[21:51] * Luther tries to determine the magic inside of the cathedral again, focusing on how it might relate to the scroll's message

[21:52] <Pavel> "Maybe it's not a remedy for the lava. Maybe it's a disease."

[19:41] <Kotono> Pavel looks around, but doesn't find anything new or interesting.
[19:41] <Pavel> "Well, I've got nothing."
[19:42] <Kevamros> "Maybe healing?"
[19:42] <Kevamros> "A play on remedy, maybe?"
[19:42] <Luther> "Good idea. Holy water might work too, if there's any in this cathedral."
[19:42] <Kotono> As the party talks, they can see the laval outside starting to rise. That can't be good!
[19:43] * Luther searches for casks of holy water!
[19:43] <Kotono> OOC: Search check.
[19:43] * Kevamros calls on the power of Shaundakul and throws out healing power! OOC: Burning a turn.

[19:46] * Pavel scratches his head, not entirely concerned. He looks about for anything out of the ordinary for what appears to be a chapel in Hell. "Maybe purify an altar or something?"
[19:47] * Kevamros takes Pavel's suggestion and inspects the area for any kind of altar that needs purifying.

[19:49] <Luther> ooc: Was there any sight of stairs or some such? Like up to a belltower?
[19:50] <Luther> "Is there maybe a way upwards? Both times we've gone to 'hell' by travelling downward, so if we go to higher ground, that might be the remedy?"
[19:50] <Luther> "Wish I had a way to fly..."
[19:50] <Kotono> OOC: No, just a ceiling that goes up and up.
[19:51] <Pavel> "I can fly." Pavel helpfully points out.
[19:52] <Luther> "That might be what we need to do then. Perhaps we can get back to your ship too, don't you think?"
[19:52] <Kotono> As the party talks and looks around, the lava continues to rise. It's not far from starting to spill in through the front door.
[19:52] <Luther> "How long do your summons last? Long enough to get us up high enough to escape the lava?"
[19:54] <Pavel> "Not too terribly long. Maybe, if we actually have high ground to go to."
[19:56] <Luther> "Can they get us to the roof, you resummon some fresh ones from there?"
[19:56] <Luther> "We...don't have much time, and I can't think of anything better."
[19:56] * Luther eyes the rising lava with discomfort.
[20:00] <Pavel> "I suppose. We'll need to be quick about it, and we'll need to do it from outside."
[20:00] <Kotono> The lava is indeed rising - as the party talks, it starts spilling into the cathedral! It won't e long now!
[20:06] * Luther starts to shatter windows to provide a path of escape for them once Pavel makes his summons!
[20:07] <Kotono> Windows are shattered, glass falling outwards as Luther works.
[20:07] * Pavel summons three dire bats, immediately hasting them in the time it takes Luther to smash out a set of windows! OOC: 3 SM3s, 1 haste burned
[20:08] <Pavel> "MOUNT UP!"
[20:09] * Pavel hops onto the back of one of the bats, heading out one of the windows. OOC: Reminder, EVERYone has haste now

[20:11] <Pavel> OOC: That's hilarious.

[20:20] <Kotono> The entire party takes off and through the windows. Winds batter them as bats never meant to be ridden are ridden. The party ascends ot 100ft up, as Pavel and Kevamros find their grips going - and thus the two start to fall, off mounts and towards the inferno below. OOC: 1 round of actions to try and do something about a lava bath for those two, y'all.
[20:21] * Kevamros tries to latch onto the summon any way he can, vowing to use rope to tie himself to it if he survives long enough!

[20:22] <Luther> ooc: Will I need a ride or concentration check to cast something? I was considering a swarm of bats to try and press them against their rides, thus keeping them from falling.

[20:24] <Luther> Seeing the others at danger of falling off, Luther summons a swarm of bats to try and hold them/prop them up! It won't be painless, it -is- a swarm of bats, but at least they won't take a lava bath hopefully!

[20:28] <Kotono> Pavel takes to flight, while a swarm of bats tries to support Kevamros. OOC: I'm not really sure how to handle this, so I'll call it a caster level check, Merc. Go for it.

[20:30] <Kotono> It's just enough - pushing Kev on, where he grabs his ride for dear life. As the party recovers, they see it ahead - a swirling blue portal!
[20:31] * Pavel clearly things that this is a good thing and heads for the portal.
[20:31] <Luther> "Aha, we chose wisely, it seems!"
[20:31] * Luther does nothing like trying to direct his ride at the moment! He might screw up and tell it to go into the lava if he did! It seems to be going in the right direction right now anyway.
[20:34] * Kevamros simply holds on for dear life.
[20:35] <Kotono> The party heads through the portal. It's a swirling mess and then - yes! YES! It's Luther's study! You land there with a thump, your summons gone. Resting on the table before you is an envelope. Did you escape? Are you alive?!
[20:35] * Kevamros pants a bit.
[20:36] * Pavel chirps.
[20:36] * Luther goes for the envelope.
[20:37] <Luther> "Hopefully it says that your ship is parked outside my castle and with a lot of treasure onboard," Luther offers Pavel and Kevamros as he opens the envelope.
[20:37] <Kevamros> "I, in no way, believe that's at all possible."
[20:38] * Pavel hops onto Kevamros' head and packs at his hair.
[20:38] <Kotono> The envelope reads: Congratulations! I'll see you again soon.
[20:39] <Luther> "Nope, just a congratulations. Well, we can check outside still, but looks like he might be stingy this time around."
[20:39] * Pavel abruptly changes back into his normal form, and falls off of Kevamros' head with a dull thump.
[20:40] <Pavel> "NOTE TO ALL: Thinking like a bird is strange and unpleasant after the fact."
[20:42] <Kevamros> "So is falling into lava."
[20:47] <Pavel> "Maybe for you."
[20:59] <Luther> "I think falling in lava would be pretty terrible, myself."
[20:59] <Pavel> "I think it sounds pleasant."
[21:02] <Luther> "Then why transform into a bird?"
[21:03] <Pavel> "The cleric needed the bats more than I did. Plus, we'd have to replace the things he's carrying if he died. It would be inconvenient."
