Title: What are people watching these days? The october take
Post by: Dracos on October 23, 2008, 02:15:40 PM
I've suddenly had a 'huh, what anime is there to watch?' moment.

It is WEIRD.  I was following Slayers Revolutions and Blade of the Immortal.  And a bit of bleach.

Oh, bleach I think ended its filler.

But seriously, what cool shit is in the pipe that folks are actually paying attention to?  I haven't heard anything that said I AM AWESOME, WATCH ME MORTALS.

That would be because this season sucks. Outside of Detroit Metal City and Kemeko DX it has been a pretty bland offering. I'm especially disappointed in the Yozora Quartet adaptation. Reading the manga put my expectations too high, apparently. If you liked Clannad there is more of that. If you liked Gundam 00 there is more of that.

Shikabanehime Aka is about the only thing that sticks out, and that is mostly for the potential rather than what they've actually produced.

On the other hand, I've now had time to catch up on some older series and play games. I think I've bought more games this year than the last 2-3 combined.

Sooo, silver lining and all that.

I've not been following anything. This season strikes me as mediocre, but so it goes.

Guess so.

It has been a good gaming season.

I honestly haven't been watching anything new, either, although that's admittedly mainly due to work, as there's a list somewhere of prospective shows. Oh, work, and not having any free storage space until those bastards at NewEgg get their asses in gear.

Other than that, I'm watching a few old things I haven't seen yet with friends: Gurren-Lagann, Outlaw Star, and Ghost in the Shell SAC 1st season (which I have seen, but they haven't).

I also have lots of stuff sitting on DVDs or hard drives, such as Moyashimon or Windy Tales. Someday...

I finished (from last season) Yakushiji no Kaiki Jikenbo, which started off as being awesome and got slowly cheesier as the series progressed. I also need to finish the last few eps of Tetsuwan Birdy: Decode.
