orc cleric warns before grinning. "Well, unless muscles can break anyhow."
He laughs slightly, as if he'd made a grand joke.
"Well...let's find out then," She retorted impatiently.
Krog closes his eyes, and reopens them with power glowing in them after a few incantations from him, his eyes searching for tendrils of magic to help him see the exact situation at hand.
ooc: det magic
Krog sees there is magic coming from the darkness.
"Yup! Krog see magic. So what think? Should Krog try and get rid of magic?" The half orc asks Ayane for her opinion.
"Well...why not?" She shrugged.
The cleric grins as he hears this answer, and he promptly begins to summon the mystical power he wields, shaping it into a bolt of power to fire into unstabilize the magic currently impeding their path. "Krog shoot magic into dark then!"
ooc: dispel magic, not magic missiles.
> roll 1d20+7

Ow.
Krog's magic is mighty, but it cannot bowl over the darkness here. Instead, it stays intact, almost tauntingly so.
"Well, ...?" Ayane sort of stared, waiting for some effect. She wasn't a wizard or anything after all.
Krog growls. "Strong magic! Krog power cannot break...grrr..." he seems uncharacteristically annoyed with this failure. Perhaps all the recent success with his crazy magical ventures has gone to his head or something.
AS the party talks, they hear a loud thump from the darkness. Like metal hitting something solid, like perhaps stone?
Ayane glanced inward. "Lets step back a bit and see if whatever is making that noise comes out. Heyo, evil creature of causing horrendous pain, please bring your treasure with you," she taunted and hightailed it back to the room with the curtains, keeping an eye out from a corridor back.
OOC: I think there was a corridor between the curtains and the darkness, if not, one room further back :)
Krog unsheathes his trusty weapon. "Maybe if we smash it, darkness goes away?" the half orc ponders outloud, mostly to himself, as he keeps step with his current partner.
The thumping sounds a few more times, louder and louder! It sounds like something really big is coming! Massive! Gigantic! Each step is closer, metal on stone echoing throughout! The darkness is starting to shake!
"Somehow...I get the sensation that I don't want to be here," She smiled. "I suspect you don't either. Let's retreat to behind the barricade and see it as it comes."
Her swift feet followed her words moments later.
Krog nods. While he has much faith in his mighty muscles, dying is not an experience he wishes to repeat any time soon. Preferably ever again, even. And what could a little caution hurt? Speaking of which, Krog casts a spell in preparation of upcomming battle.
ooc: Divine Power
As the two hide and Krog uses the POWER OF KROG to strengthen himself? They can see ahead, and from the darkness it comes! It's a smallish man, with a fearsome black beard. He wears armor head to toe, but not any armor! It's designed to the maximum, with little machines and steam vents all over. A fearsome, crackling hammer is in his hands, electric power running through it. He looks about once and twice, before starting to come forward...
Staring briefly at the strange individual, for he was quite strange, Ayane did the logical thing for a slow moving small creature covered in machinery.
She started throwing shurikens at anything that looked like it would break, jam, or pull the thing inside for painful pain on pain.
Not that she knew what it was, but but if it moved, it could be thrown at, and so the rain of swiftly flung little metal knives carrened downwards at the approaching mechaman.
List your attack value, Ayane. Remember to do that, it makes a laz-er, a GM happier! >_>

Looking out, Ayane hurled shirukens at the armored man! The first two bounce off his armor, falling to the ground with a hollow clink! The last is better aimed, embedding somewhere above the waist of the armor. A bit more steam comes out from a new opening. "Ooooh ho ho ho? Did I feel a little scratch?" the armored man bellows.
Ayane's rain of circular throwing knives continues in answer, attempting to disable the strange mechanized armor.
OOC: Ayane is gonna keep 10/10/5'ing unless he gets much closer. 1d2. Yeah, it's no real effect, but we've got a barricade between us and him and no reason not to plink at him annoyingly.

With the power of KROG, the armored man drops his hammer and collapses! The sudden assault was too much for him to take, his armor falling apart in a hiss of steam as his body hits the ground!
Wow, maimed. Free action.
Ayane blinked and high fived Krog at that before recovering herself. "I mean...good job, Krog," She looked over the guy. "A bit surprising that he came at us alone...can you go see if the darkness is gone now?"
She checked over the body for loot after saying so, looking especially for anything that seemed like a lens or googles to see in the dark, since he'd clearly walked here without tripping through that section and he didn't seem to be a mage.
The armor's toast. It's fallen apart, some sort of mechanical contraption. The large hammer he was holding crackles with electricity - it looks dangerous to touch.
Krog looks at his hand that was high fived, then at Ayane, confused by the ritual, enough to let go of his anger somewhat at having been treated like he was by the tin man. "Why friend Ayane smack Krog hand?" he asks, ignoring the request for the moment, genuinely curious at the action.
"...I got excited. Wait...have you never encountered such a gesture? It's pretty common as a sort of 'you did well' one."
"Really? Krog only ever see humans smack each other in bars, but just thought they drunk. Huh...Krog learn something new everyday..." he says with a tone of wonder, as he finally goes do as originally requested and check on the state of the magical darkness.
"Probably a different kind of smacking, Krog. Open palm to open palm, good. Fist to face, not good."
Krog stops, frowning, and turns around. "Wait, Krog confused now. What about if one use palm but not to palm and other the uses palm, but again not to palm?" The half orc looks confused again.
"Probably bad. Generally, if they're hitting people in the body, it's not a positive gesture," She remarked, somewhat biased there.
"Aaah..." Krog nods as he goes back to what he was doing.
The hammer on the ground crackles with lighting. It doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. At least it's silent past that - no archers to aid the sole soldier.
OOC: Um, Ana, any sign of the darkness clearing up? Krog was going to check that?
The darkness is still there, very dark and very ominous. At least no thumping sounds come from it this time.
Ayane checks if the man was wearing any kind of special gloves to carry the hammer.
