<Zara> After a moment's consideration, Zara strides forward, fishing a healing potion from her pack, and offers it to her doppelganger.
<Clank> Ratchet snorts a bunch of air and makes a screeching confused sound.

<Kotono> Zara startles and stumbles back, drawing her blade, "Imposter!" she declares, spitting out blood, "This tower's been twisting things ever since we got in here!"
* Zara takes a moment scan her imposter for signs of villainy (OOC: Detect Evil here).
<Kotono> Zara does not detect evil.
<Clank> "If you're the real one, your doppelganger seems fairly, uh, benign?" Clank offers. "What have you faced so far, Zara? It might help us figure out how to get through here."

[18:03] * Zara walks forward...slowly, since she's not real sure about this other Zara either. Assuming her twin doesn't do anything unpleasant, she'll hand the potion over.

[18:08] * Bellamin cautiously steps in, looking around, taking everything in with blue eyes and short cropped black hair.
[18:08] * Zara pauses a moment. Then she loads her crossbow and, with care, given the unwieldy size of such a weapon and the corresponding difficulty of aiming it at oneself, reverses it so the bolt should fire into her own eye. Then she pulls the trigger.
[18:09] * Bellamin watches this, starts to speak, shakes his head, and turns to the other one.
[18:09] <Bellamin> "So, I'm guessing you're in charge here? I got sent in as back up for you."
[18:09] <Kotono> The silent Zara collapses in a spray of blood! The other Zara screams as her body knits, falling over in an incoherent heap!
[18:11] <Clank> "I don't think anybody's in charge, we're mostly just watching as they figure out who's the real one between themselves," Clank explains to the new guy after observing him and deciding he's probably not a trap from the tower.
[18:12] <Bellamin> "... Uh, you sure that's... Wise? I mean.. She just shot herself. Is she really able to make decisions on her own?"
[18:12] <Clank> "Have you decided who the real one is, yet?" Clank asks the two Zara's, not understanding at all what's going on with their reactions, honestly.
[18:13] <Zara> After a moment of eerily corpselike stillness, the more talkative of the Zara twins coughs, rolls onto her side and sits up. The silent Zara remains quite permanently silent, what with the bolt through her head and all. "I recommend," the living Zara says hoarsely, "that one avoid being drawn away by shadowy hands in future."
[18:14] <Clank> "We shall keep that in mind. What happened to her now?" Clank asks, ignoring Bellamin's question, as he eyes the other Zara.
[18:14] <Clank> "Well, besides the arrow and all."
[18:14] * Bellamin warily eyes the woman and makes a point to keep some distance..
[18:15] <Zara> "Ungh," she adds, holding her head as she rises. "I have the last memory of my counterpart suffering a bolt through her brain. Would that I could do without it." She shakes her head. "She was...a shadow, if you like."


[18:15] <Kotono> A moment later, Zara's voice is heard, "She was the true self." It comes from above and nowhere.
[18:16] * Bellamin glances around and firms his grip on one of his spears..
[18:18] * Zara glances up. "One of me is sufficient. Three is quite superfluous," she addresses the mystery speaker.
[18:20] <Kotono> What approaches out of the darkness is...Zara? Zara, save for a perfectly smoothed over face, a roll of flesh spread taut over it and stitched into place like the patch of a quilt. In her hands is a sewing needle and string.

[18:55] <Clank> "Hrm...since you seem to be the boss of this tower, if we were to kill you, would we become victorious over this tower as well?" Clank muses. He doesn't look too serious as he muses it...probably.
[18:55] <Zara> "You would not," Zara states flatly.
[18:56] <Noved> "Hmm. She's probably have some decent loot." Noved agrees, grinning slyly.
[18:56] <Clank> "No, wait, that one creature by the bridge didn't have anything to do with you anyway. That's probably not an accurate enough theory," Clank supposes, ignoring Zara's comment.
[18:57] <Zara> "We have not had opportunity to introduce ourselves," Zara changes the topic as she addresses the newcomer. "I am Zara. You are our backup?"
[18:58] <Clank> "So he claims. He could be another enemy, but he seems fairly unshadowy as far as I could tell. You never really know if he truly was sent in by Lady Emerelda though."
[18:58] <Clank> "I am willing to trust him for the time being."
[18:58] * Noved shrugs. "I dislike tattletales. Let him prove his worth through his actions."
[18:59] * Zara shrugs. "He aided us in the battle, no? This is sufficient."

[19:02] <Zara> "I suppose we make our way through this strange void," Zara says with a shrug, and starts out walking...exactly away from wherever they came in from, sure. "Given my recent experiences, I would recommend keeping distance from everything we encounter here."

[19:05] <Kotono> Advancing ahead into the darkness and avoiding the pools of light, the party advances on. Ahead...you see it. A stairway rising up, spiraling up higher and higher.

[19:06] * Clank pauses on the stairs, and turns to look at Bellamin. "What expertise do you have again? Are you a skilled trapfinder by any chance? If not, I will lead the way up."

[19:09] <Clank> "Hrm...is that so? A 'Jack of all trades, master of none' type?" Clank asks, quoting a passage from somewhere he's read regarding that phrase.
[19:09] <Bellamin> "Sort of. I'm pretty good at most things, typically."
[19:10] <Kotono> Thus the party ascends up! Up and up, leaving the darkness behind to rise into more shadows! As you do, ahead near the top of the stairs? A goblin lies, twitching occasionally. His eyes are glazed over, wide and vapid.
[19:11] * Noved reaches out with a toe and pokes the unfortunate individual. "Uh, excuse me, Mr. Goblin, sir? Are you ok?"
[19:11] * Zara evidences precisely no surprise at this development. "This place eats at one's mind."
[19:12] * Clank doesn't wait for a reply for Noved, instead merely gesturing Ratchet to move closer and then slams his blade into the goblin's neck. "Then he has no useful information. Let's carry on before our own minds become casualties."
[19:12] <Kotono> "Hahaa..." The goblin sputters, "The Dark Lady comes..." he gasps, "The Dark Lady comes..."
[19:13] * Zara spares a frown for this display in general.

[19:16] * Zara shrugs. "No. Some being of shadow, perhaps, given the tower's inhabitants. Or some figment of the creature's deranged mind. Let us proceed and find out?"

[19:17] <Kotono> "Dark...Lady...comes close..." Whimpering and going still again, eyes glazing back over, the goblin is silent. Thus you climb and climb and climb! You come out into a huge circular room, pitch black!
[19:18] <Bellamin> ".. Why's every dungeon have to be all about death and fighting the most powerful thing around? Why can't it ever end up being like.. A job interview? Or a marriage proposal to the beautiful princess or something?"
