<Prince_Herb> All is dark.   The odour is very strong.

* Mitchigan says as he points his sword at the opening of the cave...

* Mitchigan readjusts his grip on his sword, and slowly approaches the cave...
<Mitchigan> "Okay... May Kord be with me!"
<Celanyth> "Wait, I'll go.."
* Celanyth sighs and heads out..

* Celanyth heads into the cave to scout it..
* Mitchigan sighs in what might be relief, and lets Celanyth go ahead...
<Prince_Herb> Celanyth drifts down the corridor, his keen elfin eyes rapidly adjusting to the darkness within
<Prince_Herb> Fifteen feet from the entrance he comes to a crossroads, and signs of a battle somes days or weeks old
* Celanyth heads back up the tunnel a bit.
<Celanyth> "Come on, but be quiet. Looks like there was a battle."
<Prince_Herb> Celanyth sees the remains of an large heavy net, burnt and cut in many places.
<Prince_Herb> He also sees a lot of bloodstains, and shattered bones
* Mitchigan follows in, taking care not to make much sound as he does...
* Hidoyou walks in after him, cautiously
* Mitchigan whispers, "Celanyth, have you found anything of signifigance?"
<Celanyth> "Just some ruined weapons and blood stains. I haven't gone further than here."
* Mitchigan frowns...
<Prince_Herb> [You didn't see any weapons]
<Mitchigan> "Signs of battle?"
<Celanyth> "You guys stay here, I'll check the right passage real quick."
* Celanyth heads off down the right corridor.
<Mitchigan> "Very well! Justice be with you!"
<Prince_Herb> The corridor doglegs a bit, but Celanyth stealthily checks each corner before advancing further
<Prince_Herb> Finally, he arrives in a large dark chamber...
<Prince_Herb> Celanyth, you can't tell how large it is, but there's an echo
* Celanyth shifts around in his pack and pulls out his bullseye lantern and lights it.
<Prince_Herb> Now you can see a lot more detail of the room and the corridor leading to it
<Prince_Herb> The corridor leading to this room seems to have been the scene of a fighting retreat, and here you can see hwere the defenders were brought to bay.
<Prince_Herb> This 30'x30' room was the site of a desperate struggle.
<Prince_Herb> The green-skinned humanoids whose bodies litter the place seem to have lost, slashed and clawed to death by their undead foes.
* Celanyth shutters the lantern and heads back to the group in order to lead them to this room.
<Prince_Herb> Several human skeletons, their dry bones broken or slashed are here as well, collapsed into untidy heaps.
<Prince_Herb> In a few cases, it seems as if the desperae humanoids had been reduced to biting at their foes, trying to break their bones with the huge teeth in the jutting lower jaw.
<Prince_Herb> The human remains seem much older than the humanoid bodies, which while far gone, cannot have been dead more than a few weeks.
<Prince_Herb> Rats scurry for cover as you approach but stop a safe distance off, ready to return to their interrupted meal.
<Prince_Herb> Celanyth returns to the junction
<Mitchigan> "Did you find anything?"
<Celanyth> "Yes, I found the last stand of the battle, I think."
<Celanyth> "Looks like they were goblins defending against.. undead.."
<Celanyth> "Come on, follow me."
* Mitchigan gasps in shock
* Celanyth opens the shutters on the lantern and leads them back to the battle site.
<Mitchigan> "The... The embodiment of evil itself!!!"
* Mitchigan follows with a furious glint in his eyes...
<Celanyth> "Shut. Up."
<Celanyth> "No noise. If they're still around, you'll tell them *exactly* where we are before we even know they're still around."
<Prince_Herb> Chandor gets ready to smite the undead
* Celanyth heads back to the site, and uses the lantern to further explore the cavern.
* Hidoyou readies himself for any sudden movements
<Prince_Herb> The cavern appears to be a dead-end.
<Prince_Herb> There are 10 corpses and a lot of fragments of skeletons scattered around the room
<Celanyth> "This looks like it... Anyone got anything to do here, or should I check the other paths?"
<Hidoyou> What makes you think there are 'undead' at work here?
<Mitchigan> "What makes you think there aren't?"
<Celanyth> "Look at the diffrences between the bodies. The goblins still have flesh on them. The skeletons, none. If those skeletons had still been living, they'd be at the same point as the goblins."
<Mitchigan> "Celanyth, Please check the other paths, we'll wait here."
<Hidoyou> If they're undead, why aren't they moving?
* Celanyth heads out, shuttering the lantern when he gets to the intersection, and takes the left path. (Left from the direction we entered.)
<Mitchigan> "Whatever evil that had been controlling them must have loosened it's hold."
<Hidoyou> I suggest we dispose of these corpses
<Mitchigan> "I agree."
<Prince_Herb> Chandor agrees too, and gets his prayer book ready
* Hidoyou looks at Chandor
<Hidoyou> Yes, you're a priest, aren't you?
* Mitchigan rolls his eyes...
<Mitchigan> "I thought that was clearly apparent by now... Of course he's a priest!"
<Hidoyou> Feel free to send them to the Great Wheel, then.
<Prince_Herb> Chandor looks at you all expectantly
* Hidoyou fishes out a torch and lights it
* Mitchigan begins shovelling the corpses into a crude bonfire...
* Hidoyou nods to Chandor
<Prince_Herb> The corpses don't seem to want to catch fire
<Prince_Herb> The dry bones burn with a dense black smoke, but you're not going to get rid of the corpses this way
<Mitchigan> "Hmm... Burying them is probably the only thing we can do for now.
* Mitchigan begins digging a hole for a mass grave...
<Prince_Herb> Mitchigan has no tools to dig a grave in this rock
<Hidoyou> We have no choice but to leave them, then
<Hidoyou> Unless you wish to cart them all out by hand
* Mitchigan drops the skull he was digging with a sigh...
<Mitchigan> Laer then.

<Prince_Herb> Chandor must remember to buy a pick and shovel and come back later

<Hidoyou> Celanyth hasn't returned yet
* Hidoyou nods down the passageway
<Prince_Herb> Celanyth scouts...
<Prince_Herb> Celanyth goes down the other passage, and finds another room filled with dead orc women and children
<Prince_Herb> There are at least twenty corpses
* Celanyth checks the room for any other passages as well.
<Prince_Herb> No other passages are revealed by the light of your lantern
<Prince_Herb> As you inspect the walls, though, you catch some movement in the corner of your eye
* Celanyth slowly sets the lantern down, fully opening the shutters and draws his Dagger, then drops into a ready stance and spins towards the movement.
<Prince_Herb> Four smallish skeletons with burning black eyes have risen from the mess of corpses on the floor and are moving slowly towards you
<Prince_Herb> Chandor begins to chant the short form of the burial rites
* Celanyth draws a dart and launches it at the nearest skeleton.

<Mitchigan> "Ah good! He can still complain... Now that we know he's okay, shall we continue?"
* Hidoyou opens up a pouch
<Celanyth> "Bah, it'll take more'n that to kill me. I hope, at least."
* Hidoyou takes out a large strip of leather and throws it at Celanyth
* Mitchigan helps Celanyth to his feet...
* Celanyth staggers to his feet with a grunt and leans against the wall.
* Celanyth catches teh leather strip.
<Celanyth> "What's this?"
* Hidoyou hands him a bag of bullets
* Celanyth chuckles.
<Celanyth> "Yeah, yeah, I got the hint."
<Hidoyou> I saw the dart
* Celanyth hands them back.
<Celanyth> "I'll stick with what I know.
<Celanyth> I got enough darts to last for a while."
* Hidoyou returns the sling and bullets to their proper place.
<Prince_Herb> The bodies here seem to have been very professionally stripped, just like the others
<Prince_Herb> So, Chandor heals Celanyth back up to 3 HP, and is now out of healing
<Prince_Herb> What's the party going to do next?
<Celanyth> "Guess I'm off again down that last path, eh? You guys just want to wait at the cross-path?"
<Mitchigan> "Actually, I suggest we return to town and have someone tend to Celanyth's injuries..."
* Mitchigan says with a frown.
<Mitchigan> "You recieved this much injury after comming down this far... Further ahead, there may be scores upon scores more of undead creatures lying in wait."
<Chandor> And I can no longer heal you, til we have slept.
<Mitchigan> "Also, by heading back to town we can better prepare ourselves now that we have an idea as to what to expect."
