Once Afina is gone, Ilsenine closes her eyes and rests on her throne. "It's been some time since I've had that level of excitement," she remarks.
"I should still apologize, Your Majesty." Moore says. "It was my inability to prevent us from being captured that could have led to a much worse scenario. I hope you can forgive me for my lack of foresight on the matter."
A wave of Ilsenine's hand. "There is no need. It is the slaad's fault, and the vagaries of fortune have chastised him. I will save my wrath for those who deserve it."
Moore can't help but smile a little as he bows deeply. "Your forgiveness is a weight off my shoulders. In that case, since it seems like affairs here did not progress overmuch while we were gone, would you care to see if we can speak with Lord Crystalle of Mineral... ah, a second time, as it were, Your Majesty?"
"Yes, but as much as I dislike it, we shall not go alone," Ilsenine says, "Should forces again interfere, we cannot be caught off guard and under prepared. If it had been the forces of Hell instead of that slaad, we would be suffering a fate worse than death."
"Of course. Do you have someone in mind?" He asks.
"No. I leave the choice to you," Queen Ilsenine says, "Go, find someone worthy."
Moore nods and will head out to find someone!
He'll ask Elena if there's anyone who'd be interested in a trip to Mineral!
Elena pops in as requested. She's dressed up as you, "Hiii," she waves, "I can get someone. Do you need any skills in particular?"
"Anyone would be fine, though less on the supporting side of things and more on the smashing or exploding side of things." Moore says.
"Oh, I know who's perfect for it," Elena says, "He's available, too. I'll get Stille to meet you at Aurora's gates when you're ready."
"Perfect!" Moore nods as he heads back to report to Ilsenine.
Okay, ready to move along then, Moore?
yar, greater plane shift again to Crystalle's Place! Or try to!
"Ah, Your Majesty," Stille bows deeply to Queen Ilsenine, "I see the stories of your dashing companion are not mere bard speak."
Ilsenine merely nods as she flutters behind you, "Yes, and we are heading to Mineral. You must not touch a single treasure there."
"It'll be tempting, but yeah, that's the rule we're following. They seem to appreciate it." Moore says.
"That will be no imposition," Stille says, "Now then, Your Majesty, may I lead you on."
From there it's a portal to Mineral and you appear in a familiar cavern. It's not Crystalle's Palace, but it's not far from it, either.
Huh, that's weird. Were the slaad responsible for them ending up at the gem river...?
"This way, you two." Moore says as he leads the way!
As you approach Crystalle's Palace, you find the way to it is studded with newly grown crystals. Quartz as big as Hanna if not bigger, glowing bright white to pale yellow. Resonating rings sound from them, a constant chorus of musical noise.
"Huh, those are new. I wonder what happened..." Moore wonders.
Take 10 for 49 on spellcraft on them
No magic, oddly enough.
"...I have no idea what these do, but somehow it isn't magical." Moore says as he scratches his head.
And K check to identify what they are?
K:D or K:L (Mineral).
Take 10 on K:L for 44
It is a strange thing called crystalline music. Energy from Mineral is manifesting through the crystals, a ringing sound the result. It's harmless enough and a natural expression of Mineral's power.
"Crystalline music." Moore explains. "It's a natural phenomenon in Mineral." He continues on past it!
"Ah, how quaint," Stille says, "What beautiful and strange music."
"I rather like it," Ilsenine murmurs, "There is something appealing about it, though I can't put my finger on what."
"It's unique -- I may try and learn what sounds they make and see if I can incorporate it into my own." Moore says with a nod.
As you approach, you hear the ringing growing louder. From the ground a mass of crystals in a vaguely human shape arises. It speaks in the rings, saying thus, "Welcome, visitor."
"Hello!" Moore greets with a bow. "Moore of Aurora, I am here to speak to Lord Crystalle or one of his adjutants. This is Queen Ilsenine of the Aurora Court and Stille, one of my comrades."
"I speak as Crystal," The mass of crystals replies, a voice amid the ringing. "I speak for Crystalle, as he is not here. I declare that you may speak to me and I will speak to you."
"Very well, Crystal. We wished to come and see how things were with Lord Crystalle and see if there was anything we could do to further our diplomatic relationship with him and Mineral in general." Moore explains.
The ringing gets louder as Crystal tilts back, a few small crystals falling off his 'head' and to the ground, where they join his 'feet'. "I say there is not, Lord Crystalle is content."
Moore nods. "Very well then. Oh, I don't know if it's still there, but you had a slaad-owned house near the gem river, just so you know."
The ringing becomes discordant, echoing, "I see the creatures of chaos do not learn," Crystal murmurs.
"Ah... yeah, they tend to be pretty stubborn." Moore agrees. "If you need any help with them, please let us know. In addition, do not hesitate to petition Aurora if you find we can be of aid to you."
"I strive to see them chastised," Crystal replies, "I know they will be taken care of. I will contact you if Lord Crystalle wills it."
Moore gives a gracious bow. "By your leave, then." He says as he flies a bit away to confer with the others.
"Well, that wasn't quite as exciting as I was hoping, but I hope they appreciate our desire to stay in contact. Anything the two of you want to do while we're here?"
Stille considers, "Nothing worthwhile," he shakes his head, "Though I admit it is quite an experience to see this."
Ilsenine agrees, "If we are done, we are done. Let us return home."
"It really is a unique plane." Moore agrees. "All right, let's return then."
He'll gate them back! If there's nothing else pressing he'll see if there's anything to do in Aurora in general.
Just general around Aurora stuff or more far reaching?
He's Quest-hunting, does that help?
EDIT: He would be fine taking the lead we had on help from Elysium, if you wanted to do that. I didn't want to just suggest it since it's sort of OOC knowledge.
That's totally OOC knowledge, so no. If you come on that naturally that's another thing altogether.
Poking around Aurora goes well enough. You're in the middle of it when Elena pops up next to you in a hallway. "Hi. Looking for something to do? That's great because Morniel wants your help with something."
"Certainly. Where is he?" Moore asks.
Once he finds out, he'll head to meet him!
Elena's wearing a simple dress today, smiling as she plays with the end of her long sleeve. "Oh, he's in the meeting room and waiting for you. Adrian's there too. It's about diplomacy, and not the kind that begins and ends at sword point."
Soon enough you're there. Adrian's sitting, Gaelach nearby but otherwise in his full armor. He's cleaned up - hair trimmed, face smooth of stubble and gear pristine. He nods to you as you come in, "Moore," he says, "We're probably going out soon, so bear that in mind if you aren't prepared for that. Now then, Morniel?"
"Thank you," Morniel murmurs, then turns to you, "We're received a diplomatic entreaty from a group of valkyries in Ysgard. They want to talk and made pains that they don't want to fight - unusual enough for them - that the situation is highly unusual. I could use your help with the diplomatic aspects, as well as support of combat occurs anyway. As it is Ysgard, that is more likely than not."
"Well, it's certainly odd enough to warrant the attention since they're going to these great lengths. I'm ready and able to go whenever you'd like." Moore says with a nod. "I'll help out however I can."
Morniel nods, then with a grave look, "Do you wish to know about this group before we leave?"
"Yeah, I assumed you would," Adrian says, "Go over it again, I wouldn't mind hearing it again to have it straight in my head." He kicks back, "In fact. Elena, make sure you're listening in case anyone has to follow us so they don't go in blind."
Elena winks in long enough to say, "I'm listening," cheerfully and then vanish.
"It sounds like we'd better have as much information as possible." Moore agrees.
"Ahem," Morniel clears his throat and then has a drink from a small glass of water nearby. "The Talon Seven are a group of valkyries that specialize in aerial combat. Despite the name, there are more than seven of them, that refers to the founders of the order. They primarily recruit valkyries who have a penchant for aerial combat and maneuverability. They are not terribly different than countless other war bands in Ysgard, though this one is well known due to the fact that the Talon Seven's founders defeated an invasion from Limbo spearheaded by Chourst."
"A slaad army. Really?" Adrian scowls, "I don't believe it for a moment."
"Ahem," Morniel again clears his throat after being interrupted. "You must understand it was more like a stampede of slaad sent in the general direction of Ysgard, along with whatever other creatures felt like following the slaad along. Chourst chose to call it an army, but it was anything but that. These things happen occasionally and it isn't the first time a stampede of slaad have invaded another plane. In this case, the seven founders of the Talon Seven lead their troops and pushed back the slaad, and then the seven founders confronted Chourst."
A pause for a look to all of you, "Six were obliterated for all time. The seventh managed to push Chourst back through the portal and had the surviving mages seal it before they could return. The survivor is named Malonia and she has a rather cautious air to her after that encounter. Some caution is her hallmark now, but this amount of caution and to contact a force that should be neutral at worst to her is unusual."
"Hmph," Adrian shakes his head, "I can chalk up what happened to the other six founders to Chourst somehow getting around Ysgard's resurrection since he's a slaad lord, but what about the rest of them? At worst we kill them and let them resurrect the next dawn."
Moore listens and nods a few times during the explanation. "It may have something to do with our reputation with the slaad. I mean, I don't know how famous that relationship is regarding certain people, but it could have some impact." Moore adds. "Either way, we may as well meet them in good faith -- if it does come to a combat, I'm confident in our chances."
"Yes. To continue and conclude, they group is approximately 200 to 400 valkyries strong, more precise information is not known and membership is not static." Morniel says, "Should they wish to join us, I would recommend it wholeheartedly. Should they wish to battle, I suggest repelling the initial forces and pursuing an escape as smoothly as possible. We gain little by doing war with them, win or lose."
Adrian grabs Gaelach at that and puts it over his back, "Yeah, that sounds about right. Fight if we have to and get out of there. Thing is, between Baleruk and 27, we do have some ties to the slaad, which may well be it. They may have a problem with us on account of one of them or even both."
"If not that, then perhaps word about our involvement in Benfal is what's spurring this." Moore says with a hopeful smile. "Either way, I think we're as prepared as we can be."
Any prep beyond visiting the mission readiness arch?
No, I think we're good. I'll do a statblock with the purchases included if needed.
The three of you soon gather at Aurora's gates. "I'll lead the way until the real talking starts, at which point you two can do your word magic," Adrian says, adjusting his cloak and belt once before walking towards the portal. "If combat breaks out, fall back behind Morniel or myself, Moore."
Morniel merely nods once, striding forward with an aura of quiet confidence.

"You got it." Moore agrees with a nod.
It is a mountain, clouds below you stand in the thin air. On a cliff path that winds upwards alongside a mountain that stretches higher and higher into the starry night sky. A frigidly cold wind blows through your clothes like it isn't there.
Adrian glances, "Close as we could get it?"
"Yes," Morniel says, "The last leg will be on foot...or wing," he admits. "For aerial creatures like the Talon Seven, this is a sop towards those without wings, nothing more." He takes to the air, "Follow me."
Moore taps his ring once to give himself an Endure Elements spell.
"Adrian, do you need help flying? I've got a spell if you do." Moore says.
Adrian flies into the air with ease, tiny wings forming on the sides of his boots. "I didn't get this far by completely neglecting fundamentals," Adrian retorts with a crooked smile. "Save your magic in case we get into a fight or ten."
"Quite," Morniel says, "If you wish to weave long term magic around yourselves, now is the time. We may not get the chance once we reach them."
"In that case..." Moore says as he waves a hand a few times.

What does Tyche's touch do?

You fly on, into the thin and and battle the cold winds. Soon enough the party reaches the mountaintop. The mountaintop has been removed and a great stone claw, larger than a great wyrm dragon, thrusts up into the sky. Resting in the palm of the claw is a stone citadel, open air and shielded by the upraised claws of the stone claw.

Moore nods and flies in that direction!
"Nice," Adrian whistles as he takes the lead. "Damn nice. It's enough to make me want one of my own."
"You could see about borrowing this one if things go well," Morniel says, completely deadpan.
"Yeah, that's-" Adrian stops and smiles a bit. "You just made a joke. You must be in an exceptionally good mood."
As you fly down, you see figures flying up to meet you. A wing of seven winged celestials, clad in breastplates, greaves and armguards. They carry bow and arrow with swords at their side.
"Nevermind, time to make an impression," Adrian murmurs.
Moore will fly with the others and follow Morniel's lead unless something gives him pause to do otherwise!
You can make K:P on the celestials if you want, Moore.
"Greetings," Adrian calls as you come closer, "I am Adrian Barnan of Aurora. This is Morniel of Celestia and Moore of Aurora." You end up coming to within 10ft of them and at eye level.
One of the valkyries comes forward. She has long brown hair, loose down to her back. Her armor and weapons are much the same as others. This close you can see the slight scuffs and wear marks on her armor, as well as that they are not all uniform. Each set of armor has little adjustments to the shape and design, rather than being uniform.
"I am Rekka," The valkyrie introduces herself, "Come with me."
Take 10 for 59 then!
These are indeed valkyries. They have several notable abilities, such as a call to battle that raises the morale of their allies, the ability to make blistering counter attacks and the same fearlessness that paladins gain. They have several spell-like abilities to call on such as flame strike and blade barrier as well as defensive abilities such as damage reduction and spell resistance.
Chance to reply in case this changes anything for you.
Not unless Rekka's name is notable in some way.
The party is lead to the fortress. It is made of sturdy mountain stone and is a typical fortress. Thick walls, little arrow holes, fortified points to funnel attacks to defensive strong points.
You're lead into the halls, decorated with various and myriad banners of every shape and color. They hang on the walls, Adrian glancing at them as you go. "Victory trophies?" he asks.
"Yes," Rekka replies, her step crisp. She leads the way, with six valkyries behind you. "We hang the banners of defeated war bands here. Save for land bound armies who can do nothing against our arrows and magic. There's no glory in such a battle."
"Such a battle would be like exterminating a pit of lemures - risk free and yet unavoidably tedious." Morniel speaks up. "There is no glory to be found or strength to be proven in those battles."
"Correct," Rekka smiles tightly, drawing her blade and gesturing at them, "The banner of an enemy like this is worth less than the cloth it made of."
Moore stays quiet as they fly, looking at all the different banners. Huh, that sure is a lot...
He glances to Adrian then nods a few times to what Morniel is saying. "You don't really gain any sort of experience in doing something you know you can already do, especially if you have to do it at a level lower than what you're used to. It's the same with almost anything, really, I think."
"It's simply doing what you need to do," Rekka agrees as you're lead into a room with a long table. Long enough to sit dozens on the long side, yet narrow enough for just one seat at the ends. More banners decorate the walls here as you're lead to sit at the middle of the table, the valkyries sitting at the other to face you.
"You are being lead down a path of self destruction," Rekka says right away.
Moore tilts his head slightly, but looks to Morniel to respond first.
"Why is that?" Morniel asks with a polite expression, "Surely you do not hold fighting Hell is wrong, so it must be something else we are doing. Please, elaborate."
Rekka frowns deeply, "You are right. It is not the law-slavers we war against. It is the threat of the slaad and that they are using you. A slaad, even a friendly one, cannot be trusted. They are little different than demons, only more willing to put on a happy face before they rip your entrails out!" Her voice rises throughout this, "The Talon Seven have endured this before, survived it."
"If I might ask, do you have a specific example you'd care to give us wherein this threat is substantiated?" Moore asks, trying to sound as dignified and polite as he can muster -- which is actually pretty good!
"Baleruk to begin with," Rekka says, "He is a slaad in all but body, conspiring and working with them. He has ties to Renbuu, a slaad lord."
"That he does," Morniel says, "He has also proven to be a steadfast ally even with his quirks. We have no quarrel with Baleruk nor Renbuu, as well as no reason to suspect them of wrongdoing. Can you provide any?"
"I will admit that the slaad as a unified... force, if you will, are unpredictable." Moore says. "However, I think it would be folly to lay the blame for any specific acts at the feet of all in such a manner. Even if saying so, you certainly did not invite us here in such a manner to just tell us that we're doing something you frown on, correct?" He asks, as he folds his hands politely.
"Your crusade is good, I called you here to warn you. I hear a strange chaos-creature is the pet of one of your generals," Rekka continues. "Doubtlessly influencing you and twistingyou to its own amusement and ends. Can you trust such a creature?"
"He calls himself 27." Moore says. "As far as I'm aware, he's done nothing except be helpful in his time in Aurora. Although he can be annoying..." Moore shakes his head and then shrugs with a smile. "I think I can speak for our generals to say that we have that situation under control. However, if that isn't satisfactory, I'm certain that you or one of your brigade would be welcome to stay in Aurora to keep an eye on them -- As you say, our crusade is good, so you would be, ah... what's the saying, killing two birds with one stone?"
"Yes, if you have a problem with them, come meet them directly," Morniel offers, "Would that allay your concerns?"
Adrian nods after a moment, "I have no problem with that. Our Crusade's made up of many disparate groups."
Make a Diplo check here since this was your idea, Moore. Morniel will as well.
Those fools! Take 10 for 70. (+2 is from share talents)

Morniel smiles. "As one of the throne and tome, I give you my word that we will give you a chance to allay your suspicions, as well as be treated as any other member of the crusade." The throne archon rises, a golden glow around him as he reaches out and offers his hand to Rekka. "Please, accept our offer."
Adrian stays back during all of this, a quirky smile dancing on his lips.
Rekka's eyes widen, her next words dying in her throat. "I...that is..." she manages, voice suddenly little more than a few sputters of letters. The valkyries around her are just stunned, Moore and Morniel's sheer presence enough to silence them.
Clap, clap, clap. The sound of metal on metal. The figure that strides in over six feet tall and wears heavy metal armor. It is inset with red gold, giving it a luster like blood. Her hair is the dark red of blood first oozing from a wound, a mere longsword at her side and nothing else. She claps at the door and then strides in, "Rekka, attend me," she commands, the valkyrie slowly snapping out of it and hurrying to the valkyrie's side.
This new entrant walks over and takes Rekka's chair. "I am Malonia the Bloody, the sole survivor of a battle against Chourst." Her eyes are the color of cold steel, reflecting no light at all. "I am the Supreme Talon of the Seven Talons. Adrian, Moore, Morniel," she lists off, "You choose well for a battleground of words, General Adrian."
Adrian meets her gaze without the slightest give in him, "A warrior is only as good as his weapons. I can defeat any enemy in this battlefield with these two. Since you saw fit to interfere, what is the purpose of all of this? What do you want?"
"Most likely to save her allies from our 'silver tongues'." Moore says with a bit of a smile. "Lady Melonia, it is a pleasure to meet you." Moore flies up a moment to properly bow before he returns to his seat.
"Our offer remains the same, we have no reason to hide from the gaze of the battle-maidens." Moore says.
Morniel merely nods slightly to her. "A commander can't leave overmatched troops to be routed." The faintest hint of a smile shows on his face, "Though I suspect there were an intentional gambit, meant to lose and assess."
Malonia leans forward in her chair, a bit closer to you. You can smell a faintly bloody, coppery scent from her, filling your mind's eye with your past battles. Your body aches as dozens of wounds are relived in an instant. "You are as deadly with words as I thought," Malonia retorts, "Rekka and her Talon, dismissed."
The seven valkyries rise as one and leave promptly, leaving you alone with her. Once they're gone, Malonia removes her helmet. On the right side of her head, just above her ear, is an ugly round scar. "From Chourst, using the same power that obliterated the other founders of the Talon Seven. But it was not his power that did such a thing. Tell me, what do you know of Ygorl, slaad lord of entropy?"
Take 10 on K:P, I'd assume, for 61.
Ygorl is the slaad lord of entropy. He is said to be the second most powerful slaad, trailing only behind Ssendam. A powerful and enigmatic figure, he is nonetheless free of the taint of evil that so defines Shar and her entropy. It is said that he can take the form of death itself, the reaper of souls and ender of lives. Some stories claim Ygorl is afraid of Renbuu for reasons that are unclear (yet others claim it is Ssendam instead or that it is both of them).
"We know of him," Morniel says, "It is not a name unknown to us, though I would prefer not to say more for now." He leans back, "Understand that such names and powers are not bandied about lightly, nor is knowledge about them. Many mortal races consider Ygorl to be forbidden knowledge equal to any arch fiend, and there is wisdom to that approach."
"This. I know not how Chourst had it nor to what ends, but Chourst had entropic power from Ygorl when he invaded Ysgard." Malonia's voice is cold and calm as she points to her scar. "Know that I have pursued knowledge of Ygorl for long ages, so that I will be prepared for the day I challenge him. Know that his entropy brings an end to things, even your Crusade, and that his presence is in it."
"Really?" Morniel says mildly, "I must ask you how you came to that conclusion."
This feels like that mark that Jaela and Afina have that causes dragons to just lose their control and try and kill them... is it the same type of focus?
"By all means -- you obviously called on us in good faith to impart such knowledge to us." Moore says with a nod to Morniel's words. "Knowing full well we have the support of several divine realms behind us. Did something in your research point to a link?"
"I have learned to see the work of entropy," Malonia continues without any more prompting. "A sense as real to me as sight or smell is to you. Ages of study have made it as evident to me as this table is to your eyes," She knocks one metal-clad fist against the table.
A pause, a moment of silence before Malonia continues.
"I saw one of your officers in Brightwater recently. The feel of entropy is on him, of Ygorl's handiwork. Not from him, but one known to him. Know that the power of chaos you use is channeling a power that slowly unravels you and will doom you as surely as the devils themselves." Malonia says, "You court a power that will undo you, and it has begun to grow stronger. The touch of it is on all of you, and it is more potent than it was before."
"I have no reason to doubt your words, or at least your belief in those words." Moore says with a nod to Morniel and Adrian. "What would you propose that we do about it, exactly? This doesn't sound like something we could simply wave our hand and use magic on. Well... actually, maybe it is, depending on how strong the magic needs to be, but... ahem, excuse me, I digress." Moore clears his throat.
"But please, share with us your thoughts on what you would do to combat this." Moore says.
"Take me to your Aurora," Malonia says, her fist clenched tightly as it rests on the table. "I will discern the source of entropy and destroy it. It unlikely but possible it is Baleruk, as Ygorl finds Renbuu distasteful. The strange chaos-creature I hear of may be it, or another creature I do not know of. Regardless, I will smash it and free you of this influence."
"You speak of casually murdering a companion and ally," Adrian speaks up, "Someone who has been loyal to Aurora's cause this entire time."
Moore nods to both of them. "We would be happy to bring you to Aurora, but any actions after that would need to be approved by those in charge. I think it would be a disservice to everyone to just take action without thinking of alternatives or having a clearer understanding of what's going on. If you can agree to stay your hand even if confronted by, as you say, the source, then I think we can be in agreement?" He looks to Morniel and Adrian to make sure he isn't overstepping his boundaries.
Adrian nods slightly.
Morniel merely replies with, "Let us solve this issue civilly, rather than unchecked violence."
This is your idea, make a Diplo check, Moore.
Take 10 for 98, using Divine Insight and Greater Improvisation.
Morniel will aid you to get you to 100 even. He takes 10 on the check and auto passes.
A grunt. A sour, bitter sound, like stomach acid splashing up to befoul your tongue. Malonia meets your gaze, and something she sees in it makes her turn away.
Who can look at the sea of light and not turn away? Was that the question that had to be answered, or only a symptom?
"I will consider your offer," Malonia finally says, standing. "You may wander the fortress as you see fit, guards will turn you away from anywhere you are not supposed to be. The valkyries here are all warriors looking for battles. Indulge them." She turns and walks out of the room steadily, leaving the three of you alone.
"Can either of you give us a secure means of communication?" Adrian asks once she's gone.
Looked a little too deep, didn't you? Perhaps that's the secret to defeating entropy...?
Moore nods and casts a spell!
Limited Wish to emulate Telepathic Bond, CL 25 and lasts for 250 minutes. Casting it on himself, Morniel and Adrian, no shock there I'm sure.
'Test, test... I'm still not quite used to using this form of communication.' Moore sends to the others.
'It works,' Adrian sends back, 'There's one problem: I know she's talking about 27. It's come up with him before, so this is going to come down to us defending 27 against a powerful valkyrie.'
Morniel bows his head slightly, as if in prayer. 'A difficult situation, and in many cases, I would feel she has a point.'
'Yeah. His annoyances aside, 27's helped us many times over. We can't let her try and kill him unless she has firm evidence Ygorl's trying to destroy our Crusade through him.' Adrian agrees, arms crossed as he leans back in his chair.
'I would think that if that were the case, we'd have received some form of warning by now, right?' Moore sends.
'I mean, I doubt even someone like that could hide their powers from people like Sylvie and Balyss.' He adds. 'Actually...'
He rubs his chin and then snaps his fingers.
'Maybe 21 is the key here. Maybe we can have Sylvie help us by ensuring that only the truth comes out of this. I don't really get how 21 works -- er... I don't know that anyone does either, but nevermind -- but that's probably the most... mm... sure-fire way I think we could handle this, unless you two have some other idea?'
'Possibly,' Adrian says, 'But who knows with 27? Also, putting 21 and 27 together? That can't possibly work out well.'
'It may still be our best idea,' Morniel remarks, standing up and starting to walk. 'We can think it over and ask others when we get back to Aurora. We have time to ponder this mystery.'
Moore nods and starts to fly after Morniel.
"Do we have any plans on indulging the valkyries?" Moore asks with a small grin. "I don't know that they'd learn very much necessarily, but it might impress them enough to consider joining."
Adrian shakes his head. 'No chance unless they make one hell of a case,' he replies in your mind. 'As for impressing them, why not?' A smirk comes to Adrian's face.
Going to follow along is there anything here you want to do while you have a chance?
If we want to bloody a few noses we can, otherwise I'm good.

Rei says otherwise.
The three of you wander back outside. Here valkyries practice their swordplay, over a dozen one on one duels going. It's sword against sword, the clang of them a constant noise as the two of you take it all in. No quarter is asked for or given, blood spilled as easily as sweat. Fallen valkyries simply hit the ground and stay there, bleeding out and then pulled aside and away.
As the three of you take it in, a valkyrie approaches. She has long blonde hair and her sword it out. "You," she poitns her blade at Adrian, "Is there any skill to your name or are you hiding behind that archon?"
Adrian smiles just a bit, draws his blade and drops into position. "Want to find out?"
"Now Adrian, you wouldn't want to just show off, would you?" Moore asks, a hand over his chest as if offended. He turns to the valkyrie. "That wouldn't be very interesting for the rest of us. Perhaps our valkyrie friend could get some assistance, then I can help support you and make this far more interesting for Morniel to watch."
The valkyrie's gaze turns to you, "Are you implying I am too weak to fight him by myself?" she asks, voice a tight razor.
"I mean no offense and I would be surprised if you could best him." Moore says, simply.
A deep growl in the valkyrie's throat and then she rushes Adrian, dead on!
Init here. I presume you aren't participating and thus have no need to roll. True/false?
That is correct. If more than just her join in then I'll line about it and go from there.

For a moment, the two are entwined. Gaelach and the valkyrie's sword meet, tips pointing up at the sky. They're in close, almost face to face, until Adrian steps back and gives the valkyrie an elbow to the face. She stumbles back, in perfect position for Gaelach to cut her in half from head to groin. The pieces fall apart, Adrian lowering his blade after that.
There's a few moments of silence as the other duels come to an abrupt halt.
"Battle sisters!" Rekka's voice echos as she strides out, "We face worthy opponents in our very home! Shall we allow this to pass?"
"NO!" The valkyries cry as one.
Rekka marches to in front of all of you, pointing her sword right at the trio. "It wouldn't be fair you to face us one against all, mortal. I challenge the three of you on behalf of all of us. Show us your courage and your battle lust!"

Greater MI would likely go somewhere in between round 1 and 2 due to the way immediates work, but it hardly matters here.
Your bardic music fills the battlefield, bestowing courage and energy to all three of you. It overwhelms the noise of the valkyrie charge, for a moment the only sound is Moore's voice. Then it breaks, war returning with a vengeance, and yet the other two seem alight with magic and power.
Morniel holds for one moment, he'll let Adrian go since he's the damage source here. He may do mop up right after as needed.
Adrian inclines his head to Rekka, before returning the favor and charging headlong at her, meeting her midway.

Rekka is staggered.
The two meet amid a storm of arrows and fire, Adrian interrupting a sword swipe by shoulder-checking her. It knocks Rekka back, just in time for Adrian to kick her in the stomach. She's knocked back even further as he braces and swings his sword. The whistle of the wind joins your voice and the din of war as Rekka's gut is sliced open, armor cleaved through and middle turning red rapidly.
Meanwhile, Morniel turns and nods to Moore, standing guard in front of you. "Let any who come for him pass me first!" he declares.
Rekka staggers from the blow, "Hah....hah...." she coughs, eschewing further words for a quick swing at Adrian.

Adrian uses Rekka to his advantage, grabbing the staggered swordswoman by the arm and throwing her to the side. Arrows meant for him bounce off her armor instead. At the same time Morniel closes his eyes, blade moving of its own accord. Arrow after arrow is deflected, as meanwhile you use your side and speed to nimbly dodge them all. Up and down, around and back, weaving through them all.
A moment later, fire and blades consume all of you, blade barriers and flame strikes slamming into the battlefield.

Morniel meanwhile parries and thrusts out at the valkyrie in front of him. It's a direct hit into her shoulder, the valkyrie groaning in pain as Morniel rips the blade out. She's still up, however, shoulder ruined and bleeding all down her arm and side.

A sweep of Gaelach is naught but a silvery gleam, followed by sprays of blood from all the valkyries around him. They fall, Rekka stumbling as her chest is carved open like her stomach. "Damn your strength..." she manages, before joining her comrades on the ground. Adrian is bloodstained all over from the vakyries, as meanwhile Morniel grimly says, "This will not end until they all meet death's brief embrace. Such is the diplomacy of Ysgard."

Morniel is no less deadly. A valkyrie falls, left arm severed at the shoulder. She screams and cries, grasping at the stump as she falls, bleeding out. Another looks down as Morniel impales her through her heart, then rips the blade out. She falls, all while fumbling at where her heart should be. A third is simply decapitated, numbers around you waning fast.
"Yes, to glorious battle!" One of the valkyries calls. You honestly can't tell which, as you dodge yet another arrow. "Victory or death!" Then the arrows stop, the remainder attacking or summoning power from afar choosing to charge you instead.
Admittedly not tactically sound, but remove anything but a mild inconvenience from dying and mix in the culture that ensues means you get situations where ego and oneupsmanship is more important than sound tactics.

The burst of sound erupts out around the valkyries. Another falls, ears and eyes bleeding, as the survivors endure. Amid all of this Adrian holds his position, simply cutting down those who attack him.

Valkyries are cut in half along the chest, Adrian's sweep of the blade clearing out half a dozen around him and then more as they rush him. As blood rains down and valkyries fall, Morniel grimly presses his own offensive, face set in a neutral, focused mask.

It's over.
The last valkyries, bloodied by your shout, fall to Morniel's blade. The only consolation is that these wounds not fatal, leaving them lying about rather than slain. You stand in a wasteland of combat after it, Adrian shaking his head and coming over. "It's done." He cleanses himself with a grunt and gesture, magic wrapping over him. "We should have peace and quiet after that."
Free act.
"Morniel, do you think they think more of us, or less of us now?" Moore asks, clearing his throat a bit as he tries to avert his eyes from all the carnage. "On some level I'd think they'd have to respect us a bit, but some might argue we were just picking on them needlessly." He says.
"On the other side, they did all choose to attack us." He adds with a shrug.
"They started the fight and it's Ysgard," Morniel kneels and cleanses his blade on a slain valkyrie, then rises. "Respect. Strength gains respect here."
"Yeah, it was fun, but I don't enjoy cutting down celestials, even if they'll get better," Adrian admits once Gaelach is back in its sheathe, coming over to join the two of you. He flies up a bit, over the bodies all around. "Takes a lot of the fun out of it."
"I suppose our next camping trip should be somewhere with more fiends, then." Moore says with a grin. "If nothing else, hopefully this will garner us a few extra recruits. I'm hoping the propaganda I had spread around Benfal has had some impact, too."
Okay then, anything else to do out here or ready to move along on your end?
Good to go.
You come back inside - where you find Malonia, watching from the door the entire time.
"As expected," she says, "I know strength when I see it." Her arms are crossed, turning and leading you along without another word.
"I would ask that we do not do that again," Morniel says, "I have no taste for that manner of bloodshed."
Moore nods his agreement and follows along!
Back to the long table you were at before.
"I'll accept your offer," she finally says, "I'll show you what needs to be done."
Adrian nods slightly, "Fine with us. We can see what has your dander up and we'll go from there."
Moore nods. "All right, we're in agreement then. Once we arrive we'll ask one of our experts to join us to assist with this."
"We'll leave in the morning," Malonia says, gesturing back out, "As you made a mess of the Seven Talons, I will not leave until they are restored with dawn."
You have time to kill here. Is there anything you wish to do here or just move along?
There's nothing really on his agenda that won't likely lead to another bar fight, so we can just move along.
Let me pause you pending something to happen shortly. At worst you should resume tonight.
Small chat while waiting, since last night turned into me being wiped out.
That evening, the three of you are provided a shared guest room to sleep in. It's simple enough, save for the beds, which are soft and laden with warm quilts. Adrian lies on his, wearing his pants and little else, eyes closed. Man's ripped if nothing else, little patches of scaly skin here and there on him.
"Say," Adrian speaks up, "I got that Morniel didn't like it, but what did you think of that fight, Moore?"
Morniel sits on his bed, eyes closed and deep in prayer.
"I think the correct term is 'necessary evil,'" Moore says as he sits on the edge of his much larger than necessary bed, swinging his legs.
"It's funny, I think most people would be appalled that a celestial and other people associated with good and holy things would ever condone such a massacre of individuals. However, since being with Aurora, I've had the opportunity to visit a variety of different planes and meet so many people that I think I have a much better perspective than most when it comes to this kind of thing." He gestures out back towards the way they came from.
"The people here live to fight. They see fighting and battle as a means to an end, a way to communicate, a way to resolve disputes... fighting is their version of communication. Who are we to judge the manner in which others conduct their lives?" He says with a smile. "Basically, my point is that we gave them exactly what they wanted, I'm sure the deities of Ysgard would agree with that."
"Aptly said," Morniel speaks up, opening his eyes. "Violence is merely communication in Ysgard. Yet, we are to judge because we have seen something better," Morniel says, looking up. "I have seen the light of Chronias. Even from afar, it is enough to tell me this is not the true path."
"Chronias, huh?" Adrian lies back, looking up at the ceiling. "I'm looking up, but I see Selune more. She's been good to us."
Moore smiles at Morniel and then chuckles. "There are all sorts of lights to follow, some of them a little more blinding than others, I've found. Maybe if we have some fortune, those valkyries will decide to learn a few things from Aurora. Could you imagine Misalea or Mirima trying to teach them the Graceful Blow style?" He starts to laugh a little at that. "I bet they'd get into constant fights with Dana, too."
Adrian laughs quietly.
"Yes," Morniel says, "But there is only one true path to follow. It is imperative to remember that as well."
Moore rubs his chin at that. "You know, not to turn this into a theological debate on the merits of one path versus another, but I think pursuing a path of good nature and good actions is more important than anything else. Maybe there's some way to balance the truth of Chronias with Titania's endless dreaming, you know? What if those places end up converging into the same place?"
"That makes you sound like an angel, not an archon," Morniel says, with the gentlest reproach in his voice.
Moore grins at that. "A pixie angel, huh? Does that even work...?" He rubs his chin thoughtfully. "I actually wonder what Queen Titania even thinks of me at this point. She's probably amused that I managed to find myself a guest of Celestia at all. Maybe I'll ask her someday."
Do me a favor and make a Listen check.

"Someday," Adrian agrees, as the conversation begins to stall out.
Going to do anything here or just rest?
Just rest.

If there are other factors such as what kind let me know but I would guess that's high enough.
You sleep and dream of unremembered things. 31.
You awaken and stretch, feeling much better after your rest. Where the mourners await..
Moore yawns and pats his mouth a few times.
Huh, did he really not have any dreams?
Mm... .... He takes a breath.
"Maybe a trip to the land of dreams wouldn't be so bad..." He murmurs to himself.
Adrian's already up, geared up and sitting by the window. "Hey," he says absently, as...

The air's still thin, but you're dealing with it. You feel a touch tired and winded, but nothing you can't manage.
"Morniel's off getting us some breakfast. Holding up alright, not short of breath or dizzy?" Adrian keeps his gaze outside, as if watching something.
Just for reference, he has this: Moore's Necklace of Natural Armor and Natural Air - +5 to Natural Armor, immune to harmful vapors and gasses and can always breathe in any environment
Moore rubs at his eyes a few times. "Something isn't quite right." He says plainly. "I feel like I slept, but... I don't know how to explain it." He admits.
That would cover it.
Adrian turns to you and says, "That's because you didn't."
Moore blinks. "...Sorry, I didn't catch that... What happened?" He asks, with a frown forming.
Adrian gets up and approaches you, a look of concern flashing across his face. "You alright. You looked like you were about to fall over."
Moore narrows his eyes as he looks around, as if there's something wrong with the room they're in.
"I have... ..." He takes a breath. "Moments. Ever since I came to Aurora, I ... hear things sometimes, see things. It's a residual effect of..." He makes a sour face and gestures about. "The strange place I was before I came back. I know that doesn't really make sense, but... it's like..."
...it's like... ...
He takes a breath.
"Think of it like having a moment where everything turns into anathemic knowledge." He says.
Is that ... it? No, that can't be right...
Adrian nods, "Yeah, I remember a report about it. Chalked it up to another strange thing in Creation." She's waking up today. Go there now, it's your only chance.
Moore blinks, then blinks again. He opens his mouth to say something, then looks down.
He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath.
"This is going to sound extremely strange." Moore says. "Have you ever had a gut feeling like something was going to happen?"
"Yeah, usually before I have to go the bathroom. It's pretty accurate," Adrian says, relaxing a bit. "Heh, reminds me of..." he stops, shaking his head. "Nevermind, just a bit of my life before Aurora." Adrian looks down, eyes focused on something beneath his breastplate. An amulet, it looks like, but you can't quite tell for sure.
"Anyway, if you have intuition? Follow it. 'swhat Balyss or Stille would tell you, and Selune hasn't steered me wrong yet."
"Then I'll meet you back at Aurora." Moore says simply. "Don't let the crazy valkyrie near 27 without me."
He takes a breath and then Plane Shifts to Mount Celestia! Is he going to end up in Lunia, the same as every single other time he's been there? Probably!
But who's voice was that...?
Edit: To be fair this is Greater Plane Shift and he's aiming for Mercuria where he saw the tombs the last time. He's fully aware he is not going to actually get to Mercuria where the tombs are, but that's where he's aiming.
Light.
You are blinded by light.
You stumble, unable to see anything from the light.
You struggle against it, able to open your eyes enough to see. The shape of a tomb, glowing incandescently. The beautiful, clear sound of a trumpet sounding a glorious rally is heard, uplifting your spirit.
What in the world is going -on- today?
He knows it won't help, but he casts a spell to help him see better anyway. Vision of the Omniscient Eye, CL25
He struggles and pushes himself to fly forward. He has to keep flying forward.
He didn't come back just to fail.
"These things would be a lot easier if you'd just explain them in mundane terms, you know!" Moore shouts at no one in particular. "I could really use a summary version when this is all over!"
He has to keep flying -- he has to keep... going?
You see the tomb now. Jetina's tomb.
The door is barred shut with the light. The light that is blinding everything, yet it is beginning to give way.
High in the sky a trumpet archon plays, the source of the beautiful music.
"You've grown wise in understanding the omens and what lies beneath understanding," A voice says. It has no gender, perfectly neutral and without form. "Go to her. It's time."
"If you say so." Moore says with a shake of his head.
Nevertheless, he presses onward.
Through the light, to the tomb.
Time for what? Her to wake up?
How is he even going to explain any of this to her? To anyone??
He can't forget again, either way.
You walk to the tomb and...
Going to do anything in particular here or what?
If whatever is inside is in need of opening, he'll do what he can to help. Otherwise just watch and wait and see what happens.
EDIT: I guess he'd do a Knowledge check if he could on anything here but I have a feeling it's pretty outside of his realm of expertise at all.
The tomb's closed, are you going to try and open that then?
Oh, sorry, I misinterpreted "starting to give way."
Yes, he's going to try and open it.
You touch the tomb door. Immediately the light explodes into full radiance again and you are knocked back. You blink your eyes clear and you see that the door to the tomb is gone. A figure is emerging, stumbling out from it.
"Where...am I? What happened?" You know that voice. Memories slam into you. That voice as your wounds are healed, or when she's talking and laughing with all of you.
Moore blinks, then blinks again.
"...What's the last thing you remember?" He starts with.
The light fades entirely. It's Jetina. Her armor, her weapon. A faint look of confusion is on her face, "I remember.... I remember.... Light." Jetina finally says.
As you talk, the trumpet archon from above descends down nearby.
"It's a really long story, but you're... uh... not there, anymore." Moore explains. "You're currently in Mercuria, the second layer of Mount Celestia." He says.
He takes a breath.
He takes another breath.
He flies over and grabs onto her arm. "I... I'm really glad to see you again." He says.
Jetina watches you with a wary look, "...wait. I know you, don't I. You're....you're...I know you, I know that, but I can't remember who you are."
"You know this one, servant of Erathaol?" The trumpet archon approaches.
"...We agreed to forget something in order to come back, didn't we?" Moore asks as he turns to look at the trumpet archon. "Yes, I know her." He turns back and smiles at Jetina. "I'm Moore."
"Moore! That's it!" Jetina smiles, "That's your name."
"Ah," The archon merely steps back then, "Does the Seer have plans here I should be made aware of? I was going to guide Jetina to her place."
"...There were plans for me, apparently." Moore says. "I'd... be surprised if there weren't for her too, but... I don't want to speak out of turn."
He looks up in the air, as if he's expecting to the find the answer there. "I'm guessing I'm not going to be allowed to just take her back with me." He says.
A gasp and then the trumpet archon kneels.
"Peace," Erathaol says, his voice a gentle balm on your spirit. He appears next to you as Jetina gasps, jaw hanging open. His presence is terrible and overwhelming, far too much to endure. You feel - !!!!
"Be not afraid," Erathaol murmurs, and that presence leaves you. "You have done well and have learned to listen, have you not?"
"I think it was when I was looking into Cantasa Alexandria." Moore says as he slowly takes in a breath and then lets out out. "There was something in Aurora, something that... ..." He takes a breath. "I won't forget again. I think it's... my determination." He says, quietly. "It... ...It helps me see through it. Hear it. ...I am admittedly still not sure what 'it' is, though..."
He blinks, then then bows deeply. "I still feel as if I do not treat You with the proper decorum." He admits, his head bowed.
Full disclosure, I totally typed 'Cantana Alexadria' the first time...
Cantasa flows better than Cantana, at least to me.
"I am but a humble servant," Erathaol demurs, turning his attention to Jetina. "Be not afraid of me. Jetina Jerara, a destiny awaits you in Celestia, should you want it. A destiny awaits you with Moore, should you want it."
"Are you...are you...." Jetina says, then her eyes widen. "What is his name? Why can't I remember it?" She reaches for her chest, where her holy symbol should be, but it is not there.
"Do not worry. What was there was merely a shade of the truth, an angle of an angle." Erathaol says. "You will be instructed in the divine truths and guided to whom your soul yearns to serve."
"Spending time here helped me a lot when I was still unsure of what I was supposed to be doing." Moore says. "I'm sure when you find the wisdom you need to help you, you'll find your way back to me, should you wish it."
He smiles and reaches up to wipe something out of his eye. "I know it's a lot to take in, you're going to have to spend a lot of time recovering what you can't see, but I know you're strong enough to do it. You're safe here, and there's a light here that you can see that won't blind you again." He clears his throat -- something must've gotten caught in it, how odd.
"I promise, no matter where you are, if you need me, I can come find you." Moore says with a smile. "So don't be afraid if you want to stay here."
Make a Charisma check here.

"I don't know, but..." Jetina looks down. "I know that I should go with you, Moore. It feels right, like I've done it before. I don't know much of what's going on, but I know you're my friend. There's a destiny for me if I go with you."
"There is," Erathaol says, "Is that your choice?"
"I....yeah, it is," Jetina says, looking up momentarily to Erathaol's gaze, before looking away with a gasp.
He smiles and nods. "Why am I to challenge that? Oh, it's probably a little soon to hear this, but I think it might put your mind at ease: They all made it out."
He turns and looks to Erathaol. "There are still a lot of questions I have about all of this... but, if You would answer one for me, I would appreciate it." He says as he takes a deep breath and closes his eyes, as if preparing himself for something.
"27's power doesn't come from Ygorl, right?" He asks.
"That...yeah, that does make me feel better. I don't even know why," Jetina says, voice shaking a bit.
"27 claims to be a Herald of Ygorl," Erathaol replies, "This is known to me. The slaad are ever chaotic and ever changing, so the truth is difficult to ascertain. He sees things in ways other creatures do not."
"Oh, this day is going to be all sorts of fun, I can already tell." He takes a breath and then bows respectfully. "Thank you. For giving me the courage to see."
"See with wisdom," Erathaol commands - a Command, authority and power behind it. You feel momentarily faint. When it passes, he continues to speak. "Jetina has what she needs within her mind now," Erathaol says, and in a wink, you're back in front of Aurora.
"Woah..." Jetina looks up, staring. "Remind me of...I can't remember." she finishes lamely.
He blinks, takes a breath, and... ah, they're back.
Huh, does that mean that the person he met when he woke up for the first time was... ...
He shakes his head and clears his throat.
"Don't get too hung up on it." Moore says with a smile. "Trust me, you're going to feel like there's a huge gap in your memory for a while... it'll start coming back, though. I'll be here to support you, so don't worry about it."
He clears his throat and gestures at Aurora proper. "Welcome to Aurora. This is a.. uh... jeez, there's so much to explain about it... well, let's get started."
I'm fine to handwave his explanations of the basic functions.
That's fine, Jetina mostly wants to lie down since she has stuff in her head from Erathaol to sort through. Let me briefly pause you pending something that's about to happen.
