Title: Guild Wars 2 & Soulriders
Post by: Merc on July 23, 2012, 12:12:29 AM
Since we're in different servers, going to list servers that people list themselves in in case someone else wants to join that server, and how to contact them if they just want to party/chat with them.

[21:24] <Ithea> uh...crystal desert, I think?
[21:25] <Iddy> Suckage.
[21:25] <Iddy> I'm on Tarnished Coast.
[21:25] <Ithea> Well, this is beta, so it's just a matter of picking a server for launch
[21:26] <Iddy> We have no idea what server we'll be on.
[21:26] <Ithea> Should probably post something on SR and see what server people want to pick. I just picked that one because another friend was there, and he picked that entirely randomly.

So GW2 launches next month and this is probably a bit early...but wanted to see who from Soulriders is going to play and what server they're interested in, see if we can't get a particular server to go into together.

I personally have no preference for servers.

Hum.  I got a Lot of Multiplayer on my plate.

Enough to collapse.  So I probably won't show up here, but have a good time anyway :)

Might want to plan a back up, just incase the server loads go insane.

But, I'm half-planning on Tarnished Coast.

That's the one thing I'm worried about, especially as a pre-purchaser and getting in three days in advance.  To pick a server that suddenly explodes when it's released to the general public.  ;_;

Let's be fair, they're -all- going to explode. =p

Truth.

Either way, though, we still need to pick a server =)

So far, Tarnished Coast has been the only proposed one. =)

I have no preference, as I just picked one at random during the weekend betas.

Tarnished Coast would be fine with me.  Everyone else?

Works, I guess, since it's the only thing proposed.

I shall see the two of you (and apparently only the two of you) there then. =)

I have just heard of a possible alternative and figured I'd toss it out there, just in case.

As reported from someone in a WoW roleplay guild that I belonged to for several years, the Tainted Coast server is starting to be talked about as an unofficial RP server that the community is going to try and gather together at.  I, personally, have always enjoyed a bit of roleplay with my MMOs.  So far I haven't heard of any official support for such from the GuildWars2 development staff, however, besides the continuing push for the individual storyline system (which does admittedly look interesting).

Tainted Coast isn't listed. Think your guys might mean Tarnished Coast =)

...well I feel silly now.  Though this certainly simplifies any choices I might have been having to consider.  :)

Well, to make the initial decision easier, ArenaNet is going to allow free server transfers at the start, at least until the server populations somewhat stabilize (so probably at least a week or two from launch), so if we're not happy with Tarnished Coast, we could always move.

What professions are you two interested in playing? Best I've been able to dig up, we'll likely get 4-5 character slots at launch.

I will probably make a human engineer, asura guardian, norn mesmer and sylvari elementalist, and focus on...well, whichever I feel like at the start, honestly. I did enjoy my engineer/elementalist from beta, but I'll probably start with the asura guardian just to try something new, I think.

Oh, I dunno. I'll likely have Ranger, Warrior, and Elementalist characters. Whichever one becomes my main will be played with my bro. The others will be off/down-time characters.

Welp, family did it again.

My bro decided to play on a different server than the previously agreed upon one, so I'll be on Jade Quarry.

Yay family.

So ... why exactly do you want to play with him?

Jade Quarry's a full server, so can't transfer characters there. I could try to delete all the characters I made and start over there...but meh, we said Tarnished Coast, and that's where I'm at.

Given that Jade Quarry was a target server for a lot of WvW guilds from early on, I'm assuming that's why he picked that. If that's the case, I hope no guild takes him! =p

Well, I'll be joining you on Tarnished Coast, then.

Edit: Or, evidently, actually be playing on Henge of Denravi, it seems....

*laughs* Looks like we're all getting split up.

We can all still play together through the contact list and guest system, at least, just won't be doing WvWvW together.

Yeah, I couldn't care less about WvW, unfortunately. >_>;

The fact that it seems the hardcores have already chosen a single server tells me it's going to be competitive enough I really wouldn't enjoy it.  So I'm just going to pretend it doesn't exist.

I edited the first post for server info and account contact info (just mine right now).

Post yours if you want to be added.

As an individual holding a long and proven record of skill suckage at PvP and WvWvW environments, I am happily settled in on Tarnished Coast.   (http://www.tabyk.net/emotes/whistle.gif)

This game could keep me entertained on it's jumping puzzles alone.

I got it installed.

I'm on some random server until Henge opens up.  Then I shall Henge and ruin Iruka-sensei's day.

So your first character will be a blonde human or norn Mesmer called Naruko-chan? =p

Dead of Winter is the goddamn hardest personal storyline quest ever.

EDIT:

Okay, this quest is fucking ridiculous. About halfway in, there is a veteran risen abomination that has two abilities, Frenzy and Regeneration. I can't kite it, because it regenerates faster than I can hurt it while kiting. I can't melee it, because it can kill me in 2-3 shots because of frenze. Advice on the web is to try to use the environment to kill it (there's a room right before it where spikes occassionally rise up from the ground and spear you if you're standing in a trapped spot), but the thing kills me before the environment can kill it, then it runs out of the room and heals up.

What the hell?

This is obnoxiously hard.

EDIT the second! Laggy is awesome. =D

Obligatory post to mention that GW2 is releasing new (temporary) Living Story content. If you were around for the Karka stuff, it's like that, but only sticks around for like 2 weeks. The highlights of this new release (Bazaar of the Four Winds) is new armor skins, new crafting material to help make Celestial exotic armor/weapons and a fairly cool new area.
