An odd series, this silly little Gundam Seed Destiny. I recall looking forward to this series as news of a sequel became more than interweb rumor.
I had thought that the sequel would have Kira and company operating more in the background and in support in an odd Char and Amuro in Zeta Gundam, sort of way. Which I think could've worked.
Granted, a lot of my wanting to see a 2nd series had to do with wanting to see Lacus again, but hey, there's giant robo in them there hills, and all that, so I figured it couldn't be ALL bad.
And I was right! It's only 85% bad!
Bah! >_<
There's not enough Pink Princess action to outweigh the Shinn "I KILL YOU!!!!1!! Oh... maybe not" Asuka suckness that is ejaculated all over the series.
I find his character to be one of the single most annoying Gundam character I've come across and I dislike him almost as much as Gundam G, which is saying a lot since I tend to be Swiss neutral on a lot of things. He's an egotistical, selfish, crybaby with a sister hangup that I wish would get stepped on by his own mech running on auto-pilot.
Sheesh.
He weeps over his sister a TON in the series. To the extent that he's carrying her pink cellphone around and plays the away message with her voice on it during the low times for him. I don't think I'd feel as creeped out by that if I ever saw him crying over the loss of his mom and dad, which he doesn't really do in the series.
Another thing that bugged me about him was how high and mighty he'd act towards everyone else just because his parents and sister died in the previous series' conflict.
I mean, sure, it's tragic and all that jazz, but I want to ask him, "Do you think you're the ONLY person who's ever lost loved ones in a war?" Gah. Get off your high horse, Shinn, before you break something from the fall.
Then the whole friggin mess with the lame Extended trio led by the undead, amnesiac Mwu has me lukewarm on the whole rumor of a third Seed series in the works.
Don't even get me started on the whole Destroy(ed) Gundam mess. They pimp it out to be something big and bad, like Psycho Gundam, yet... er... grrr.... I'll stop now before I have a conniption.
Feh. -_-
You know what they say, plushie. "Incest is best, put your sister to the test." :D
And he obviously put his sister to the test quite a few times :D
Personally at this point the main reason I'm still watching is because of Meyrin Hawke. Yep I have no qualms admitting that I can keep watching a series if I can find someone to latch on to. A series has to be unbelievably bad for me not to stick with it if there's a character I really like. ^^;
Oh and Dulandil kicks ass too. Although his naming abilities leave much to be desired... I mean 'Destiny' Plan? Cheesy doesn't even begin to describe that name. o_O;
Sincerely,
Shuten

Why do you like Meyrin out of all the girls? Out of curiosity.
I kind of wish they had introduced Shiho instead of give her bit parts, personally.

I keep spelling it as "Durandall" then mentally blame Brian for all the evil going on in that series.
Aside from the cheese name for his master plan killing lactose intolerant folk left and right, I found his character rather unfulfilled. As if they had grandiose plans for him coming across as character who makes you say "woah" instead of saying "ugh".
I mean, come on, Durandall is Char! The Red Comet, dang it! He needs to be more devious in a cool manner. >_>
Or something. <_<

I like her because she's cute, has a great voice actress, and she seems to have a good head on her shoulders. She's a bit impulsive but that seems to be a part of the Hawke Sisters personalities. However she's nowhere near as bad as Lunamaria "Let's annoy the obviously upset superior! That'll work wonders!" Hawke.
Meyrin also strikes me as a girl with a very good heart who's willing to help others without a second thought. That in my opinion is a truly admirable thing. Besides anyone who thinks Athrun would've been able to make it as far as he did without her assistance is truly fooling themselves.

She's an MSV character. Be glad she appeared at all.

I'm not that familiar with Char myself. I prefer to judge characters on their own merits rather than compare them to others. On his own merits I think he's a pretty decent villian. Certainly not the best but I think he gets the job done for a decidedly poor series otherwise.
