Would Saturday July 12th work for people (two weeks time, can't run on July 5th unfortunately)? Been a few weeks since we last had one.
I was pondering suggesting a Bauza game night... Antoine Bauza is a board game designer who's created games like 7 Wonders, Ghost Stories, Takenoko, Hanabi and Tokaido.
Specifically, I was thinking of us playing the japanese-themed games of Tokaido and Takenoko. Hanabi would have been fun to toss into the mix, but I can't find any online implementation for it, and not something that can really be run on Zun Tzu.
Interest? Availability? Thoughts/preferences for other games?
Tentatively interested, but I won't be able to confirm until closer to the date.
*nods* fair enough as usual. I would have asked for July 5th (next saturday), but I'll be attending a concert then.
Awesome avatar.
I shall intend to make it. Been doing too much crunch lately.
That Saturday's looking a bit worse. I won't know until Thursday or Friday of this week, but you can assume I probably won't make it.
I'd totally forgotten about this thing! So was anyone interested anyway, besides Drac?
I'm out, just to be official. Have to work on top of everything else.
I forgot, and will be working.
But screw it. If you're up for an evening run, I'm good for it :)
You mean evening tonight instead? I don't mind either way.
I'm available tonight, but I got no clue as to what games you plan on playing or how to do so online. PM me some directs, maybe?

Plan was to play Tokaido & Takenoko, both of which are japanese themed games by Antoine Bauza.
The two games happen to have online implementations up in the linked site, Board Game Arena.
Tokaido is a game where you take a journey across Japan, and you try to have the best experience visiting places, meeting people, eating food and buying tourist crap. This is because you get points from experiencing all that, so you win by having the best journey.
Takenoko is a game where you try to win the Emperor's favor by maintaining/growing his bamboo gardens while feeding a hungry Panda that the emperor recieved as a gift from the chinese as part of a diplomatic deal. Meaning that you sadly can't kill the hungry little bastard.
Rules:
Tokaido (http://www.funforge.fr/US/files/tokaido/Tokaido_rules_US_LD.pdf)
Takenoko (http://www.studiobombyx.com/espacepro/takenoko/takenokorules.pdf)
As for time...well, whenever both you and Drac want/are able to, I suppose.
I meant evening tomorrow. Like 6:30pm mayhaps?
6:30 on the morrow sounds plausible.
still works~
Okay, planning to be there.
Thanks for arranging, Merc. Ye are a Legend 1800 years in the making :)
I have learned the rules of Tokaido.
Someone else can feed Genma.
Just as a clarifier: I assume the 6:30pm was PST, so ~2.4 hours to go as of this post.
As usual, for pre-game chat or a quick rules summary, we can meet in #SR-boardgames.
Za. Dracos time is best time.
It's also the only time he can be predicted to show up.
10 minutes to go
The panda was missing, so no gardening of bamboo was done. I think the gardener feared for his life, thinking the emperor was going to kill him for losing his pet panda.
Two beautiful journeys through scenic japan were had, however, by six journeymen in sets of three.
The first journey had a street entertainer, an old man and a messenger. The entertainer met a lot of people along the road and bought souveniers for her friends back home, while the old man rested his weary bones at many hot springs and also met many people and beautiful panoramas. The messenger meanwhile was mostly entranced by the beautiful panoramas, though he also liked to greet strangers and inviting them to join him for a tasty meal along the way. Many friends were made, many more memories will be treasured.
The second journey had a priest, an official, and a cute little orphan girl. The priest might have been thought to be corrupt by some, but he proved them wrong, donating pretty much all his worldly possessions along the way so he could spread his wealth through the temples of Japan. Along the way he rested his weary bones in the hot springs and enjoyed the panoramic views of the mountains and the sea. The official meanwhile was a stingy bastard, spending little and collecting taxes along the way, only donating a few coins to the temples, more focused on his own entertainment and purchasing souveniers and expensive meals along the way. Perhaps the one saving grace to that dirty politician was asking the little orphan girl to collect the taxes along one stop, and allowing her to keep the money, for she seemed to live only off of others kindness and donations. The little girl ate luxurious meals as well at every inn, perhaps someone paid for her meals? Or perhaps her cuteness charmed the innkeepers. Who knows. What little money she had, she spent on beautiful garments and snacks and toys, and visited a little bit of everything with childish glee.
Who knows what future journeys hold for those traveling through the lands of Japan?
*eyes Panda sneaking a view* You're late! >_>
I know! >_>
Had a thing happen. Check your pm.
Yikes! Well hopefully another night then. Good luck with that thing <_<
That sucks >_>
*snorts*
$300 bill (for last month) is the only reason I know it was a problem to begin with. I dread what this month's will look like. And that's before the repairs.
.....ewww
Ouch, sympathies. Hopefully you can recover from whatever that was.
I wasn't very good, but I did have a good time hanging out. It seems like a clever strategy game, that really could be very amusing as a narrative or even cooperative effort.
Definitely had fun, thanks for running, Merc.
