Title: Timing!
Post by: Ebiris on August 09, 2006, 05:14:09 PM
Please post what time suits you for game start on Sundays.

I will be around from around midday GMT onwards, which is probably earlier than most of you except Corwin and Rat, so what time suits everyone to get together for this?

(please post in GMT!)

Assuming your current time is GMT, starting between 3:15-3:30pm GMT would be ideal for me, as would past it. 3:00pm and earlier is also doable for me, just terribly inconvenient.

Midday GMT is about 7 am my time.

As I recall, below 2 pm GMT doesn't cut too well.  2:30 GMT would probably be a pretty idea start time.

Seconded. That's 930 AM EST, right?

As far as I can tell yes.  9:30 am EST was my intent anyhow.

That's fine for me. I can swing earlier if really needed, once my health improves. Hopefully.

On sundays, I can be around any time I need to be.

2:30 GMT is pretty lame for me. I must remind you all that DST is on the horizon, which only makes it lamer (it's 12:30 *am* when not during DST, and will magically leap to 2:30 am during it. So much hate for October.)

I could make it until DST starts, essentially, and then I'll rant about starting earlier. You've all played the timing game with me before, apologies in advance. >_>

OTOH, there's a slim chance I'll get a comp of my own, in my room, and then I won't need to share it and be able to play until the wee hours of the morning. It's not that I hate staying up late! Far from it! It's the family thing...

Edit: I also hate people who show up late, it's pretty obvious why. Sadly, my hate probably isn't enough to convince those who might do so to show up on time, so can we figure out a method to deal with that now?

Okay. Game start is set for 3pm GMT, for now. This will almost certainly change when DST gives Rat a (deserved or not) assraping. Unless he gets a computer of his own, that is.

Also, if you're not here at game start, you'll be NPC'd until they show up. You can designate someone to NPC you, or I'll do it. Whichever suits.

There's an off chance I may not make this Sunday, as I have a sleep lab coming up. I'll update it when details become available. Shitty timing.

I will be here this sunday but my roommates have already indicated  they intend to be troublesome towards session end.  Hopefully any house meetings will be postponed to the evening like I demanded but with five folks, you never know.

I forgot to post, I apologize.

This weekend is a complete mess. x-x  I may be there.  I may be there for some of the time.  I may be in new york.  I have no idea.  It's messy.  I'd like to do better, but business trumps this and possibly ailing grandmother trumps business. x-x

Hopefully I'll be there the whole time next week.  I'm sort of struggling to balance a grad school program that's very obsessed with devouring every spare moment of time.

Okay, Drac. Iddy's also expressed doubt as to making it this Sunday, so we'll see what we can manage...

In the interests of not letting the other players down, gaming will still go ahead. Again I remind people who won't be around to designate someone to NPC them so I'll feel less guilty if they die.

I can try running someone as an NPC if you like, but no guarantees and I'd need a day to brush up on the character.

Okay, on reflection, I think I've been a bit too strict about this. While it is unfair to the other players who are around, I just don't like the idea of someone getting killed while being NPC'd. Plus it does put a burden on those of us here to have to play the missing characters.

Therefore if two people are absent, the session will be postponed.

I know real life can't be legislated against, but do try to make sessions - this sort of thing could kill the game if it happens often enough, but then again, so could players leaving because their character got killed while they weren't playing.

Clocks go back here in the UK on Sunday This means if your own clock hasn't changed, then the game start is one hour later.

From what I understand, DST is hitting most of us this weekend anyway, so disruption should be minimal.

Edit: On request from Rat, however, I want to know if people are able to accomodate starting an hour earlier. This'd make it 2pm - 6pm GMT.

I'm usually around an hour earlier, but my schedule is so wacky as it stands.

---

And the sunday that I thought was today was in fact the eleventh.  Which isn't a sunday.  I'll have to talk with the person in charge.  yay. x-x

Anyhow, hopefully this'll be  a false call and I'll be there  all that sunday, but just in case.

Okay, game on.

As for the timing discussion of earlier, I think what I'll do is keep the start time at 3pm GMT (since Corwin really can't be any earlier) but have the game end an hour earlier at 6pm GMT so that Rat can actually sleep.

Today's session is cancelled owing to my connection being utter shit and crapping out approximately every 5 seconds.

Sorry, guys, but there's no way I can run a game under those conditions, and the constant cycle of disconnect/reconnect is breaking my soul, so I'm just writing today off.

Game is tentatively back on, since things appear to have stabilised.
