Something caused me to just think about it, but:
Everyone in the ME universe is really atrocious at evidence gathering. "Thousands of colonies have gone empty with no evidence!" "Really? Not all the footprints, or any of their video cameras being fried or blank? Or knocked over things when people were dragged off?"
"We have only Shepard's word this happened? And his crew, and the video recordings on their equipment."
Colonies or colonists?
Both. I think I even rambled on this before.
*air quotes* Reapers.
Well, Eden Prime only has like 3-4 million people on it when Saren tried to blow it up. I imagine most of the colonies hit had maybe 20 people and some equipment. If they were far enough in the boonies it might be a while before anyone realized something is up. Weather erases footprints, reapers erase digital records...
um...
Why am I trying to defend a game where the villains' big plan involves abducting thousands of people so they can juice them into the human reaper? In a universe where cloning is a known thing? Where one of your squad mates is in fact a clone?

To be fair you are running around with a known terrorist outfit. For all they know you could be a
clone. Because cloning is a thing.

Spoiler for Citadel but you should play it if you haven't already.
And Shephard Clones are even more a thing!
