This is just a random idea I came up with on the spot and am now throwing out for your debating pleasure.
Daily "council" meetings will be held on AOL Instant Messenger. For attending the council, each player will receive four(4) points for participation. If a player misses a council meeting, he or she would lose two(2) points. Some such attendance failures might be unavoidable, but that's just the way it goes, eh?
The players of Nomic! should meet online at 12pm (Pacific Time) each day. This time will be used to debate the current topic or topics at hand in Nomic!
Note: Some things that could easily be changed are: The specific instant messenger, the number of points gained or lost, and the time at which the meetings are held.
nah, we have too many time zones we're covering to manage this.
I'd say stick with your old proposal.
I'd love some group debates (besides the fact that, much like congress, no one seems to change their mind). But forcing such things would not be easy.
Why not set aside a permanent chat room? I'm most active (where nomic is concerned) from 6-10 pm pacific and even then I'm available only 3-4 days a week. Personally I like the way debate is set up now in forums as it spaces arguments out and forces them to be concise and well thought out. If we wanted to do some discussion in the Game Discussion forums I'd be for that as well.
Wow, yeah that's not going to work. I like the idea of regularish meetings, but time zones, and the fact that no one's schedule is exactly the same every day... :D I'd much rather debate were carried out in the discussion forum. (That's what it's there for, no?)
So it would be cool if there were regular chat times set up, a come whenever you can sort of deal, but I would be decidedly against anything mandatory or point-deducting.
12pm pacific time = 6am my time.
kthxlolbye
This doesn't even require a rule. We can set up a chatroom and stuff in five seconds, and discuss stuff there if we want to.
Mandatory point editations are retarded. With our player volume, there will be practically no times where everyone can fit in. :/
Figured.
I don't have time to do anything else. Nobody wants to pass my proposals. Next person's turn?
Yeah, we'd never get a convenient time for everyone. Several of our players are Australia, too, so . . .
