The dawning sun slowly began to rise over the horizon, shedding it's warm light over Cinqville...
...And so Jade made her way home and had to deal with a new concern: how to explain this to her folks?
Dracos
Jade reached her house and stopped. Should she tell the truth? The alien factory may sound too fantastic to believe, but she had to tell someone about it. If that continued things would get alot worse. But her dad would probably ground her for lying.
She could tell him the truth up until the alien factory. She and Steve went up to the mountain, were knocked unconcious by someone up there, and when they woke up it was late. Then she fell into a hole. Yes. That'd be the best course. And she could tell the police about the aliens later. And if her dad didn't believe her... who cares, she needed sleep.
She gulped and knocked wearily on the door. "Dad?"
No one answered the door...
Dracos
Jade stopped. "He's not home... or... asleep." she tried opening the door herself.
Well, she didn't have her key...but she remembered where the spare was.
A few minutes later she was inside... where she found her dad snoring on the couch.
Dracos
Jade sighed in relief. Asleep. She could compose what she was going to say better, what with more time.
But for now, she needed a shower. So she went to take one.
A lone shower wouldn't get that smell out.
A few hours later, a very exhausted Jade collapsed.
It was evening when she next stirred.
Dracos
Jade awoke, mildly refreshed but still exhausted. She waded through her mess of a room and went into the den to see if her father was awake yet.
Her father had already left for work.
Dracos
Jade left the house, then. Someone had to be notified of the threat. She headed out to the police station.
Jade arrived at the police station without trouble, getting inside through the open doors. The station was kind of busy, as always.
Dracos
Jade went up to the receptionist. "I need to report something. The fate of Cinqville and the world depends on it!"
The secretary blinked at the young girl. "Well, I guess I could let you speak to officer Jinkle."
Dracos
Jade thanked the lady and went to Officer Jinkle's office.
Officer Jinkles sat behind his desk. He was a pudgy man, but strong. Encroached well in his office, he was the king of this room.
"So...you had something to say?"
Dracos
She quickly told the officer about the alien factory inside the Evermount, not pausing to let him get a word in.
"An...alien factory. With weird colored sludge monsters, laser bearing robots, and tentacled horrors? Right...and what were you doing out there, miss?"
Dracos
"See, Steve and I were out exploring, some stuff happened, long story short it was nightfall and I fell into a hole that led to the factory," she said without skipping a beat. It dawned on her to tell the officer about the mugging, but the fate of the world was more important than a few dollars and a belt.
"Woah, Woah, Woah, kid. Steve? Who's that? And what stuff happened? And where?"
Dracos
"Steve's my friend, he lives..." she told the officer Steve's address. "He can vouch for the events up until the time he left. Anyway..." she told the officer about going up on the Evermount, meeting Kriss, about the sandwiches and the effects they produced, about waking up with nothing but her clothes and a hangover, then about Steve running home, then the falling in the hole. "And that's when I came upon the factory."
The officers attitude changed complete, him stopping recording on paper. "Ah...yeees... We'll get in touch with you miss."
Dracos
Jade paused. What the heck made him change his tone so suddenly? She thanked the officer and left the police station. She had told someone about the alien factory, and now she could sleep. She headed home.
Her stomach reminded her of something probably a little more important than sleep...
Getting food.
Dracos
Jade clenched her stomach. No money to buy food, too lazy to fix food. Solution? Hit Steve's family up for dinner. She made her way to his house.
She arrived at Steve's house.
Dracos
She knocked on the door. "Anybody home?"
Steve's mother came out with a frown. "Steve can't play tonight, Jade. He's grounded."
Dracos
"Ah... well.. Um. Have you guys eaten dinner yet?" Steve may have been grounded, but she could still try.
"Does your father know where you are Jade?" Steve's mother asked.
Dracos
"Erm. I think so. He left for work while I was napping, so..." she grinned at Steve's mom, still hoping to bum some food off of Steve's folks.
"Well, come in. But I'm giving your father a call."
Dracos
"Thank you, ma'am." She entered the house. She didn't feel too worried. Her dad probably didn't notice she was gone, with him sleeping during the day and being at work at night.
Well, she hoped, anyway. But right now food was more important. Especially food that wasn't hers.
Burgers were the night's fare and much joy was had by all.
Later, Jade's father's car pulled into the driveway, beeping for Jade to head out.
Dracos
Jade thanked Steve's family for the food, and headed out. If she was in trouble, she tried to not think about it. Besides, she more than likely wasn't. She hadn't heard anything about a grounding from her father, so she'll just try the ignorance is an excuse angle.
"Where've you been young lady?" Her father asked as they drove home.
Dracos
Jade scratched her neck, and told him about her experience up until getting mugged by Kriss and not waking up until the middle of the night. She didn't tell him about the aliens... just yet. Better to gauge how much trouble she's in or not in first.
"Jade you need to be more careful. You could've gotten hurt. I'm grounding you for the weekend for that."
Dracos
Jade opened her mouth to protest, before remembering that it was Sunday evening, the weekend was almost over. She didn't bother to question to see if he meant the next weekend, because ignorance can be bliss.
"All right... sorry," was all she said.
The rest of the drive home was quiet...
The next day, the sun rose over Cinqville. Schooltime?
Or skiptime?
Dracos
Jade got dressed and ready, walking out the door, supposedly going to school. She went over her schedule in her head. Grammar, Math, Science, and.. Oh, who was she kidding? She wasn't going to school.
She slowly walked, not to school, not to anywhere, trying to think of something to do.
She found herself in the city park, always a whirlpool of activity, butterflies, and dogs catching frizbees.
Dracos
Jade breathed in. Nice air. Maybe she'll find something today that doesn't involve aliens. She began to roam about the park, throwing rocks at squirrels, birds, and other small animals as she did so.
She encountered a chicken.
It did not cross the road.
It did not find anything on the other side.
It stood, boldly one might say, in her way.

It did not cross the road.

It stood, boldly one might say, in her way.
Dracos
Huh. That's odd.
She picked up a rock and threw it at its general direction to scare it off. "Go on, shoo."
Dup Dup Dup...
The chicken squawked angrily at her, dodging the rock.
Dracos
Humph. She decided to just walk around it.
The bird continues squaking angrily at her for throwing a rock at it.
Dracos
Jade stops and smirks, an evil little idea running through her head. She grabbed another small stone in her hand, pocketed it, then got her lunch from her backpack. She tore off a piece of bread from her non-potoholic sandwich, put the lunch up, and put the rock and bread in the same hand.
"Here, you damn animal, you want bread?" She extended the bread to the bird, then let go of the rock that was in the same hand once it was over the chicken.
the chicken was clunked in the head, letting out a terrifying screech as it ran away.
A series of clucks sounding behind Jade.
Dracos
Jade whirled around. Friends, eh?
Four chickens clucked in warning at Jade.
Dracos
Jade picked up another rock, and threw it at the chickens, taunting them.
The chickens clucked angrily...scattering and coming at her, pecking angrily.
Ow, that hurt!
Dracos
Jade kicked at the chickens, running to the nearest large, study tree as soon as her legs were free to run. When she reached the tree, she began to climb it. (OOC: Assuming she does reach the tree)
The tree was quickly surrounded by chickens. There must've been 30-40 of them. Crazy. They circled around the tree like a pack of wolves.
Dracos
"Well this certainly is strange," she muttered perched on the branch. "Since when did food become dangerous?" She really didn't want to spend all day up in a tree. Lighting the chickens on fire may send them packing. Or summon more. As she thought about what to do, she looked around to see if anyone was seeing this.
A few little kids watched a bit confused, but not willing to brave the chickens for her.
Dracos
Little kids, and nobody else. Good, nobody will believe them if they told anyone.
And so she tried to light the chickens on fire. With her mind. Hopefully it wouldn't also catch the tree on fire.
A blast of fire briefly scattered the angry chickens...
A single squawk stopped them. It was the chicken from earlier, a cut on the side of his head from the rock and a little general cap on his head, two dozen chickens behind him.

A number of chickens rang out, beating skillfully on tiny snare drums as the lead chicken gestured forward.

The lead chicken adjusted his cap, clucking noisily, chickens nodding along and then beginning to form a pillar of chickens.

Dozens of others pecked angrily at the bottom of the tree, causing it to quiver as the pillar slowly grew, chicken after chicken hopping on top of each other.

o/~Who will be strong and stand with me?o/~
o/~Up the tree, is there a girl you'd like to peck?o/~
The pillar was getting quite high as she could see the top chicken in it. A big angry one. Who promptly started pecking her as he got in range. Ow, that hurt! The chickens below clucked together in victory.

The tree swayed somewhat dangerously now as the chicken sqwacked and kept pecking.
Dracos
Jade was really too bewildered to do anything but push up against the trunk and hold onto the nearest branches tightly as the tree swayed back and forth due to the pecking. She looked down at the ground once more. If she had to, could she jump down from where she was?
Yeah, but her legs would be angry at her in the morning.
Dracos
Crap. No escaping. Time to solve all her problems through violence!
She kicked at the chicken to attempt to knock it off the tree, then tried to light the center of the pillar of chickens on fire. Wouldn't stop the swaying but it'd solve part of the problem.
Mmm...well, the pillar quickly and angrily recovered, but by the smell of things, there'd be some nice roast chickens down there.
Dracos
Jade wiped the sweat from her forehead and during this breif interlude, and slowly began to climb down the tree, at least to the point where she could easily jump down. Damn, where did all those chickens come from?
The chicken general clucked loudly as several of the chickens promptly started pecking her.
Dracos
And jade moves to hitchhiking...
