Feather Bracers

These feathered bracers are warm and close-fitting. They grant the wearer a bird's agility, giving them a +5 competence bonus to climb checks. These bracers also protect from the pain of falls. When you fall, reduce the distance fallen by 100ft for the sake of damage (minimum 0ft). Thus, falling 100ft or less is harmless when you wear these bracers.

High Justifier: Bastard Sword+1. Grants a +2 bonus to saving throws versus fear. Once per day as an immediate action, the wielder may prevent any secondary effects from an attack. This negates things such as poison, negative levels or extra injury in addition to hit point loss.

Also one day we should figure out what all those potions do.

I presume the vast majority of the treasures looted there are in safekeeping at the Holset Farmstead for practical reasons.

Gildas finds an appraiser. He'll do the work but he charges 3% of the item's cost as a fee, rounded to the nearest silver with a minimum of 1 silver cost.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest

Title: Re: Treasures of the forest

Amber shards are...Elvish Amber Droplets. These droplets are a type of collectable art object, worth 120 gold in total. You can sell them without incident and it's also a 3 gold and 6 silver appraisal fee.

The golden nugget is...a golden nugget! It's worth 100 gold. You can sell that without incident and that's a 3 gold appraisal fee.

Assuming you want to sell either of them. Let me know if you're sell/keeping and how you're paying for the appraisals.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Nephrite on July 05, 2013, 05:14:08 PM
Gildas will ask the appraiser if he'd be interested in having the Droplets donated to the town as a gift from the travelers. If not, he'll just take the money and sell them.

He'll take 93 gold for the nugget and tell the shopkeeper to keep the silver.

He will also ask about Masterwork Backpacks, assuming there's probably someone besides the appraiser who sells those.

Yes and this would trigger a scene IC.

There's a few shops around town and Gildas could get them there.

Several bits of steel jewelry - Assorted steel jewelry. It comes to a total of 39 gold and 4 silver.
Silver pendant - Silver-plated pendant. 10 gold.
Silver chain - Silverlink chain. 45 gold.
Silver ring - Silver and mithril ring. 280 gold.
Butterfly pin wrought of gold - Fake gold butterfly pin.  2 gold.
A string of silver balls cored out and made into a necklace - Silverball necklace. It's noted that design is from the eastern human lands and was in favor with nobles a century ago. 200 gold.
Blue gemstone - Fake sapphire (glass) - 1 gold.
Red gemstone - Fake ruby (glass) - 1 gold.
Clear gemstone - Fake diamond (glass) - 1 gold.
Clear gemstone - Goshenite beryl. 300 gold.
Purple gemstone - Fake amethyst - 1 gold.
Shards of various precious and semi-precious metals - This is hard to price. She'll offer you 50 gold for it all and this write up assumes that you agree to that. She concedes you may be able to get more if you shop the better fragments around to the right sellers. It's a mish-mash as it stands.
Gold ingot - Gold ingot. 500 gold. This ingot isn't stamped (odd) but it's a standardized measure. Unfortunately Elya doesn't know any more about it.
8 potions (magical) - See below.
Potion of Shield of Faith+3 - 300 gold.
Potion of Hide from Undead - 50 gold.
Potion of Hide from Undead - 50 gold.
Potion of Protection from Arrows 10/magic - 300 gold.
Potion of Remove Fear - 50 gold.
Potion of Cat's Grace - 300 gold.
Potion of Cure Light Wounds - 50 gold.
Potion of Eagle's Splendor - 300 gold.

10+1.97+0.50+2.25+14+0.10+10+0.05+0.05+0.05+15+0.05+2.5+25+15+2.5+2.5+15+2.5+15+2.5+15=151.52

Thus her final fee is 152 gold, 5 silver and 2 copper.

Is she willing to take any of the items as payment, or would she prefer gold itself?
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Anastasia on July 11, 2013, 08:50:16 PM
She has the funds to make purchases as needed, as long you don't mind gold/platinum coins and trade markers. She can also write a legally binding (within Malaines, though most elven settlements in the area would honor it) demand note for the money if you'd prefer that.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Nephrite on July 11, 2013, 08:51:26 PM
Well, since Gildas basically made the first purchase by himself, he will consult with the others to get their opinions.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Anastasia on July 11, 2013, 08:57:39 PM
For information, a quick primer.

A demand note is a legally binding document, essentially a formal IOU. You can present it at any elven city or settlement that honors it to receive that money on demand. Of course local realities may make this difficult (not many have all that much loose coin sitting around), but they're an extremely simple way to carry a lot of cash. Of course, the downsides are rather obvious. An elven demand note will generally be honored in any elven settlement or city once properly verified. It's possible that elven merchants may accept a verified note in payment, but most of the time a demand note can't be used to buy or sell things.

This is something your town could do one day if you get bigger.

Post by: Ebiris on July 12, 2013, 01:54:35 PM
I figure we're best off getting shiny money since the kobolds won't care for paper money, and they're gonna be our biggest trade/labour source at the beginning.

Also having money I can hold would be nice.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest

A string of silver balls cored out and made into a necklace - Silverball necklace. It's noted that design is from the eastern human lands and was in favor with nobles a century ago. 200 gold.

lets sell all these for 289 gp, 4sp, and use that to pay her fee leaving 136gp, 8sp, 8cp for us to divide as money and leave the rest for barter goods?
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Corwin on July 12, 2013, 02:06:24 PM
Let's bring the potion of remove fear with us when we go places, just in case. I also want to keep the CLW potion to see how it might compare to the healing water we have. The rest should be sold, I think, since the kobold trader said prices for gems were dropping and there's no demand for them. If we do get something people want to buy, we can hold off on that.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Ebiris on July 12, 2013, 02:15:53 PM
Okay, per Cor's suggestion we'll keep the following for later bartering or usage:

Silver pendant - Silver-plated pendant. 10 gold.
Silver chain - Silverlink chain. 45 gold.
Silver ring - Silver and mithril ring. 280 gold.
Butterfly pin wrought of gold - Fake gold butterfly pin.  2 gold.
A string of silver balls cored out and made into a necklace - Silverball necklace. It's noted that design is from the eastern human lands and was in favor with nobles a century ago. 200 gold.
Gold ingot - Gold ingot. 500 gold. This ingot isn't stamped (odd) but it's a standardized measure. Unfortunately Elya doesn't know any more about it.
Potion of Remove Fear - 50 gold.
Potion of Cure Light Wounds - 50 gold.

And sell all of these:

Several bits of steel jewelry - Assorted steel jewelry. It comes to a total of 39 gold and 4 silver.

Potion of Hide from Undead - 50 gold.
Potion of Hide from Undead - 50 gold.
Potion of Protection from Arrows 10/magic - 300 gold.
Potion of Cat's Grace - 300 gold.
Potion of Eagle's Splendor - 300 gold.

Totals up to 1,693gp and 4sp

Less appraisal fee of 152gp, 5sp, 2cp that comes to 1,540gp, 8sp, 8cp

Divided between the four of us we each get 385gp, 2sp, 2cp

For bookkeeping purposes:

Gildas

Your unarmed strikes/natural attacks gain the verminbane property. They gain a +1 enhancement bonus.

Feather

Your bastard sword gains the verminbane property. If it isn't already +1, increase to +1.

Porridge

Your axe gains the verminbane property. If it's not +1, increase it to +1.

Myann

Her longsword becomes +1, verminbane.

Everyone got essentially the same thing. Material weapons were prioritized over natural ones when possible, and natural/unarmed strikes were favored over magic. If someone had no magic, natural/unarmed strikes or weapons, they'd lose out entirely. Not that I expected this to happen.

This amulet is made from a stone basked in positive energy for countless years. It grants the wearer a +2 bonus to saving throws against disease. Once per day it can be invoked as a full round action to grant fast healing 1 to the wearer for 1 minute. Doing so renders the +2 bonus to saving throws against disease nonfunctional until the next sunrise.

Ant figurine

Once per day, this figurine can be invoked as a standard action. If so, it becomes a worker mindant. The creature will respond to any order from the creature that invoked it. The ant stays for up to one hour or until its hit points are reduced to zero. Once done, it returns to being a figurine and cannot be used until the after the next sunrise.

Any creature that holds the figurine knows how to use it automatically. The mindant is controlled by the DM.

Bow of Dragon's Roar

Longbow+1, frost. If used by a half-dragon or similar draconic creature, it allows focusing a breath weapon. This magic is beyond you to understand. Not out of any skill, but that it's been obscured from the eyes of all but dragons.

Appraisal fee is 3%. Tally that up and deduct it after that.

Silver ringx2 - Snowflake Insignia Ring. 50 gold each, total of 100 gold.
Gold Bracelet - 75 gold.

Ring of the Frostfall

This ring grants 1d6 points of bonus cold damage to the wearer's melee attacks. Only functions when it is below freezing or worn by a creature with the cold subtype, white dragon blood or heritage from another cold related creature.

Large Greathammer+1, merciful.

Potion of Frost Breath

As an Elixir of Fire Breath, but cold damage instead.

Selling the rings and the bracelet for a total of 175g.

175 * .03 = 5.25

169g, 7silver, 5copper divided by 3 = 56.583

56g, 5s and 8 copper to Feather, Gildas and Myann. The remaining 1 copper can go to the appraisal fee.

Vermin's Nightmare

Longbow+1, verminbane. Has a x4 critical multiplier when used against vermin. This weapon only functions if wielded by Feather, Porridge, Gildas or Myann. In addition, it has special powers for each of them if they wield it.

Feather: Once per day, you may channel as spell into a ranged attack made with Vermin's Nightmare. This functions as arcane channeling, except you can channel the spell into a single arrow. If you miss, the spell and your daily use of this ability are not consumed.
Porridge: If you damage a creature with an arrow from Vermin's Nightmare and then attack them in melee, you gain a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls against that creature until the end of the encounter.
Gildas: This weapon does not meld into your form when you shapeshift, but instead hangs safely on your back along with any arrows. Three times per day, you may use Vermin's Nightmare to attack while shapeshifted, regardless of your form or any difficulties it would pose. Each instance of this power lasts for 1 round.
Myann: Unclear. All of what our diviners and shamans saw were mushrooms.

Wyvern's Armor

This brown scale armor grants a +6 armor bonus to armor class, has a maximum dex bonus of 3, an armor check penalty of 3, an arcane spell failure chance of 20% and is treated as light armor. Once per day as a swift action, the wearer can imbue his next melee attack with wyvern poison (DC 17 Fort negates, 2d6 Con/2d6 Con primary and secondary damage).

Myann chips in 500 gold. The result is...

Zygraat Spidersilk Armor+1

This light armor resembles a tunic more than armor, made of layers of strong spidersilk. It is light armor that grants a +3 armor bonus (+4 total with +1), a -1 ACP (0 with masterwork), 5% ASF and +8 maximum dexterity. Spidersilk naturally accepts enchantments, reducing the time of enchanting it by half.

If I did this correctly, we have...

Kobold payment 1, 2 and 3

100 gold coins x3
200 silver coins x 3
1000 copper coins x 3

390 gold total for the farm, if I am correct.

Pile of coins from wolf den
1 Wrapped bag of coins from under the prickly bed
Scroll

These things I must've missed if they were ID'ed.

Gildas has the Ring of Frostfall and the Verminbane bow.

Other crap:

3 sealed iron vials of knockout poison. DC 15 Fort, asleep for 1 minute/asleep for 1d4 hours. Each vial has enough to coat 1 melee weapon or 5 ranged weapons such as arrows or darts.
Large Greathammer+1, merciful.

Potion of Frost Breath---As an Elixir of Fire Breath, but cold damage instead.

and then from way earlier, we still have all this stuff:

Pile of coins from wolf den becomes...

A mistake. I think I misidentified this as non-magical at some point, as well as missing getting it appraised last time. So with revisions it is: Scroll of Chill Touch.

From the most recent bout, I'm holding onto the ice-dragon bow, and we still have the dragon-croc skil/scales/teeth to barter with the kobolds over.

Other stuff:

Cloak of the Hidden Face: This cloak was worn by a gorgorath who was shamed about her appearance from birth. Neither orc or elven, she was eventually driven to scour her face with fire to hide her true race and then took on this cloak to hide her deformity. This cloak grants a +5 competence bonus to disguise checks while worn.

Masterwork daggerx2: 300 gold each, 600 total.

Rings of the Eternal Bond: This pair of iron rings appear rusty and otherwise unremarkable. When worn by most people, they have no effect at all. However, if the rings are worn by a married couple, they grant a +1 resistance bonus to saving throws and a +1 deflection bonus to armor class.

This brings us up to the wolf den, where Neph started counting. Are we doing anything with the ring of frosty punches?

These arrowheads can replace the arrowhead of a normal arrow. They deal an extra 2d6 points of fire damage to the target of the arrow and any creatures adjacent to it in a flash of heat. Emperor's Armor, damaged.

This full plate armor is full of enchantments and magic. The problem is that it's damaged. The breastplate is shattered and other parts are dented from the battle against him. It needs serious repairs before it can be used or fully analyzed. While intact, the enchantments are dormant while in such a state. You'd need to find a skilled wizard to repair this.

Cold iron quarterstaff +1/+1. The first critical hit in a round dealt by Headringer has an x4 critical hit multiplier. Personal cash:

153 silver coins.

I keep mine separated since that's how we usually get it. I figure everyone can get in on this, from the other PCs to Myann to anyone else who has silver/platinum and care.

Let's convert it all to gold.

Myann has 82 silver to add. Right now 3.2 silver=1 gold. Y'all can do the math from there to how much this converts to, post the results.

Edit: 1 platinum coin is trading for 14.8 gold. Work from there.

Shared stuff.
Platinum: 41 x 14.8 = 606.8 gold
Silver: 130 / 3.2 = 40.625 gold
Comes up to 647 gold and 1 silver left

Kobold payment stuff.
Silver: 800 / 3.2 = 250 gold

Feather.
Silver: 153 / 3.2 = 47.8125 gold
Comes up to 47 gold and 2 silver left

Myann.
Silver: 82 / 3.2 = 25.625 gold
Comes up to 25 gold and 2 silver left

Gildas.
Silver: 38 / 3.2 = 11.875 gold
Comes up to 11 gold and 2 silver left

We're losing a few fractions, it's no big deal.

Gildas's unarmed attacks gain the undead bane special quality.
John's weapon (both sides) gains fiercebane(undead) special quality. Note that it constantly glows within this tower, so keep that in mind.
Myann's weapon gains the undead bane special quality.

From the herb room

3 jars of herbs. (DM note: 20, 6, 17) (one of them got used for Grah)

Signet ring - Iron signet ring of a faraway house. 20 gold.
Gold ring - Golden wedding ring. 100 gold.

Magical Backpack

The Wandering Knight's armor will get buried deep enough animals won't casually get to it and covered with rocks. (Still need to go get this) Just kidding.

Bow (Myann has this)

13 arrows - Acid arrows. Each arrow deals an extra 1d6 points of acid damage. The arrow is ruined after being shot from the acid. (Feather has these)

Metal belt - Belt of Mental Awakening. This belt, if worn by a mindless creature or a creature with 1-2 intelligence, increases their intelligence to 10. They can speak dwarven automatically. With time they will gestalt, gain feats and develop as any other intelligent creature. There's also a curse tied to the belt, but Feather can't decipher it. (Gildas has this, we should try and figure out the Curse)

And finally, the Coin bag - Has 49 gold, 12 silver and 43 copper in it that we pilfered from Maren.

I believe that is everything. We never fully identified the magical backpack specifically but we have a good idea of what it can do.

Myann'll take 10 for 31 on appraising.

Jar of Cottonmouth Herbs (23 doses)

These herbs, if administered orally, cause dehydration (Sandstorm, page 15) with a DC 17 Fortitude save to negate. Cottonmouth Herbs are also useful in cooking certain types of cooking, preservation and similar fields. Each dose can sell for 10 gold on the open market.

Jar of Mixed Herbs (49 doses)

This jar is nothing but mixed herbs. It looks like a blend useful in specific magic rituals. These would go for up to 5 gold per dose on the open market.

Jar of Thornwert (29 doses)

Thornwert is a powerful stimulant. One dose properly administered (DC 15 profession: herbalist check required) wakes the target. This negates magical sleep effects of a non-permanent duration. As a stimulant, it is harsh on the body and deals 1 point of nonlethal damage per dose. More than one dose per day can cause permanent damage and possibly death. A single dose would go for 20 gold on the open market.

The backpack is beyond Myann's skill in spellcraft, as she has none at all. Her magic is entirely natural with her mantle anyway, she's no good at this fancy lernin' and castin'. Both you and Feather leveled up, so you can both take new cracks at spellcrafting it. Ditto with the belt. Feel free to roll for those in #elysium (note which bot you're using when you roll) and post the results here.

Feather can tell the belt's curse with time to study it in depth. The belt ensures the creature that wears it is fanatically loyal to Ardaman of Bluespire. They will do anything that person asks, even unsafe or suicidal orders.

Backpack still eludes Feather. The magic is complicated.

Gemstone of Life

This gemstone has been super-charged with countless years of exposure to the energy beneath the healing spring. Three times per day, it may be used to heal a creature touching it 3d8+10 points of damage. Alternately, if broken against the body of a creature, all the stored energy will flow into the creature. The effects of this are uncertain but likely to be spectacular.

Found in a cloth pouch

Several small gemstones, as follows.

Red quartz: 15 gold.

Bright red almandine: 135 gold. (Myann wanted this one, if I recall)

Stone treasure chest

A heap of coins

Myann is taking 10 on these unless noted otherwise. She's also using appraising touch for a total of 30.

Stone box goodies

12 copper, 32 silver and 9 gold.
Gold anklet with purple ribbons: 150 gold.
Signet ring decorated with a lion and eel: 40 gold.
Ceremonial silver dagger: Not suitable to be a weapon, 50 gold.

Found in a cloth pouch

Red quartz: 15 gold.
Agate: 5 gold.
Bright red almandine: 135 gold. (Myann wanted this one, if I recall)
Snow white natrolite: 40 gold.
Polished white onyx shard: 60 gold.
Orange wulfenite: 85 gold.

Stone treasure chest

45 copper, 63 silver and 50 gold coins.
9 gold plated lead coins. These forgeries are only worth 1 copper. However, it requires a DC 25 Appraise check for the nature of the coins to be detected.
Potion of Lesser Vigor

Raptorian's treasure chest

Pendant of Mental Potency: This pendant boosts the wearer's psionic reserves. For the sake of determining bonus power points based on a high key manifesting ability, the wearer may count his ability score as 4 points higher. For example, a psychic warrior with a wisdom of 14 would count as having a wisdom of 18 to determine bonus power points.

Another treasure chest

Masterwork scythe: 300 gold.
17 copper, 94 silver and 46 gold coins.
4 gold plated lead coins. See above.
Nephrite jade: 40 gold. (This was rolled randomly, by the by.)
Refined tabasheer gem: 170 gold.
Beautiful violet topaz: 900 gold.
Potion of Conviction
Silver beaded pouch: 67 gold.
Silver and amber earrings: 100 gold.
Iron choker set with a large moss green opal: 350 gold.

Old backpack's treasures (all magic 'cept the coins)

23 copper, 36 silver and 12 gold.
14 gold plated lead coins. See above.
Everful Bounty: This pouch produces 2d6 chunks of fresh bread per day. Each chunk functions as a berry enchanted by the goodberry spell. The bag replenishes itself each dawn. Myann notes that if she holds it at dawn, it will produce mini-mushrooms that do the same thing. It's most likely an item of Sidhe construction according to her.
Potion of Endure Elements
Potion of Resist Energy 10 (Electricity)
A magnifying glass - Sun Scorcher. 1/day can mimic a 3 beam scorching ray. Sets things its focused at on fire.
Clothes of Prosperity: These clothes grant a +5 competence bonus to appraise, bluff, profession(merchant) and sense motive checks. However, they turn the wearer into a pathological liar that only cares about gaining wealth.

Invisible chest's contents

Greataxe - Subterranean Pride: Greataxe+2, increases the bonuses granted by rage by +2. Only functions underground.
Griffon helmet: 80 gold.
39 copper, 12 silver and 2 gold.

Hidden cache

Question: Scimitar+1. If used to wound a creature, it enables Answer's power. See below.
Answer: Scimitar+1. If used to slay a creature already wounded by Question, the wielder may ask a single question as an immediate action. The dying creature will answer it truthfully and to the best of its ability. A question must be reasonably brief or the creature will finish dying before it can answer the question.
349 copper, 58 silver, 124 gold
23 gold plated lead coins. See above.
Squares of red, blue and yellow cloth - Not enchanted. The magic is in the crystals. The cloth is plain and not worth anything in particular.
15 relay crystals. These crystals can be used to control certain mechanisms. This would take a load more study as they're part of a greater design. It looks quite possible to learn, but it's specialized knowledge.
Control crystal. As above, tied to control the magic of the underground shrine.

The secret treasure

6 small diamonds, each worth 500 gold. Alternately, each may be swallowed whole. What will happen isn't clear, but it's evident that consuming them all at once will have a stronger effect than consuming only one. It's likely some sort of permanent effect, but you aren't sure.
Potion of Owl's Wisdom
Potion of Fox's Cunning
Furious Flute: If played (a standard action) and the player succeeds on DC 15 Perform(wind instruments) check, a creature within 30ft gains a +4 bonus to strength and constitution for 1 minute. The flute may be used at will, but each time per day it is used past the first, the perform DC increases by 5.
Eternal Lance: This wand may be used by any creature with spellcasting or manifesting to emit a bolt of force. This is a standard action and requires a ranged touch roll. The bolt of force does 2d8 damage and has a range of 80ft.

The same for the other crystals.

He isn't really interested in any of the equipment specifically.

Myann wants the following (and can be deducted from her cut of the gold). If she runs over the split, let me know.

Ceremonial silver dagger: Not suitable to be a weapon, 50 gold.
Red quartz: 15 gold.
Agate: 5 gold.
Bright red almandine: 135 gold.
10 of the fake gold coins, to keep as a novelty. (1 sp in actual value)
Silver and amber earrings: 100 gold.
Iron choker set with a large moss green opal: 350 gold.

In addition, the sun scorcher and eternal lance are ranged attack options and should be kept around, in her opinion.

More on the diamond stuff and more sorting. Typing's still really slow.

Yeah, definitely, the healing crystal is still there. You and Myann have heals so it makes sense if either I or Eb holds onto it. Whichever works best?

I think figuring out the diamonds loses part of the charm, but if you have an actual angle on them rather than 'let's ask mages we know' I'm cool with a quest to find that out.

Except for the following items:

Masterwork Scythe
Griffon Helmet
Clothes of Prosperity
Question
Answer

Gildas would like to put everything they found from the temple in the bag. Will that all fit?

I'd also like to remind everyone we never sold the stuff from the Johann excursion or actually went and fixed the magic armor, correct?

We also have the Wandering Knight's armor laying around for a rainy day, if I recall.

Feather can eat the diamonds or whatever needs to happen with that. After the incident with the crystal dust, he'd rather not put anything else like that in his system.

EDIT: Also, who is officially carrying the Healing Stone around with them? We probably ought to sort that out.

EDIT 2: If we total all the gold and gems up, including a few items not sold from the Necromancer run (gold ring et. al from Maren) then the total is 1964. If we include Myann's items as well, the total is 2619 in gold only. That split comes out to 654.75, which is actually... exactly as much as Myann's items taken out is. it's 655 gold, so close enough.

There are a total of 307 silver coins, which if divided total 76.75, so i'd just round it up to 77 and take 76 silver for myself.

I am not including any of the potions in this, as I will keep all of them unless someone else wants them.

I also agree we should keep all the magical items, just in case. Except maybe the weapons?

Discussion at the time suggested that it should be John or Feather, as Myann and Gildas can already heal.

Y'all have one of those? Do you mean that backpack or am I missing something?
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest

Backpack, bag, it's the magic thing we put stuff in.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Anastasia on February 19, 2014, 01:27:58 PM
Right.

Not to be (further) obtuse, but what are are you trying to get in the bag? Could you link me to the post in question that lists all of the things you got in there, sans what you want? Alternately, just post that?
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Nephrite on February 19, 2014, 01:34:26 PM
I had asked, but now that I think about it, if we're intending to sell everything it's sort of a moot point.

These are the items we'd put in the Backpack of Not-Holding-But-Probably:

Everful Bounty: This pouch produces 2d6 chunks of fresh bread per day. Each chunk functions as a berry enchanted by the goodberry spell. The bag replenishes itself each dawn. Myann notes that if she holds it at dawn, it will produce mini-mushrooms that do the same thing. It's most likely an item of Sidhe construction according to her.

A magnifying glass - Sun Scorcher. 1/day can mimic a 3 beam scorching ray. Sets things its focused at on fire.

And sell everything else, unless we have reason to hold onto it. The kobolds mentioned something about gem prices being lower right now though, so would that impact this?

All of that's pretty light and carryable in it then, Gildas.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Anastasia on February 19, 2014, 02:11:07 PM
Also, Myann'll take the everful bag if you want. It's less that it's useful to her and more that she may as well carry any (potentially) Sidhe items. If they have hidden downsides or courses, they're far less likely to impede her than y'all.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Nephrite on February 19, 2014, 02:18:06 PM
That's fine. Gildas will hold onto the actual backpack in that case. As a reminder, it also contains the Encyclopedia that offers +2 circumstance checks for knowledge.

Gildas would like to learn some languages from the Kobolds if such a thing is possible.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Anastasia on February 19, 2014, 04:53:55 PM
Sure. What languages do you want to learn?

(Quick. Eb and/or Cor, how does learning languages work in Pathfinder's system?)
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Nephrite on February 19, 2014, 04:59:34 PM
Dwarven for sure. Do Kobolds have their own language?

I'm not sure what other options there might be.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Anastasia on February 19, 2014, 05:43:45 PM
Okay, took a read of linguistics. Each time you invest a rank into the skill, you learn a new language. Pretty simple. You could learn most any underground based language from the kobolds, are you looking for any in particular?

Go ahead and post any replies in general chatter, this is getting well away from loot.

Rebuilt Emperor's Armor

This armor functions as full plate armor+2. The armor is heavily reinforced with adamantine, granting the wearer damage reduction 3/-. The gauntlets are reinforced with rubies that can channel fire. Once per day as a standard action, the wearer can emit a 30ft cone of fire. This deals 6d8 damage and allows a Reflex save DC 20 to halve. The helmet is inlaid with topaz that channels the inner charisma of the wearer, granting a +3 bonus to Charisma-based checks.

Fairy's Backpack

This backpack was created by a mage who studied the secrets of the fey. Before he went mad, he created a backpack with the principals of space in the fey realm. This backpack has no extra space in it, but it can hold up to 50 pounds of goods without it counting against a person's encumbrance. It's an unfinished product and could likely be improved further. As of now, it's a highly useful luxury for travel.

Preparation for looting is a go. Since most of this won't be opposed, I need the following things from you:

How you're planning to loot in the palace. EDIT: We'll deal with any non-palace areas later. This just concerns the palace.
What sort of goods you're looking for in particular.
General searching philosophy and goals.
Relevant modifiers to appraise, perception and any relevant knowledge skills. Also note if anyone has trapfinding. I'd like these for the whole party. If your style of searching begs any other modifiers (such as stealth if you're trying to be sneaky, for example), list those too.
Any spells/abilities/ect that might matter.

Commander's Sword

Greatsword+2, ghost touch. Three times per day as a swift action, grants 10 temporary hit points to the wielder. These hit points vanish if the sword is no longer being used.

Thane's Wand

Wand of Lightning Bolt (8d6), 9 charges left.
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Ebiris on April 10, 2014, 04:28:12 PM
Perception +15 and I do have trapfinding. Potentially relevant are knowledge (arcana) +6, use magic device +12, heal +15, and profession (farmer) +15.

Priority for loot is magic items > portable valuables > exotic if not necessarily valuable stuff > everything else

Basically do a room by room search, taking 10 and quickly tearing the place apart, grabbing anything shiny and having Myann appraising anything borderline, then moving on.

Works?
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Nephrite on April 10, 2014, 04:31:25 PM
I am fine with Eb's suggestion.

I don't mind using my Wand of Detect Magic for this if we need to, by the way. It has 42 charges.

Relevant modifiers to appraise, perception and any relevant knowledge skills. Also note if anyone has trapfinding. I'd like these for the whole party. If your style of searching begs any other modifiers (such as stealth if you're trying to be sneaky, for example), list those too. +12 Perception, +6 Alchemy, +12 K:N and +12 Profession (Herbalism)
Any spells/abilities/ect that might matter. Detect Secret Doors maybe?
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Anastasia on April 10, 2014, 04:35:13 PM
Quick question: DM lasts 1 min/level. Assuming this search takes over an hour (highly likely), you'll be dipping into wand charges then. How many charges does your wand have, Gildas? Just edit it into your post.

Myann goes along with it. Her relevant mods are: Appraise+10, Knowledge(Arcana)+12, Knowledge(Nature)+12, Perception+14, Profession(Cook)+4, Profession(Herbalist)+10

Eb's suggestion is quite reasonable.

I have trapfinding, Detect Magic 4/day (giving me 36 minutes of detection) and flawless stride so that any rubble in the place doesn't impede me.

Skills: Acrobatics (9) +16, Climb (4) +15,  Knowledge/Arcana (9) +14, Knowledge/Dungeoneering (9),  Knowledge/Nature (9) +13, Knowledge/Religion (9) +13, Perception (9) +13, Profession/Herbalism (9) +13, Spellcraft (9) +15

Post by: Anastasia on April 10, 2014, 11:00:38 PM
Okay, so y'all are searching for treasures. Things that aren't portable will be disregarded unless they're exceptional or otherwise noteworthy. You can assume this includes a lot of stonework and larger pieces of art. If there's something oversized you want to keep an eye out for, speak up and I'll mention if you saw anything that fits that bill.

The palace is sprawling and well designed. It has four stories and several interconnecting subbasements.

Fourth Floor

This is mainly viewing rooms, entertainment and suites of rooms. The back windows show an excellent view of a magma-fall plunging into a lake of lava farther down. Despite the relative closeness, it's not any warmer there; the back walls look to be enchanted to redirect the heat. Treasures are found here and there, in little cubbies mixed with trinkets lying in the open.

Treasures here are:

Magic Items

Unidentified potion
Mace of Blood: As SRD. Note this is a cursed item and further handling it is at your peril.
Ring of Salvation: Grants a +1 deflection bonus to armor class. This bonus increases to +3 deflection if the wearer is below 50% hit points.

Spellcraftings for this set of magic items:
Spoiler: ShowHide

Portable valuables

36 platinum coins. This platinum emits a constant, low level hum and is of amazing purity. Each coin is worth 1.40 of the face value, for a total of 50.4 platinum.
96 gold coins. These coins are slightly less bulky than surface standard coins but made of purer gold. The difference equals out to a 1.07 modifier, so the coins are worth a total of 102.72 gold. Oddly, several of the coins have irregular mushrooms engravings instead of the face of the deceased thane, these coins notably lack the dust the other coins have accumulated. Myann scowls and mutters about Sidhe, but the gold content isn't changed.
172 silver coins. In comparison to the above, the local silver coins are alloyed with copper. This results in coins only worth 0.85 of the face value, for a total of 146.2 silver.
120 copper coins. These coins are made of a rich, pure copper worth 1.39 the normal value of a copper piece. These coins are worth 166.8 copper.
84 rustless steel coins. While this currency has no value in the Vastwoods, the metal is worth about 65 gold if brought up and melted down. Note that these were found in one cache and nowhere else.
Amber and gold earrings: 99 gold.
A ceremonial gauntlet made of wrought silver and gold: 320 gold.
Carved ivory statuette. Where the dwarves got ivory is anyone's guess: 70 gold.
Silver knife with an emerald pommel stone: 518 gold.
A set of 5 belt buckles made of polished electrum: 20 gold each, 100 gold total.
A talisman of beaten gold: 140 gold.
Dragon comb, a gold dragon with ruby eyes: 698 gold.
Miniature sailing ship, made of darkwood: 50 gold.

Exotic objects

14 feathers from an unknown bird. They are a vivid purple.
A shrunken chair small enough to fit into your hand.
A map of the shrikes. Based on a cursory examination, the city's layout has changed since the fall.

Misc

Nothing. No traps of trouble this floor. Next floor shortly.

Myann's appraise rolls: [spoiler]

> roll 1d20+20 Myann appraise (+10 since appraising touch is hour/level) gold coins
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+20 Myann appraise (+10 since appraising touch is hour/level) gold coins and gets 33." [1d20=13]

> roll 1d20+20 earrings
* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d20+20 earrings and gets 40." [1d20=20]

The rest were 21 and below so auto-pass.

Third Floor

This floor is less opulent and is mostly rooms. Nothing too fancy here but it's not the working areas, either.

Magic Items

Club+1, animalbane.

Portable valuables

68 gold coins. With the modifiers above, it comes to a total of 72.76 gold.
160 silver. With the modifiers above, it comes to a total of 136 silver.
109 copper. With the modifiers above, it comes to a total of 151.51 copper.
A book on dwarvish lore: 25 gold.
Stone statuette studded with opal: 235 gold.

Exotic objects

Misc

Searching about, the party finds a secret compartment in the back of a closet. It has a trap, but the mechanical spring has long since given. You find the following gemstones inside.

Elbaite: 505 gold.
Dark green lazulite: 36 gold.
Orange spinel: 739 gold.

First Floor

This is a mix of opulence and the mundane. The path to the throne room and the throne room (which is subtly walled off from the rest of the second floor and thus counts here) contrast with kitchens, servant's quarters and storerooms.

A small book. It's in dwarven and in shorthand. Gildas can't puzzle it out.

Myann finds a hidden door tucked away in a dark side passage. It leads...to a laboratory! The lab of an alchemist and a mage. Unfortunately it seems there was an explosion here and much of the contents are destroyed. The following can be salvaged.

1/2 of an alchemist's lab: 250 gold.
Antitoxin: 50 gold.

Misc

Feather finds a long-forgotten stairway, tucked away behind great mounds of broken barrels and long lost trash. It leads to a single, simple room. There is a stone dais and sitting on it is a treasure chest. The entire setup radiates strong magic. Feather can figure out the dais and chest are trapped ten ways from Sunday. It will take some intensely good disarming to open that safely. If the traps are sprung, the following will happen all at once:

- The room instantly fills with acid, dealing 10d6 damage per round.
- The room's air vanishes. Anyone in the room must hold their breath.
- The room's temperature rises to blistering hot, dealing 10d6 points of fire damage per round.
- Currents of electricity travel through the acid, shock-frying everyone in the room for 10d6 points of electricity damage per round.
- A bevy of uncertain creatures are immediately summoned around the offender.
- A thin ray fires out at any creature in the room. This seems to be an enervation or similar spell.
- Walls of stone seal off the exit and entrance.
- The chest radiates a powerful fear effect. All creatures within the chamber must make a Will save each round (DC uncertain) or be panicked. Once panicked, the panic lasts for 4d6 rounds.
- Due to the absurd number of spells triggering at once, the room's magic is overstrained. Any spells not cast by the traps or the summoned creatures require a caster level check (DC uncertain) or they fizzle due to magic overload.
- The room's wall are warded against ethereal creatures.

What y'all want to do with that clusterfuck is up to y'all.

John finds a hidden passage! It leads to a room with a heavy, barred steel door that's closed firmly shut. There's magic here but it can't be puzzled out. The door may be able to be forced, it's up to y'all how to proceed there as well.

That's all for the posts. Gildas used 18 charges from his wand of detect magic. This search took roughly half the day when it's all said and done. What you do from here is up to y'all.

Myann will grab a dwarvencraft short sword and heavy mace.

Right, I say we take all the money, jewellery, and wondrous items. Those are all high value and easily portable after all.

Weapons might be trickier but I say we at least try and take them all.

Armour I think can be left behind unless anyone actually plans on wearing it.

Anything else can be taken on an individual caring basis so long as it doesn't impede our ability to take the rest?

Post by: Ebiris on April 11, 2014, 01:26:16 PM
How about this?

Wand of Lightning Bolt (8d6), 9 charges left.
Greatsword+2, ghost touch. Three times per day as a swift action, grants 10 temporary hit points to the wielder. These hit points vanish if the sword is no longer being used.
Ring of Salvation: Grants a +1 deflection bonus to armor class. This bonus increases to +3 deflection if the wearer is below 50% hit points.
Club+1, animalbane.
68 gold coins. With the modifiers above, it comes to a total of 72.76 gold.
160 silver. With the modifiers above, it comes to a total of 136 silver.
109 copper. With the modifiers above, it comes to a total of 151.51 copper.
Elbaite: 505 gold.
Dark green lazulite: 36 gold.
Orange spinel: 739 gold.
Strawberry red quartz: 50 gold.
Violane: 76 gold.
Yellow spinel: 140 gold.
Apelleon: Dwarvencraft Greataxe+1. Grants a +2 enhancement bonus to Intelligence and Wisdom when wielded. The bonus to Intelligence and Wisdom increases to +6 if a dwarf wieldes Apelleon.
Ceremonial dagger, inlaid with chrysoprase: 300 gold
18 gold. At the modified rate, that comes out to 19.26 gold.
59 silver. At the modified rate, that comes out to 50.15 silver.

Golden crown: 500 gold.

Ceremonial dagger, inlaid with chrysoprase: 300 gold
5x gold bars: 1500 gold. Since who doesn't want gold bars on hand?
5x silver bars: 500 gold. See above.
84 rustless steel coins. While this currency has no value in the Vastwoods, the metal is worth about 65 gold if brought up and melted down. Note that these were found in one cache and nowhere else: 65 gold.

She'd like the supplies from Artisan Granite, her and Forgar can set something up with it.

This assumes her share covers all that. In case it doesn't, I'll edit this post to sort it out.

Those items come to a total of 3967.

Could Myann please officially appraise:

2 silver flasks, nonmagical (Used a DM on them!)

And let's see if we can get the stone cloth enchanted or something somewhere? Maybe Forgar would know more about it since he did have a business right next door?

And the +1 Int book also goes to Feather, for record-keeping's sake.

New Location: Forgar's Shop

You can do a few things here.

1. Buy scrolls. The selection is limited and generally no higher than 5th level. Forgar's working out some issues right now (read as: racial hit dice) so ask if you want a particular scroll. There won't be any official shop listing, just ask if you're interested in one.

2. Appraise items. The faculties here grant a +2 bonus to appraise checks. Useful for Myann's at-home appraising.

3. Magic item analysis. If you fail a Spellcraft check to identify a magic item, you can use the tools here to try again with a +2 bonus. Doing so takes three hours of work.

Longsword update.

The longsword that sickened Myann is a cold iron longsword+1. The sword grants an additional +2 bonus to damage rolls against the fey. Fey injured by the blade have to make a DC 20 Fortitude save or contract cackle fever.

Myann takes the following:

Amber and gold earrings: 99 gold.
Silver knife with an emerald pommel stone: 518 gold.
One of the electrum belt buckles: 20 gold.
A talisman of beaten gold: 140 gold.
Dark green lazulite: 36 gold.
Orange spinel: 739 gold.
Strawberry red quartz: 50 gold.
Ceremonial dagger, inlaid with chrysoprase: 300 gold
5x gold bars: 1500 gold. Since who doesn't want gold bars on hand?

84 rustless steel coins. While this currency has no value in the Vastwoods, the metal is worth about 65 gold if brought up and melted down. Note that these were found in one cache and nowhere else: 65 gold.

* Hatbot --> "Kotono rolls 1d100 and gets 54." [1d100=54]

Gildas has gained a greater clarity to how the world works. His Wisdom score rises by 1. There was something there, wonderful and horrible at the same time. A depth that terrifies as much as it entices, a vision of something beyond the awareness of a normal human. Something impossibly vast, staggeringly so. Even that glimpse clarifies the world in ways Gildas wasn't aware it could be clarified in.

Gildas has gained a greater clarity to how the world works, and it's all fucked up. His sanity has a nice little ding in it now. Gildas suffers a -3 penalty to mind-affecting spells and effects. Sometimes things happen to him and it's easier to embrace it than turn away. Sometimes it's just too easy to succumb to the charm spell or mental influence. Like the mushrooms are there, talking to him again.

x5 silver bars at 100 gold each.
x5 gold bars at 300 gold each.
x1 heavy steel shield at 20 gold. Mostly a just in case she needs a shield sort of purchase.
x10 caltrops at 1 gold each. Esha gave her an idea and it never hurts to be prepared.

Vs the kingmaker!

John gains resistance to fire 1.
Gildas's fire resistance rises to 2.
Myann's fire resistance rises to 5. In addition, she gains heat endurance and improved heat endurance as bonus feats.

Feather gains a new special ability.

Heart Blow (Ex)

As a full round action, you may make a single attack at your highest base attack bonus. If you hit, you deal 10d6 points of damage and the target must make a Fortitude save. If it fails, it cannot breath and begins to suffocate. A DC 20 Heal check or 10 points of magical healing negate this and allow the target to breathe again.

Creatures that do not need to breathe or that cannot breathe still take damage from this, but are not at risk of suffocation.

Gildas gains a new special ability.

Knife Slash (Ex)

As a full round action, you may make a single attack at your highest base attack bonus. If you hit, you deal 10d6 points of damage and the target suffers a bleeding wound that deals 2 damage per round. A DC 20 Heal check or 10 points of magical healing negate this and cease the ongoing damage.

John gains a new special ability.

Dragon Blast

Dragon Blast (Ex)

As a standard action, you may unleash a dragon-blast of force from your open palm. This deals 6d6 to all creatures in a 20ft cone in front of you. A Reflex save (DC 10 + 1/2 your hit dice + your Strength modifier) allows half damage.

Whiff on the ring and crown.

Scroll of Sidhe Knowledge

This scroll is cursed. Reading it will bestow a great deal of Sidhe knowledge, but shatter the reader's mind into insanity. The likely result is that the reader eventually becomes a fey. However, it does grant a +4 insight bonus to Knowledge (Nature) and Survival checks after reading.

Mystery Block

This block is designed to be linked to Myann. It allows her to generate golden blocks (as seen before) that have various mushroom spells within them, which emerge on being struck. However, it greatly amplifies the Sidhe energy around her, resulting in creatures nearby slowly slipping into madness. While using it on rare occasion may be safe, it is overall a path to madness.

Bracers of Discipline

These bracers hone a monk's ability to parry. If a character with at least 1 level of monk wears these, they gain a +2 shield bonus to armor class. If they have 5 levels or more, this bonus increases to +3. Ten levels of monk increases this bonus to +4.

Minotaur's Axe

Large greataxe+2, keen. If used by a creature large or larger, it grants a +4 bonus to damage rolls with it. This stacks with the enhancement bonus to damage.

Sure Slicer

Scimitar+3. In the hands of a dervish, they may count their dervish level as 3 higher to determine the bonus to attack and damage rolls while in a dervish dance.

What exactly does it progress?
Title: Re: Treasures of the forest
Post by: Ebiris on June 20, 2014, 05:10:35 PM
A Psionic Fist's class levels stack with his monk levels for the purpose of determining his unarmed damage and bonuses to Armor Class and unarmored speed. His class levels do not apply to other monk abilities such as flurry of blows, slow fall, and so on.

Necklace of Blessings

This necklace grants a +2 deflection bonus to armor class and a +2 resistance bonus to saving throws. In addition, once per day when the wearer is reduced to 0 HP or lower, it automatically casts mass cure light wounds (caster level 15th), with all allies within range being targeted. This includes the wearer.

Tome of Offensive Excellence

A single person can read this tome in an hour and gain the following benefits:

- Proficiency with all simple and martial weapons.
- Exotic Weapon Proficiency as a bonus feat. The weapon is the reader's choice.
- Power Attack and Improved Sunder as bonus feats.

If the reader already has proficiency with all simple and martial weapons, exotic weapon proficiency in one weapon and power attack and sunder as bonus feats, he instead gains +2 Strength. The book can be read once before the magic is expended.

Quote from: Anastasia on June 19, 2014, 02:31:56 PMDM note: Myann also triggered a bonus spell, but apparently I didn't save it and/or can't find it. I'll update this tonight with what she got in another post. This works for now.

This slipped through the wickets awhile, so let's solve it now.

Golden Mushroom
Evocation/Transmutation [Fire]
Level: Sor/Wiz 4
Components: V, S, Special
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25ft + 5ft/2 levels)
Target: One creature
Duration: 1 min/level (D)
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This spell functions as fire mushroom, except as noted here. The target emits golden fireballs that do 5d6 points of damage. In addition, when powerful enemies are defeated with that fireball, gold coins appear.

Note: For the sake of Feather's bonuses, this spell counts as fire mushroom. Likewise if anyone else obtains similar bonuses.

'Wizard's Book'

This odd book seems to be written by Young Hubert. It talks a lot about magic and it makes a lot of sense to John. He may select any two powers from any manifesting class list and gain those as powers known. He can't select powers of a higher level than he can manifest. In addition, he gains a permanent +5 bonus to power points.

Wild Amplifier

This clasp is identical to a wild clasp. In addition, it grants a +2 bonus to Strength, Dexterity and Constitution while the wearer is shapeshifted.

Ring of Mushroom Wizardry

Myann gains double the normal of spell charges when this ring is worn.

Dragon's Gem

When applied to Feather's wyvern armor, this gem dissolves and grants the following benefits: A +2 increase to the enhancement bonus of the armor and the wyvern poison ability gains a +4 bonus to the DC. In addition, the wyvern poison ability may be used at will now (no more than once per turn).

Super Kobold BOOOMS!

These bombs are thrown and require a ranged touch attack to hit. They can be thrown up to 100ft. They deal 12d6 points of fire damage to the creature struck and all creatures within 20ft of the target. If the creature is missed, the bomb explodes 1d6*5ft past the target.

Lifebringer

Longsword+2. Lifebringer has a pool of 100 hit points. When the wielder of Lifebringer takes damage, they may use an immediate action to shift the damage to the sword instead. This damage is subtracted from the pool and the wielder takes no damage. If the pool is fully expended, Lifebringer shatters. Lifebringer's hit point pool replenishes each day at dawn.
