Title: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 22, 2016, 02:02:13 PM
The two of you head to the infirmary. As you go, through the busy Entrance Hall, 'I hope the devils don't have a trap there or have refortified it.' You can see soldiers running about here and there, hurrying about and carrying supplies. As you go up a runner comes from the portals an races to you, "Ma'am," she reports, a lantern archon with a girl's voice, "General Gisfal wants to let you know that they're overseeing the strategic breakdown if you want to attend, or if you'd like a summary when it's done instead."

"I'll hear a summary afterwards," Jaela responds. "I'll do more good at the infirmary right now."

To Mirajane, she sends alongside a mental shrug, 'Maybe they somehow figured out where we were, but there's no way to tell. And we expected a real fight there from the start.'

'Yes, and we were found wanting.' Mirajane doesn't sound upset, 'But we survived a battle with everything against us. We know our limits better now and can take measures to overcome Lethe's advantages in the future.'

The two of you find a guard in front of the infirmary portal. "No entry by order of-oh, General Jaela," The hound archon steps aside, "My apologies, ma'am."

"Carry on," Jaela says, stepping past the guard with Mirajane. "I wouldn't be so pessimistic, Mira," she muses, continuing their conversation out loud now that they are in a secure location. "Our own mission was unopposed, and we made some progress on tracking down the origin of the river. And the battle we were summoned was probably a draw. Considering it wasn't actually our goal to take Lethe this time we'll call it a win once we crack this Styx memory theft issue. Nice to have versus must accomplish, as far as battle goals go. What I'm far more interested in right now is which of my pre-battle formation suggestions worked and which didn't, and the same for officer promotions."

Mirajane nods along as you head within. Here several dozen soldiers all lie or sit about. Most are awake, including Mirima. She looks at everything with wide eyed wonder, as if enraptured by it all.

It's far less than she feared, as far as numbers go. Smiling with confidence, Jaela strides over to Mirima.

"Hello?" Mirima offers as you come over to her. She speaks in Elven. "Do you know my name? I can't remember."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 22, 2016, 02:22:53 PM
"It's Mirima," Jaela responds, sitting down on an edge of the bed as her armor gives way to robes. "You were in a fight, but we won. Now it's just a matter of having you remember everything about yourself."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 22, 2016, 02:28:29 PM
"Mirima," She considers it, then goes, "No, that's a silly name. How about Xanderella? That's a nicer name."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 22, 2016, 02:31:11 PM
Jaela snorts. "Names starting with an X are evil, everybody knows that! Besides, we already have a Canderella and we absolutely can't have two people with the same-sounding name. Imagine the craziness!"

She takes a moment to study any magic around Mirima, deciding to put her own contribution to analyzing the problem.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 22, 2016, 02:37:46 PM
Nothing. The magic that wiped her mind is gone and hasn't even left fading magic to study.

"Canderella? That's a silly name, you sound like candy," Mirima huffs, "Everyone would call her that."

Meanwhile, Kascha along with several others enter, including Moore and your mother. "Oh, Jaela," Kascha says, "We're here to treat the first round of patients and see how tenacious this is. Is there anyone who needs priority recovery?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 22, 2016, 02:40:48 PM
"I do, in fact, call her Candy," Jaela allows with a snort, before waving Kascha over. "Mirima's a priority, and not just because we're dating. Gisfal thinks it would be bad for morale if an officer is shown as brought down by this crap. We reverse it for her, and everyone's got renewed faith we'll fix the troops as well."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 22, 2016, 02:47:29 PM
Kascha comes forward and shoots fire from her fingers, sketching out a magic circle around the two of them. "Queen of the 49th gate, I ask of you to crack your wings open just a little in my name, for I am known to the Heavens!" Her chant causes Mirima's head to shine with sunlight.

> roll 1d20+25 Kascha CL
<Rei-chan> Kotono rolled : 1d20+25 Kascha CL --> [ 1d20=19 ]{44}

Mirima suddenly smirks, "You do call her Candy. It makes me wonder sometimes," she says.

Post by: Corwin on August 22, 2016, 02:53:25 PM
"It's a perfectly valid nickname!" Jaela laughs. "Other people are just intimidated by her for a whole lot of reasons."

She pulls Kascha into a hug in earnest gratitude, before grinning at Mirima again. "Had a bit of bad luck out there on the field?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 22, 2016, 02:56:04 PM
Kascha returns it and then breaks away, "Alright, everyone spread out and work on a person. Succeed or fail, stop at one for now. We'll space this out so we don't waste spells."

"Yes. The last thing I remember is a wave coming out of nowhere. That and jets of water that forces us back. We barely got a glimpse at the place and the defenses were overwhelming."

Moore, describe what you're trying.

For his part, Moore will call on the power he received from his trip through the Deep Ethereal to see if it has any kind of impact.

He's using his Modify Memory 1/day to see if it will let someone recall with perfect clarity a memory and see if that just cascades and recovers the rest of them in turn.

You can and....it's like manipulating an empty clay slab. Everything's smooth and blank, there's nothing but emptiness to magnify. Blast.

Going to try anything else?

"I'm gonna head out and try to do something about the waves of shitty Styx water," Jaela fills her in. "How about your plans for the immediate future? Gonna catch some rest over here? Party back at the tower?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)

I don't really have much else to try other than to try motivating people's memories into coming back or something crazy.

Aw, heck, then let's try! I'm not really sure how to go about it but I suppose it could start with Motivational Speaking.

"Ellese and Sylvie are as immune to that shit as it gets, and will help with closing any portals for the Styx. Finnegan, because it's been a while since we worked together. And Mira, here, to round us out. Same as before, unless you're vying for a spot?"

Make a perform (oratory) or whatever skill you use to represent motivating people, Moore.

"Of course I am," Mirima says, "You know I am."

No good. Moore just doesn't get it to happen.

Informally, that might be a specialized epic skill usage, somewhere around DC 70 to 80. You'd have to develop it and yeah, I need to finish that epic skills thing already. One day.

It's certainly worth looking into if magic doesn't help!

He's not quite so willing to give up just yet, but since magic seems to solve the issue, he'll leave it at that for now.

It generally seems to be a partial success - Hanna and the Jarl succeed, Priest and Balyss come up short. "It's resistant," Priest reports, "Proper preparation will help."

"I was afraid of that, Lixer's augmented the Styx here." Kascha says, "Rest for an hour, I'll see to that. Elena," she asks, an armor clad ghost girl appearing, "Get a few guards in here to watch over them. Hound archons or higher archons, they're good at that sort of thing."

"If you'd like, I can try and see if Celestia has any guidance on what we can do to protect ourselves from it going forward." Moore offers.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 22, 2016, 03:21:52 PM
"Okay," Jaela decides, after taking a few moments to think it over. "Mirajane, slight change of plans. We'll go in teams. Ellese and Sylvie are considered as immune as we can get someone out there, and I'm in charge of the strike. But we'll reduce the team to four and rotate you, Finnegan and Mirima as the fourth member."

Jaela offers a hand to Mirima. "Let's go collect the others and port out?"

"Worth trying," Kascha agrees to Moore.

Meanwhile Mirajane just nods to you.

Elaborate on your team plans, Jaela?

I'll lead my 4-person team of myself, Ellese, Sylvie and Mirima over to the last point of our journey up the river that we've reached before and keep going (mind blank, heroes's feast in effect and all that). If we start feeling any effects or the day has passed, we'll return to the Aurora for rest. Barring new combat needs, we'll return after a suitable rest with the fourth team member rotated from the group of Mirima, Finnegan, Mirajane. We'll be linked telepathically, and towards the Aurora.

Quick note, please check out each NPC's resources since they've used some in off screen antics.

The four of you gather in front of Aurora's gates. "Do we have sufficient magic to escape again if we need to?" Sylvie asks, first of all.

Same alertness as before-- Mirima, that means we acknowledge the environment is eroding our protective magic and our attention, and constantly interact so the others can catch us if we slip. Everyone falls into a fighting formation. They approach 60ft ahead, hidden in mists. Slumped, shambling figures, hidden in loose robes you can only just make out. You can see at least two of them and perhaps more following.

They whisper constantly, though you can't make out the words. It carries right into your ears but not to the point of perception, a low level buzz. If you could just hear a little more...!

Init here.

These creatures are amnizu, devils who wander the Styx and fulfill profane rites related to it. They are fairly powerful devils, roughly equivalent to a cornugon in power, but highly specialized and obscure. Finding them here at least fits their normal MO.

"Holding back or finishing them from afar?" Mirima quickly asks.

She's up, just getting a quick answer out of Jaela.

Cor, what's the CL of Celestial Valor?

Mirima darts ahead into the fog, blade seeking the nearest amnizu, passing through it like a blur of red and gold.

> roll 1d20+56 (+2 charge, +4 celestial valor, +2 arcane strike)
<Artemis> Kotono roll for Artemis < 62 > [d20=6]
> roll 1d10+40+4d6+2d6+2d4
<Artemis> Kotono roll for Artemis < 80 > [d10=9][d6=3,6,3,5,3,3][d4=4,4]

Also popping mirror image, has enough levels to be max images.

Woven Gold slashes out, the devil's head falling from his shoulders. It dissolves into a splash of black water, all over Mirima.

> roll 1d20+40 evasion Mirima
<Artemis> Kotono roll for Artemis < 46 > [d20=6]

Mirima dodges, rolling to the side in the air as a wave of black acid comes out from them. It hits Mirima first and then surges forward, enveloping all the party.

You're within range to possibly counter it if you want, Jaela.

With a quick counter, Jaela's magic causes the wave of acid to curl into itself and vanish. Got it!

The spell crumbles as you charge in, Jaela making the symbol of the eye and countering the spell. As it stops she plunge sin, impaling another wounded amnizu and causing it to collapse into black water that splashes all over her.

Reflex save.

Jaela nimbly dodges the burst of water, avoiding the black muck. As it splashes around her and falls, Ellese advances 30ft and chants strange, twisting words. A green fireball flies out, exploding amid the amnizu ranks.

Init is Sylvie (39) > Mirima (27) > Styx Wanderers (26) > Jaela (14) > Ellese

Ellese is using a energy substitution (acid) + energy admixture (acid) delayed blast fireball. She's dropping a smiting spell to add an extra 20 damage.

> roll 40d6+20
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 163 > [d6=4,4,2,6,1,1,6,3,4,1,2,5,2,2,3,3,1,1,2,3,5,4,5,6,2,5,5,3,6,6,6,5,2,3,1,5,6,3,5,4]
> roll 1d20+23 vs DC 26
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 27 > [d20=4]

The burst of acid catches them all - from here Jaela can see there are 4 more. They are blasted by acid and cry out as they melt down before your eyes, dissolving into bursts of Styx-water.

Free-act. That battle was way under y'all's normal CR range.

You wander another 15 minutes or so, following the river. You begin to see something ahead in the fog, a deep, dark shadow. A building, perhaps. Too hard to tell from here, it's barely an impression against the ever present mist.

Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)

"Let's see what that is," Jaela decides, heading that way.

Post by: Anastasia on August 25, 2016, 03:09:25 PM
"Careful, it has to be something of Lixer's," Mirima says, "Which means things are about to get interesting." She grins as you approach. It's not a building after all, now 40ft away. It's a black obelisk, rising up about 90ft before ending in a jagged spike. Maimed bodies hang from it like ornaments, dozens of rotting bodies kneeling before it. You can see there's engravings on the obelisk, strange runes that look to be Infernal.

Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 25, 2016, 03:25:49 PM
"None whatsoever," As the two of you speak, the zombies begin to rise. Horrid things, blackened and dripping with the waters of the Styx. But before they can act, slow and shambling things, Sylvie utters three profound words, the book of 21 in her hand.

> roll 21d12+21
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 149 > [d12=9,11,4,8,3,5,6,9,9,1,6,4,10,5,5,1,6,8,5,10,3]
> roll 1d20+11
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 12 > [d20=1]

The zombies are simply annihilated, the obelisk dissolved save for the last 20ft of it, which crash to the ground. There is only the silence of the deep ethereal after.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 25, 2016, 03:29:15 PM
"Is it tiring you to use it consecutively like this?" Jaela asks, heading onwards once more.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 25, 2016, 03:33:39 PM
"No." Sylvie says, "But something's wrong about this." She stops, "Lixer has enough defenses to stop Aurora cold against Lethe, but here the resistance is more token, like it's keeping away the natives rather than a serious assault. It doesn't make sense."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 25, 2016, 03:39:10 PM
Maybe it was a mistake to leave the assault to Gisfal, Jaela muses privately. Then again, Styx water is the sort of trump card that beats just about anything.

"It's possible he simply doesn't know we're here, he's not omniscient. It's possible he doesn't want to draw attention to how important this is, so the serious defenses would only be at the very end. It's possible he's working some stupid plan to use as a trap. It's even possible that just about anyone but you and Ellese would slowly be defeated by the Styx fog and that was considered enough, or was counter-productive to stationing powerful troops here. What's important is that unless we have a good, solid reason to stop we'll keep on going."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 25, 2016, 03:42:36 PM
Mirima murmurs agreement, while Sylvie taps her foot - on thin air, so it's silent. "It's possible, any of them are, but maybe this is just a shell game or stalling. Let the Styx triumph without him having to lift a finger."

"The water's hungry," Ellese adds, very quietly. "Did you notice?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 25, 2016, 03:44:25 PM
"I did say as much. But see, there's one thing Lixer doesn't want you to think about. He's at a disadvantage, unless he found a way to shift portals conveying the fucking Styx at will. So he must defend a stationary target at all times, and we only have to be lucky once after tracking it down."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 25, 2016, 03:46:14 PM

Jaela reaches out to touch Mirima's shoulder.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 25, 2016, 03:50:40 PM
Mirima blinks and looks up, gaze foggy and far away. "Huh. Oh, Jaela. Did something happen, I think I lost track of...what was I saying?"

"The water's getting to her," Sylvie says, "Might be faster on her since she was just exposed, or maybe she's naturally vulnerable to it, or you're more resistant."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 25, 2016, 03:53:17 PM
"Yeah, yeah, I'm too awesome for this shitty water," Jaela says with a grin. "We're heading back. First sign of a daze from anyone, no complaints."

She lets everyone hold on, and then plane shifts the four of them back to the Aurora. Mirima to get checked up at the infirmary once more, just to be on the safe side, and to pick up Finnegan for the next shift. It shouldn't even take that long!

Finnegan nods and falls into position as you reappear. You appear before the same river in the same fog as before, the obelisk's ruins before you. "However long this goes, we'll find the end, if there's an end to find," Sylvie vows.

"Sooner than later. The air's sick," Finnegan takes a deep sniff of the air, "Poison in every breath."

"I'm fine with sooner," Jaela agrees. "Let's change things up and go with a square. Sylvie, you're in the front and Ellese behind you. The two of you will be closer to the river, and we'll see if a bit of distance lets Finnegan and me stay here longer."

Agreement and the party falls into formation. You walk a short time more, no more than ten minutes. As you do, Finnegan stops, holding a hand up.

Alrighty then.

The party rushes ahead, soon seeing something ahead. An altar has been erected at the bank of the river, and on it and around it are great piles of flesh. Four of the crocodile amnizu you saw before are there, offering up obscene prayers that make your skin crawl. Your advance is not subtle and they're reacting as you rush them, the creatures turning and...

Init.

Init is Sylvie (34) > Finnegan (25) > Jaela (19) > Ellese (14) > Devils (12)

Before they can react, Sylvie withdraws 21 and sends another beam of power to wipe out devils completely. It's like a pulse of light in the fog, illuminating everything for a split second.

<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 27 > [d20=7]

Nothing is left. This group is consumed utterly in 21's light, altar and devils obliterated. Sylvie cracks her knuckles, "Truth is they were hardly a threat. At least Hell won't get them back."

"Truth is," Ellese cuts in, "They're stalling now, aren't they? Just like the attack on Aurora, they're playing for time and to let the Styx do the heavy lifting."

You go on for another 5 minutes, maybe 10. Then you see them ahead, shambling along the banks. Skeletons and zombies, slowly shuffling along. They're all wet with Styx-water and clinging right to the bank of the river.

Jaela's burst of power shatters the skeletons and fries the zombies. Your assault bleaches the bones of the undead white and causes them to burst aflame. They scatter before you, utterly broken by your power.

DC on the Spellcraft was 90, Sylvie made it on the number. You'll see why the DC was so high in just a moment.

There's just the ambient mana of the Styx. Nothing unusual, but Sylvie's focus is still on it. "It's a misdirection. Brilliant," she breathes, "I've never seen a lie and the Weave manipulated just so before. Not even close. This is on Medi's level. I'm not sure Lixer could even do this, it might be the Lord of the Ninth's work. It's infinity. A loop. The Styx is endless and that principal has been applied, manipulated. A closed chain without beginning or end, disguised so that no one will ever notice. There's no serious guardians because there's no reason for them, this is as close to a perfect defense as I've ever seen."

Slowly Sylvie speaks, her voice shaking occasionally, "It's disturbingly complex and perfect. No way any mortal did this. It really might be his work. It's gorgeous, enslaving, stunning, chained. I doubt anti magic will work since this is probably his work and he'd be beyond that. The final defense is a lie, to make you believe a lie that nothing's here. One that erodes through with every droplet of Styx water you breathe in or splashes on your skin. Heh, but you can't lie to yourself with 21, a perfect counter."

Sylvie's voice is sounding farther and farther away, dream-like. "We're going around and around, and it wants you to believe there's no way out. No way to break it. No escape from the cold chains. You have to transverse infinity to reach the beginning or end of this. A distance that goes on and on and on forever, that you could walk until the end of Creation and come no closer to the source. I think that if I look any closer, my mind won't be able to handle it. Infinity, it's not something we can manage."

Finally Sylvie stops, holding her face in her hands and taking deep breaths. When they clear, "Oghma," she says, voice pleading. "This mission's doomed without a way to break that loop. If we do, I'm not sure we can stop whatever guardians await at the source. I don't think this is Lixer's venture, not entirely. It's Asmodeus's. It's why we absolutely have to stop it, yet I fear we don't have the means to do so. We weren't able to stop Taelfagn when he was serious and we walked into his trap, I have no illusions about being able to stop Asmodeus's."

"Let's test ourselves against this brand of bullshit," Jaela finally says, after taking that all in. "21 and my strongest dispel, or a disjunction, whichever you think might fare better. If we break Lixer's shit we don't actually have to stick around for the guardians. He's got plenty of enemies who could pick up the slack, and it'd certainly be a good distraction for his forces. We do this, and then immediately retreat. Break past any obstructions with 21, and I plane shift us out. Can you think of any way to improve on the plan?"

You fire your disjunction, aiming to smash the magic of this place. At the same time, Sylvie draws 21 forth and fires it-

Make immediate Fortitude saves, all.

The river is swirling. Twisting. Twisting in more than three dimensions. Your head screams at you as a full migraine explodes within. You can barely see, vision becoming terrifically distorted. Every heartbeat is agony as your head throbs. Reality is taking a vacation ahead of you. Twisting in ways, twisting endlessly. You  manage to tear your gaze away as warm blood runs out from your eyes, ears and nose. Sylvie and Finnegan are in similar states, managing to look away. Ellese stares ahead, screaming tonelessly as she stands there, rigid.

You're trying to see something well beyond your normal comprehension - infinity or something like that. Your minds simply aren't equipped to deal with that.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)

Did I succeed? Is it temporary? Can I plane shift from this?
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 03:48:39 PM
You honestly aren't sure, you aren't sure and maybe you think.

There's just too many unknown factors. 21 and the works of Asmodeus are beyond even your extensive knowledge of magical lore.

"Sylvie, shoot it again!" Jaela calls out. "I'm getting us all out!"

Waiting on Sylvie's init to either fire or fail to do so, and then I'm plane shifting us away into Astral.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 28, 2016, 04:00:10 PM
A thought, however, directs a wall of stone in the path of the river. One of the rivers, at least, that Jaela remembers seeing earlier, angled so that it would break up the flow and direct it away from the four of them.

Wall of Stone as swift.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 04:03:56 PM
Sylvie fires again and reality starts to twist and roil endlessly on itself and then - Finnegan grabs Sylvie and Ellese, pulling them back and to you and relief. The Astral is calm, timeless. Your headache still throbs, but some perverse infinity isn't there to aggravate it any further.

But as you went, you saw one thing. Your wall of stone appeared, damming the twisted river. You saw the waters hitting it, perhaps blocked? You don't see long enough to know, other than you managed to put it in the right place and at least momentarily stop the waters.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 28, 2016, 04:10:54 PM
Jaela immediately uses a Heal on Ellese, along with Resurgence. "So what do you think?" she asks Sylvie with a bloody grin. "Not a good place to visit in the near future, or we broke it badly enough for a second assault?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 04:13:01 PM
"Heh," Sylvie grins as Ellese recovers, "Hell if I know right now." She holds her head and groans after, holding a holy symbol. "What do you get when you have a perfect loop and introduce something outside of it? I'm not sure, but it'll be a mess. Ask me when the headache's gone and I have a chance to check the books."

She's using her own heal spell on herself. No need for another save since heal clears it up for Ellese.

"If that's not enough for a fucking distraction to drain Lixer's troops away, I don't know what is. We're heading back home."

Planeshifting us towards the Aurora, with orders for everyone to get checked out. Also, I'll release Stone Body once we arrive.
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 04:19:35 PM
Soon enough, you're in your underwear and Hanna's giving you a check over. "It's nothing some magic and time won't fix," she finally declares, the two of you in a curtained off corner of the infirmary. The others are in their own check ups right now. "I never thought I'd see the Styx be worse than it is normally, but Hell is full of surprises."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 28, 2016, 04:21:46 PM
Jaela laughs. "Ain't that the truth. But enough about me, how are the others? Mirima, Ellese, Sylvie, Finnegan and Mirajane? The troops?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 04:23:33 PM
"Mirima's on bed rest until tomorrow, just in case. The others should be fine if you're any sign," Hanna concludes crisply, "Mirajane's welll. The troops are doing well enough. Morale's shaken a bit but nothing serious, Gisfal's working on that."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 28, 2016, 04:34:59 PM
Jaela resummons her favorite armor. "That's meaningless until Afina returns. Then we'll see how morale goes." She tilts her head. "If we get a chance at a few quiet days after, how about you introduce me to your other kid?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)

Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)

"I meant getting a few quiet days," Hanna says, smiling. She reaches out and clasps your shoulder, "But if you want to backtalk, I can tell embarrassing stories."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 28, 2016, 04:54:11 PM
Jaela smirks. "Yeah, tell me one about him!"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 04:57:30 PM
"Why not?" Hanna smiles, "One time when he was first adventuring, he found a cursed ring. Put it on without realizing it and fell right for it. It made him appear naked, no matter what. He was stuck wearing that a month until he got back home. He ran into where I was and said I had to help him...where I was entertaining guests, of course."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 28, 2016, 05:00:14 PM
"How horrifying," Jaela says with a grin. "Who does that? Any of it?" She shakes her head in amusement. "So is he still touchy about this, or can I get him a ring that looks just like it?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 05:02:00 PM
"Wizards with too much time on their hands," Hanna laughs, "Better him than a female adventurer, at least. The ring was plain gold, two twisted bands woven together and linked with tiny chains, almost too small for the eye to see."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 28, 2016, 05:05:08 PM
"I'll bug Sylvie to make it." Jaela shrugs. "Maybe it can even repeat the magic, for one activation? Speaking of, what if it briefly turned him into a girl, at that?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 05:09:49 PM
"Jaela," Hanna says evenly, "What if when you met your brother, you suddenly found yourself naked in front of him? Let alone if it turned you into a man."
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Corwin on August 28, 2016, 05:12:53 PM
"Why would I care, it's not my body." Jaela coughs. "Too much? No worries, I won't humiliate family just for the heck of it. And speaking of, maybe you could use a Sending or something so we don't end up just dropping in on him?"
Title: Re: A second tryp to the Styx (Jaela)
Post by: Anastasia on August 28, 2016, 05:13:34 PM
"Too much. We aren't succubi, we don't greet family by flashing each other," Hanna says firmly. "I'll take care of those details."
