Title: Lockpickery
Post by: Rezantis on January 03, 2005, 09:09:25 PM
A big note for everyone: Your resident rogues, Kiska and Kirika, can both -pick the locks on those lockboxes you find-.  Some people weren't aware. :)

I'm not sure where Kirika's lockpicking skill is at, but Kiska can pick normal Steel lockboxes and anything Iron or Bronze.

A future note for any rogues looking to practice lockpicking:

(A) Picking the locks at the mill you go to for the level 16 quest is an excellent way to skill yourself up to 100, with patience.  Beyond that it just gets maddening.

(B) Once you're level 30 or so, climb Klaven's tower and kill him.  Then you get several minutes alone with a difficult chest.  Spending a while there is a good way to practice your locking as well, but be warned the spot tends to be in frequent use.  I ran into two people last night (and this was around 2am or so PST) with the same idea I did, I wouldn't want to try it during primetime . . . although it will probably be better out of holiday season.

Just be warned, Klaven is a lot harder than a level 24 elite should be; he hits for well over a hundred damage and has few thousand or so hitpoints.

Actually, silver keys are more effective skill-gain recipes at around 100-115 blacksmithing, and I think a bit beyond.  They need less silver than many recipes....  Not sure about gold. :/

Oh, that reminds me. I have a locked box I got while fishing that I would like to share with someone who has lock picking.
