A crappy first week back..

Excuse me if I swear in this post. I'm upset.

Well, it was entirely my fault, I guess, and I'm an idiot but I'm entitled to be pissed, and more importantly, I need to vent. If anyone tells me it's all my fault, however true this might be...

I managed to get the shittiest first week back to school, starting off with a horrible illness which kept me in bed the second day (normally a good thing, except I was really sick)..

But the worst was yet to come..

The teachers of the school have a nasty habit of poking around whatever students are sharing over the School Network(tm), and happened to chance upon my laptop.

Which contained a folder, with a movie titled "Winsock32.mpg".

Which the teacher watched.

And promptly discovered it was a porn movie.

Excuse me for being blunt, but according to my records, the teacher accessed my laptop at 10:11, and didn't stop until 10:45- the recess bell. Which meant he was watching the movie directly from my computer.

Which means, of course, that he was watching it for THIRTY-FOUR minutes.

Which pisses me to no end, as I'm now in heaps of shit, with parents and the school in general ("This is an expellable offence, Thomas, but we're being lenient.").

*sighs*

They tried to kick me off the network, but I'm using a different OS than the rest of them (Win 98 vs. 2000), so they can't actually stop me. Thank god. Because the network is going to crash tomorrow.

Which means, on Saturday, I might be tasked with fixing it instead of writing lines like people usually do on weekend detentions.

Fat fucking chance. I don't care much about the school, but the parents..

Hell, my dad's the next worse thing to DP's mom, threatning all sorts of crap, shitting on about what a disgrace I am, etc. etc...

Did I mention that this was the day I managed to get all my projects, assignment back and got good marks for each of them? When I was doing really shit for most of the year?

Am I allowed an entire fucking WEEK without having it break down into a fucking catastrophe? Is there such thing as peace these days? Is it possible to go a whole fucking DAY without pissing of either my parents or my teachers, no matter how good I am? It was just a freaking stupid mistake of mine to leave the folder shared. Could've just as well been buying lemonade instead of coke..

Man, that's harsh.  Best I can say is to take a deep breath and try and put the best perspective you can on it....Not much help, I think, but it's worth a shot.

Man, that even beats the time my school tried to frame me and my friend wayne (wayne because he was seen talking to me regularly), for sabotaging the school network.

Man, high marks are usually bartering tools.  hum, let's see, I'd turn your dad's words back on him if you can.  Sure, I'm a real asshole in doing that myself, but I've found it works.  Ask him stuff like: "I'm doing a stellar job at school...  and fucked up once...  you call that a disgrace?   Am I now unsalvagable because of one mistake?   Darn, then maybe I should just drop out and join a gang as it probably won't DISGRACE YOU any more eh?"  Hum...generally that gets them angry though..very angry ^_^;  works sometimes but only if you are really getting top marks.  I'd prominantly display your good side also....  

I'd inquire into the privacy policy at your school.  If it's a private school you probably have little leeway...if it's a public school I'm absolutely certain they were overstepping their authority.  It all depends on the range of their legal charter.  BTW, if having porn is an expellable offense than that school is fucked up really.

Hum, why fix the network for them?  They pay people a lot of money to do that usually.  Why should you accept a punishment different from the average student... let them suffer too.  Take glee in the fact that "They want to make a villain? They got one."  Lines smines....  really, they are less likely to piss off a student that there is much benefit to keeping not pissed off.

Isn't there some kind of law against dobbing in another student? Some kind of unwritten rule which states that "If a student dobs in another for an offence they have commited, they shall be shot?"

For security reasons, I shall now reveal the George Sombol, a total fatass and ugly hypocrite is going to have his locker detonated, and his eyes blinded by a well-placed bomb.

Turning words back on my dad is generally a bad idea. I can't exactly afford to maintain the lifestyle I want without getting a job, and with my less-than-stellar personality when it comes to these things..

Oh, the school network went down. It's their own fault for putting a freaking router in the same room I work in and letting me anywhere NEAR the cables for it..

It's a private school, unfortunately. However, now half the staff think I'm some kind of demented sicko who distributes porn to grade two kids.. fucking hell. You'd think they'd show a LITTLE sense...

And the fucking principal has the nerve to keep me wating for half an hour in the morning, then tell me to see him at recess, then tell me to see him at lunch.. I've served fucking twice as much time that I should have already..

If the school[Campbell being ultra-god oriented] saw the stuff I have on my computer...it would not be pretty.  They'd probably have me burning on the stake before I could realize what I'd done wrong.

You seem overly stressed about the principal and what your parents think.  Just stop caring.  It really helps, it helped me, anyway.  Maybe it'll work for you.  Face criticism and anger with complete apathy...there's really not that many ways to fight it.

Like now, when my mom argues with me, I just look at her flatly, show no emotion, and agree with everything she says.  She has no idea how to handle someone who doesn't disagree with her.

DP: It's not really all that bad, actually. I care about my mother.. she's pretty nice, and lets me get away with a great deal. I stopped giving a damn about what my dad thinks of me ages ago, and avoid him and his horrible ideas of "humour" whenever I can.

It's shit, but my parents control most aspects of my life, and until I get an income coming in which dosn't require THEM, I'm pretty much stuck.

I too know the horror of not having financial independence.  I, on the other hand, have a wealthy grandmother who loves me more than her own children.  I've pretty much stopped asking for money from my parents, since I can't get my grandma to stop sending it to me[I mooch, but only reluctantly].  

So, what type of porn was this that you got caught with?  I'm guessing girl/girl.

Rat:  Aren't you like 15 or 16?  And 2004?  I think thats when I'm gonna graduate college... o_O  Heck, doesn't that mean you still got 2 years or so before you're legal to buy porn?  Shit... well, here's a trick.  What most school sys-admins like to do is run a system-wide search on files every so often.  So what you do, is rename the EXTENSION as well.  So long as you know what the file is, and can rename it back to the correct extention when you want to play it, it should be perfectly fine.  My general rule is pick a .dll (driver file), and emulate those.  No one in their right minds (even sys-admins) really messes with the structure of a .dll.

I used to do that to people back in high school.  If someone in comp class annoyed me, I wouldn't delete their work, or even hide it, I would just change the file extension[it was so fun to have the BO server installed on all the computers in the school].  The idiot teacher had no idea what had happened and I just shrugged my shoulders and told whoever it was that they should be more careful.

Mighty frustrating, that, especially when it happens at least once a week to works of no less than two or three typed pages...

Never tried it with porn, though.  Good idea...
