Session Start: Wed Feb 18 11:46:54 2015
Session Ident: #evildunes
* Now talking in #evildunes
* Topic is 'Pepo(18)>Pepo that is not Pepo(11) '
* Set by Kotono on Mon Feb 02 14:22:58
<Kotono> * Veren circles around Bolethon so he can inspect him, but keeps his distance.
<Kotono> > Bolethon's front is stained with blood, for his throat has been slit. He looks quite dead.
<Kotono> > *looks
<Kotono> * Veren moves a bit closer and inspects the body and looking for traps, anything useful on the body, or if he can identify the weapon used.
<Kotono> > Nothing. Veren would guess a single-edged weapon or the like - a sword, dagger or even a sharp razor. Nothing useful is on the body.
<Kotono> * Veren inspects the cavern for other routes out before returning to the water.
<Kotono> > There's a passage on the right side, leading further in.
<Kotono> * Veren moves into the passage as stealthily as possible, shifting back into his normal form. While the last person to go down it was likely the murderer, this other person or thing might have information he needs.
<Kotono> > OOC: Perception.
<Kotono> <Veren> roll 1d20+14 Perception
<Kotono> <Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 31 > [d20=17]
<Kotono> Veren goes down the passage. Soon ahead you see another body - Pepo's. The cat's back is clearly broken and so is his neck. Past this the passage continues onward.
* Veren pauses for a moment to offer a prayer to whatever god watches over psychic cats and hopes Pepo found lots of sunshine, fish, and things to hunt.
<Kotono> This happens without incident.
* Veren continues past the corpse down the passage, making sure to be as stealthy as possible. If whatever killed Pepo is still around, that'll be a challenge indeed, but if it was able to kill the cat, then Veren needs every advantage he eek out.
<Kotono> It's only a few steps further when Veren can hear a distant sound - something clanging, crushing together. It's from far ahead, he'd estimate.
* Veren mentally prepares his Entangling Ectoplasm power and readies his blade before continuing on his way, more cautious than ever.
<Kotono> Ahead the passage turns into a massive cavern. Here the walls become rusty iron. Ahead is a massive series of metal pillars. The ceiling falls and the pillars rise, each clanging into each other steadily. It's disordered, with different parts of the ceiling rising and falling at different points. Sitting near it and peering ahead is Macaron, ears flat against his head. He's fully black-furred
<Kotono> now, no sign of his normal persona.
* Veren peers around the area he can see for any sort of exit.
<Kotono> There might be something ahead - it's hard to tell with everything rising and falling.
* Veren attempts to skirt the wall to circle around, trying to avoid the possibly corrupted Macaron. He doesn't know where he is or what's going on, but the dog has shown its power before, and if at all possible, he'd prefer not to fight or kill him.
<Kotono> OOC: Going to still stealth?
<Veren > OOC: Yep. I'm a spy/assassin type. If I don't have to fight, I'd prefer not to. Especially not someone/thing that's supposed to be my friend.
<Kotono> OOC: Macaron can't beat your stealth total, so no roll here.
<Veren > OOC: What's his size category? Medium?
<Kotono> OOC: Yes.
<Kotono> Veren slips around, but finds that even the pillars against the walls rise up. Going in any direction ahead will be dangerous.
* Veren decides that dealing with both the pillars in the room and a Macaron of uncertain hostility is a poor choice and turns to inspect/study the dog more closely, trying to get a feel for Macaron's general attitude. OOC: Sense Motive or whatever to see if the dog is angry/hostile?
<Kotono> OOC: Sure.
<Veren > roll 1d20+13+3 Sense Motive/Inspiration
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 28 > 12 [d20=12]
<Kotono> Macaron looks uncomfortable. The way his ears are back suggests the noise is bothering him. He looks uncertain, all in all, and perhaps shaken.
* Veren decides to step into Macaron's line of sight, but keeps his Entangling Ectoplasm on the edge of triggering. He doesn't look hostile... Yet. Better to hedge bets than go all in blind.
<Kotono> At this, Macaron's gaze turns to Veren. 'Veren. This place is madness - are you well?'
<Veren > "I believe so. I have come across the bodies of Bolethon and Pepo. Are you well? You seem more disturbed than I would expect."
<Kotono> 'I saw the same,' Macaron whimpers softly, 'I mourn them, but I am well.'
* Veren approaches the dog.
<Veren > "There might be an exit from this... room... on the other side. Shall we continue?"
<Kotono> 'We have little choice,' Macaron agrees, 'I am ready.' OOC: Going on ahead through the dangerous area, then?
<Veren > OOC: Yeppers.
<Kotono> OOC: Ref save, Veren.
<Kotono> roll 1d20+12
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 14 > 12 [d20=2]
<Veren > roll 1d20+16+5 Ref/Inspiration
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 24 > 12 [d20=3]
<Kotono> Veren s fast enough to make it. Ahead there's a door - but Macaron slips behind, caught on a pillar. There's a sickening crunch as pillar meets ceiling. (More)
<Kotono> roll 15d6 ow
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 51 > 12 [d6=5,5,1,3,1,2,4,5,6,1,5,2,4,4,3]
<Kotono> Glancing back, Veren can see Macaron's down. He's clearly hurt terribly or dead, bleeding from several crushed body parts. If he doesn't get help immediately, he'll bleed out (if not already dead), get crushed again and surely die. Of course, going back to save him will be risky.
* Veren moves to retrieve him without hesitation! OOC: Can I use my Levitate power as a stretcher for him? I know it only goes up and down, but can I like physically move it horizontally?
<Kotono> OOC: Link me.
> OOC: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/powers/levitatePsionic.htm
<Kotono> OOC: Yes ,but it would slow you down and result on a penalty to the ref saves. Let's go ahead and see if you reach him successfully first. Ref save.
<Veren > roll 1d20+16+5 Ref/Inspiration, 3 Inspiration left
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 34 > 12 [d20=13]
<Kotono> Veren leaps over, just in time to grab Macaron and pull him to safety! He's safe for the moment, leaping to a pillar going down. But Macaron's bleeding profusely!
<Kotono> roll 1d100 stabilization
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 50 > 12 [d100=50]
<Kotono> OOC: Act.
<Veren > OOC: Is heal trained only?
<Kotono> OOC: No.
<Veren > OOC: Am I safe enough to try and heal/stabilize him?
<Kotono> OOC: Yes, but it'll incur a large penalty to your ref save.
* Veren flexes his mental abilities and levitates Macaron, pushing and pulling him as he moves, deciding to try and get to safety before helping the dog.
<Kotono> OOC: Ref save, -3. G'luck.
<Veren > roll 1d20+16+5-3 Ref/Inspiration, 2 Inspiration left
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 29 > 12 [d20=11]
<Kotono> It's a struggle, but somehow Veren gets to the door and out of the crushers. Meanwhile...
<Kotono> roll 1d100
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 43 > 12 [d100=43]
<Kotono> Macaron continues to bleed terribly, surely at the very brink of death. OOC: Act.
* Veren turns and tries to apply what little he knows about healing to save Macaron!
<Veren > roll 1d20+4+3 Wis/Insp, 1 Insp. left
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 24 > 12 [d20=17]
<Kotono> Got it! It takes hard work, but Veren manages to stop the bleeding. Macaron's stable - for now.
* Veren wipes a bit of sweat off of his face and looks around the new area he's in.
<Kotono> There's merely a door ahead, and being closed, means that Veren can't see past it.
* Veren leaves Macaron to float where he is and approaches the door, inspecting it for traps and locks.
<Kotono> OOC: Perception it up.
<Veren > OOC: Inspiration refresh?
<Kotono> OOC: Not yet.
<Veren > roll 1d20+14+5 Perception/Insp, 0 Insp
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 28 > 12 [d20=9]
<Kotono> The door's not locked or trapped.
* Veren cracks the door open, peering through.
<Kotono> Ahead is a small room. The room is studded with needles, blades and pointy metal edges all over. It's almost impossible to walk or fly through - but in the center floats a book with a white cover.
* Veren opens the door fully, moving Macaron closer so he can keep an eye on him and then pulls out the Complete Guide to Humanoids and starts flipping through the pages, looking for something that might help him get through the room. OOC: I can shift into Small or Medium. Anything that can fly or stuff?
<Kotono> OOC: Sure, there's plenty of winged creatures. A winged elf if nothing else is standard.
<Kotono> OOC: If you can find something better, by all means.
<Veren > OOC: I think Winged Elf. I'm not seeing anything small that can fly that's also Humanoid.
<Kotono> OOC: Okay.
* Veren shifts into a Winged Elf hoping he's agile enough to make it in. And that the walls of the place don't collapse or otherwise snap shut on him.
<Kotono> OOC: Dex check.
<Veren > roll 1d20+5+5 Dex/Int Check, BoB
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 23 > 12 [d20=13]
<Kotono> Veren manages to get to the book safely. He's before him if he wants to grab it.
* Veren takes a moment to inspect the book and the area around it for traps before he grabs it!
<Kotono> OOC: Perception.
<Veren > roll 1d20+14 Perception
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 21 > 12 [d20=7]
<Kotono> The book is trapped. Grabbing the cover could be intensely lethal. Moreover, just touching it does it, so disarming it will be tricky.
* Veren readies his Hustle ability before he tries to disarm the trap. He might have to move in a hurry...
<Kotono> OOC: Disable device. G'luck.
<Veren > roll 1d20+20 Disable Device pleasepass
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 35 > 12 [d20=15]
<Kotono> Go...go...go...got it! Just barely, but the trap is disabled. The book can be opened safely.
* Veren retrieves the book and moves to return to Macaron's side before he opens it.
<Kotono> OOC: Int cheek.
<Veren > roll 1d20+5 Int
<Serith> Veren roll for Serith < 21 > 12 [d20=16]
<Kotono> Ugh! Veren's mind tears away from the madness. From the wrongness. But something is burned into his mind, painfully potent: Pepo is home at last.
* Veren gasps a bit and shakes his head. He looks at the book as if it were a viper, but decides to keep it. Lucy would find it interesting, he's sure, and as such, he puts it in his pack and moves to get himself and Macaron back through the pillar room and to the river.
<Kotono> As Veren goes back - reality shatters. Awareness plunges into oblivion as...OOC: More. Into #dunes.
