The three components of Siege force, broken down to allow for three independent commands to drive deep into the heart of the enemy. Aurora's main assault force.

Pacifying Force: Elons Rapid
Spoiler: ShowHide

Tannin, Rosa
100 elven warriors
Aurora's fleet of ships

The force in charge of keeping Elons Rapid pacified and to discourage any devil resurgence in the area. Roughly at a ratio of a solder per fifty residents, before the ships come into the equation.

Strategy

Aurora's fleet of ships is to be left behind to support the pacifying force and serve as a force multiplier for them stationed above Elons Rapid. Meanwhile, a gate will be opened into the Astral, and from it several more that lead towards positions surrounding Liber. The Blockading Force will be dispatched through all land-locked approaches to the naval base, while Baleruk will depart through the gate coming from the sea side. Aurora will follow suit a minute later, traveling through the two gates to emerge behind Baleruk if a breach had been organized in the defenses. In the unlikely event Baleruk was unsuccessful, the Aurora will seek to use the gate on the opposite side of the city and make use of the focus of the defenders upon Baleruk's assault.

Siege forces 1 through 3 will be deployed from Aurora into a single, massive assault into the base. Once perimeter had been breached, each force will move under the guidance of its leader (Adrian, Mirima, Cresiel). Primary objective is securing the base and defeating all devil opposition in the area. Secondary objective is managing this with such overwhelming force that devil resistance in the region falters, and collaborators are driven to surrender. The Rapid Response Force will be dispatched when called upon by any of the Siege commanders to clear out a blockage, and deploy to crush localized devil resistance in strength.

'Victory!'

It begins with that. Baleruk goes through the gates and then roars in your mind as you wait. The message hits both Moore and Jaela, his triumphant roar enough to make your head pound from the sheer noise of it, even through telepathy.

'Come, the devils are ours to CRUSH!'

Jaela grins, thrusting Gae Bolg high in the air from where she's flying above the battlefield and observing. "Victory!" her voice rings out across Benfal!

Casting Greater Heroism on myself, and having Mirajane cast one upon herself. Her Stone Body spell has expired by now.

Create Magic Tattoo, CL 26, Duration 24 hours
+1 Luck Bonus on Attack Rolls

Create Magic Tattoo, CL 26, Duration 24 hours
+2 Competence bonus on Attack Rolls

Energy Absorption, CL 26, Duration 26 hours/expended

[spoiler]Subject gains Resistance 10 against all five energy types: Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire, and Sonic.
As an immediate action, the subject can cause the spell to absorb the power of a single energy-based attack. The subject gains immunity to any energy types used in that attack (but only for that attack), and also heals a number of points of damage equal to 1/2 the damage the effect would normally have caused. For instance, if a red dragon breathes fire on the subject for 87 points of damage, he could decide as an immediate action to absorb the effect, thus healing 43 points of damage instead of taking any damage. Hit points in excess of the subject's normal maximum are lost. Taking advantage of this function ends the duration of the spell.

Elemental Body, CL 26, Duration 26 hours

Spoiler: ShowHide
You can transform your body into a particular type of elemental substance. You and your possessions appear to be made of that element, though in the same general shape and size as your normal appearance.
ou have the benefits of the attune form spell (page 17) with respect to the appropriate element. If you choose a water body, for example, you can breathe normally on water dominant planes. You are immune to poison, sleep, paralysis, and stunning, and are not subject to extra damage from critical hits or flanking. You gain darkvision out to 60 feet. Your creature type remains unchanged, so you are unaffected by spells that target elementals, but you gain the air, earth, fire, or water subtype depending on the elemental substance you chose.
Air: Fly at your normal speed (perfect maneuverability), air mastery (airborne creatures take a —1 penalty on attack rolls and damage rolls against you).
Earth: Earth mastery (you gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls if both you and your foe touch the ground), push (you can start a bull rush maneuver without provoking attacks of opportunity), +3 natural armor bonus to AC.
Fire: Fire immunity, burn (those you hit in melee and those who attack you with natural weapons must make a Reflex save or catch fire, with a save DC equal to that of a fire elemental of the same size).
Water: Water: Swim at your normal speed, water mastery (you gain a +1 bonus on attack rolls and damage rolls if both you and your opponent touch water), drench (you can use your elemental form to put out nonmagical open flames and dispel magical fire you touch as if casting dispel magic at your caster level).
The elemental body spell has the descriptor of the element you choose. So, if you choose a body of fire, elemental body is a fire spell.

Surraruthru's Stupendous Dragonskin, CL 26, Duration 26 hours
Grants you a +10 armor bonus to armor class and damage reduction 10/magic.

Agility of the Dragon Princess, CL 26, Duration 26 hours
The target of this spell gains a +4 insight bonus to Dexterity.

Strength of the Dragon Princess, CL 26, Duration 26 hours
The target of this spell gains a +4 insight bonus to Strength.

Mind of the Dragon Princess, CL 26, Duration 26 hours
The target of this spell gains a +4 insight bonus to Intelligence.

Mind Blank, CL 26, Duration 24 hours

Spoiler: ShowHide
The subject is protected from all devices and spells that detect, influence, or read emotions or thoughts. This spell protects against all mind-affecting spells and effects as well as information gathering by divination spells or effects. Mind blank even foils limited wish, miracle, and wish spells when they are used in such a way as to affect the subject's mind or to gain information about it. In the case of scrying that scans an area the creature is in, such as arcane eye, the spell works but the creature simply isn't detected. Scrying attempts that are targeted specifically at the subject do not work at all.
Stoneskin, CL 26, Duration 260 minutes
Subject gains DR 10/adamantine up to 150 points.

Spell Turning, CL 26, Duration 260 Minutes

Spoiler: ShowHide
Spells and spell-like effects targeted on you are turned back upon the original caster. The abjuration turns only spells that have you as a target. Effect and area spells are not affected. Spell turning also fails to stop touch range spells.
From seven to ten (1d4+6) spell levels are affected by the turning. The exact number is rolled secretly.
When you are targeted by a spell of higher level than the amount of spell turning you have left, that spell is partially turned. The subtract the amount of spell turning left from the spell level of the incoming spell, then divide the result by the spell level of the incoming spell to see what fraction of the effect gets through. For damaging spells, you and the caster each take a fraction of the damage. For nondamaging spells, each of you has a proportional chance to be affected.
If you and a spellcasting attacker are both warded by spell turning effects in operation, a resonating field is created.

I mostly held y'all today since Neph was work grabbed and sewers ran red hot, but I'll toss this in now so it isn't forgotten in the shuffle.

As you prepare, you get a message from Tepen, 'A message from Afina,' He sends to both Jaela and Moore. 'I repeat verbatim: Tepen, Afina. In Water. Sewer Fortress is bomb, power fed from city directly above. Dispatch troops to stop. No teleporting. Interdicted to Taelfagn. Fled. Safe.'

Durrr my bad on Sylvie. Just nix the ones involving her for now.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 10, 2017, 04:04:18 AM
'Tepen, are you in contact with the other officers in the area?' Jaela responds, keeping Mirajane and Moore in the loop as well. 'Have Rosa and Tannin report from the airborn ships, and Bubbles, Surraruthru, Tryll and Calleigh from the underground. If teleportation is blocked and I'll need to fly over, we should get all the facts straight first.'
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Nephrite on February 10, 2017, 11:18:21 AM
"So he is playing his cards here..." Moore muses as he slips his mask on to be safe. "Is he someone we want to face under our own power? I do not know how much our allies would need to be involved at this hour."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 10, 2017, 12:01:12 PM
'Yes, a routine check in. Either that message is in error or Taelfagn is spoofing our telepathy. A moment while I query them again.' Tepen says.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 10, 2017, 12:33:56 PM
"Few have even a shot at stopping this guy, and those on allied planes who could won't leave their domains that easily," Jaela tells Moore. "We're it."

To Tepen, she sends, 'What about Sylvie's status?'
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 10, 2017, 12:47:42 PM
'She's working on it, but still not any time soon,' Tepen sends, 'Do you wish to recall her?'
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Nephrite on February 10, 2017, 12:53:28 PM
Moore nods. "If he's using all his effort to face us then it gives our allies no need to fuss."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 10, 2017, 12:56:36 PM
'Let's recall her,' Jaela agrees with a heavy heart. 'Have her return to the Aurora. If Afina's been forced off the battlefield by Taelfagn, I want her here.'

She gives Moore a strange look, but resolves to simply nod curtly.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 10, 2017, 01:09:50 PM

Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Nephrite on February 10, 2017, 01:10:23 PM
"Oh, it's... uh, the mask." Moore gestures, as if that explains everything.

'Oh, wonderful. I'm glad they're okay.' Moore sends.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 10, 2017, 01:25:04 PM
'Yes, the situation seems to be in hand now,' Tepen says, 'Are you going on to Liber now?'
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 10, 2017, 01:25:11 PM
'Ask them details about the bomb and Afina,' Jaela directs Tepen. 'Since it's a proper communication, see if it fits their usual mental communication patterns. Faking those would be far more difficult to devils who never heard them, and they differ enough from speech that you'll be able to vet them.'

She studies the course of the battle after Baleruk's forceful opening. With a bit of luck, it won't take long to seize the base.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 10, 2017, 01:31:19 PM
He's doing fine. The riverside town is in chaos as Baleruk wages war on it, flying devils rising up and being obliterated. Aurora's forces are pouring in through the gates in the meantime.

'Doing so, but early results are positive,' Tepen sends.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 10, 2017, 01:37:53 PM
Jaela nods to herself. "We'll hold here until Sylvie rejoins us," she says, keeping Tepen in the loop as well. "Arrange a Sending to Afina that relays, 'Afina, Jaela. Surraruthru and Tryll report success. Don't believe Taelfagn at Elons Rapid. Waiting for him. Overseeing assault on Liber. Is pickup required? Where from?'"

She frowns a bit, then, adding, "You're receiving from Dana and Bubbles as well? And Rosa and Tannin? What do they say about the communications blackout? Are the forces left behind and the civilians alright?"
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)

'Have them reinforce the Rapid Response Force,' Jaela responds to Tepen, speaking out loud to Sylvie after, "Afina ran into the Duke of Destiny but was able to disengage. Elons Rapid had some devil fortress below it rigged to blow, but Tryll and Surraruthru stopped it. The city remains firmly ours, while I decided to take this naval base and break the spirit of the remaining collaborators. Taelfagn apparently spoofs both telepathy and dimensional travel at will, thus I regretfully recalled you for when he resurfaces."

She points out the pit fiend they're approaching, adding, "Now, how about introducing ourselves properly with 21?"

You impale the pit fiend.

A simple sentence to describe a monumental event.

You thrust your spear through its skull down to its groina nd beyond, the creature exploding into goldenfire. It is utterly vanquished, slaughtered as the collaborators throw down their arms and surrender at sight of you. Your own troops surge in now, advancing further towards the ships now tha tthe barrier's gone.

"With General Jaela, we're invincible," a few call, as Mirajane flies down next to you.

"That was inspired, mother."

I'll take a moment to cast Shield of Warding and Crown of Flames on myself, while Mirajane casts Mass Death Ward on the four of us.

Then I'll cast Good Hope CL28 on all of us. We should arrive to our destination by then!

"Sylvie, Mirajane, pick a ship each," Jaela commands. "Pick out the command vessels. Moore, do your thing. We'll sink this fleet!"

Then, she shoots down at the largest and most imposing of the ships!

6 nonlethal damage to Moore.

+14 morale bonus to attack and weapon damage rolls and the same bonus against charm and fear saves to everyone. This lasts for 10 rounds after they stop hearing Moore --  YMMV on how long that actually is since they're all splitting up.

I think by the time everyone's in position they'll be out of range of his aura and his other bonuses. He'll go with Jaela either way, so she'll keep the aura bonuses -- so she gets an extra +3 to attack rolls. +2 is untyped and +1 is circumstance.

Sylvie's ship is on fire, devils and collaborators diving into the water as it sinks. Mirajane's is in much the same state and its spreading, the ship knocked into others as flames spread. Meanwhile Moore catches up to Jaela safely.

'Easy enough. They're not focusing on the ships that much,' Sylvie says, 'I think they realize this isn't a war won or lost over a river.'
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 13, 2017, 03:29:14 PM
'The more absolute our victory here, the easier it would be for the troops on all subsequent fronts,' Jaela reasons, before sending to Tepen, 'I could do with an update. Are things clear at Elons Rapid? Any trouble spots with the assault on Liber I didn't get reported from the Siege leaders?'

Any ship that doesn't show signs of immediate surrender gets treated to bombardment by goldenfire-enhanced Flame Strike. Jaela had called upon the fiends and their minions to surrender twice already, and there wouldn't be a third time.

'Things are going well, with the sole exception of Elons Rapids sewers. There are tentative reports of a possible dragon there,' Tepen replies. 'More details as they develop.'

The one good thing is that between the three of you, you're setting ships ablaze. The enemy seems content to retreat or fall back here, most of the ships unmanned by the time you reach them, devils melting into the city along with their collaborators. By the time you're done Sylvie catches up to you, frowning all the while, "They're just giving up the ships entirely?"

"If you can't hold the world, you won't need the ships. I just didn't want their weapons or maneuverability used against our own," Jaela responds.

Of Tepen, she asks, 'How long would it take to travel to our third objective from here?'

"Well, the ships themselves aren't going to help them win this." Moore reasons. "So it probably makes more sense for them to defend something strategically important, that they might otherwise miss."

Before Tepen can reply?

All of reality flashes white. There is a violent shaking, everything trembling. A howl comes from afar, like a vast creature crying out.  The world around you is having a seizure. The skies split open as the unnatural noon intensifies even further.

Together, twelve female voices cry out as one, "Children of Benfal, the day of of salvation is here! Fight!" It echos from all around you, coming from everywhere.

"Uhh... that's... good, right?" Moore asks.

As you speak, the clear skies cry. From cloudless skies come clear raindrops that shift into flames as they fall. The waters of the river begin to boil as cracks open up in the earth.

The wind carries a message, a woman's voice declaring, "Return to Hell or die!"

No good. Your words are drowned out by the heavens thundering tremendously, blood-red lightning raining down.

Aurora is safe. It is a refuge that you and the soldiers return to, obtaining sanctuary within. From here you can watch the apocalypse unfold.

The ground bubbles and boils, becoming a rainbow-colored slurry that shifts into strange geometric patterns. The skies rain fire and blood, cascading down on the broken ground. Gale winds blow that howl with diabolical fury and the ring of battle. Snow and ice erupt from the ground like veins bursting through skin, melting into sizzling purple fire. Earthquakes, semi-constant and varying in intensity. The sound of trumpets blast across the world, answered by roars of infernal wrath.

Mirajane watches this raptly, as does Sylvie.

"Mother," Mirajane says, "The world is terrified. Nature is terrified of the spirits fighting for the fate of this world. It is torn between being what it should be and what Semyaza forces it to be."

"Could be worse. You could be seeing what I'm seeing. All the sins committed on Benfal are being shed like pus from an infected wound." Sylvie speaks weakly, voice ill and shaking, "So many of them are Semyaza's. It's burning the diabolical sickness out of the world."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 14, 2017, 02:12:54 PM
"I don't suppose either of you sees anything we can do?" Jaela asks, wondering if their own world would require direct divine intervention to truly be saved.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 14, 2017, 02:17:48 PM
"I draw some comfort from imagining Taelfagn stuck in that mess," Sylvie says, eyes locked on the disaster outside. "Right now, no. We did our part."

"...I'm not sure. I see...something. Spirits," Mirajane frowns, "Unclean spirits."

"Well, when you clean an infected wound... the infection is still there, just removed from the wound, right?" Moore says. "It sounds like this is the same sort of thing -- the embodiment of this blight." He rubs his chin for a moment. "I think we'd need some sort of magic, if one even exists, to protect ourselves if we wanted to go out and try and deal with it..."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)

"Can 21 manage this, if it didn't have someone like Semyaza to oppose it? For an entire devil-tainted world, I mean?"
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 14, 2017, 02:28:34 PM
Sylvie bows her head several moments. "Yeah, probably. I can't do it with 21. I bet the Incarnations could've. I've barely scratched the surface of what 21 could do."

"Circles of protection from evil may help, but I doubt it. I'm not sure anything can help in this disaster," Mirajane says rather quietly as well, the four of you staying close together.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 14, 2017, 02:36:19 PM
Whatever else, it's her second front row seat to the apocalypse of a Prime, and this time Jaela isn't forced to fight for her life. She might as well use it as an opportunity to study the heights she needs to reach to actually force the devils off Lifasa for good.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Nephrite on February 14, 2017, 02:43:51 PM
Is what's currently going on kind of a scaled up version of spiritual wounds? Or is it actually on the level of alter reality and that sort of thing so it's not even comparable? I'm just looking for a possible spell or something that might be able to make a zone we could stand in to avoid the effects for a while.

Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Ebiris on February 14, 2017, 02:52:33 PM
Having already given the rapid response unit their orders to sally forth, Afina approaches Jaela as the leader of the main bulwark currently present in the courtyard. "Jaela," she speaks up in greeting. "The fight between deities is stirring up malign spirits from the ground that will be drawn to beacons of righteousness such as Aurora. I've sent out some forces to hunt them and thin their ranks, so those of us here will need to take positions to defend Aurora for any that get past or prove too much for our hunters. Is everyone here still able to fight?"
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 14, 2017, 03:01:44 PM
"Morale's pretty high and everyone's raring to go," Jaela responds with a slight smile. "We took no meaningful losses in the Liber assault, so there's no need to reorganize anything." The smile is gone as she says, "We can only account for one spot on the entire world, though, unless you want to start teleporting officers around on solo missions."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 14, 2017, 03:06:31 PM
Moore thinks so, but on a far larger scale. It's basically the end result of multiple spiritual wounds left unchecked - reality is revolting, unraveling. This is to a typical spiritual wound as a lion is to an ant.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Ebiris on February 14, 2017, 03:07:45 PM
"No, we can only defend Aurora here. Only our officers can expect to even survive more than a few minutes outside like this. We'll defend Aurora and destroy or pin down those spirits that are drawn our way," Afina says, accepting their limitations.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Nephrite on February 14, 2017, 03:08:47 PM
Would it be reasonable to believe, based on that, that wish/miracle might be able to create a temporary area of safety? Or multiple wishes/miracles if necessary? I'm basically thinking of something like a 50ft area dome / orb of safety bubble in front of Aurora or somewhere nearby it.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Anastasia on February 14, 2017, 03:13:11 PM
Possibly, but Moore has his doubts. This is beyond mere mortal magic, even such powerful spells. Perhaps one sufficiently powerful could, in the same vein as some curses needing a powerful enough spellcaster to break.

"Are we staying inside Aurora and letting them come to us?" Sylvie asks.
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 14, 2017, 03:13:43 PM
"Do we know anything about these spirits?" Jaela inquires. "Strength and the like? If it's wraiths, we would be best served only sending out the priests and officers, lest we make more of them."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Ebiris on February 14, 2017, 03:16:24 PM
"I'm not sure that they're actually undead. The description I was given is was hellish spirits bound to the world by Semyaza, formed of pure malice and rampaging wildly," Afina admits. "I'd treat them more like devils than spectres. We'll be staying inside Aurora for the most part, sallying out if they get wise to our gate traps. I'm not sure how intelligent they'll be either. Lots of unknowns here, I'm afraid."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Corwin on February 14, 2017, 03:17:49 PM
Jaela nods. "We've worked with less when we had to. And at least it's something to do. Frustrating as that is, we really can't do a thing to affect the actual outcome here."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Nephrite on February 14, 2017, 03:19:09 PM
Moore huffs as if he's having some sort of mental debate about something that he ended up getting an answer he didn't like.

"If we're going to do anything about the area outside at all, we'd need divine, or nearly divine help -- and I know our allies have their proverbial hands full, so our cries to them would be but a yelp." He shakes his head and sighs at that. "If we could manage it, I think it might be easier to fight them that way and safer for us, but... calling on that sort of divine aid isn't exactly easy for anyone, I'm afraid. If we have to just wait for them to come to us like you said, then that's just what we'll have to do."
Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)
Post by: Ebiris on February 14, 2017, 03:20:47 PM
"I like to think our contributions mattered," Afina says sanguinely. "Killing those giant twins and the dogai, they robbed Semyaza of valuable support that might have turned the tide elsewhere, forced him into battle before he was ready. But yes, we won't be the ones striking the final blows in this battle."

As all of you prepare and the rapid response readies going out? A rift opens above Aurora. From it a howling mass of black comes forth, the DIEtop of it twisted into a screaming DIEface. It plunges towards Aurora - and DIE hits the sphere of force. It's momentarily stopped DIEbefore it tries again, slamming into it over and over again.

DIEDIEDIEDIEDIEDIDIEDIEDIE!

Your heads pulse as you look at the creature.

Suffer.

Looking at it shakes you. It is wrong. It is nothing but the worst parts of you, bringing to mind painful truths best buried. The little droplets of poison you hide away within yourself, pooled together.

"Aye," Gisfal calls as the four of you race out. Winds whip at you immediately as you race up, thunder bursting in the skies above like drumbeats.

You're 100ft away and 200ft below the spirit right now. Due to the weather conditions, each square of movement counts as difficult terrain and costs double. Immunity to wind effects or freedom of movement defeat this, mention if you have it.

Init.

Sorry Afina, the problem's beyond control weather to meaningfully impact. Control weather works within the natural system, which is currently being messed up by divine power. It's simply not able to compete with that sort of power and fix the cause of the disturbances. Freedom of movement and the like are effective because they're working around you rather with a system that's going tits up thanks the divine throwdown going on.

Big, Afina. You were in it even from there, so it's a good distance. You'd have to experience it again from farther away to tell more, since there's no one else around to help determine a range.

Pain - but all of you still dodge the hail, avoiding the deadly storm.

Init is Afina (46) > Moore = Sylvie (38) > Jaela (36) > Spirit of Malice (33) > Mirajane (9)

Mirajane chants amid the windstorm, "Triune," she calls in Celestial, "Light the way as the world ends!"

Celestial valor cast on everyone. Righteous fury on herself.

Go Afina.

Your words of magic fill those that hear them with deep wellsprings of righteous bravery. Each target of this spell gains a +8 sacred bonus to saving throws against fear and any emotion based effect that would sap the will to fight, such as calm emotions or crushing despair. In addition, celestial valor grants a +4 sacred bonus to attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, armor class and saving throws.

Finally, any weapon they use counts as a holy weapon for the duration, granting 2d6 extra damage against evil targets. This does not stack if the weapon already has the holy special property.

Spirit is immune to dazing but both hit.

Your touch comes in contact with the impure thing before you. Touching it causes your world to go black.

"No, get away-"

"AAAAAAH! WHY?"

"Stop!"

Images. A moment where you see the sins that have bled into the land. The devils marching, the Raspine Bands, collaborators, sacrifices.

Only your mind blank saves you from being ill, from your mind retreating away from everything in horror. It smooths over the mental assault and leaves you intact, if still feeling polluted and contaminated by the contact.

The spirit writhes as all of it heats up and sizzles, the touches leaving it cooking. It's twisting in the air as...

2 points of vile Wisdom damge but no other effect, Afina. Touching a primal spirit of pure malice fed by devilish atrocities wasn't the wisest choice ever.

Moore and Sylvie. Go Moore.

Touch attacks count as touching things unless the spell or effect explicitly says otherwise. Comes up in touch attacks and in the SRD. The example is getting burned if you use a touch spell on a fire elemental.

Title: Re: Liber (Jaela, Moore)

Apocalypsy is a good word.

For the time being, Moore stays where he is and offers further support to his allies -- if he has to raise his voice louder, he will!

Standard action to cast Carrying Voice to improve his ability to be heard in the loud noises.

Inspire Greatness on himself, Sylvie, Mirajane, Jaela and Afina. This is 8d10 temp HP for all of them, +8 to attack rolls and +4 to fort saves, they are competence bonuses.

Finally he's using an immediate to activate his Badge of Valor, which increases Inspire Courage by 2.

This means that everyone should have a total of +14+2+8 to attack rolls, and 14+2 to damage rolls.

Inspire Courage is now at 10 rounds left.

Create Magic Tattoo, CL 26, Duration 24 hours

You hit - striking it deeply into it, your goldenfire spear making the spirit wail. A wail of sublime agony, shaking in place as your flame strike fizzles against it, consumed.

At the same time Sylvie positions as 21 is withdrawn, three profound words uttered as...

<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 163 > [d12=2,10,6,5,6,7,4,7,9,6,6,8,12,2,7,11,8,11,5,1,9]
> roll 1d20+30
<Serith> Kotono roll for Serith < 40 > [d20=10]/i]

Wounded from your strike, the spirit breaks apart and is completely dissolved in 21's light. But that doesn't stop the hail falling all around you.

Ref saves and then we'll go into free act after I resolve this. Reasonably tough but not a ton of HP by standards.

"If you choose to use magic, then focus on overcoming its resistances!" Moore calls to his allies. "However, if you'd rather strike, then strike!"

Swift action to switch aura from Dexterity bonus to Determined Caster, so everyone gets +12 to bonuses to overcome SR.

Move action (via Harmonize) to use Inspire Courage, +14 to attack, weapon damage, and charm and fear saves.

Standard action to use Destined Strike, +3 to attack and weapon damage, improved crit feat, and +12 to confirmation on crit rolls.

Inspire Greatness is still in effect and will start counting down after this round.

This gives everyone the following total bonuses:
Attack: 14 (morale, inspire courage), +8 (competence, greatness), +3 (untyped, destined strike) +2 (untyped, bonus from harp)+1 (circumstance, aura) = +28
Weapon damage: 14 (morale) +3 untyped = +17
Bonus to overcome SR = +12
+2 to CL for spells (sorry, I forgot about this before but it's part of his repertoire)
+4 competence bonus to fort saves

Hail continues to fall but you dodge. As you do, Mirajane's eyes widen, "It's coming! The rest of it!" she shouts, preparing.

Readying a mass heal if it's needed, since she can't do a lot directly at the moment. Impure spirit is up.

The ground all around you - far more than just where the hand broke through - explodes up in a rain of shards. As you endure that, the creature emerges. Far larger than a titan or even a dragon, it looms over a hundred feet tall. It is roughly humanoid and male, beautiful to look at. It is missing its left arm and looks furious as it raises its foot up to stomp Jaela flat.

Its movement provoked an AoO from you, Jaela. You can take it if you like.

It's a stab straight up, managing to impale the shin of the creature. Goldenfire spreads and burns through it, but slowly. It resists, the wound merely a pinprick as its other foot comes on down.

Init is Afina (63) > Screaming Face (60) > Moore (54) > Sylvie (53) > Jaela (34) > Mirajane = Impure Spirit (20)

Afina zips around the massive spirit as she attacks again and again, rising up and leaving little cuts all over its body. It's as if a titan is trying to be worn down by papercuts, as the ground and world shakes again.

"NO!" A man's voice cries in anguish, "GIVE IT BACK!" Earthquakes intensify, the skies turning pitch black.

At the same time, you can see it, 400ft ahead. A blur of black, a screaming face trailed by energy. It's howling in fury and racing right towards all of you, too.

Go Moore.

Jaela.

Angelfeather Stone: This stone enables the combination magic 'Twin Gambit.'
Twin Gambit
Users: One creature that has the feat Robilar's gambit and one creature with combat reflexes.
Positioning: Users must be adjacent to one another.
Duration: 1 round.
Saving Throw: None.
On using this combination magic, the user with combat reflexes moves into the same square(s) as the user with Robilar's gambit. The users must be the same size, with the sole exception of small and medium creatures. These two types of creatures may use this ability together. Both creatures offer up Robilar's gambit, and both gain an AoO whenever Robilar's gambit is triggered on either of them. If one of the users is dropped during this combination magic, the other keeps the benefits of Robilar's gambit for the rest of the round, including gaining an AoO against the creature who dropped the other use. This combination magic may be repeated each round as the users wish. When the users cease to use it, the user with combat reflexes must immediately leave the other user's square.

"Let's-" Mirajane begins and then she stops with a gasp.

The sound of a bell being rung. It resonates across everything, a beautiful sound that makes the spirit before you crack like glass.

A blur follows.

...then if all must...

...glory everlasting...

...in the sky above...

...forty nine beautiful...

All of you awaken on the ground, stunned. The impure spirit is gone, as if it was never there. Above, the bright blue sky of Benfal shines, sunlight coming down.  There are no signs of the spirit that attacked you nor of the damages you saw wrack the land. Beyond Aurora you see a natural land, full and splendid in life, unblemished.

As all of you rise, a voice that speaks words you do not know is understood to you. It is a voice impossibly beautiful, capturing your attentions as you begin to rise.

"It is over. Rise."

As Jaela flies up, she sees Liber, whole and intact, restored. The dead rise, restored to life. There is no sign of the devils at all. The air becomes increasingly pleasing, your wounds beginning to mend on their own. A sense of rightness fills you, a sense of being home, of being allured. A sensation all of you have experienced before: The pull of Elysium.

Jaela can't help but wince. Even after all this time, her bias against Elysium remains. "We'll begin to send out the refugees at once," she speaks out, confident that a deity talking to them can hear the answer as well.

For the sake of avoiding a minor topic split, I'll just have him you wait with Afina in the courtyard.

Perhaps ten minutes pass. All of you rest as refugees head out and soldiers bustle about. It's noisy and busy, Mirajane coming over to you. "Mother," she murmurs, "We should send Sylvie or another back out to get that spell we need for Grandmother and Canderella."

In the meantime a figure appears outside of Aurora. He's wearing full armor and a helmet, features hidden. He carries a bastard sword and shield, stepping back and looking up, whistling loud enough to be heard.

Elena squeals and blushes, hands to her cheeks as she beats a hasty retreat. That draws a few subdued laughs from everyone, "On behalf of Aurora," Tepen speaks up, "You have the floor, Donald. Tell us what happened."

"Yeah, well..." Donald takes off his helmet, brushing his hair back. He has the features of an elf with dragon's blood. "Semyaza got his hands on something called the Icon of the Compact. It let him direct Benfal's magics and granted him the magical ability of an archdruid well beyond the 9th circle. It was the root of a lot of the problems in Benfal and the battle against him revolved around that. My understanding's that there wasn't any way to half ass it, they had to use their full divine power on Semyaza to oppose it. Hence all the weather that went wrong."

After a pause to grab a drink of water and gun it down in one shot, "Anyway, they got the Icon back, but not before Semyaza had done too much damage to Benfal. He did even more as a means to cover his retreat. Now if you ask me, that's the sign of compensating for something. No wonder he acts like he does. So then Alicia did something, not sure what. Deity business, none of them will give me the straight story on it. Everyone forgets a few minutes, anathemic knowledge, and Benfal's whole and in Elysium. Thalasia in particular."

Jaela recalls something, a tiny fragment that she can barely recall. Just a name and a title - it came up in Hanna's speaking with dead dragons and...somewhere else. Research you want to say, but it's hazy.

Cantasa Alexandria, Maiden of the Gate.

You're fairly sure you're forgetting something you read, in the sense of anathemic knowledge rather than just forgetting, too. Isn't the first time you've ran into that problem.

"Do we want to save Lifasa by sending it to Elysium?" Jaela decides to ask bluntly.

"Yeah, g'luck. I think they'll only tell an actual deity," Donald grumbles, "Got a bunch more too. All the official congratulations, promises of further aid, celebrations and all that'll follow. You know, the stupid official shit."

Meanwhile Adrian crosses his arms, "Better than Hell if we have to make that choice. We need more information here about this and why it happened."

"I've been thinking that once we get all nine of the traitors and their rings, we could pull off a ritual of our own," Jaela muses. "But if the Icon served a similar purpose and Alicia could challenge Semyaza over possession of it, maybe we should make a push for Lifasa as soon as we can prepare for the assault?"

"Sooner is better of course, but we're a ways off from having the numbers to retake Lifasa," Afina says.

"We'll be hard pressed to get all of them. I'd bet you money they have them locked up tighter than a princess's snatch," Adrian frowns and sits back, "If these rings are so important, they aren't going to let us get all of them without one hell of a fight."

After a pause, "However, logic dictates that because they're on Lifasa and with the traitors instead of deep in Hell, that they need to be there."

"That's the thing. If the Icon's possession wasn't necessary, maybe we don't actually need all of the rings. If a friendly deity was willing to contest things with the two we have, we might get someone from Hell to show up in opposition. And if taking a world kicks all devils off it, we won't need the numbers to actually occupy it afterwards."

"I think getting pulled to Elysium kicked the devils off, and I wouldn't consider that a best result for us," Afina points out. "Though if we win decisively they'll surely retreat their forces, it's going to require a lot more than just conquering a single city like we did here. Personally I was thinking something like capturing Lixer and bargaining his freedom for Lifasa is the best way of short circuiting the whole campaign, but that's not easy either."

"In the meantime, perhaps we can work on some operations to capture or get rid of more of the Lifasan traitors?" Moore asks. "Or is that too obvious a plan considering our victory here?"

"Not right now, we're all winding down from combat," Afina says, not in the best headspace for military planning. Also she did take some wisdom damage earlier. "But you can draw up some ideas and we'll see what works in the coming days."

"We have a lot to do," Tepen says quietly, "Many options avail us and many more paths are open. Generals..." He looks up to all of you, "What does Aurora do next?"

And we'll pause there to give you all a few days to ponder this OOC. You have options and paths to consider now, after all. Tonight sometime will be the battle summary, more loot posting and sorting out all sorts of things.
