Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 15, 2004, 02:33:35 AM
Mirallia accompanies you, after a few minutes to wake up.

This time the servant (though, you're starting to think he might actually be a page instead of a normal servant) leads you down into the depths of the keep, instead of up to Lord Kevin's office.

The room you're lead to has a table and chairs, and is lit, but has no windows.

Lord Kevin is seated behind it next to Lammermore and Radagast.  The Lorekeepers Devin and Astryd are nearby (apparently Parthipan had trouble waking up, as he's not present yet).  There is no sign of Lindsey or her vassals.

Ekim is sitting at one end of the table, carrying a cloth-wrapped bundle, about the size and shape of ... a katana?

Radagast calls your attention, first, and gives you a piece of paper, which is encrypted, again.  After decrypting it, you find it reads:WEAREBOREDANDNOWGETTINGASSESOVERTHEREGOINGTOHAVEESKEGATEUSINATTHEENTRANCETOTHEBATTLEFIELD

Shit.  Bjorn's mind races, staring at the message.  Too short notice.  I need to... dammit.  How to make this work?  He crumples the note in his hand, staring blankly at the floor, before nodding to himself.  Planks.  Should be easy to arrange.  Okay.  Need to change the rest of the plans, though.  Looking up, he tries to decide if he can grab Kevin's attention before the meeting starts.

Ginrai walks into the room.  Wordlessly he sits down next to the other lorekeepers.

Dorian enters the room last, and Kevin seems to take him as the last one he was waiting for.  "Okay," Lammermore says, surveying the assembled. "Another day, and another battle.  Currently, thanks to Lorekeeper Devin, we've got some mazelike fortifications before the gate to slow the Dreadmarch as they approach.  We'll use that, and our archers to thin their numbers before they get close to the gate.  I understand you had some other plans, Bjorn?" he asks.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 15, 2004, 02:57:31 AM
Bjorn coughs.  "That is correct, Sir Lammermore.  However, there has been a change in the situation -- a change, I might add, for the better."

He nods at Radagast.  "Master Radagast has just informed me that the storm-runners are marching on the Citadel of the Dreadmarch.  However, they have also sent a good portion of their forces to reinforce us.  Those troops will close in, cloaked by the devices of Wardmaster Mattias, and will uncloak themselves at a signal -- lightning striking from the sky.

"As such, my Lord, I would like to recommend that we adopt the same strategy as we used in the last battle -- to produce an illusion of an Archon, and attempt to draw the general forth.  This will, with any luck, lead the Dreadmarch to underestimate us, thinking us fools for relying on the same trick twice.  Then, once the Dreadmarch has reached Lorekeeper Devin's earthworks, we can give the signal to the storm-runners.  Their flanking attack, combined with a direct assault by our forces through the fortifications, should result in an easy victory.  The other strategies I had developed can be held in reserve for another night."

"Flanking?" Kevin asks, frowning.  "How will they get through the body of the Dreadmarch?  Surely their Loremaster will see this coming."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 15, 2004, 03:05:46 AM
"They are already in place," Bjorn says.   "They are concealed along the edges of the pass, on the level of the earthenworks."  He shrugs slightly.  "I do not claim to know how the Wardmaster has managed this, but he is quite certain that he has bypassed the enemy Loremaster."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 15, 2004, 03:10:49 AM
"Well," Lammermore rumbles.  "I can only hope that an assault on the dark citadel isn't a wasted effort," he says.  "Very well.  Radagast, can the illusion be managed again?"

Radagast glances at Astryd, and nods.  "I'm not certain what effect it will have," he warns, "but we can once again use it."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 15, 2004, 03:12:34 AM
"It will have no effect, in itself," Bjorn says, gravely.  "But, as I said, it will inspire over-confidence -- and that is a weakness."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 15, 2004, 03:15:18 AM
"Very well, then," Kevin says, frowning.  "Is there anything else?  We must coordinate with our storm-rider bretheren."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 15, 2004, 03:18:54 AM
"They will launch their attack when a bolt of lightning strikes the Dreadmarch," Bjorn says.  "I believe Master Parthipan can provide this.  It would be best, as I said, if this signal was provided as the Dreadmarch reached the earthworks, and was thus forced to slow down and disarray their ranks.

"This, in turn, means that we will need to cross the earthenworks ourselves, once the full assault has begun.  As such, we will need planks to bridge the pit traps, and spearmen and archers to clear the passages."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 15, 2004, 03:25:23 AM
"I can dissolve the earthworks more easily than I created them," Devin ventures.  "I'd need only a minute's warning."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 15, 2004, 03:29:34 AM
"The timing will be obvious, I think," Bjorn says.  "When the storm-riders begin their attack, then it is time to being to remove the earthworks."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 15, 2004, 03:31:34 AM
"Consider it done, then," he says, nodding.  "When will Master Parthipan know to throw his lightning bolt?"
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 15, 2004, 03:32:27 AM
"When the front ranks of the Dreadmarch have reached the earthworks," Bjorn replies.

"Well, then we seem to be ready," Devin says, looking at Parthipan expectantly.

And with that, Kevin nods, and everyone is dismissed.

As the other lorekeepers are leaving -- Radagast stays behind -- and Dorian leaves, Ekim climbs to his feet, plodding a few steps closer to Bjorn and extending the cloth-wrapped bundle.  "I have finished crafting your new blade," Ekim rumbles, the slightest hint of pride sounding in his voice.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 15, 2004, 01:30:00 PM
Bjorn, who was making his way over to Kevin with a serious expression on his face, starts slight as Ekim addresses him.  Seeing the proferred katana, he bows deeply.  "Thank you greatly, Lord Ekim.  It will be a priviledge far beyond my due to wield your making against the Dreadmarch."  He pauses, and then with a bit of a shame-faced yet excited schoolboy look about him, he asks shyly, "May I see it?"
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 16, 2004, 03:34:33 PM
"Of course," he replies, holding it forward in both hands carefully, still wrapped in cloth.

Kevin and Lammermore stay behind, curious.  Everyone else except Ginrai and Ekim leave, apparently not having much interest in swords.
Title: Crossfire Sequence

Reverently, Bjorn takes the cloth-wrapped bundle and carefully unwraps it.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 16, 2004, 08:17:58 PM
The bundle of cloth snags on the edge of the blade in the unwrapping process, and parts with the resistance of tissue paper.  What is revealed is exactly what you described to Ekim as a katana -- save, he made it in a single day.

The handle is wrapped in some hide that feals like smoothed shark-skin.  Not metal, so your hands won't freeze from gripping it, and rough enough to make it difficult to accidentally drop the blade.  The length of the blade itself is marked in tiny little dwarven (you think) runes down the back of the blade, and they glitter faintly in the torchlight.

"It looks a frail weapon," Ekim opines, while Lammermore looks at his own crowbar of a blade.  "But it's got strength.  And more, a keen edge.  It knows its own, too, I wager," he adds, gathering a scabbard from the floor and presenting it to you.

The scabbard is shaped for the blade, smoothed wood (but not very smoothed).  The side is engraved with the symbol of Hammar.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 16, 2004, 08:24:48 PM
Bjorn takes the scabbard from Ekim.  He hesitates for a second, prudency warring with training, but, Dammit, just asking for a katana in the first place probably was cover-blowing enough.  I'm not going to break tradition now.

Placing the sword in the scabbard, and then tucking the scabbard into his belt, Bjorn performs the first battojutsu technique he learned -- not a combatative technique, but a purification ritual, the sword cutting a pattern through the air which matches the stylized movements of a priest of the Kashima Grand Shrine.

Returning the sword to its scabbard, Bjorn bows deeply to Ekim.  "Thank you, my Lord," he says, sincerely.  "The weapon is a masterpiece."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 16, 2004, 08:29:12 PM
"May it last as long as your will," he says gravely.

"That's an interesting blade," Lammermore finally says.  "I've never seen its make before ... except for the blades that Sir Breke carries, and this is longer than his."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 16, 2004, 08:34:14 PM
Bjorn shrugs slightly.  "I am not strong enough to wield a greatsword of the like that the storm-riders carry -- and at the same time, I have two hands.  It seems a waste to use only one, as with the sword I normally carry."

His expression deepens, becoming grave.  "Lord Kevin, Sir Lammermore, there is more to the message from the storm-riders than I mentioned during the meeting."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 16, 2004, 08:38:22 PM
"You don't trust the others?" Kevin asks, raising an eyebrow.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 16, 2004, 08:41:23 PM
"I don't know who to trust," Bjorn says, regretfully.  "Had I had my choice, I would have given you this information in private before the meeting.  Unfortunately, the message came quite late -- not until immediately before the meeting, and I thought it better to take precautions, until we know how the Dreadmarch has been obtaining its information."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 16, 2004, 08:42:27 PM
"Probably for the best," Kevin says, nodding.  "What's the plan, then?"
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 16, 2004, 08:49:42 PM
Bjorn steps a little closer, and pitches his voice a little lower.  "The plan is essentially the same -- it is the details which differ.  The storm-riders are not concealed within the pass.  Rather, they will gate in behind the spearhead of the Dreadmarch forces, by the work of Gatemaster Eske.  The Gatemaster will also use that gate to keep the rest of the army from reinforcing the trapped forces."   He grins, coldly.   "They might reinforce their flanks, now, with the details I revealed during the meeting, but the storm-riders will grate them up against the earthenworks, and then we will move out to finish off the job.  Even if we do not catch the general in that first assault, when the Gatemaster allows the barrier to disappear, we will be united with the storm-riders, and in a much stronger tactical position."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 16, 2004, 08:51:33 PM
Kevin nods slowly, and then glances at Ginrai.  "I assume the signal is the same?"

"Yes," Bjorn says simply, if rather inaccurately.
Title: Crossfire Sequence

"Very well, then," Kevin says, nodding.  "It's time to get ready."

With that, he, Lammermore, Ekim, and Radagast rise, and begin moving towards the exit to the room.

Bjorn quickly pulls up the mindboard, and touching the Parthipan-smudge, scrawls, Watch your back.  Immediately letting the mindboard dissipate, he covertly studies the others in the room.
Title: Crossfire Sequence

All that's left in the room is yourself, Parthipan, and Mirallia, who looks as lost as she always does.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 16, 2004, 09:13:34 PM
Bjorn shrugs mentally.  Need to get faster than that, he thinks to himself.

Out loud, he says, "Good luck, Master Parthipan."  Turning to Mirallia, he adds, "We should get ready for our roles tonight.  Shall we be off, then?"

"Certainly," she says.  "Where is sir Breke?"

Bjorn makes a faint face.  "In his room," he says with self-reproach.  "I'm afraid I forgot to collect him before today's meeting.  Shall we go collect him?"

Waiting for agreement, Bjorn makes his way to Breke's apartments.

Not knowing what else to do, Parthipan tags along behind you.

You wend your way through the passages and get back to the first floor.  From there, you manage to retrace your steps from memory to Breke's room.  The door is closed when you get there.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 16, 2004, 09:23:18 PM
Bjorn knocks on the door.  "Sir Breke?"  Without waiting for a response, he cracks the door open.  "It's time."
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 16, 2004, 09:31:52 PM
Breke is waiting at his table in his normal spot, absently polishing one of his blades.  He nods without looking at you, sheathes the blade, and rises.  "Lead the way," he says quietly.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 16, 2004, 09:36:37 PM
Bjorn nods, before remembering, and says, "Certainly."  Turning around, he almost collides with Parthipan, and raises his eyebrow.  "Shouldn't you be preparing in one of the towers, Master Parthipan?"
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 16, 2004, 11:56:49 PM
Parthipan frowns, looking like he wanted to ask you something, but nods, and walks away, presumably towards his fellow lorekeepers.

Breke snorts.  "Got more life in him this time around," the sword-master opines.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 17, 2004, 01:08:23 AM
Bjorn shrugs.  "As long as he has any life at all, he's doing well," he says.

Taking up Breke's chains, he leads him out to the courtyard, to join the preparations.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 17, 2004, 11:03:27 AM
The courtyard is filled -- again -- with soldiers milling around, being ordered into formation by squad leaders.  The initial rush looks like it's going to contain about a thousand men.  The walls are bristling with archers once more, and the lorekeepers are lining their towertops.

As you enter the courtyard, Durant finishes what sounds like a pretty impassioned speech to some strong applause, and then eyes you.  After a second, he heads towards the keep, not waiting to stick around and converse.

Lammermore is wearing the sword he used yesterday again, and Lord Kevin is standing to one side with Radagast and a dozen guards.  The combat medics are prepared to rush in immediately behind the soldiers, from the look of things.

"Feels tense," Breke observes quietly.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 17, 2004, 12:57:07 PM
"Yes," Bjorn replies in the same quiet tone.  "It does, doesn't it?  People starting to realize just what sort of shape the enemy is in."  He sighs.  "Well.  Let's go find out what the plans for us are today."

With that, he makes his way over to Kevin and Lammermore.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 17, 2004, 02:44:12 PM
Lammermore nods at you.  His sword is sheathed, and the point of the scabbard rests on the ground in front of him, his fingers laced together and resting atop the pommel of it.

Kevin is conversing with Radagast, who is speaking in quiet tones and gesturing to one of three birds you see (barely) wheeling about overhead in the darkness.  When you approach, you catch, "...Loremaster Parthipan's seeking did not identify a general yet, and neither have any of my own friends."

Kevin nods tersely, and looks over to you.  "All is nearly in readiness.  We await only the moment of the battle," he says flatly.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 17, 2004, 03:56:39 PM
Bjorn nods soberly.  "You seem concerned, my Lord," he observes.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 17, 2004, 04:01:16 PM
"How could I not be concerned?" he asks dourly.  "I just hope I don't worry overmuch."  He glances at Radagast.  "Is there any other information we can obtain before the moon sets?"

Radagast shakes his head apologetically.  "Nothing I can think of," he says slowly.  "And ... I need to go prepare the illusion for Lammermore."  Turning to Bjorn he asks, "Is there anything else we need to prepare for?"
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 17, 2004, 05:52:48 PM
"Not that I know of," Bjorn replies.  Turning to Lord Kevin, he asks, "Will Sir Breke and I be in the vanguard again, my Lord?"
Title: Crossfire Sequence

"No," Sir Lammermore says, strapping the sheath to the baldrick on his back.  "You'll be with me, today."

Bjorn nods.  "What will you have us do?"

"Help with the general, with any luck," Lammermore says with a sardonic grin.  "You got his attention last time -- I know few with the skill to try what you did there."

Lammermore raises an eyebrow, as the men on the ramparts begin shouting, and the moon descends, vanishing from view.

Bjorn draws his new dwarven-forged katana, takes Breke's chains up in his left hand, and waits for Lammermore's signal.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 22, 2004, 04:41:26 PM
The gates rumble open, revealing the approach before you.

With the light of the Keep's great beacons, the field is illuminated clearly.  The worn craters from Radagast's traps are carved into the field, littered with broken scraps of armor, bits of weapons, and other, less identifiable remnants of your foes.  The archers above you on the wall knock and draw their arrows, and across the field, you see one of the ogres in Dwarven armor.  It steps foward, and raises an axe menacingly ... but at its range -- barely even visible -- it can't be reached by bowshot.

Before any of the Lorekeepers can target it with a spell, the tide of normal dreadmarch orcs and ogres sweeps forward, obscuring the potential general from view.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 22, 2004, 04:43:46 PM
Outwardly composed (or so he hopes), Bjorn internally fingers his mindboard nervously.  The lack of his newly acquired combat senses, and the experience of his other-self in swordplay is... an unnerving situation to be in.

But he waits, and watches, as the Dreadmarch approaches the earthenworks.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 22, 2004, 04:48:44 PM
The archers begin their work as the tide approaches the earthenworks.  The results are mixed, however ... some of the Dreadmarch charges blindly into the traps and walls, but others quickly (and effectively) scale the walls, running across the top of the walls.

The archers quickly bring focus to those enemies, but their number increases, and the traps are only slowing the tide, not stopping it.  Lammermore is already wearing the guize of the Archon at this point.

At about the point where some of the wall-running orcs reach the middle of the traps, a force of Dreadmarch archers takes up a position outside the earthenworks, and starts firing at the archers.  This is quickly surpressed by a writhing splash of violent electricity from the tower you'd presume Ginrai to be on.  This in turn -- again -- summons the General, who appears by jumping onto the earthenworks, and charging along with the rest of those atop the wall.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 22, 2004, 04:51:57 PM
Bjorn does not touch the smudges he needs -- he slams through them, his touch so quick and violent that without meaning to he finds himself staring through the eyes of Philip and Nathan.  His message is brief and simple... NOW!

And then he lets the mindboard vanish, not even pulling it back from the other two first, to let all that his other-self knew about war come back into his mind.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 22, 2004, 05:05:04 PM
At the rear of the battlefield, on the very edge of the invisible line that the Dreadmarch doesn't cross while the moon is in the sky, a gate opens, widening until it's as far across as the entire pass, blocking off Dreadmarch reinforcements.

Storm-riders by the thousands boil through, their battlecries echoing across the Dreadmarch, to the barriers of Stormwall Keep itself, and are then flung back across the battlefield again, returned by archers who redouble their efforts.

"They're coming," Bjorn says, unnecessarily -- except, of course, for Breke.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 22, 2004, 05:08:56 PM
"I can tell," Breke says quietly.

Directly before you and Breke is the gate, through which the storm-wall defenders are charging.  Lammermore gestures for you to follow him, immediately behind the first phalanx.

Bjorn follows Lammermore, still leading Breke.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Brian on May 22, 2004, 05:18:17 PM
Breke is about ready to break free of his fetters and run, but those earthenworks will cause a problem.

The ogre is being pelted with arrows, but just shrugs them off, holding his position in the middle of the earthenworks, and gesturing with his axe, like he's trying to coerce the rest of his army to follow.  Not much of the Dreadmarch is left atop the walls -- the archers are picking them off first, and they've got their hands free with the Storm-riders falling on them from behind.

Lammermore brings out about a thousand men to the area before the earthenworks, and has lances set, but the General doesn't draw any closer, completely ignoring the Archon illusion.
Title: Crossfire Sequence
Post by: Bjorn on May 22, 2004, 05:23:50 PM
Once again, Bjorn can feel the instincts of his other-self coming forth, and he bellows out a challenge to the Dreadmarch general, continuing his charge past the lancers.

Lammermore and Breke follow -- but as you approach the maze of earth, it shifts, and wavers, melting into a smooth, flat, plane.  The general retains his balance, and the other Dreadmarchers in the area vanish beneath the surface of the ground before it settles.

The ogre stands tall, continuing to swing his axe menacingly.[13:28] <@Bjorn> roll 3d6

There's not many orcs on the field to contend with, and those few seem more concerned with the approaching Storm-riders than anything else.  Ahead of you, you can see Phil also charging this ogre, and then he finishes his spell.

A glowing circle of power surrounds the entire field, starting just before the storm-riders, and ending just before the pikemen.  Inside this circle are: Phil, Bjorn, Lammermore, Breke, and the general.  Ahead of you, you can see an arrow (fired by who) bounce off the edge of the field.  Nathan looks distraught, and smashes his glowing blade against it, but to no avail.

<Brian> Okay.
<Brian> The scene is thus:
<Brian> Bjorn, Lammermore, and Breke are all going to reach the General on the same phase, which we'll call phase zero.
<Brian> Dracos won't get there until Phase six.
<Brian> We'll go in dex order.

<Brian> Not that it appears to bother the ogre much.
<Brian> Next is the ogre, who holds his action.
<Brian> Then Bjorn.
<Bjorn> I am going to put two points in OCV, two points in DCV, use two points to boost my strength, then I'm going to try and push my strength, and then, as Hammar is my witness, I'm knocking that goddamn axe out of the Ogre's hands.

<Bjorn> Yes.

<Bjorn> What about pushing my strength?
<Brian> Ah.  Sorry, roll 3d6 for your ego check.
<Bjorn> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=9 ]{9}
<Brian> That gives you an extra five points (1 DC) and costs you an extra 5 END.
<Brian> For every five points of strength you have, roll 1#1d6, and since this is a martial maneuver, add 10 to your STR for calculating that.
<Bjorn> Five points rounding up?
<Brian> Yes.
<Bjorn> roll 7#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 7#1d6 --> [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}
<Bjorn> roll 4#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 4#1d6 --> [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}
<Brian> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}
<Brian> You flip the axe straight out of the general's hands, and over his head.  Your blade makes a sickening crack, and shards of it follow the axe.
<Brian> The general is now disarmed, and blinks in surprise.
<Brian> He uses his held action to rush Bjorn.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Bjorn> Hrm.
<Bjorn> Er.
<Bjorn> Too late?
<Bjorn> Abort to block.
<Brian> Okay.  Go ahead and make your block roll.
<Bjorn> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> Almost....
<Brian> roll 6#3d6
<Brian> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}
<Brian> Take 5 Body and 19 Stun.  This is physical NORMAL damage, so your armor and PD will both apply.
<Brian> Segment two, speed sixes.
<Brian> The ogre attempts a move-by attack on Bjorn, who is over-extended, and can't abort to block.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> He misses.  But he does shove his way past Bjorn, in the direction of his axe.
<Brian> phase 3, speed 4s.  Breke tries a haymaker.
<Brian> phase 4, speed three, Lammermore tries a standard attack.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=14 ]{14}
<Brian> Misses.
<Brian> Ogre acts, and moves on to the axe.
<Brian> Breke's haymaker is lost, because the ogre moves out of range.
<Brian> Segment six, everyone but Lammermore acts.
<Brian> Breke tries to get between the ogre and his axe.
<Brian> And then attack.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=10 ]{10}
<Brian> That's a hit.
<Brian> roll 2d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2d6+1d3 --> [ 2d6=5 1d3=3 ]{8}
<Brian> The ogre grunts, and takes a step back, but doesn't look seriously wounded.  Though, it looks like Breke's blade just completely ignored its armor.
<Brian> Next in dex order is the ogre.
<Brian> He attempts a move through on Breke.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=10 ]{10}
<Brian> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}
<Brian> He shoves Breke aside (though Breke doesn't look hurt, just surprised) and goes for the axe again.
<Brian> At dex 13, Phil may now act.
<Brian> However, it will take a full-move to reach the ogre.
<Dracos> ...;_; so basically I can't do any attacks this turn?
<Brian> Only a move-by or a move-through.
<Dracos> Do I have that haymaker I asked about prepped or no?
<Brian> You can't stack a haymaker with any form of movement.
<Dracos> Ah.
<Dracos> Hmmm
<Brian> Except for teleportation.
<Dracos> If I did a move by, can I get to his axe?
<Brian> You could.
<Brian> But you couldn't really do anything with it until you got another phase.
<Dracos> I'd like to put both points to OCV, have all my sword skill tapped in influence (should but just in case), charge forward pushing my strength for a move-by attack and stop standing ON his axe if possible.
<Brian> Okay.
<Brian> Go ahead and make a roll.
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for hit
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for hit --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> You hit only because Breke already attacked this round.
<Brian> Go ahead and roll your damage.
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for pushing strength
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for pushing strength --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> No extra strength this round.
Dracos charges forward bringing his blade alongside the ogre as he passes, trying to cut the ogre off as he moves for the axe.
<Dracos> roll 2d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 2d6+1d3 --> [ 2d6=5 1d3=2 ]{7}
<Brian> You mark up his armor but good.
<Brian> He grunts.
<Brian> Dex 13, Bjorn recovers an action.
<Brian> Segment 8, speeds 3 and 6.
<Brian> Lammermore goes first.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=10 ]{10}
<Brian> Hits.
<Brian> One time.
<Brian> roll 2d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2d6+1d3 --> [ 2d6=10 1d3=1 ]{11}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=15 ]{15}
<Brian> This time, a small chunk of armor is removed from the ogre's lower leg, and some dark blood trickles out.
<Brian> Ogre acts, and tries a move through on Phil.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Dracos> Can I block?
<Brian> You can abort to block, actually.
<Brian> Keep in mind that since he's charging you, you need to stop HIM, not his attack.
<Brian> Go ahead and roll your block.
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for "swordmastery don't fail me now!'
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for "swordmastery don't fail me now!' --> [ 3d6=14 ]{14}
<Brian> With your OCV up by two, you make the block -- barely.  You slow him down, and he knocks your sword aside, the two of you now grappling.
<Brian> He's trying to move you, and you're trying not to be moved.
Dracos would like to push his strength for being THE GREAT WALL!
<Brian> Go ahead and roll your ego.
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for I'm an arrogant bastard
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for I'm an arrogant bastard --> [ 3d6=6 ]{6}
<Brian> That gives you an extra 15 STR, for an extra 15 END.
<Brian> Now roll 1d6 (x#1d6) for every five points of STR you have.
<Dracos> roll 9#1d6 for THOU SHALT NOT PASS!
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 9#1d6 for THOU SHALT NOT PASS! --> [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}
<Brian> roll 7#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 7#1d6 --> [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}
<Brian> He tries to muscle you out of the way ... but can't ... quite ... get you to move.
<Brian> On the other hand, it's taking everything you have (and then some) to keep this titan in place.
<Brian> Phase nine, speed 4s.
<Brian> Breke goes for another haymaker.
<Brian> Phase 10, speed sixes.
<Brian> The ogre goes, and tries to shove Phil away again.
<Brian> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}
<Brian> Phil, go ahead and roll 6#1d6 to resist.
<Dracos> roll 6#1d6 Brute strength don't fail me now!
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 6#1d6 Brute strength don't fail me now! --> [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}
<Brian> Your resolve refirmed, you keep the ogre from moving.
<Brian> As the ogre is grappling, he's at 1/2 DCV.
<Brian> The phase ends, and Breke's haymaker goes off.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=9 ]{9}
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=15 ]{15}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=5 ]{5}
<Brian> The ogre's helmet flies off, and there's a nasty looking gash in it's cheek, just below one eye.
<Brian> It doesn't fall down or back off, though.
<Brian> Segment 10.  Everyone (and I do mean everyone) goes.
<Brian> First in dex order is Breke, who now follows up with a normal attack.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> at 1/2 DCV, the ogre is hit.
<Brian> roll 1d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 1d6+1d3 --> [ 1d6=1 1d3=3 ]{4}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location.
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location. --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> Though, not in any way that it notices.
<Brian> Lammermore goes, and just tries to hit it without hurting Phil.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=6 ]{6}
<Brian> That's ... uh ... all seven hits.
<Brian> roll 7#2d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 7#2d6+1d3 --> [ 2d6=8 1d3=2 ]{10}, [ 2d6=4 1d3=2 ]{6}, [ 2d6=6 1d3=3 ]{9}, [ 2d6=6 1d3=3 ]{9}, [ 2d6=11 1d3=3 ]{14}, [ 2d6=7 1d3=3 ]{10}, [ 2d6=8 1d3=2 ]{10}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> While he didn't do any body, I'm going to rule that that much damage destroys the armor in that location -- the ogre's dwarven armor is no match for the eldrich magics of that blade, and his sleeves are torn off, bloodying the ogre further in the process.
<Brian> Then the ogre acts again.
<Brian> And attempts to push his strength.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=10 ]{10}
<Brian> roll 7#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 7#1d6 --> [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}
<Brian> Phil, you can make your resistance roll now.
<Dracos> Can I push my strength?
<Brian> No.  But you still get to act after your roll, since this is your phase.
<Dracos> Ah
<Dracos> roll 6#1d6 for BACK I SAY
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 6#1d6 for BACK I SAY --> [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}
<Brian> You're pinning him down.
<Brian> Next in dex order, Dracos.
Dracos roars and headbutts the ogre trying to slam him back and off balance and onto the ground if possible.
<Dracos> Pushing strength.
<Brian> Well, that's unexpected.
<Brian> Go ahead and make your roll.
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for I'm going to feel this in the morning >_>
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for I'm going to feel this in the morning >_> --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> You get 5 STR for 5 END.
<Brian> Go ahead and make your to-hit roll.
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for headbutt action
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for headbutt action --> [ 3d6=3 ]{3}
<Brian> Amazingly, you actually smack the Ogre's nose with the correct point on your forehead to knock him out.  You think.  You're not really sure because your world has become very fimly, dark, and looks a lot like the sky in most other ways.
<Brian> Dracos is now Knocked Out, the ogre is Stunned, and it's Bjorn's action.
Bjorn grabs the ogre, and attempts to pull him back, over, and launch him far away from the axe.
<Bjorn> That, we's a-going with a Martial Throw.
<Bjorn> Five points to OCV, one point to DC.
<Brian> Okay, go ahead and make your roll.
<Bjorn> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> That is a successful throw.
<Brian> Now roll damage to determine how far you throw him.
<Bjorn> roll 4#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 4#1d6 --> [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}
<Brian> You have thrown the ogre two meters away from the axe, where he lands on his back, and kind of wheezes.
<Brian> Segment 12 ends, everyone takes a recovery.
<Brian> Dracos, you are cognizant of your surroundings, and now have exactly your REC in END and Stun (I expect you to track this).
<Brian> Segment 2, speed sixes act.
<Brian> The Ogre lurches to his feet unsteadily, but is no longer Stunned.
<Brian> Segment three, speed fours.
<Brian> Dex order.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=7 ]{7}
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=6 ]{6}
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> roll 2d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2d6 --> [ 2d6=7 ]{7}
<Brian> roll 2d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2d6 --> [ 2d6=9 ]{9}
<Brian> roll 2d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2d6 --> [ 2d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> roll 3#3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3#3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}, [ 3d6=13 ]{13}, [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> Lammermore's eyes widen as an arrow smashes through the shield, and drives into his femoral artery.
<Brian> Breke is likewise staggered when an arrow pierces his chest.
<Brian> Phil, your left arm just took a nasty hit from this arrow -- only one half of your armor applies.
<Brian> The ogre acts, and rushes to Phil.
<Brian> roll 3d6 for Grab by
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for Grab by --> [ 3d6=15 ]{15}
<Brian> He kind of dives into phil to retrieve the axe, throwing himself prone in the process.
<Brian> Segment 6.  Breke recovers from being Dazed.  Lammermore recovered in segment 4, but doesn't get to act yet.
<Brian> Dex order.  No more arrows rain across the field.
<Brian> Though, the shield surrounding the area looks like it's fading.
<Brian> The ogre goes first.
<Brian> Raw strength to roll Phil off the axe and retrieve it.
<Brian> Phil, you can try to resist, or you can abort to act earlier (which isn't normally allowed, but I will this time).
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for luck be with me
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for luck be with me --> [ 3d6=16 ]{16}
<Brian> You're too blinded by pain to really focus on what you're doing, and just fumble around for a bit innefectually.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> The ogre just shoves you away (you manage not to hit the arrow stuck in your arm when you roll), and retrieves his axe.
<Brian> Bjorn: Your active phase.
<Bjorn> I am going to try and grab the axe.  3 points to OCV, 3 points to DC.
<Bjorn> And I'll be pushing my strength.
<Bjorn> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=14 ]{14}
<Brian> No extra strength.  Go ahead and roll your Grab.
<Bjorn> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=5 ]{5}
<Brian> You get a grip on the axe before he can try and get the blade into you.
<Bjorn> Oh, good.
<Brian> Go ahead and roll 1d6 for each point of strength you have.
<Bjorn> roll 6#1d6 three from strength and three from MA pool
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 6#1d6 three from strength and three from MA pool --> [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}
<Brian> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}
<Brian> The ogre won't let go of the axe.  But, he can't really use it like this, either.
<Brian> Segment eight, speed 3s and 6s.
<Brian> Lammermore goes first, and rushes at the ogre, trying not to hit Bjorn in the process.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> That's three hits, due to his don't-hit-Bjorn penalty.
<Brian> roll 3#2d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3#2d6+1d3 --> [ 2d6=2 1d3=3 ]{5}, [ 2d6=8 1d3=2 ]{10}, [ 2d6=8 1d3=1 ]{9}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location.
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location. --> [ 3d6=11 ]{11}
<Brian> Center of mass -- Lammermore's working on removing more armor from the ogre's back, but it takes a while to smash through.
<Brian> The ogre acts, and attempts to wrest the axe free from Bjorn's grip.
<Brian> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}
<Bjorn> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=3 ]{3}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}
<Brian> The ogre is strong, but you've got a better grip.
<Brian> Segment 9, speed 4s.
<Brian> Breke charges next to Lammermore after snapping off the arrow that's stuck in his chest, and takes a whack at the ogre.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> hits.
<Brian> roll 1d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 1d6+1d3 --> [ 1d6=6 1d3=1 ]{7}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> Arms, no armor applies.  The blades seem to actually burn the ogre's flesh, and it yelps, releasing the axe into Bjorn's grip.  Bjorn falls backwards, landing in the ground, but still hanging onto the blade.
<Brian> Segment 10, speed 6s.
<Brian> The ogre climbs to its feet.
<Brian> Segment 12, everyone acts.
<Dracos> Can I pick up my sword and recover in the same turn?
<Brian> Yeah, your sword is right next to you, if by 'recover' you mean 'stand up'.
<Brian> If you mean 'take a recovery', then no.
Dracos takes his sword, lifting it to a slightly defensive position and standing back up.
<Brian> You're dizzy, your back hurts, your arm hurts, and your head is ringing from where you intercepted that T.O.W. missile with your forehead.
<Brian> But you are on your feet again.
<Brian> Now, back to normal dex order.
<Brian> roll 3#3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3#3d6 --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}, [ 3d6=9 ]{9}, [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> roll 3#2d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3#2d6 --> [ 2d6=8 ]{8}, [ 2d6=8 ]{8}, [ 2d6=5 ]{5}
<Brian> roll 3#3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3#3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=10 ]{10}, [ 3d6=8 ]{8}, [ 3d6=14 ]{14}
<Brian> Lammermore, Breke, and Bjorn are each struck with an arrow from beyond the barrier.  Lammermore is the only one who appears to be injured -- the armor blocked the damage for Breke and Bjorn.
<Brian> Lammermore tears an arrowhead out of his arm and throws it on the ground.
<Brian> Breke acts next.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> Breke hits.
<Brian> roll 2d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2d6+1d3 --> [ 2d6=9 1d3=3 ]{12}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=11 ]{11}
<Brian> Center of mass.  Another chunk of armor is gone.
<Brian> The ogre goes last, and tries to grab his weapon from Bjorn.
<Brian> roll 3d6 for strength
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for strength --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for Grab
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for Grab --> [ 3d6=16 ]{16}
<Brian> his attempts are thwarted when you keep the axe out of his grip, though.
<Bjorn> I'm going to take this axe, and I'm going to try to hit the ogre with it.
<Brian> Go ahead and make your roll -- you're going to get a -2 OCV penalty for being below the required STR.
Bjorn is keeping the same 3 OCV, 3 DC arrangement, btw.
<Bjorn> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> You miss -- barely.  The axe carves a deep furrow in the earth, though.
<Brian> Post-segment 12, everyone gets a recovery.
<Brian> >_>
<Brian> Segment 2, speed 6s.
<Brian> The ogre goes for the axe again.
<Brian> roll 3d6 for STR
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for STR --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for Grab
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for Grab --> [ 3d6=16 ]{16}
<Brian> He's just not able to get the axe, though.
<Brian> Segment 3, speed 4s.
<Brian> Breke again takes a whack at the ogre.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> roll 1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 1d6 --> [ 1d6=4 ]{4}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=11 ]{11}
<Brian> This time the blade ignores the ogres armor again -- though blood splashes through the rent Breke made last time.
<Brian> segment 4, speed 6s, speed 3s.
<Brian> Lammermore goes first, and tries to hack at the ogre
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=10 ]{10}
<Brian> Two hits.
<Brian> roll 2#2d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2#2d6+1d3 --> [ 2d6=6 1d3=3 ]{9}, [ 2d6=8 1d3=1 ]{9}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=15 ]{15}
<Brian> Another gash in the armor on the ogre's legs.
<Brian> The ogre goes.
<Brian> roll 3d6 for Grab
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for Grab --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> The ogre again misses.
<Brian> Speed 6, everyone acts.
<Brian> Dex order.
<Brian> roll 3#3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3#3d6 --> [ 3d6=9 ]{9}, [ 3d6=13 ]{13}, [ 3d6=6 ]{6}
<Brian> roll 2#2d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2#2d6 --> [ 2d6=9 ]{9}, [ 2d6=4 ]{4}
<Brian> roll 2#3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2#3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=16 ]{16}, [ 3d6=10 ]{10}
<Brian> Another arrow hits Lammermore, driving through the platemail on his leg.
<Brian> The arrow that strikes Breke's chest slides off the curve of the armor and just hits the ground.
<Brian> Breke goes next, and tries to run the ogre through.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=6 ]{6}
<Brian> roll 2d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 2d6 --> [ 2d6=9 ]{9}
<Brian> Called shot to the chest, and he drives the sword through the gap in the general's armor ... and more blood gushes out.  By all rights, you think the ogre should be dead, but he just continues to hang in there, growling, and fixated on his axe.
<Brian> Next in dex order, the ogre.
<Brian> roll 3d6 for Grab
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for Grab --> [ 3d6=9 ]{9}
<Brian> He wraps his hands around the handle of the axe, and eyes Bjorn like he means to have it back.
<Brian> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=6 ]{6}
Bjorn snarls back, clearly conveying that this is now his axe.
<Bjorn> roll 6#1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 6#1d6 --> [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=4 ]{4}, [ 1d6=5 ]{5}, [ 1d6=1 ]{1}, [ 1d6=2 ]{2}
<Bjorn> Chibi-Suu don't agree with me.
<Brian> The ogre growls at you, and tears the axe from your hands.
<Brian> Phil, now it's your turn.
Dracos grunts angrily, rushing forward, pulling his sword way back in preparation for a haymaker and bringing it back around at the ogre.
<Bjorn> Two OCV, four DC.
<Bjorn> Taking that damn axe back.
<Bjorn> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> You ... just ... barely miss the opportunity to grab it, but seeing you (the axe thief!) he moves it out of reach.
<Brian> Okay.
<Brian> Phase 7, speed 1s, and people who haymakered in segment 6.
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for this would be a really bad time for a bad roll
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for this would be a really bad time for a bad roll --> [ 3d6=10 ]{10}
<Brian> You hit.
<Brian> roll your damage.
<Dracos> roll 4d6 for "Hear me roar?"
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 4d6 for "Hear me roar?" --> [ 4d6=17 ]{17}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> Right across the stomach -- this blow is the final one -- for the armor.  The entire chestplate crumbles and falls to the ground with a resounding clang, revealing the ogre's tortured flesh.  His wounds are apparent, now.  You've inflicted multiple slashes, stabs, cuts, and (somehow) burns on him ... Phil's latest attack lay a neat and nasty looking gash across his stomach, but he's still ... not ... dead.
<Brian> Segment eight, speed 3s, and speed 6s.
<Brian> Lammermore's in a bad way from the arrows, and takes a recovery.
<Brian> The ogre senses this weakness, and attempts to charge Lammermore, but Breke's standing in his way.
<Brian> roll 3d6 for Move Through
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for Move Through --> [ 3d6=14 ]{14}
<Brian> Breke is going to be hit with this.
<Brian> roll 3d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6+1d3 --> [ 3d6=8 1d3=3 ]{11}
<Brian> And gets off pretty lightly, only being smashed aside with a cracked chestplate.
<Brian> It slows the ogre from reaching Lammermore, at least.
<Brian> Segment 9, Breke climbs back to his feet, and says something in a language none of you recognize.  But the ogre pauses when he hears it.  His voice is deep, resounding, and very angry.  More over, Breke's eyes are fixed firmly on the ogre.
<Brian> The ogre pauses at this, and turns around to look at Breke warily.
<Brian> Segment 10, speed 6s.
<Brian> The ogre says something back to Breke.  Not sure what it is, but it sounds pretty foul.
<Brian> Breke raises his sword in a defensive gesture, and the ogre charges again.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=14 ]{14}
<Brian> He misses.
<Brian> Segment 12, everyone acts.
<Brian> Dex order is Lammermore, who sinks to his knees, his eyes kind of dazed -- he's losing a lot of blood from those wounds, and can't reach them beneath the armor.
Dracos takes a recovery if the ogre is not nearby.
<Brian> Next is Breke, who holds his action.
<Brian> Dracos: You're after the ogre.
<Brian> Then the ogre.
<Brian> Who attacks Breke.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=5 ]{5}
<Brian> roll 4d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 4d6 --> [ 4d6=18 ]{18}
<Brian> roll 3d6 for hit location
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 for hit location --> [ 3d6=8 ]{8}
<Brian> Breke's arm can't take 18 points of damage, so it's severed, and the blade buries itself in his chest, where it gets stuck.
<Brian> The ogre throws his head back in a howl of vindication.
<Brian> Dracos: Your action.
Dracos takes the shot at the ogre's backside while he's busy howling in vindication, thrusting and trusting to the weight and size of the blade to do some damage!
<Brian> Go ahead and make your roll.
<Dracos> roll 3d6 for 'no killin' our swordsmasters now'
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 3d6 for 'no killin' our swordsmasters now' --> [ 3d6=12 ]{12}
<Brian> That's a hit.
<Brian> Go ahead and roll your damage.
<Dracos> roll 2d6+1d3 for backstabbity!
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Dracos ... : 2d6+1d3 for backstabbity! --> [ 2d6=11 1d3=1 ]{12}
<Brian> You lay open his back a bit -- more blood pours out, and his howl cuts off.
<Brian> He growls, blood marking his spittle as he drools, and spins to face you.
<Brian> Bjorn: Your action.
Bjorn scoops down, seizing the sword that Breke... dropped, before bringing it up in a whirling upwards diagonal strike at the ogre.
<Bjorn> 3 OCV, 3 DC still.
<Brian> Breke's eyes slowly roll towards Bjorn, somewhat faded, like the spark of life in them is extinguishing as you watch it.  "I wish," he says slowly, "that I was brave ... like you."  And with that, he stills, that light vanishing, and his eyes no longer tracking anything.
<Bjorn> For a total OCV of 13.
<Brian> Go ahead and make your roll.
<Bjorn> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=13 ]{13}
<Brian> This is a hit.
<Bjorn> How much for damage?
<Brian> Now, in order to determine damage, what are you planning on this blade (you're holding the white one) doing.
<Bjorn> Er.
<Bjorn> What options do I have?
<Brian> Well, what is your character thinking when he's swinging this weapon?
<Bjorn> Ah.  I am aiming to open up the ogre's chest, from right hip to the join of the neck to the left shoulder.
<Brian> Then your attack is going to be str+5 DC.
<Brian> Or, 2d6+1d3
<Bjorn> That includes my 3 MA pool DC?
<Bjorn> roll 2d6+1d3
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 2d6+1d3 --> [ 2d6=5 1d3=2 ]{7}
<Brian> Er.
<Brian> No.
<Bjorn> Oh.
<Brian> So, add another 1d6 to that.
<Bjorn> roll 1d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Bjorn ... : 1d6 --> [ 1d6=4 ]{4}
<Brian> The ogre looks at you, and then down at the slash on his chest.  This last one doesn't really seem all that different from the others....  But its affect is.
<Brian> He sinks to his knees and looks up at you with a combination of disgust and anger ... and then crumbles into dust.
<Brian> roll 3d6
<Chibi-Suu> them bones was tossed for Brian ... : 3d6 --> [ 3d6=7 ]{7}
<Brian> Everyone takes seven stun and is severely dizzied as time compresses, and the moon rises instantly, cleansing the battlefield of the Dreadmarch.
<Brian> You're quickly swept up (everyone) in the tide of the storm-riders eager to get their families to the safety of the keep.
Bjorn makes sure to collect Breke's body, and to keep it as safe as possible from the press of the crowd.
