Beastland wanderings

[Iron Dragoon]

Alyssa motions to the others and tries to spot whatever it is.

[Anastasia]

Jarem's near silent but murmurs, "Saw it. A panther, pretty quiet. Moves like water."

Bastian nods, ready to move at a moment's notice.

"Hardly a threat, we could scare it away," Jessica says, "I'm more surprised one even approaches me."

[Iron Dragoon]

"They're intelligent, right? Scare it off?"

[Anastasia]

Jessica turns and is a blur, a dart into the blushes.

Whatever happens there, there's a skittering, a breaking of branches. Jessica emerges and says, "It's gone."

"If it ran like that-" Jarem begins, then frowns. "You really don't act like a god."

"She can be whatever kind god she wants. Let's keep going."

[Anastasia]

You wander a time longer, in the wilds. You glimpse animals - from rabbits to squirrels, to greater predators glimpsed in the distance. After perhaps an hour, you sniff the air and detect a faint but notable scent of ozone.

As you do Bastian sniffs, "Smells like those lizards you like."

[Iron Dragoon]

"Well, they're easy to deal with. They scare the right way."

[Anastasia]

"Small mercies," Bastian grunts.

"Leave them be. They're pests but the predators here should deal with them. I hope," Jessica frowns, "No, maybe we should deal with them. They're a menace."

[Iron Dragoon]

Alyssa frowns, "They're adorable. Just leave them be. Catch the leader and give him a toss, they'll leave."

[Anastasia]

Jessica glances over, "I'm sorry?" she asks after a moment. "Adorable?"

[Iron Dragoon]

"Yes! Absolutely! They have amazing scale patterns and love to cuddle. Reptiles love body heat, after all. And they're pack animals, which means they're sociable! And their temperaments are super calm.

And their goofy little antennae!

I'm training a bunch as an infiltration trap unit. I'm going to awaken a few to help with more precise control and deployment."

[Anastasia]

Stone silence from Jessica. She says not a word, eyes a little wide. "You cuddle with shocker lizards," she says, voice completely flat.

[Iron Dragoon]

"Sure! Contact is important for socialization.  It's important that they get used to being around people so they better recognize what's prey or a threat and what isn't. Same with how other animals were domesticated."
