Title: The next Transformers series...
Post by: Shuten on October 25, 2004, 08:38:37 PM
is going to be animated by Gonzo and will almost inevitably suck in comparison to the original. Grr... GIVE ME BACK THE ORIGINAL!!! >_<

Seriously though it will be called Galaxy Force in Japan and Cybertron in the US. Be amazed at the creativity displayed in the naming. -_-

Anyways what do you all think?

Oh and if it turns out to actually be good I will happily eat my words.

Sincerely,
Shuten

I think your guess is pretty accurate.  Has Gonzo made one series they haven't fucked up yet?

Actually I'm more worried about Transformers own track record of late than how Gonzo is going to handle it since they're mainly going to be handling the animation which is the one area Gonzo doesn't seem to be half bad in.

I dunno.  My recollection of Gonzo series is they start real pretty and then they get awfully ugly at points.

Gonzo did Vandread. >_> It is generally agreed both Vandreads are pretty cool.

They also did Full Metal Panic. This is less universally agreed upon, but I liked it. ^_^

As for the rest...yeah, they ain't so hot.

I actually thought that Vandread was okay.  But then.  I always thought it was cheezy, so wasn't disapointed by certain plot elements.  FMP was good, with (I feel) the SUDDEN JARRING CHANGE OF GENRE.

I mean, it was a comedy.  I watched three successive episodes, asking myself, "Where is the funny?"  And then the ending ... was actually pretty good considering the annoyance leading up to it.  Fummofu or however that's spelled was amusing, at least.

IMO, Vandread was one of Gonzo's better series, even with the annoyingly contrived end. This really doesn't say much about Gonzo's other anime.

I thought their best series was Last Exile since for the most part it seemed to have a good plot and the world was absolutely beautiful. And even that one could've been far better if it lasted 39 eps since it felt like they were cramming in too much information by the end.

Like Shuten, I don't have much hope for this series. At least someone's been subbing the old Headmasters and Masterforce series....

I'm not sure if Fumoffu was by Gonzo. Still need to see both FMP series.

Kyoto Animation was responsible for the animation of 'Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu'. Gonzo was responsible for the original series.

Gonzo's Full Metal Panic (http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,710,zbbfjn,full_metal_pani.html)

Kyoto Animation's Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu (http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,1252,qaftlx,full_metal_pani.html)

In fact I believe the reason you didn't see the mechs used in the original series appear in 'Fumoffu?' was specifically because Gonzo owned the rights to the mechanical designs and from what I remember they wouldn't allow their use.

Oh and let me be the first, if no one else has gotten to it yet, to invite you to become a member of Soulriders. We don't bite... much. ^^
