Title: 'Gamers seeking gamers' concept
Post by: Brian on February 25, 2013, 06:36:31 PM
I suppose in a general sense, it's not really anything new, but I also can't recall seeing something like this before:

Not sure what to think.

Necro-ing a month old thread: I do see that sort of thing a fair bit, though I've never put my name down.  What strikes you as so weird about it?

I don't know about weird.

Just unexpected.

It may be common, and I've just not seen the like before.

Well, it's not like we're particularly social animals :P

It is ever hard to identify possible groups.

Heheh.

I don't think I'd want to play a game in person with people I've never met.  It'd just be . . . weird.   I dunno.

I've actually signed up for one of those types of meetups recently...sorta. It was for board games, not tabletop roleplaying, but same idea in general, and the site I signed up on does actually have a meetup for tabletop roleplaying too, I just don't wanna drive out for D&D4e, which is the current game that meetup is doing.

It's pretty fun to meet new people, although there's a bit of awkwardness in the start since you don't know anyone and unless a game is about to start up, to get involved. Once you get past that though, it's fun, since gaming is just such a good way to enjoy other people's company.
