Surraruthru and friends are joined by a fourth - Jaela, fresh back from a trip to the Prime Material. They meet in Surraruthru's burgeoning hoard room, Kascha smiling to Jaela. "Do you need me to catch you up on what's going on?"

Very plain intro, if there needs to be IC expo, we can get that out of the way ASAP and move on.

"There's a vault with eight chests of treasure in it. We've gotten one, but the defenses are formidable. A closed loop door, orbs of acid, electricity, fire, cold, and sonic that shoot rays, and an undying hoardheart zombie. We'll need additional help with dispelling the magic in the orbs and holding off the zombie to get enough time to retrieve all eight chests."

Okay, quick notes.

- It took a powerful dispel to weaken the vault door long enough for follow up dispels to eliminate it. Scanning indicated physical force would be useless on it.
- Attempting to spellcraft or analyze the various orbs on the wall resulted in an attack that disrupted any attempt to study them. This was the 10-fold ray attack.
- Opening a chest caused the same ray attack.
- Getting a chest out resulted in beams fired out that attempted to drag you back into the vault, then the vault slammed shut and knock out gas was pumped in, followed by merciless barrages of beams at the knocked out Ebony. Fortunately, she was warded against every element but sonic and a silence spell stopped that.
- A silence spell on the room worked, but proved to also be a problem since it interfered with spellcasting. Didn't seem to slow the defenses down.
- On escaping a second time (Kascha managed to melt the vault door with a twinned greater fireburst) a hoardheart was released after the party.

"I can use Stoneskin with the tapestry as well. That'll save you spells. Same with Energy Absorption, Iron Bones, Shield, and Greater Magic Armor. I'll prepare Celestial Valor, Might of the Planetar, and Draconic Might. Many of those overlap a bit, but they're all usable with the tapestry and will give some level of benefit. I'll also memorize two castings of Energy Immunity and Life Font. Any other suggestions? I can use up to 7th level spells with the tapestry."

Basically anything that's tagged (harmless) or is an abjuration spell, even with range personal, I can pump into the tapesty.

"A combination of a nice, filling meal before we leave and Greater Heroism will make sure we won't be easily poisoned or run off. How's dimensional travel? Did you check if it works? I can pull it off plenty for all sorts of purposes, but more importantly that spell that alerts you to incoming teleportation and diverts it would be invaluable if the enemies are sent over rather than released from some cage." She snorts. "Other than that? Walls. Walls of Force are best, in fact. Death Ward is just something everyone should take where undead could be, and I'll cover that. Spell Immunity is pretty good if you can tell me the specific spells you think the traps used. Spell Turning is likewise good, if limited. Finally, Contingency to break the worst thing you can imagine happening to you. For me it was getting sick for the longest time."

Shield if you can make it. It's pretty nice, and useful vs Magic Missile. Can you chain 5 Resist Energy spells, one per element? Resist 30 is pretty nice.

We'll need to go for the Heroes's Feast for obvious reasons.

Surraruthru's varous water spells give water breathing. It's redundant unless you're aiming for redundancy.

Shield: CL 27, 27 minutes,  It negates magic missile attacks directed at you. The disk also provides a +4 shield bonus to AC. This bonus applies against incorporeal touch attacks, since it is a force effect. The shield has no armor check penalty or arcane spell failure chance. Unlike with a normal tower shield, you can't use the shield spell for cover.

Level 2:
Resist Energy x5:(Player's Handbook v.3.5, p. 272) CL 27, Duration 270 minutes, grants resistance 30 to energy type

Level 3:
Greater Magic Armor: (Spell Compendium, p. 136), CL 24, Duration 24 hours, This spell functions like mage armor (PH 249), except that it requires no material component and its tangible field of force provides a +6 armor bonus to Armor Class.

Level 4:
Ray Deflection: (Spell Compendium, p. 166), CL 27, Duration 27 minutes, For the duration of the spell, you are protected against ranged touch attacks, including ray spells and ray attacks made by creatures. Any ray attack directed at you is automatically reflected harmlessly away.
Stoneskin: (Player's Handbook v.3.5, p. 284), CL 27, Duration 270 Minutes, The subject gains damage reduction 10/adamantine. Once the spell has prevented a total of 10 points of damage per caster level (maximum 150 points), it is discharged.
Iron Bones: (Spell Compendium, p. 125), CL 24, Duration 240 minutes, The creature gains a +6 natural armor bonus to AC.

Level 5:
Draconic Might: (Draconomicon, p. 111), CL 24, Duration 24 minutes, The subject of the spell gains a +5 enhancement bonus to Strength, Constitution, and Charisma. It also gains a +4 enhancement bonus to natural armor. Finally, it has immunity to magic sleep and paralysis effects.
Transformation of the Deeps: (Stormwrack), CL 24, Duration 24 hours, The target of this spell gains the ability to breathe water and is rendered immune to damage from both the temperature and the pressure in extreme depths of water. Additionally, she gains darkvision out to 60 feet.

Level 6:
Greater Heroism: (Player's Handbook v.3.5, p. 240), CL 24, Duration 24 minutes, the creature gains a +4 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and skill checks, immunity to fear effects, and temporary hit points equal to your caster level (maximum 20).
Cloak of the Sea: CL 24, Duration 24 hours, While underwater, the subject functions as if affected by blur (PH 206), freedom of movement (PH 233), and water breathing (PH 300),and doesn't take nonlethal damage for the duration of the spell.

Level 7:
Spell Turning: (Player's Handbook v.3.5, p. 282), CL 27, Duration 270 minutes/expended, Spells and spell-like effects targeted on you are turned back upon the original caster. The abjuration turns only spells that have you as a target. Effect and area spells are not affected. Spell turning also fails to stop touch range spells. From seven to ten (1d4+6) spell levels are affected by the turning. The DM secretly rolls the exact number. When a spell is turned, the DM subtracts its level from the amount of spell turning left.
Energy Absorption: (Complete Mage, p. 103), CL 27, Duration 27 hours/expended, The subject gains resistance 10 against all five energy types: acid, cold, electricity, fire, and sonic. As an immediate action, the subject can cause the spell to absorb the power of a single energy-based attack. The subject gains immunity to any energy types used in that attack (but only for that attack), and also heals a number of points of damage equal to 1/2 the damage the effect would normally have caused.
Might of the Planetar: CL 24, Duration 24 rounds, You gain a +16 enhancement bonus to Strength, a +2 enhancement bonus to Dexterity, a +8 enhancement bonus to Constitution, and a +7 enhancement bonus to natural armor. You gain a slam attack that inflicts 2d8 + 1.5 times your Strength modifier. You gain the benefits of the blind-fight and power attack feats as well.

Level 10:
Celestial Valor: CL 27, Duration 27 minutes,  Each target of this spell gains a +8 sacred bonus to saving throws against fear and any emotion based effect that would sap the will to fight, such as calm emotions or crushing despair. In addition, celestial valor grants a +4 sacred bonus to attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, armor class and saving throws. Finally, any weapon they use counts as a holy weapon for the duration, granting 2d6 extra damage against evil targets. This does not stack if the weapon already has the holy special property.
Energy Immunity: CL 27, Duration 24 hours, This abjuration grants a creature complete protection against damage from whichever one of five energy types you select: acid, cold, electricity, fire, or sonic. The spell protects the recipient's equipment as well.

Since this is my first chance to post 'cause work, I'll agree with the round casting thing. I've got nothing to add otherwise.

Surraruthru takes a spot next to Ebony, flying next to her as they advance, waiting until they're close to the vault to begin casting more spells on the group.

Since I'll likely be at work and unable to post when Cor is ready to advance this, once we're in reasonable buffing time frame/distance, go ahead an have Surraruthru throw out the minute/round duration buffs.

Fortunately, apparently this gas isn't reactive, since it doesn't explode when Kascha goes nova. A melted wall reveals another path into the vault.

"Locked," Ebony says, Kascha confirming it a moment later. They begin to drag them, when suddenly the color of the gas changes to a sickly, thick green. Smells like absolute death, too. The futile energy rays also stop entirely.

"Stay with Surraruthru!" Jaela calls out, tapping her right heel against the ground. And then she appears next to them, swaying slightly, with a couple of the distant chests and the most powerful barrier in existence protecting all of them from every direction.

Round 0: Swift action to Time Stop via boots. Round 1, get my chest to Surraruthru. Round 2, get the distant rightmost chest over. Swift action at the end to place a Prismatic Sphere around us that extends 10ft in radius. I'm shaken for the rest of Round 0 as time resumes.

With the sphere and dragging, you get four of the chests in. Mere moments later, the sphere vibrates as a massive explosion rips through everything outside of it. Fire and smoke, turning everything around you into Simmer's idea of a honeymoon destination.

"That was close," Kascha gulps and watches. It goes on...and on...and on. Somehow it's still exploding. Huh.

Jaela steps through the barrier on the other side from the others, and immediately puts up a wall to her left running all the way towards the exit and anchoring itself on the wall to the left from the door. The part of the wall closest to her curves in front of Jaela to try and shield her, though should the explosions have concussive force she's likely to be blown back into her sphere and its protections, she reasons.

Swift action to put a Wall of Stone to cover our left flank and curve to the front. Used at half thickness, I have 50 sections of 5ft blocks to play with that should cover the 40ft from the exit to me and then curve in front of me. If nothing exploded me I'll use my standard action to put up a matching wall on the right to complete the semi-circle.

All of us are fire-immune. Two from Surraruthru, two from Kascha.

Jaela's able to keep her spell, the tunnel of rock appearing. It helps some, though the explosions within it are still an issue. It's tough to hold her ground but not impossible now.

Ebony and Kascha follow, each of them lugging their chest as well. Like this the party retreats in a hurry, running up explosive stairs mostly blind and finally emerging from it. You're sooty and reek of sulfur, but three chests are there and intact. The explosions don't seem to have damaged them at all.

Okay.

Thus the four return into the explosions, going as well as they can. But once you reach the bottom of the stairs, you find the walls and dome are gone. You can get close enough to see blasted rubble, which makes the way ahead even more difficult.

For the sake of moving on, I'm going to take the small liberty of the spell being cast.

Once the spell is cast, the party heads on down and into the depths. Once more you slowly go, single file as Jaela takes point with her blindsight. It's disoriented from all the movement and explosions, but it's far better than her eyes right now. You make slow, halting and careful progress over the broken stones, eventually making it back to the vault. You stumble to the chests, finding them seemingly intact despite all the explosions.

In response to the Magic Missile attack, Surraruthru readies his second casting of Shield. It's been holding for now, long enough to get to the chests, so if it fails, a second casting should last long enough to get back out with the chests. Newly confident, he continues to the chests and grabs the first one, waiting for Ebony to go for hers.

Readying it to be cast if the original spell fails, the target will be the Tapestry, so it'll hit everyone.

Everyone gets in position for their chest and starts to pull - you think, anyway. Hard to tell with conditions being what they are, protected from harm or not.. More missiles come and your shields shatter - only for another shield spell to replace it and stop the next barrage.

The Deeds should certainly be checked into; they're likely worth a fair bit or come with other benefits for us; so likely to Aurora for holdings or to be made into Embassies or outposts... The spear and coin... Anything that resists identification is almost certainly both valuable and powerful, so Jaela, you use spears, correct? Interest there? The rod will have to be assembled, likely by Afina. That leaves the rest... Even splits for everyone?"

I posit that the deeds, if they can be enforced, will likely cover Aurora's split. If not, then turning over the ingots and the rod to Aurora for use/distribution likely will.

I imagine most of it will be split between things like padding/clothing to wear under armor and cosmetic type stuff, which I expect the fey to want much of, and cloaks. While we have lots of craftsmen that deal in armor and weapons, for our more lightly armored citizens, like wizards, they can't make much of use of those items. Phase Spider Silk is both very light and very strong, there's quite a bit that can be done with it, from clothing to things like rope."

1. How much time are you sinking into this project?
2. What will your general craft (weaving) (or whatever skill, specify precisely what it is) check results be? Assume taking 10.

1. I honestly have no idea. I'd assume I'd spend as much time as needed on it, between adventuring and any kind of research I'd have to do. Surraruthru doesn't really have any hobbies or anything to spend free time on, so it'd be between this and the Hydras, a the moment.

2. It's Crafting: Weaving, and taking 10 would result in 43.

3. I have no idea what's fair in the D&D/Aurora economy. I'd be aiming to mostly just cover costs, like the rest of the crafters, on the more utilitarian items, but things that are purely cosmetic/entertainment maybe a 10-15% profit? I do need to pay the Phase Spiders, after all.

It takes some experimentation, but you get underclothes, padding, cloaks and the like. Most of it's figuring out how to properly weave the phase spider silk, which requires some practice even with your level of skill. Once you get that down, you rapidly make progress and soon enough have a small first batch.

Calleigh turns to Adrian, "We went looking around for someone who might have an idea of something we could do to make money that didn't involve kicking something over and taking someone's stuff and Drena sent us over to Tepen and Sylvie and we talked for a while and then Tepen and Sylvie started talking about building a big hive mind thing to connect everyone's brain to for the Library and Sylvie didn't really think I knew what was going on but I totally did because we found one of those once and it was REAL BAD like everyone connected to it had their brain mutate and because the people who put it together didn't put safeties in the personalities of everyone connected all bled into one and it was like forty people who were essentially the same violently psychopathic person we had to put them down which was sad but at the time we didn't know how to fix them and I learned a lot of brain stuff BUT! Then Tryll had an idea where we could use the Aurora as a trading hub or something because the demiplane is mutable and we could probably grow really rare plants and herbs and animals and stuff that can only be found on the elemental planes or in remote places and use that for trade to make stuff more available and use it to help people but Sylvie and Tepen said the Aurora is only good for fighting and I don't think that's really true although I got the impression that Sylvie doesn't like me but when we went to go talk to Baleruk about it he thought it was a really good idea but we should go to Brightwater instead and then he gave us ten thousand gold pieces to go start it up! Then I realized that we're gonna need stuff to put in our trading hub so we're asking everybody for stuff to sell! So here we are! Got some stuff?"

Calleigh turns back to Adrian, "Well, I can go slower. I suppose. For you, Adrian, since you're so pretty. So since we got Hamogan to join up, we now have a reliable way of obtaining items that will enhance our psionic abilities. And I need more wands. But we're broke! And we've gotten the feeling that most people here regard kicking in someone's door and or head and taking their stuff is a reliable source of income. That's not us, though. We've always profited by being in the shadows, and avoiding violence when possible. We're good at it, and explosions are pretty, but neither of us really like hurting people. Even if they're evil devil people. We will if we need to, but we don't like actively seeking it out. But we didn't know what to do! So we picked a person at random, who happened to be Drena. He's a nice guy. He told us that Sylvie and Tepen were conspiring about something, so we went to find them. They denied any conspiracy, but they are planning on creating some sort of hive mind with access to the Library. Dunno what that's about, but it's dangerous work. Anywho, Sylvie I think suggested some sort of slaad dungeon that Ithea's been involved with before. It sounds interesting, and we still might go, but Tryll had this idea to utilize the Aurora as a trading hub, since we have all of these idle people either just living or spending all the time whacking a training dummy with a sword until they pass out. He suggested a...merchant marine force. Sorta. Less marine, more heavily-armed merchants. They do interplanar trading when we're idle, and beat up bad guys when we're not. Sylvie and Tepen made it out to be a bad idea because we're an army and I don't think they can see the benefit of a steady source of income. We can though! Especially since so many people are out there right now 'treasure hunting' and risking their lives for money! They should be saving themselves up for big fights, not potentially dying to some mook that doesn't matter! Anyway, they didn't want to help and I think Sylvie thinks I'm dumb because she seemed pretty surprised when I knew what they were talking about with the hive mind thing. They told me to go show some of my art to Baleruk, but I'm pretty sure they just wanted us to go away. Which is fine. People do that. Not everyone likes us. We can...grate. We get it. But! We went to see Baleruk anyway and told him about Tryll's idea! He liked it so much that he gave us a ten thousand gold piece loan to get started in Brightwater! So now we're here, looking for goods to sell. There you go. Slower, with breathing and proper sentence structure. Sorta."
