* Now talking in #sonofdunes
<Kotono> ----
<Kotono> Light. Even unawares, Lucy sees the light. The light is all, yet her body feels other things. Pain. A massive headache. The chill of a cold floor. The aches all about her body. It drags her back to awareness.
<Lucy> A stray thought makes her wonder if she destroyed another island, even as she cloaks herself in Darkness.
<Kotono> It doesn't dim the light that fills her eyes. But it soothes in a way, like a balm applied to a burn.
* Lucy tries to form a sensor for Clairvoyance and see through it, getting her breathing slowly in order.
<Kotono> Unfortunately, the light-blinding seems to prevent her from seeing even magical sensors.
<Lucy> 'Help!' Lucy requests telepathically, broadcasting all the way to the edges of her ability out of hope someone will pick up on it.
<Kotono> Ever so softly, a rasping voice whispers into Lucy's ear, "I'm here," a man's voice said. "Oh, are you awake?!"
<Lucy> "Where is here?" Lucy asks from within her shell of Darkness. "Who are you?"
<Kotono> "It's where you go if you can't stop looking," The voice says, like a parent chiding a child. "But it's okay! It's okay!" The voice's tone rises in raspy approval, "You got your wish! The light's taken you down below now."
<Lucy> "This is the surface?" Lucy asks in surprise. She doesn't let her guard down, and listens for any hint of a hostile move. But this is likely a point where she has to concede she might end up wasting time reincarnating, and with little to do about it. "What does the light want with me now that I'm here?"
<Kotono> "Oh you poor thing," The voice laughs, gleeful. "All the light ever wanted for you was to stop looking! Were you warned? Sworn off? Or were you unlucky enough to get this far by yourself?" Lucy feels something warm and wet slither across her cheek, like an insect bloated with blood.
* Lucy calls upon her will to restore her sight, even as she takes an unsteady step back. Showing how scared she is might well buy her a few moments more to come up with a plan. "Who are you?" she repeats, trying her magic.
<Lucy> roll 1d20+10 dispel
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 16 > 12 [d20=6]
<Kotono> No good, nothing happens. Meanwhile the voice giggles like a maniac with his first axe. "Someone who should have looked away, just like you!"
<Lucy> "Let's get out together!" Lucy suggests, trying again desperately. "You don't like it here, I don't like it here-- we can escape together!"
<Lucy> roll 1d20+10
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 20 > 12 [d20=10]
<Kotono> Again, nothing. You hear a grind of metal, "Hold on," the voice says, "Company...."
<Lucy> "Of what?" she asks, reaching behind her with a hand and retreating to the nearest wall to press herself against.
<Kotono> Footsteps ahead - followed by clanking, metal footsteps. Then the sound of metal on metal, followed by a raspy grunt and a cry of pain.
<Lucy> Enough of that! If she's going to die horribly, she will make sure everyone around her regrets it! Drawing deep into her magical reserves, Lucy calls upon a vampire spawn to stand protectively before her! A mummy would have made a better summons, but the intelligence of the vampire would make it much easier for Lucy to reorient herself in this place she found herself at.
<Kotono> roll 1d20+7 (-4 nonprof)

* Kotono changes topic to '????(26)>Jetina(23)>Lucy(8)>Spawn(7) '
<Kotono> Jetina is there. She is wounded in the chest, impaled with a blade. The creature that wields it is...it cannot say. There are not words for it. It is nothing and something and the vampire spawn's mind reels in confusion. The thing's blade comes up again, for Jetina.
<Kotono> roll 1d20+18
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 31 > 12 [d20=13]

<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 45 > 12 [d8=5,7,6,8]
<Kotono> A report - Jetina's wounds are healed! Then...OOC: go.
<Lucy> 'Inform me at once if an attack comes for me!' Lucy instructs the vampiric being. 'Guide my attacks!' Out loud, she orders, "Stand guard over Jetina and protect her!" before summoning a mummy and sending it rushing towards the strange thing which cannot be described!
<Lucy> roll 1d20+13 MUMMY CHARGE
<Serith> Lucy roll for Serith < 22 > 12 [d20=9]
<Lucy> OOC: Actually can it flank with the vampire for +2 more?
<Lucy> OOC: DC16 will on the mummy despair
<Lucy> And as the vampire spawn reports to Lucy that Jetina is lacking in a properly intimidating sword, Lucy grabs her own and tosses it over to the paladin with a yelled, "Here, catch!"

<Kotono> Jetina catches the sword. With her foe paralyzed, she stabs the creature right on. OOC: Coup de grace, since paralyzed and helpless.
<Kotono> roll 1d20 only a 20 is good here
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 5 > 12 [d20=5]
<Kotono> Lucy sees nothing, but hears Jetina's sigh of relief. "We'll talk about your choice of companions later. Are you alright?" she asks.
<Lucy> "I learned that from the sword we found in the forest," Lucy says dismissively. 'Vampire, run ahead to scout and report to me!' she directs the smarter of her minions, before telling Jetina, "I can't see. This was quite literally the only spell I could use."
<Kotono> The vampire runs ahead. It's a cave tunnel - nothing remarkable. Meanwhile, hands touch Lucy as her vision returns. OOC: Blindness cured. You can see.
* Lucy gasps loudly in relief, and hugs Jetina with all her meager strength! "Oh thank you! It was terrible, not being able to see at all! And going from being pulled by those chains into the light, to being knocked out, to this creepy thing trying to kill me--"
