Like Corwin, I'll be trying to run a first time game. This game will be set just following the events of Slayers Next and may ignore some events from Try as the game progresses.
Also, as I'm not certain of the mechanics by which the game will run yet, I'm not presenting you with a storyline, but would like to hear of any interested parties in playing.
Mazoku, Dragons, and Luna are NPCs but feel free to pick anyone else or create a new character. Some available characters: Amelia, Zangulus, Phil, Naga, Sylphiel, and Martina.
Corwin, Ebiris and Ranma007 have already expressed interest, respectively as Lina, Gourry, and Ame...err, Zelgadis. >_>
I'm currently hunting for some RPG guidebook for the Slayers world to try and run by a dice-based system. If you have a pdf, link, or some such to one, please share. Otherwise, I'll just try a diceless system.
Game will be forum-based and IRC gameplay will occur only if I can find a guidebook. I'll probably start it in 2-4 weeks, once I'm settled in school and have decided on mechanics and basic plot.
Sounds interesting. I'm game, though I need to talk to you over IRC.
I'll work on a character for this, Oyaji-houshi!
*nods to Panda* Already talked to you in IRC. Just figure out if you want Martina or not as per Corwin's joking (or seriousness, he could have been serious, to be fair).
KP-fossil, go for it.
Player slots are full, baring anybody dropping out. Players are:
Corwin - Lina Inverse
Ranma007 - Zelgadis Graywords
Ebiris - Gourry Gabriev
Rat - Zangalus
Panda - unknown, but possible Martina
KP - original
Asrana - original
Bean - original
EDIT: Okay, I've found a better BESM style Slayers file now (fan made), using references to stuff from other BESM books. I'll be organizing all that info into some text (or html if I have time) chapters for people to look at, as the files are a bit disorganized and assumes the reader has certain BESM books (thankfully, the Sailor Moon book is one of 'em).
From that, we'll just experiment on gameplay, and make changes as needed (feel free to point out why something doesn't make sense or should be added before the game too).
I'll try to have this all ready by next sunday, though I might earlier if I luck out and don't have much to worry about from the first week of classes.
Wha? No Amelia? ;_;
nobody wanted her ^_^;
8 players is more than enough to handle for a beginner GM, so I thought I'd stop there. She will be around as an NPC, though I'm not sure she'll be a major one. We'll see how that turns out.
Hum. And if we're using a system, I might actually make an original character. Not sure, I'll get back to you after I've seen the rulebook. >_>
I'm more shocked at the lack of Naga!
I'd be tempted to play her if I wasn't commited to being Jellyfish Brains... Playing as Gourry gives me license to ask all kinds of dumb questions and it's in character!
Playing Naga is more dangerous than playing Gourry. >_>
Dangerous to who, though? ^^
... to Naga.
Oi, Merc. Just so you know, there's no point dividing up attributes and stats (body/stat/mind vs Combat Focus or whatever) 'cos of the Damn Healthy, Strong Soul, and whatever the mind ability is. They effectively cancel each other out, 'cos you also have the defects that reduce stats for them, too. >_>
Effectively, you have 53 points to distribute between stats and attributes. >_> (35+18 = 53)
That's 1st edition, Rat. =/
In 2nd Ed BESM, those attributes don't exist.
*waits for Merc to decide if we can use attributes from 1st or if we stick to 2nd*
It works out the same, in theory. >_>
It does, which is probably why they were removed in 2nd edition. Still, just for the sake of going with something I'm used to, I stated it with the 1st edition rules. You don't have to stick with a total of 18 stat points, if you want to sacrifice stats with defects, feel free, and the opposite, raising them with your attribute points, also holds true. In other words, don't worry so much about it and just organize the points you have as you want =p
If possible, please get me your character sheets by next weekend (Sept 13), though preferably this weekend. I'll start the game Sept 13. If I don't have sheets, I'll just start off Cor, Eb and Rat, who're the only ones who've given me sheets so far. Thanks.
Start us off anyway! Those slow people can catch up. ^^
*Whaps 'Rat with a largish brick* ^_^
Bah, work your own herd, Ratty! Ye folks too slow to keep up with the GM! Where's your party organization?
Dracos
*hands Bean another brick*
Rat? Party organization? Drac, you must be mistaken about what character Rat is playing, or who the Rat is. ^_^
'Sides, give us a deadline and we work fast enough, Rat. =P
*finished last night*
He's not talking about Party Organization with regard to me in particular, May. I think. >_>
Not that I couldn't do a positively awesome job. Yeah. I mean, y'need your grunts, then the mages, then the token cool guy who solves all the problems- that's me.
*stabs Bean*.
Merc, I'm just going to play Amelia. I'll use the example character sheet.
SCORE
That means Lina won't have Amelia's Visa anymore... we'll just have to bully the princess into buying stuff for us, then.
Bringing the total up to 5 girls, 3 guys.
Curses, and here I was hoping for equality. @_@
Lina stole it fair and square.
/me glances over the Amelia episode in his third volume of Slayers Special.
"What have I gotten myself into?" O_O
Playing the little annoying brat that doesn't know when not to use spells? ^_^
Dracos
Don't talk trash about my flunky, Drac! RAWR!
Okay, I now have the sheets of everyone but KP, who's been off with RL difficulties lately, so I haven't bothered him about it.
----
Gourry and Amelia's sheets are perfectly fine.
Cor: your HP should be 80, not 70. Also, your attributes don't add up. They add up to 67, but they should add up to 66, like the sheet says. You need to remove one point from somewhere or give me a nice background history for Lina so I can give you background points.
R7: you have 4 leftover skill points. It's not really a problem, but thought I'd mention it in case you wanted them somewhere.
Rat: Kyle's attributes add up to 56, but you only have 55 points. You also have 6 leftover skill points you can spend somewhere if you want.
Asrana/Bean: On your characters, you both use 2 extra spell points than you should have, you need to remove 2 spell points from somewhere in there or get more spell points.
Asrana, you also have 2 extra attribute points free to apply if you wish to.
---
Rat, Asrana and Bean all get 2 background points, and can apply to fix whatever problems I mentioned above, or save for later and fix those problems somehow else.
As I mentioned before, game starts today (in 2-3 hours, around 7-8pm central). Make sure to post at least once every 3-days unless you've given me advance warning that you can't post, or obviously, if I've paused the game.
