Title: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on September 23, 2009, 01:18:48 AM
Because we need more exited girls bouncing around.

---

Things found on the ruined githyanki astral ship:

A box full of hard rations like dried berries, jerky and other essential food items.
A map of a city in the Astral sea, covered with Gith writing.
A pile of gold, silver and copper coins.
A red leather book THAT SPITS 1d4+13 FIRE.
5 silver bars stamped with a symbol of dwarves from the Plane of Earth.
A set of interlocking gears that move on their own from Mechanus.
A dried fig set in a shell of hard amber.
A scroll of knock.
A blue teardrop amulet.

Blue teardrop amulet: Amulet of tears, 4600 GP. As per MIC page 70. (Note: I generally increase MIC prices as I find them to be lowballed. This one's doubled.)

I'd say no to keeping the map. Too much possibility for that to turn out bad.

Mari might keep the gears out of sheer perversity, because it would amuse her to hang on to a curio from possibly the plane she is least suited for.

We should get the currency valued, definately.

As for the knicknacks, honestly, I have no idea what to do with them. However, since they were possessed by githyanki... I'm not sure we should keep them if we're trying to avoid unwanted attention. I mean, it's obviously important to someone.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!

If you want to get things sold, you'll need to get them appraised first. Appraisal can be done if any of you have ranks in Appraisal and roll decent or paying someone trained to do it. You can sell without appraising, but you'll be casting a line out there and hoping you get it right. If you want to do any of that, post so and I'll go into details.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Sierra on October 07, 2009, 01:54:29 PM
Since no one took ranks in appraise, I'm assuming that we'll be paying someone to do it for us. We've surely got enough money between us for that, and unless those silver bars are counterfeit or something, selling them will almost certainly offset the cost of the appraisal.

Rat: I'm mostly down with ditching githyanki stuff, but man, I want to keep that amulet. >.> Map could just as well get burned though, if we took it with us. That's not something I want to found with.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!

There's an appraiser in town. His fee is 2% of the value of the item appraised. A 100 GP item would require a 2 GP payment, for example.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Sierra on October 07, 2009, 02:39:14 PM
Sounds reasonable to me, assuming no one else in the party has objections.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on October 07, 2009, 02:39:39 PM
What all is getting appraised, by the way?
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Sierra on October 07, 2009, 02:44:39 PM
I'd assume the bars of silver since that's the obvious "sell" item. It's not like we benefit much form hauling them around, after all. Beyond that, I dunno. Depends on what other people want to keep/sell.

Did we ever get a specific amount for that pile of coins?
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on October 07, 2009, 02:45:50 PM
No. It would be a trivial task to count them:  137 gold coins, 329 silver coins, 55 copper coins.

So I have the silver bars. Anything else to be appraised, guys?
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Dracos on October 07, 2009, 02:59:47 PM
Fine. That works, probably only them.

Nikkolai should take the scroll of knock.

and back soom

Okay, silver bars being appraised...

Silver Trade Bars: These are of Earth Elemental stamping but they're of a standard denomination for trade bars: 50 GP each bar. Most trading spots on the planes will take these on face value. 250 GP total.

Current loot count:

A box full of hard rations like dried berries, jerky and other essential food items.
A map of a city in the Astral sea, covered with Gith writing.
137 gold coins, 329 silver coins, 55 copper coins from the gith ship.
A red leather book THAT SPITS 1d4+13 FIRE.
5 silver trade bars with 50 GP each.
A set of interlocking gears that move on their own from Mechanus.
A dried fig set in a shell of hard amber.
A scroll of knock.
Amulet of Tears: 4,600 GP.

Expenses:

Silver bars appraisal: 5 sunsets(5 GP).
Identify for Amulet of Tears: 100 GP.

Post by: Dracos on October 07, 2009, 03:24:28 PM
Mari is taking the Amulet, let's remove that from the list.

Someone sum and divide the gold, minus expenses:

282 gp, 329 sp, 55 cp  / 5

We'll take the rations, Knight can do the carrying officialities.

Burn the map.

I've taken the book.

Mari shall take the gears.

Throw out the amber as no one has asked for it and Knight has a good point.

Revised:
282 gp, 329 sp, 55 cp   (SPLIT into 5)

Put on Sheet:
Mari: Amulet of Tears: 4,600 GP, A set of interlocking gears that move on their own from Mechanus.
Knight: A box full of hard rations like dried berries, jerky and other essential food items.
Nikkolai: A scroll of knock.

Boom, done or something.

also, not listed, but I took a few gold coins off for what I gave to Adail to give to whoever the nearby manager type is for the stables when telling them we'll be doing a performance near the stables.  That was out of my gold, not the total here.

Nikkolai gets a Singing Rock Necklace.  Due to the serene hum of the necklace, it grants a +2 bonus to concentration checks and to will saves. It's music can be very calming when focused on.

Mari gets 2,000 GP. (She got two shares.)

Kamvakua gets a scroll of Righteous Might.

Knight gets 1,000 GP.

Huh?  Why?

Screw party debts.  Seriously.  It's a headache and a half.  That's why I encouraged us just having a tally of our current value for ko to eyeball for wealth versus expected wealth.

You don't even get to play with your horse yet.

This. Adail cares for wealth far far less then he should(and no, he's really not going to get better about that~).

But yeah, don't worry about it at all. Adail doesn't care and so long as my share of the wealth is going to make someone in the party cooler, I don't either. Knight getting a pegasus is pretty much >>>> anything that cash could do for me, y'know?

Salamander bag of coins: 43 GP in gold, silver and copper coins. Also comes in a small coin bag if you need one!

The bribe: Salamander bag of coins: 43 GP in gold, silver and copper coins. Also comes in a small coin bag if you need one!

The leader's loot:

A longspear(magical)
A sealed metal tube with a sheet of paper inside which reads the following: "By order of Judge Sin and signed by Protocal Agent Likra, the holder of this note is authorized to proceed into Firegorge Path."
A small black leather bag tied with white stitching(magical).
A small purple rock.

Da goons:

4 longspears.
329 GP
457 SP
139 CP
5 PP
One agate stone
One quartz-like gemstone
A twin figurine of an pair of erinyes doing naughty things with each other
A small bit of stitched silk with gold thread.
4 empty pouches.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!

I'll ID the spear, and the bag.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on December 16, 2009, 03:26:36 AM
-100 GP.

Magmacore:  While in Magma or whenever it's within 30 feet of lava or magma, this spear becomes a Longspear+3 with a threat range of 19-20. Outside of Magma it functions as a longspear+1. If the spear is willingly broken in two(Or sundered in combat), a great gush of lava engulfs everyone within 30 feet, dealing 10d6 points of lava damage, then an additional 1d6 damage for the next 3 rounds. A reflex save DC 19 halves the initial damage.

Protective Bag: This bag feeds on life force to be stronger. Should someone attempt to open it without the proper word, it deals a point of damage to them. It feeds on this blood, making the bag almost impossible to open for 24 hours. A DC 30 disable device check can open the bag. If forced, the bag has 100 hit points and hardness 25, with immunity to fire. When not empowered, it is a normal bag that can be broken or torn as any other.

The white string's also coated with a knockout poison, by the way.

Post by: Sierra on December 16, 2009, 03:32:22 AM
Mari has like 2k gold right now, other people can take the cash if they need it (I just got an unexpected bonus from Granny anyway, so).

I can't help but think the purple rock might be important for some reason (leader had it and all). Guessing we can sell the other stones. Erinyes statue has to be kept for possible hilarity.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Dracos on December 16, 2009, 01:13:32 PM
So, sell:

4 longspears.
One agate stone
One quartz-like gemstone
A small bit of stitched silk with gold thread.
4 empty pouches.

Yeah, we probably should keep the purple stone.  We probably should NOT keep the Erinyes statue, but yes, possible hillarity.  :P

Mari, are you up to the disable check on the bag?  (And please wear gloves)
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on December 16, 2009, 02:28:56 PM
You'd need to appraise the gemstone and agate before you sell them, unless you wanna trust what someone may give you for them. You can seek out an appraiser in town if you wish.

Post by: Sierra on December 16, 2009, 02:37:30 PM
Sounds good to me, Dune. Not getting cheated, yay.

I could try disable device, but I need at least a 14 to pull it off. Bad odds. Is taking 20 an option?
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on December 16, 2009, 02:40:38 PM
There is an appraiser in town! He charges 3% of the item's value to appraise. That okay with you guys?

It isn't, unless you don't mind failing over and over and over. Take 20 assumes you can make mistakes and keep going.

I'm inclined to say skip the bag and worry about it when we have more time to spare, really. Like, sometime when Mari getting poisoned and knocked out for 24 hours won't set back group plans.

Fine polished quartz: 43 GP.

Mmm.

It deals 1 point of damage and absorbs blood if tried to open.  Does it do that with the string?  Does it still do that if, say, we gently cut the bottom out with a knife when its in its non-defensive state?

It'd destroy one magical item, for sure, but, it would let us at whatever said magical item was protecting, which odds are to be more valuable at least informationwise.  It's somewhat hard to even sell right now, given it's a magic item with something in it that we don't know how to open.  Was someone looking for a poisoned bag of hiding precious really?
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on December 16, 2009, 11:23:15 PM
Nothing about the identify indicates that this would fail when the bag isn't charged, though it would most likely destroy it as well. As for the contents inside, that depends on the contents.

Checking on the bottom.  How heavy does the bag seem?  Can we make any guess from touch on what's inside?  Whether its solid stuff or soft or paperish?

No objection to the sell and divvy plan. Also kinda agreeing with Cid on the bag, though I won't shed any tears if Kam just cuts it open.

It's a bit heavy and fairly smooth - more like a solid object rather than something loose. It's firm to the prodding, though it has a slight bit of give if you keep poking it.

Post by: Dracos on December 17, 2009, 02:02:32 AM
Well, of course I'm assuming I can get it out without breaking it.  there's a little give, it's a solid object.  A careful cut should release it.  A penny-ante knife should be up to the job.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on December 17, 2009, 01:02:22 PM

Post by: Anastasia on December 17, 2009, 02:03:57 PM
Kam slices open the bag! From inside you find the following:

A small but firm brick of gray...material. You aren't quite sure what it is offhand. It's faintly warm to the touch, like flesh. If you poke it for a few seconds it starts to give way, but it's otherwise solid and firm.

Atop the brick is a small bag. Inside are several clear cut green gemstones. These would need to be appraised.

It radiates faint magic, necromancy.

Soul: This is a soul shaped into a brick of semi-alive matter. Within lies the tormented spirit of a mortal who was damned to Baator. To evil outsiders such souls are of considerable value, used as currency and power.  Any of you can make K:P or K:R checks here to learn more if you wish.

Also, if you want the gems priced someone agree to pay for appraisal.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Carthrat on December 18, 2009, 09:37:23 AM
Is it actually being, uh, tormented as we speak? I don't think Knight actually has an opinion on souls and will defer to the others in the party on what to do with it. We could even discuss it IC, it'll be fun and stuff.

Also, I will pay the appraisal price. I am also curious about what's for sale, if anything, in Hardsoil; I am in the market for magical ranged weapons (of any kind) and have a shiny magical spear to barter for them~

Yeah, I expect for that thing to make for an interesting conversation next session. I made a K:P roll this morning (Dune was in the room, but I think he'd gone idle; hopefully this is okay, but it probably hardly matters given the result) but it was horrible (1d20+10 came up 13. Ew) so I don't expect Mari to know anything useful about it.

Emeralds: 2,500 GP total. That's a 75 GP charge for appraisal. Thank you!

There could be some shopping around done, but I'd prefer to do this IC.

As for the soul, Mari whiffed and Knight simply doesn't have the requisite knowledge to tell. Any of the rest of you can make an K:P check for info on this. (Besides Mari, who already tried.)

Zeph: The soul within was damned to Baator through the deeds of his or her mortal life.  But before being tossed into the Lake of Fire or stripped down to a soul shell, it was instead transformed into this form by Baatezu hands. Within and suffering every moment is a Lawful Evil soul, reduced to mere currency. It could be traded for considerable value to a fiend.

A speak with the dead spell or other such magics on the brick could allow you to learn about the soul within, as could various divination magics. Most souls used in this manner are unremarkable mortals; stronger ones aren't frittered away as mere currency. Dark rituals can use the soul as a source of power, but defiling a soul as such is evil and will greatly stain your spirit with darkness.

Gate: The soul within was damned to Baator through the deeds of his or her mortal life.  But before being tossed into the Lake of Fire or stripped down to a soul shell, it was instead transformed into this form by Baatezu hands. The soul within likely laments it's fate, it could be possible to set it on a path to salvation as a Hellbred. You would need a celestial sponsor for it and they'd be reborn without memories of their past life. Otherwise, you could destroy the brick and the soul would fly back to Baator.  As a celestial, you'd know that this mortal made their choices and ended up here, what you choose to do now is up to Adail.

Kamvakua isn't religious enough to know any of that, but he'd argue toward destroying it if asked, but wouldn't push the matter as long as we weren't planning on:
A)Keeping it.
B)Using it as currency.

Dune: I might try and grab you for shopping on Monday around the usual gametime, if you're not busy, since I actually have the day off due to an exam in the morning (which gives lie to my earlier statements, yes.)

I am going to take the spear and the golds acquired from the emeralds and see if I can get my hands on a decent bow. I don't have any other purchasing plans, but will keep an eye on the market for shiny things.

Are you absconding with 'all' of the loot, Rat? :P  That sounds a bit uncool, needing a magic bow or not.

Clearing up remaining loot (This factors in all spent IDing or Appraisals from the profits gained, if anyone reduced their own gold earlier, why did you do that~):

demonic soul brick - Adail to destroy probably?

Magmacore:  While in Magma or whenever it's within 30 feet of lava or magma, this spear becomes a Longspear+3 with a threat range of 19-20. Outside of Magma it functions as a longspear+1. If the spear is willingly broken in two(Or sundered in combat), a great gush of lava engulfs everyone within 30 feet, dealing 10d6 points of lava damage, then an additional 1d6 damage for the next 3 rounds. A reflex save DC 19 halves the initial damage. - Taken by Knight?  Probably?

A sealed metal tube with a sheet of paper inside which reads the following: "By order of Judge Sin and signed by Protocal Agent Likra, the holder of this note is authorized to proceed into Firegorge Path." - Taken by  Kamvakua

2382 GP rounded down to the nearest gp for ease.

A small purple rock.  - Taken by Mari?
A twin figurine of an pair of erinyes doing naughty things with each other - Taken by Mari?

~~~~~~~~~~
Anyhow, Kamvakua is probably fine with it from a narrative standpoint as you could use a stronger bow, just smack at just doing it :P.  At least play out a bit saying you need one~ before swiping anything with GP tag attached to it from the loot pile :)
Mari will totally take the naughty statue just for comedy value.
I don't think anyone in particular claimed the purple rock. Still dunno what to make of it; maybe someone in town would recognize what it is?
Really think we should talk IC about what to do with soul brick because...well, seriously, we found a SOUL BRICK. It's just fucked up conceptually and deserves mention in-game. Destroying it is probably the least interesting thing to do with it. Exploiting it is flat out evil, though. I'd like to see what Adail wants to do, really,
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Dracos on December 19, 2009, 01:37:53 AM
I'm fine with that.  I just tend to think everything should, in reasonable order, get listed on someone's sheet and out of a loot pile.  It's like I'll hand that writ to whoever needs/wants it, but a clear loot pile is something that at least we don't risk carry-over between adventures.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: VySaika on December 19, 2009, 01:40:55 PM
Adail will want to keep it until we can manage to get to one of the Upper Planes and yeah he'll go talk to a greater celestial then himself about trying to redeem it as a hellbred. It's not exactly a "get out of hell free" card or anything, either. The life of a hellbred is harsh as...well, hell. It'll be a whole lot of suffering for a small chance at redemption, but he thinks it should be offered at the very least.
But yeah, will totally talk about all this IC
I assume you're paying for the ID, Knight?
Nikkolai: Cold iron dagger. This is a dagger made of cold iron. This bypasses the damage reduction of many fey and chaotic outsiders(Most notably demons, but some slaad and eladrin, too.).
Knight:  Golemarm: Carved from the arm of a golem, this bow functions as a longbow+1, construct-bane. Arrows fired from this weapon count as adamantine to overcome damage reduction.  Due to the strength involved in pulling it, each arrow fired deals one point of non-lethal damage to the user.
From Granny Tam.
Adail: Starlight Bracelet: This bracelet allows you to treat three conjuration(healing) spell per day as empowered, with no increase to the casting time or casting level.
Nikkolai: Book of Tongues: This book allows you to learn a language on the triple-quick. With two hours of study, you can learn one language of your choice. The book only works once.  Scroll of Trollshape (PHB2, read section of the polymorph sub-school too.)
Mari: Spider-Brooch of the Drow: Transforms Mari into a drow. Seems to be stuck on drow-mode.
Kamvakua: Ring of protection+1 goes to ring of protection+3.
Knight: Rope Barding of Shrinking: When put on a creature, they decrease by one or two size categories. (User's choice.)
Gnome Mech Armor
This counts as tiny adamantine full plate armor. In it's back is a reservoir of water that can be filled up. When full the armor has 20 points of steam power. The armor has the following abilities:
Quick don: By pressing a switch in the armor, one can don the armor as a standard action. This costs one point of steam power.
Quick removal: By pressing a switch in the armor, one can remove the armor as a standard action. This costs one point of steam power.
Rocket Punch: The gauntlets of the armor can be propelled by steam force to deal devastating shots. This counts as a ranged attack with a distance of thirty feet, dealing 1d4+strength damage. These rocket punches count as adamantine for bypassing damage reduction or hardness. Both fists can be fired as a full attack action, a single one as a standard action. Each punch takes two points of steam power.
Superjump: By expelling steam, the wearer can jump super high. They choose a number of steam points to expend and gain a +3 bonus to jump for each point expended.
Unstable: The armor may not be entirely stable. You aren't quite sure how, though, but it's safe...right?
So I need to look into replacing my arsenal with larger weapons, which I suspect will need to be custom-made. I'll enquire with those weapons dealers from before if I can get in contact with them again- they might have some special up for grabs.
Failing that, I definitely intend to get a large lance. A large sword (ideally another keen rapier) is also a possibility. Hell, a large bastard sword would be swell, that's 2d8 and I can swing wielding it one-handed, even.
Magical resizing could be possible but would take a bit of time to look into.
Fortunately, there's a lot of large and larger elementals in Hardsoil. Getting a large-sized lance is possible.
Iron Tower Sliver:
This lance is said to be a piece of the Iron Tower. The truth of this isn't known, but it's a nasty and sharp lance. It functions as a large lance+1. Twice per day it may rust up to a 10 foot cube of iron or like material, ruining it. Nonmagical weapons or armor hit with the lance are destroyed, magical ones are allowed a DC 17 reflex save to survive.
Also, you were given a Scroll of Bull's Strength.
Adail will give the lance the hairy eyeball with Detect Evil, and if it registers, he'll suggest looking into ways to get it purified without losing the effects once they have more time. Not a huge deal right now, since he's not overly worried about Knight getting corrupted by her weapon, but best not to leave any potential backdoors for magnificent bastards like any Devil Duke to exploit. Call him paranoid, but after Kam's thing with Ogremoch, he'd like to not take chances with anything related to The Evil Powers That Be.
-100 GP for the identify, Granny Tam gets it done at cost for you under the circumstances.
Aeryin: Huge sized greatsword+1. When used by someone with the air subtype or with air elemental blood, it allows them to use their dexterity modifier in place of their strength modifier to determine to hit and damage rolls. On a successful hit, you may unleash a powerful gust of wind. If failed, the target is knocked 50 feet back away from you.
Bow of the Arrow Demonx2: Each of these is a longbow+2. For every six arrows a non-demon fires from them per day, they must make a DC 16 will save or be afflicted by rage(as the spell) for one round.
Ring of Earth Protection: This ring allows one to function in Earth safely. They may ignore the heavy gravity trait, suffering no penalty to attack rolls and normal damage on falls.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
1) We should enquire with Granny Tam over if the sword can be transmuted or something.
2) We don't need the bows, I'll keep my current one. Since we get the best deals by trading them with those merchant guys, I'd rather do that than sell them, but we do kind of need money.
3) Kam can hold onto that ring whilst we're in the plane until he's uncursed, as suggested?
Sword of Subtlety: As per the SRD.
Large Bastard Sword+1, keen. If the temperature is below freezing, the sword functions as a masterwork large bastard sword instead.
Crystal Mask of Presence: You gain a +2 enhancement bonus to charisma.
Bonus items for 'steady business':
Scroll of Fell the Greatest Foe (SC)
Potion of Fly.
Potion of Cure Serious Wounds.
I dunno, I'd say if you're targeting buying group protective gear (Potions, wards, wands, etc) for lich fighting, that it really doesn't matter about playing divy the loot beforehand.  It sounds like you are, and it would be good if we had more of that in the group in prep.
No point getting a CMW want when it costs 6 times (!) as much as the CLW one for only slightly over twice the effect, and we'll barely use it in combat anyway (we've got actual spells for that!)
Sounds like a plan. That way you and Adail can both have one in case the other is, I dunno, lost in time and space or something.
So!
SELL: Ring of Earth Protection (+3000gp!)
BUY: 2x Wand of CLW (-1,500), 1x Potion of Remove Blindness/Deafness (-750, thought this was 2nd level before!), 1x Potion of Lesser Restoration (-300), 1x Potion of Delay Poison (-300) for a net of +150gp from that sale, which I will, um, pocket for gambling purposes.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Dracos on April 30, 2010, 12:18:45 PM
Sure, I can hold onto one.  Hmm.
Uh, I'd not get lesser restoration.  Reason: Both me and Adail can cast that.  Better to target things we can't (Like curing poison, but I guess that's expensive).
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Carthrat on April 30, 2010, 09:07:50 PM
Ability loss happens all the time and we've been caught with our pants down on it before, and lesser restoration only provides 1d4, which can only be a fraction of any loss. It also synchs nicely with delay poison since all we're really shooting for there is 'keep the poison at bay long enough to ensure we don't die from it'.
I *guess* we could get remove curse or remove disease instead of those two but the former requires high caster level sometimes, and diseases tend to not be immediately lethal, too.
That said if we're going to the abyss, remove disease suddenly looks a lot better. <_<
+5000gp get, whoever said gambling doesn't pay? We can use this to buy a few more scrolls OR a wand of resist energy! Those are only.. uh... 750*3*2 = 4,500gp, and could be very useful for 'ohshit!' situations, which I believe the abyss is fond of.
Yeah I'm actually liking this, if we sell the mousemech we have 7,500 disposable income to spend on protections.
6x: Scroll of Attune Form (2,700gp)
1x Wand of Resist Elements (4,500 gp) = 7,200gp total. That'll do me for sufficient abyssal protection prep.
Also I would like to acquire 2 oils of bless weapon for myself, will cost another 200gp. You never know.
Logistics Warrior Knight would also like to recommend we buy some scrolls of identification. Thoughts?
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Adail sells the armor and passes the 5000gp from the sale off to Knight to help purchase stuff.
EDIT: Passing Knight only 2.5K of that, adding the rest on to my sheet.
Also spending 750 to grab a Wand of Cure Light since my current one is running low.
Don't forget water, which is free. But how are you going to carry that much water with you? Are you going to rely on carrying it or other means? I don't wanna be an encumbrance Nazi, so any reasonable solution I'll go along with.
Loot from the Abyss
Keeping track of them in this post.
Bloodied body piercing, magical.
Bloodied anklet/bracelet
Bloodied ring.
Ivory dragon pendant: Bahamut's Favor. You gain the senses of a dragon, gaining a +4 bonus to spot checks, listen checks, low light vision, darkvision 120ft and blindsense out to 60 feet. However, if the wearer is not in Bahamut's favor, it is treated as a cursed item, inflicting a -4 penalty to spot and listen checks instead.
The BAG of HOLDING Contains...
Well, I think this should be somewhat defined. If there's anything you're carrying that should be in here, let us know!
-Sufficient stale bread and lukewarm water for a party of adventurers to survive on nigh-indefinitely.
-Pretty much all our unidentified junk
-Valuables good for nothing but selling
-Our adventurer's kit stuff, like, you know, rope, chalk, all that crap.
So, you know, if whoever is holding the bag falls down a bottomless pit, we'll know what we've lost to some extent and won't need to argue over it later.
Assume everything is medium-sized unless noted otherwise. In other words, normal gear.
Body Piercing of Charisma+2: 4,000 GP. The appraiser gives you a very strange look about this one.
Silver anklet: 250 GP.
Ironrod ring: 80 GP.
Ivory dragon pendant: Bahamut's Favor. You gain the senses of a dragon, gaining a +4 bonus to spot checks, listen checks, low light vision, darkvision 120ft and blindsense out to 60 feet. However, if the wearer is not in Bahamut's favor, it is treated as a cursed item, inflicting a -4 penalty to spot and listen checks instead. - No value as it's a holy relic.
Dagger with mother of pearl inlays, crafted in Water: 85 GP.
Gold and silver coins of Minaros: 399 GP.
Tiny longbow+2, shocking and screaming. In theory this sells for 32,000 GP. In reality, there's about zero market for it and Yulia's going to get all uppity if you try and sell something valuable to the courre. Up to you guys, if you still want to sell it, you'll need to make an effort to find a buyer. Not many people buy tiny weapons, you know, and the local merchants aren't interested.
Metal Flask with a potion of poison: 500 GP. Nikkolai botched the roll but no one was desperate enough to drink it. It was once a potion of cure light/serious wounds, but it's long gone poisonous and bad.
Rod of Metamagic, lesser: As per the SRD link here: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rods.htm#metamagicEmpower 9,000 GP.
Scroll of Cure Critical Wounds: 700 GP.
3 rings of mind shielding: 8,000 GP each, as per the SRD. These are the lead rings Lady Fairhand and her thugs wore.
Lady Fairhand's jewelry: 820 GP.
Prophet's Sword: Greatsword+2. A prophet's life is full of annoyance; knowing the future can help. Once per day as a free action, the wielder of this sword may invoke it to cast calm emotions as a swift action. 10,000 GP.
Necklace of Sneezing: This cursed lei causes the wearer to endlessly sneeze, inflicting a -2 to initiative, attack rolls and skill checks. 300 GP.
Bar of lead: Despite being silvery, turns out it's just a tricksters bar, lead painted silver. 10 GP.
Bag from Eldon's of Mercuria, a jewelry smith from Mount Celestia. The bag isn't worth much, but it's full of ruby dust. 285 GP.
Golden chalice: 600 GP.
From the hoard:
A pile of coins and minor gems from across the wide planes: 5,000 GP.
Woundflame. Flaming longsword +1 keen, burns with an eerie green flame. Its blade is anatheamic to life, granting it a x3 crit multiplier and a 17-20 threat range. However the wielder becomes a carrier of Filth Fever (DC 22, 1d3 dex, 1d3 con). The wielder is immune but anyone in close contact runs the risk of being infected. Incidentally, the appraiser got Filth Fever from handling the blade and is charging you for the remove disease casting. It'll be included in the total appraisal cost. 3,000 GP.
Yugoloth fertility potion; appears purple and yellow in color: 400 GP. The appraiser does NOT want to talk about this one, either.
Feather Token, anchor: 50 GP.
Drow storybook about how Lolth eats the cowardly, incompetent and foolhardy, all with lovely pictures for young children: 744 GP.
Primitive bone carvings of a kelvesu: 526 GP.
Spell-Transference Notes: These notes allow a sorcerer to imbue a creature with a single one of it's spells. In exchange for one charge, the creature gains the ability to use this spell 1/day as a spell like ability. Once made the bond cannot be broken. Spells with an expensive material component cannot be transferred. 3,000 GP.
Green Silk Sash: 430 GP.
The Lady of the Green Kirtle's phylactery! Priceless, really.
Aesyreck is a smallish village, but does have an identifier and appraiser. The cost for each magic item to be appraised is 125 GP; each non-magical item appraised carries a 5% surcharge of the total price. Since you guys usually don't care about this much, I'll just assume you go along with this.
12 magical items to identify.
12*125=1500 GP.
1 remove disease:  150 GP.
Total of non magical items: 9629*.05=481.45 GP.
Total of appraising: 2131.45 GP.
You guys can total the full value of everything+magic items yourself. I'll post about Kam costs below.
---
The first option is Raise Dead. It's a 5th level cleric spell. There is a cleric in town who can cast this. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/raisedead.htm It costs 6,125 GP to get Kam raised this way. If so, he'll need a regeneration for his hand, since Raise Dead doesn't restore lost body parts. This will run another 2,275 GP; the cleric here can't cast it so you'll need to look afar for it.
The second option is Resurrection. This costs 12,275, but it gets him back on his feet and at full power immediately. But by the same token, the cleric here can't cast it.
The third option is Reincarnate. It only costs 1,700 GP, but Kam will reincarnate as a new race. http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/reincarnate.htm Economical, at least.
Up to you guys here.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Carthrat on June 09, 2010, 01:34:42 PM
I believe the cost of the valuables comes to 9632 total (including the yugoloth fertility potion, let's not keep that thing around for someone to drink whilst drunk.)
Gearwise, I, personally, am interested in the rings of mind shielding. I am kinda interested in Woundflame, but do not really want to, y'know, infect the rest of the party on a regular basis, so it's out.
Kam is opting to get raised instead of taking the far cuter and economic option of getting reincarnated, so we're out 6,125gp, plus the 2131.45gp  we need to pay for appraising stuff. So at the end of all that, we're stuck with 1375.55gp.
Dune, can we really sell the cursed/bad items?
Also going to resolve loot gold, raise dead, and appriasal costs now.
Knight suggests both Adail and Kam take the ring of mind shieldings for later devil plane travel.  THis is a good idea.  Distributing.
Nikkolai is taking the scroll of transfer notes.
Please post here when you've transfered items onto your sheet and I'll remove them from the distro topic.
Someone will by the necklace if you're selling that, no dice on the poison or the fertility potion. No one will buy woundflame from you either for very obvious reasons. You'll need to go to some effort; you may want to keep that sword wrapped up or something if you're going to carry it around.
I shall have an expert, um, scabbard-maker do so immediately. Then we'll bundle it up and stow it away. I'll hold onto it in case I get trapped alone somewhere, where I would have no qualms about busting it out.
Well, the scabbard maker gives you this long, long, long look. Like he's seen a dozen dames like you, all asking the same thing. Taking, taking, taking from him! He grunts and mutters you should really get it made of lead. It'll be heavy but lead is anti-magical and generally useful for keeping things like this from spreading. He can do it for a whopping 20 GP.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Dracos on June 09, 2010, 02:53:13 PM
Updated post.  Alignment wise it seems like kind of a dick move to sell any of those to people.
Kam is on board with simply destroying them, chucking them in the trash, etc.  Yes, that's a lot of money, but those are creepy items to sell to people.  I don't know if there's a magical crap shit disposal route though as that rarely comes up.
Or I did and forgot to hit enter here..
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Carthrat on June 09, 2010, 02:54:20 PM
Knight hums and haws and counts out each coin asked for, very, very slowly.
Eh, I'd rather keep the cursed items than destroy them if we can't/don't want to sell them, we might find a hilarious use for them someday.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on June 09, 2010, 02:55:12 PM
The scabbard keeper watches you count every coin, licking his lips. He idly wonders if Knight wants to go in back and count coins with him and a bottle of Arborean brandy.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Dracos on June 09, 2010, 02:55:43 PM
Kam is fine with someone keeping them and fine with destroying them.  Kam is just not fine with us selling them to random townspeople.
So should I put them to your loot for now?
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Carthrat on June 09, 2010, 02:57:41 PM
Knight refuses, but says she knows a girl who's into that, and refers him to Yulia.
@Drac: I was just gonna stick them in the bag of holding, which I guess is mine but presumably contains junk that belongs to everyone. So sure, why not? We know they're there and I'll share if we need someone poisoned/infected/sneezing.
We should see about trading the prophet sword for something fun with our favorite weapon traders.  At least if there's a quick jaunt there.  GUess there wouldn't be but that's been fun so far.
Kam be also looking to replace:
and we should restock our CLW stuff.
You can by any gear of 2,000 GP or less in value here, within fair reason. It's not a huge town and the shopping limit is low. If in doubt, ask.
I could take the third ring of mind shielding? Might want to slip it on once in a while when diplo stuff comes up. I could lie with impunity! Nik might want it for the same reason?
Drac, I have a spare +1 shortsword Kam can use if you really need something? Although it'd be like a dagger in his hand.
I am sure that Mari drinking the fertility potion would hilariously disastrous. Really hard for me to resist this one. I am aware that it's a bad idea; doesn't stop it from being funny. We do need the extra money, I'll grant.
dunno where rat's math is coming from(It doesn't add up using the numbers in the post), so just updating the current pile.  As I understand it we can't convert the greatsword into wealth right now anyway because there's nobody in this town who could pay 5-10k for a sword like that and wants to, so when we encounter someone who can do that (Basically at Shivra).
Solar's Diamond(Nikkolai's): This gemstone grants a +4 armor bonus to armor class when orbiting Nikkolai's head.
Solar's Diamond(Adail): This gemstone, when set into Adail's forearm, grants his punches preternatural reach. He gains a reach of 5ft, able to threaten and flank as normal for a small size creature.
It would be a waste for one of such talent to die for good and become the puppet of some lonely god. I anticipate our next meeting.
Each identification is 115 GP in Shivra.
Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz: Longsword+1, anarchic. On it's first successful blow per round it causes a random effect. Roll 1d26 to determine which effect:
1. Air Walk on the wielder of the blade.
2. Bear's Endurance, Mass with a radius centered on the sword. Only the target of the blow and enemies of the wielder are affected.
3. Call Lightning, with the target chosen randomly each round.
4. Doom on the target of the blow.
5. Earthquake, centered on the wielder.
6. Freedom of Movement on all within a 60ft radius.
7. Gate, summon creature function. The creature summoned is random, as is it's allegiance. Once it immediately appears, the Gate closes.
8. Holy Aura on wielder.
9. Imbue with Spell Ability on the nearest ally within 60 ft. The spells gained are random, but whomever gains them feels like they're gained something they should not have taken.
10. Jump on everyone within a 60ft radius.
11. Know Direction on the wielder.
12. Liveoak. If no suitable tree is within 60ft, a random creature within the radius must make a will save or be transformed as per polymorph. Failure has them then affected by the liveoak spell, gaining the statistics of a treant.
13. Mind Blank on the wielder.
14. Neutralize Poison on the target of the blow.
15. Obscuring Mist, centered on the wielder.
16. Polar Ray, targeted at the farthest ally of the wielder within 60ft.
17. Quench on all valid targets within 60ft.
18. Reverse Gravity on both target and wielder. All other creatures are unaffected.
19. Suggestion on all targets within 60ft. The suggestion is to immediately begin finding the lost slippers of Renbuu.
20. True Seeing on the wielder.
21. Unholy Aura on nearest enemy within 60ft that is not the target of the blow.
22. Vision on all within 60ft. The subject of the vision varies, but the DC check to find out the information always passes.
23. Web centered between the target of the blow and the wielder, using them as support. The web functions no matter how big or small the targets are.
24. Xorn Movement on the target of the blow.
25. Nothing seems to happen, but the wielder is convinced the Yeenoghu is PISSED.
26. Zone of Silence on the wielder.
All spells are cast at 12th level and have a DC of 16 + spell level. If an attack roll is required, the modifier is +12. The sword does not function if non-lethal damage is done or it is not in combat. In fact, it seems to have a strangely apt ability to only function when it's in a real fight. The identifier isn't sure if it's intelligent or just insane as chaos tends to be.  He offers you 11k for it, he freely admits that he has no idea how to price something like this. The sword is also damaged. This isn't inhibiting it's powers, but it won't take much abuse to break in this state. With the chaos that's likely inside, he opines that it could be baaaaaaad if it breaks.
---
Appraisals are 2% of the item's cost in Shivra.
Gold breastplate: 5,000 GP.
100 GP for that identification.
Mari takes the brandy. Let me know if you drink it.
---
No price for identifying the koylarut's sword, since I assume that the proceeds from selling it cover that.
Longsword+2: 8,000 GP.
Bag of sapphires and ice-blue aquamarines: 3,000 GP.
60 GP for that appraisal.
So, on our funding pool changing over our stay so far
Current GP: 6317.55
Betting Profits: 2k
Korovana donation: -500gp
Gems: +3k
Longsword +2: +4k (half price)
Slaadsword: +11k (does anyone want to keep this? the risk/reward on the chart doesn't seem to be worth it imo. If anything I like the anarchic quality more than the extra effect.)
Golden Breastplate: +2.5k (half price)
Adrian, Aquatic Dagger +1: +2k (half price)
ID costs: 275gp
Total of... 23725k profits so far!
Which should leave us standing at 30024.55gp
Adail will under absolutely no circumstances support the use of the slaadsword. That is a disaster waiting to happen, and I'd rather not tempt fate THAT hard THAT often, thanks.
Selling it...uhh, we need the cash, but it kinda feels like selling someone a deathtrap. Not sure I'm cool with that. Breaking it is feels wasteful but definately the better option morally, so if we go that route Adail is willing to be the one to do it and at a far enough distance from anyone else. He's confident in his ability to handle whatever might result, and more importantly if he's gonna push his morals on the group(as much as I hate doing that) he'll be the one to take the fallout and risk from it.
Another option, though dunno if this is doable, is to hold onto it for awhile and try and "redeem" it of sorts, take it to Arborea and try to find some way(preferably through a quest of some sort) to turn it's chaos more benign. It would likely lose some power for that, but small price to pay for something interesting that doesn't have a chance of analy violating us when we try and use it. (EDIT the second: Thinking about it, this might be something cool to offer to Rogue so he can do it? He'd keep it for himself afterwords, but hey, cool stuff for allied NPCs is fine too~)
NINJA RAT EDIT(Hey, I'm supposed to be the ninja rodent around here!): I'm fine with selling it so long as we extract some sort of promise from the dude not to resell it without FULL disclosure of what the thing is capable of to prospective buyers. If someone knows the risks and is willing to take them(and thier allies let them), then...well, it's no more objectionable then the slaad themselves. Meaning Adail doesn't like it, but it's not something he's gonna crusade against.
Mmph
I'd keep it for one purpose, that is, to use as a strategic weapon vs. devils, since if we break it, hilarity ensues and we know how they hate that.
I'd rather sell it than redeem it or give it away, though. I'm gonna assume the identifier is somewhat reputable and won't want to ruin his reputation by selling trick goods, so he'll probably keep a promise like that even if you didn't ask him.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Practically speaking, I think selling it to help Knight get a new mount is the best option.
Saving it to break and cause chaos in hell is amusing, but pretty much only an option if we're about to die or something. I don't plan on doing that, so meh. Anyway, we don't know what will happen if we break it, and in the event that the result involves mass destruction, I'd rather not haul it around.
Actually, this raises a question: Shouldn't that not matter for everburn ones?  They don't produce heat or use oxygen.  The fire is more of an optical illusion it sounds like to the description (You can stick your hand in it and not get burned, or stick it in your cloak and not become a living torch).  I could be wrong, but it sounded from the desc that they were kind of intended for these kinds of things (Thus their 10000x markup over normal torches which would be blasted out instantly)
Not that I disagree with having several of them anyways.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Anastasia on July 02, 2010, 09:56:04 PM
They're based on continual flame spell(Read the item description, Drac), which creates a flame. So yes, they would be subject to impediment on Cold. I see your point but I can't really fathom that Cold wouldn't try to snuff out a Continual Flame spell, so.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Carthrat on July 02, 2010, 10:26:07 PM
Continual Flames aren't actually flames, spell desc says they can't be put out or quenched, so.
Post by: Dracos on July 03, 2010, 01:01:20 PM
Yeah, I read the spell desc carefully, ^^;;  Thus my questioning of it.  I can't fathom that there's any heat for cold to put out.  It explicitly says it has no heat already.  It's all a light show and nothing else.
Kam is happy to carry extra healing if it's available.
As a general thing, we kinda failed here by having whatever distribution happened occur in elysium midsession and not get reflected in a post saying 'I took x' to make it clear that we handled it.
Get all magical items SAVE the crown and robe identified.   Well, and the Dress, the Axe, and the chessboard.  We know what they do.
Does anyone want to keep some of the non-magical items for personal decoration, enjoyment, or long term bribery?
Appraise the gold bars, also the pile of coins (if it isn't just simply countable and obvious as normal currency).
Undistributed Magic:
Frost Giant's Axe: Large Greataxe+1, frost. 8,000 GP.
Claim non-magic or magic now or hold your peace and have them transformed into money.
Kam would like to glance around and see if there's any interesting trade opportunities really to be had for the Giant Strength belt.  A con belt would be awesome.  Because I continue my iron whim, blur/displace vest/armor would also be neat.  Mainly looking out for anything interesting in one of my open slots, head/vest/belt/bracers/gloves.
If not, he'll let others grab it or sell it, but hoping to get something neat and none of the other stuff really helps any.
Also for record, gonna swap back necklaces with Adail.
I'll eat the marble! I've got to do it before Mari does!!11
I have +2 str gloves presently, I would happily upgrade to the +4 str belt but will take the last pick because ahahaha I've been rolling in the most gold for ages now. I just want to avoid trading down if possible.
Yeah, it would benefit Knight more than me.  I am though more than a bit greedy as I haven't grabbed a treasure in a while, and well knight is totally beginning to get a real lead on net wealth over the party.  It's limited use for me because I can battle blessing+Bull Strength 1 or 2 a day, which largely covers that bonus, and I have nothing better to stick that spell slot to right now.
So maybe knight gets it and I get a sizable chunk of treasure to get something, I dunno.  This is a natural issue really as knight is the most flexible treasure spot in the group :)  nuum.  Anyhow, greedy at the moment for getting something nice.
UPdating treasure post with Rat's update.
I don't want to deal with a blur/displacement vest and start stacking miss chances into trying to balance encounters. That said, what exactly is interesting to you, Kam? What are you on the look out for? Do you have any specific items in particular here? What's your price range?
as a general theme: I'm on the lookout for more odd stuff I can stick in slots that I don't use often or general improvements along my current power theme.  Like a talking hat of bardic knowledge.  The belt of gaint strength is actually a really good choice usually, except that it matches with something kam already has.
In more specific type interests (thrown out as ideas):
A vest or belt of health (+4 or +6).
Keenness on his cool spear.
Hat of Telepathy
A new/better breastplate?  Blue-ice(Material) +2/3 of ..something for getting movement back.  light fortification maybe.  Hard to find something that isn't a downgrade in the low enchant range.
A clear ioun stone (sustains without food/water)
Better cloak of resistance (Currently at +2)
Add boots of the winterland enchant or winged boots to my current boots.
armbands of might (MIC 72)
Helmet of Glorious Recovery (MIC)
anyhow, a few ideas.
Okay. If you're going to improve an item this does take some time. It's not viable if you're going to run off to another plane in a day or two on account of Mari. Bear this in mind. You could also commission any item that's not in town, but again remember this does take time. Buying off the rack is a lot quicker, so to say.
In more specific type interests (thrown out as ideas):
A vest or belt of health (+4 or +6) - +4 can be purchased without incident. There's no +6 belt around Shivra to buy. You can attempt to track one down if you like.
Keenness on his cool spear - Can be done without incident.
Hat of Telepathy - There's not one around, though you could attempt to track one down if you like.
A new/better breastplate?  Blue-ice(Material) +2/3 of ..something for getting movement back.  light fortification maybe.  Hard to find something that isn't a downgrade in the low enchant range. - You're in the right place to buy something like blue ice.  Get a little more specific on what you want?
A clear ioun stone (sustains without food/water) - There's one around, buyer wants 1.5x the normal selling price. (6,000 GP.) You can accept that price and buy, or try and negotiate with him. Up to you.
Better cloak of resistance (Currently at +2) - Can be done.
Add boots of the winterland enchant or winged boots to my current boots. - Boots of Winterland or Winged Boots can be done here; bear in mind the multiplier for stacking enchantments on the same piece of equipment. Boots of Winterland are cheap enough where it won't matter a lot, Winged Boots will be another matter.
Armbands of Might (MIC 72) - There's not a pair around. You can attempt to track a pair down if you like.
Helmet of Glorious Recovery (MIC) - There's one in town, the priest that raised Nikkolai has one in his temple. He's willing to sell.
Blue-Ice +3 breastplate of light fortification work as an option?
What's the time look like on the spear.  Lacking a backup weapon that might be something that if I go for, would have to wait.
Proposal to team:
Kam buys +4 belt of con and +3 Blue Ice Breastplate for 26000 gp total.
Total gain to Kam: +4 con, +20 hp, +evenhigherfort, +1 Ac, +10 feet, -1 ACP
Dropping one so as not to devour the whole gold amount, but I'm still suggesting devouring a lot.
Alternate proposals:
Winged Boots enchant + armor= 32k consuming a bit much - prolly coolest = flying + icy armor.
Winged boots enchant + belt = 36k around the same. - prolly most powerful.  Flying + hp gain.
winged boots enchant + ioun stone = 24-26. = most decorative :P
How much do folks feel comfortable with kam grabbing?
I think your math is off for the winged boots. A quick glance shows that they would be 24k to add to your boots; 16k*1.5. See http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm#addingNewAbilities . How much are you assuming they're costing you, Drac?
I think we should spring for +2 con boosters on pretty much everyone here, which would be about 16k if everyone who doesn't have one gets one. If cash is tight I can live without one for a bit though. I kinda really want them on the squishier members. <_<
The winged boots have greater tactical impact than the armour, so yeah, if they both cost a huge chunk of cash I'm for the angel booties.
Before it's lost in the back and forth, Zeph was mentioning also wanting a wand of metamagic. The relevant costs can be found here:
http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/rods.htm#metamagicRods
These are nice but get expensive fast. Zeph, what sort of metamagic would you like? You'd be best suited figuring out what you want to add for more firepower.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Dracos on August 12, 2010, 03:27:42 AM
Also for zeph: Note you already have one that affects every spell level you can cast right now.  This will continue for some time to really cover most of your spell arsenal.  They're also rods, so they don't run out.  If you were going, you'd likely want something in the maximize/quicken range, but I don't think you can combine them with your current empower option.
I added the Gown of the Snow Princess to my sheet after we picked it up. I guess we can sell it if we really need cash, but it's fun and will likely be useful later anyway (since we are going back to the plane of ice--at the very least for the card, hopefully for fey smiting as well). I totally want an excuse to go to a fancy ball now.
Not much of the odds and ends seems important. I mean, I'd have Mari grab something shiny for the sake of vanity, but that's not really something she's thinking much about right now. (Maybe snow perfume to go with snow dress? I dunno. Maybe I just want to see Mari impersonating royalty and swindling someone.) So if we want to flog it all for cash, we can.
Other stuff...I already have decent boots, but I'm assuming we want to keep the Boots of the Winterlands (again for the return to ice).
Amulet of Resistance...well, my saves can always use shoring up, but the neck slot is already taken for Mari and the Amulet of Tears has saved me too many times in combat to trade it out. So if someone else wants this one, go ahead and take it.
Pervert Robe is actually better than my current armor as far as AC goes (I would lose the stealth bonus--and how!--for switching out my current set, but that has never been much benefit anyway). I dunno if Mari's quite enough of a free spirit to actually wear it, though. It would be something she'd have to work herself up to doing (she could probably get used to being around the party like that, other people not so much. It'd be something to put on when out in the wilderness or dungeon-crawling, switch it out when getting back to civilization. Of course, if any diplomatic situations arise out in the open--as they tend to do--awkwardness!) Alternate suggestion that came up in chat: give it to Adail. Considerably fewer people would be bothered by the sight of a naked mouse, and he'd be nigh unhittable with that bonus.
As far as buying CON-boosting stuff goes, if people want to buy 'em I won't complain. (Of course, you realize, Rat, that if we buy the same thing for everyone, then real durability has functionally remained unchanged. [/dl]) As far as more exotic stuff goes, it'd be great to upgrade my mundane magic sword to another Sword of Subtlety, but I dunno what the costs involved in that might be.
Re: Mari
I already assumed you were keeping the Gown.  It's not even on the list since it was already on your sheet.  If you want to sell it, that's okay, but I agree with it being cool and flavorful and I would hardly encourage it.  Just because I'm greedy for some new toys, doesn't mean I'd actually want others to drop their toys.
On kam's own grabbing for stuff, I'm simply assuming that what's left on the treasure pile is available unless folks want to say otherwise.  Mainly asking what's the opinion on what's fair grabs and what should be sliced up and shared.
Anything not claimed is assumed to be getting sold, so speak up if you want to wear something.  Meaning the boots of winterland there really.  If you want them, say so and they're yours.  If no one says they want to keep something, then it's technically for sale.
Kam would probably comment a bit on anyone who voluntarily chose to wear the pervert robe.
Sword of subtlety     22,310 gp - For reference.  :) Similar to Kam, that's over half the treasure horde available, sadly so we'll have to chatter if so.
For Ko:
Given we're discussing costs, could you bend card a bit and give us an eyeball on what the wizard might charge us for a portal to Arborea?  Assuming he's willing to do business with us in an honest fashion and won't just do it to get us out of his backyard after taking his bribe.
Oh, I just figured we'd keep the boots for general party use. Seemed obviously useful since we're going back to the plane of ice and all. I don't specifically desire them myself (I have decent boots, and the gown for cold resist). If everyone already has good boots then I guess they don't really matter that much after all. I may as well as grab the snow perfume because hey, Mari's bound to do something to treat herself, and we don't get all that much money from selling it anyway.
I think I actually will take the robe unless someone else genuinely wants to use it--I dunno if I will, but it's too hilarious to pass up. One day there will surely be an excuse. (Would it cloak all my belongings, weapons included? Think of the surprise attack possibilities!)
And yeah, I figured sword upgrade would be expensive, alas. I'm not going to grab half the party wealth just so I can hit better, nah (especially since we might need some extra cash to get a portal opened). Honestly, I don't really feel like I'm hurting for goodies here since I did get a couple personal upgrades (unwanted though they might have been to Mari herself) last session.
I've been clubbed repeatedly to post. My poor, aching head.
I looked over the list of rods and the rules governing them. Unfortunately, Dracos is right, it seems. I think I'm going to wait to pick up a metamagic feat before considering buying a new wand. I was simply hoping to find a rod that did more than 1.5x damage per spell. The only thing that I think we should consider investing in before we spend too much money are some of the spells we discussed sometime back concerning our assault on the Lich Bitch. Someone mentioned a few scrolls of anchor? Or prevent teleport? I forget precisely what they were called.
Down to 37k if we sell everything, counting half sell price for magic items (always sad).  Open questions (Folks please answer so we can decide):
Kotono: how much will the portal likely cost?  We'll be asking at the start of next session, so its kind of nice to know beforehand or else the answer has to predate spending any money :(  I've been waiting primarily for this to say buying x because I don't want to render us unable to buy a portal.
Nikki wants a 2000 gp rod of fiery spell that sacrifices his cloak?  What is this? :)  Anyhow putting money aside.
Scrolls of lich stopping (dimensional anchor), not sure how much?  How much, if available?
Does anyone have a problem with me grabbing most/all of the remainder?  I've been holding off selecting as nobody is answering on a comfort level :P  Knight and Mari have grabbed a sizable chunk of loot (20+k each), so no real worries there.  Adail is quiet/busy.  Nikki are you good?
The minimum for a Gate spell is nearly 9,000 GP. That's assuming the caster does it at the bare cost and doesn't inflate it at all.
Good to know, thanks for answering.
Alright, I insist we wait on any further expenditures until we have our 'get to help' plan established (Mine and anyone else's who wants to grab).  Sorry that means there's the awkward shop mid-session bit, but as much as I want new toys, Mari comes first.  We have sufficient there if we need to pay an inflated cost for now.
Figured it would take us a decent chunk of money to get a portal made. Yeah, taking the perfume and leaving the pervert robe in the group pool to be sold. I've already taken one pricey item that's at best situationally useful, don't want to subtract from group resources further, especially when the side trip we're paying for is my fault anyway (not to mention, I don't want to derail potential future encounters with every stranger wondering why the hell Mari's walking around naked).
Alright, Mari.  Normally I'd try and talk ye out of it, but the item this time is kinda...awkward to have in play anyhow.  Cleared the pile into raw GP for now.  Kam is totally going to grab some chunk of that (and then take a break from treasure for a while with his new toys :P), but that'll be after we figure out what we need to get toward Mari getting healed.  40k is a good enough bankroll for that.
Someone should double check my math. :)
46,544.9 gp after bartering at Nikkolai expenses.  Man we just took that merchant for a RIDE.
Title: Re: Oh hey, did you just see what I found?!?!
Post by: Dracos on August 15, 2010, 03:07:34 AM
Okay, some mathing.
46,544.9
- 16000 gp Add Lesser Winged Boots (Fly 5 minutes 2/day) to Boots - Talked with Ko on this.
+ 2675 GP Rhino Breastplate +2, +2d6 damage on charge.  Penalty -3. for half price.
- 12000 +3 Blue-Ice Breastplate
- 4000 +2 belt of health
Remainder: 17219.9
Everyone adds 3443.98 gp to their sheets.
This should be a break out that has kam taking only a slightly larger share and still leaving plenty of gold for divying purposes so that we all have some bankroll moving into the next session in case of random expenses and saving toward future desired things.  Sure, the additional +2 on the belt is tempting (and affordable), but this also will help keep kam somewhere a bit behind knight in current loot rather than springboarding past her.  At least that makes sense to my mind at the moment.
I'll update my sheet when I hear an okay from Dune that my math is right.
We have a 10000 gp cost to pay to the wizard.
so, -2000 gp to each party member.
also -10gp5sp from mari.
-1200 gp from Kam.
Also, we got two really cool bottles of wine.  Could Ko list them here.   Kam's prolly going to carry them in our bag of carrying things.  Or at least that's my mental plan right now.
We've divided the books.  I think one is still remaining though, earmarked for Nikkolai the Evil. (Write it down on your sheet if you aren't reading it now Nikkolai!)
Remaining Undivided Loot:
Magic:
Invisible caltrops
Spider-cloak
Xorn statue
Greataxe
Deck
Not Magic:
Piles and piles of gold coins
Been a while.  We cannot sell these right now (not a town).  Can we get a count on the coins?  I suppose it doesn't matter much, but just refreshing so we don't forget these things are here (I half did!, it's been a month anyhow).
Invisible Caltrops: As normal caltrops, except they deal 1d8 damage and are invisible.  As they are invisible, most foes blunder right into them with predictable results. 3,000 GP.
8,000 GP.
Cloak of Arachnida:  As per http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicitems/wondrousitems.htm#cloakofArachnida including the price of 14,000 GP.
Figurine of Wondrous Power, Xorn: This functions as per a figurine of wondrous power. When activated, it functions as per an average Xorn under the command of it's possessor. It can be used twice per week for up to six hours per use. If the Xorn is slain, it cannot be summoned again for one week. If it is destroyed in statue form, it is truly destroyed. 18,000 GP.
Greataxe+1, dragon bane and fierce bane. 18,000 GP.
Deck of Illusions: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#deckofIllusions including the price, 8,100 GP.
Note that you can't sell these to the lich, so you're stuck with them for now.
Supplies given by the Lady of the Green Kirtle are below. Functions are provided on a written scroll with them. As for mundane items, any can be provided by the Lady for free on request.
1 wand of inflict serious wounds, 50 charges.
Short Sword of Desperate Measures: This +2 short sword gets stronger as you get weaker. If you are below your maximum HP, it gains the keen property. If you are below one half of your maximum HP, it gains the speed property.
Lifeshiner: Cloak of Resistance+3. As a free action, you may take 1 points of constitution damage to gain a +3 bonus to a single saving throw. This must be declared before you make the saving throw.
Metamagic Rod, Fell Drain: Any creature damaged by a spell augmented with this metamagic rod suffers a negative level.
Black Bough: This greatclub+1 is designed to slay yugoloths. Against yugoloths, it's enhancement bonus increases by +3 and each strike deals an additional 3d6 damage.
Bastian's Gauntlets:  When worn, these bloody gauntlets cause symbols to dance around the wearer at all times. These symbols grant spell resistance equal to 10+hit dice.  However, for each spell resisted, the wearer takes damage equal to 1+the level of the spell resisted.
5 scrolls of dimensional anchor.
We should divy all of it, at least temporarily.  I'd still say the invisible caltrops are better held by adail, since he can see them and well, yeah that's the entirety of my reasoning.
Mari reasonably has the spider cloak and the short sword.  Neither on her sheet yet though!
The deck would be in good hands by pretty much anyone but kam and knight (reasoning: They are better accompanying distraction rather than throwing them), though I still feel knight should take it since it goes with her theme!
Kam already put great axe on his sheet, likely to re-enter the pile later.   Kam will take the cloak  and the gauntlets.  He has the hp, con, and empty slots really to leverage them.  I think knight asked for the gauntlets, so yarr, knight if you want them more speak up.
Knight should take the greatclub, since she can become an expert in wielding it at a moment's notice.
Nikki ought take the rod, as if any doubt was there.   And the scrolls.
I think Adail was going to take the wand?  Probably Adail or Nikki should take the xorn.  Adail's a more manueverable user of it though.
Anyhow, there's a try at divying up everything but the raw gold.
I do kinda want the gauntlets, yes. SR that makes me take damage instead of getting hurt? I'm down for that, and not squeamish about being surrounded in scary glyphs or having hands that drip with blood, either. I kinda think they also fit on Mari. Leery about undocumented side-effects, though. I suggest we get these identified independently at some stage, preferably before we actually start using them, though that may be difficult at present.
On the greatclub: Can I wield it one-handed in my large hand, or must I use two hands to do so?
I do agree that I don't really need the deck, thematic as it is. I like the caltrops because, well, Adail might be too small to efficiently lug them around, really, even if he's surely strong enough to carry them.
Fair enough, ye asked for them, so they yours. :P  I think putting them on mari would be a dangerous idea and she already has an important booster in that slot.
and with the caltrops, seems kinda unfair to jab the 'this bag of small items is too big for adail to carry' when there's no mechanical reason he couldn't carry them other than the perception that it'd be more like a knapsack of caltrops to him and we both have plenty of examples of handwaving bulky items that mechanically we are able to use.  Kinda between you and adail, but he doesn't post much off session and I think that's kind of an unfair reason to count him out of treasure we only have because he picked it up.  If he doesn't want it, that's totally fine or you simply want it more that's also fine, but 'he can't use it' seems cheap way to wave him off.
hmm, still hope to re-equip at some point (Feels kinda weird to have most my slots empty still when going on another death facing campaign), but especially seeing what's out so far, kam's not looking to garb himself entirely in partially cursed items.
*eyes ko's post* Did someone actually add mundane items right to their sheet? *is surprised that would happen*
Anyhow, that is a good reminder anyway though.  Kam would be interested in:
gloves
spare clothes
Rope (The tougher silk ropes if possible)
We probably should stock up food/water.
Climber's kit
Torches
Grappling hook
Flint and steel
and I guess there's not an anti-toxin equiv for disease and asking a lich for holy water seems ridiculous.  so there mundane item list.
I'll do a glance over on tuesday of what folks have put on their sheets and create a new loot pile for us from what's not been added >_>;
Thought I made it pretty clear that I don't want the caltrops, yeah. Perfectly capable of arguing on my own behalf if I do want something, Drac.
EDIT: To make this sound less grumpy, Knight frankly doesn't need to SEE the caltrops to place them. Sure, she has Adail pick them back up for her once it's time to gather them up again since he can see them and all. But don't need to see to scatter. And really, they're not his style and I would promptly forget I had them if they were mine to place, so it'd really be a waste.
Anyway, I'll take the Wand and three of the Dimensional Anchor scrolls. Nothing else there I want, and Adail has little use for mundane equipment as a rule.
Loot from the small house:
A small pile of minor jewelry, rings and such from the bodies if you wish to take them.
Loot from the larger house:
1 sack of gold, found in a bedroom. It's all local coins from here and nearby kingdoms.
1 scroll of remove disease
Several message scrolls. You can read these at leisure once the house is dealt with.
3 sets of red armor and 3 scythes. Each one radiates magic if you care to take them.
Loot once identified and appraised by the Lady:
870 GP in local coins.
Message scrolls, read by Knight and posted over on the Gossip Board.
3 Bleeding Scythes: Scythes+2, wounding. Any creature struck by a Bleeding Scythe must make a DC 15 fort save or immediately be infected by the Bleeding Death. If held by any other than yugoloth or a follower of the Oinoloth, the scythe bestows a negative level. In addition, the holder must make a DC 15 fortitude save every hour or contract the Bleeding Death. The GP value is questionable, the Lady will destroy them as they're another source of the Bleeding Death. If you object say so here.
3 Profaned Armor: This armor is crafted of the fire-red scales of a chained beast deep within Hades. It functions as full plate+2 and grants a +3 profane bonus to all saving throws. When worn by any but a Yugoloth or a follower of the Oinoloth, it bestows two negative levels. The GP value is questionable again due to the negative levels, but there's no reason to trash these.
Mostigram: Greatsword+5. When wielded this weapon grants the wielder an insight bonus to armor class equal to his or her charisma modifier.
